Bonjour!

meatyryvita · 30/03/2026 10:40

Hello losers! Thanks for the new thread @HeidiLite!

How are you all? It's been a while since I checked in - home and work life are pretty busy. I'm maintaining at just below 10 stone and think I'm rather happy there. I'm a size 10 for the most part and think that if I got any smaller, I'd start to look too small. DH says I look 'fragile' from behind and so I really need to up my weight training.

I bought some chicken thighs with skin on at the weekend and after cry/giggling to myself as I realised the backs of my own thighs look the same, I did uphill walking on the treadmill and weighted squats when I got home!

I read about the potential medicine shortage in the UK due to the Fanta Fuhrer's latest attempt to avoid culpability for his crimes, and asked for an early refill from SheMed, which they've granted. I'm still on 4.8mg but think that in the very near future, I'll be able to go back down to 2.4mg and eke out my stash.

Have a great week everyone.

HeidiLite · 30/03/2026 11:00

@meatyryvita weights will make a massive difference. I'm still saggy here and there, but it's quite impressive how muscle has filled at least some of the parts where fat used to be. Leg day today - lucky, as my gym is especially packed with gym bros on Mondays, but they all train upper body only so leg side is usually for my private use.

My stash should last me a year (!) as I buy 5s and click count. An of course absolutely terrified the fridge will fail 😀Need to check how cold my wine fridge is, maybe I can keep some of it there, just in case.

Hello all! Nice shiny new thread ✨

Ive just been for a sports rehab massage which was extraordinarily painful but also incredibly helpful. My movement is much freer already. Fascinating how everything is like a chain reaction, my issue started in my lower back but is now also affecting my glutes, hamstring, piriformis. I have renewed optimism that I can get on top of it now, I've been rather down about not having much if any improvement over 6 weeks. But I have a couple of weeks off work, so concentrating on my rehab stretches and exercises and physio and massage again next week. 🤞

😆at the thought of @meatyryvita 's chicken legs! I love a bit of incline walking on the treadmill. ❤️

HeidiLite · 30/03/2026 13:28

@MJalltheway it's really fascinating, isn't it, how you can get pain in a random place because the problem is somewhere else but you are compensating. I had issues with hip pain for ages before the physio figured out it was caused by one hamstring being a lot weaker and me always leaning to the stronger side.

Thelittlestranger · 30/03/2026 13:40

Yep - I feel my SLI joint problem at the front, bony part of my hip. Because that is what is taking the force of my upper body when I'm out of sync. Currently learning about our anatomy for Pilates and our bodies are incredible, and all inter connected.

@jins we're getting a Nissan Elgrand campervan. So, VW size.

@aimingforearlierbedtimes what are your resolutions? (other than earlier bedtimes!!)

@meatyryvita (waves)

@HeidiLite picking up on what you said in the other thread about being worried about coming off. The way I look at it, is that I can always get back on it again should I need to...

Jins · 30/03/2026 13:46

@Thelittlestranger the one thing my campervan friends swear by is a solar panel with a dual controller to keep both batteries charged. The other is a Cobb bbq which is something I use everyday.

And nobody should be without duvalay sleeping bags.

Wtafmakeitstop · 30/03/2026 15:57

@Thelittlestranger thanks for the name check which made it way easier to find this new thread! And thanks for starting it @HeidiLite .
I need to get back (my mind mostly) to where I was for most of last year:

  1. Eating something I don’t need/want is no less wasting it than throwing it away
  2. I’m not permanently depriving myself, I can have <insert name of goodie> any time but do I really need it now? It can probably wait. These thoughts have been working really well for me but right now I’m a bit tired and stressed and need to get my head back in it.

Edit - Ah damn, it’s aimingformoresleep here but I just posted under the wrong user name and can’t change it. So I guess this is me until we fill the thread up 😂

Thelittlestranger · 30/03/2026 19:48

@Wtafmakeitstop very sensible, and pretty much my headspace. And it's not even that I'm in a danger zone - I'm 1lb over my buffer of 2lbs. That will be gone by Friday. But - I'd rather not be reaching the top end every week. It's not good for my peace of mind. Good luck.

Just finished a spin class - I usually do it in the morning, but did it now so I wouldn't be at home snacking!

Thelittlestranger · 30/03/2026 19:49

@Jins thanks for the recommendations. Will take a look. We haven't bought anything other than a mattress topper yet (Slothie) window blinds and a toilet.

HeidiLite · 30/03/2026 20:13

I'm sleep deprived today. Time change didn't help but also DH suffers from hay fever and makes walrus noises, while I suffer from misophonia. Had to sleep on the sofa so I wouldn't murder him.
Good leg day at the gym. Foodwise average, will try to squeeze an extra hour of exercise in tomorrow and get back on the wagon before too much damage is done. I just wish the weather would improve.

Hello new thread.
We had a rather choppy boat trip yesterday, but saw some dolphins!
Then had lunch out, and came back to the villa for more hard relaxing.
Today we have a walk booked (got to register for certain paths here) with a bakery at the end of it, in my attempt to persuade the DC to join.
Perhaps another lunch out and then more lounging by the pool.
As per Penelope’s advice I’m enjoying the holiday and trying not to worry about over eating. Had ‘seconds’ yesterday which pleased DM.

After not seeing her for 8 months the connection between her cooking as her way of both expressing her love, but also giving her some control, is so clear. She admitted to just cooking non-stop for her family while she was back in her home country and giving it all away, not eating any of it. Back with us now, there’s a fine balance of letting her cook so she feels a sense of control but also not letting her overdo it so we end up throwing it all away.

FrothyCothy · 31/03/2026 10:28

Venturing over from the Jan 2026 starters thread to ask if any of you had taken or tried anything for hair loss that actually worked? I already try to wash my hair as few times a week as I can get away with and only brush it in the shower when full of conditioner to minimise breakage but it’s definitely coming out at a rate of knots - I’m not even losing weight that quickly so feels unfair 😆 tell me your positive stories of regrowth!

HeidiLite · 31/03/2026 10:29

Hi Frothy, I use minoxidil. But once you have lost the weight and are in maintenance, many people find hair starts growing back again.

OP posts:
MJalltheway · 31/03/2026 10:31

@DGmaintaining, do share any top tips for must-see/must-do things in Madeira so I can add them to our list for summer!
@FrothyCothy i haven't had this myself but I think a lot of people have had success with taking collagen

Jins · 31/03/2026 10:50

@FrothyCothy I lost quite a bit more hair than normal during my summer moult and my ponytail looked pathetic but it’s all growing back now and looking dreadful. My fringe especially. I didn’t try anything as I’m lazy and poor. 🤣

I hadn’t noticed I was replying to a new thread so thanks for setting it up @HeidiLite

Wtafmakeitstop · 31/03/2026 15:16

@FrothyCothy only advice I have is that when you’re eating less it’s especially important to make sure that what you do eat is as nutritionally sound as possible. This is for hair, skin, muscles, energy. I’ve been majoring on protein (which also keeps me fuller), making sure I’m getting minerals and vitamins etc. I do take collagen, although there’s not a huge amount of science behind it, I figure that the worst case is I’m getting some expensive extra protein. My hair was quite fine and thin before I started this, it hasn't actually got any worse.

26inprogress · 31/03/2026 17:27

Hi all
Thanks for new thread @HeidiLite👏.
@FrothyCothyI had lots of hair loss, despite majoring in protein etc. I’ve been maintaining since Sept ish and started collagen in December and I have huge amounts of hair regrowth. Not sure whether it’s because I’ve stopped losing or collagen, either way it’s good and annoying in equal measure as it looks awful!!
Madeira sounds amazing @DGmaintaining

hi @meatyryvitalovely to hear about how well you’re doing and lol on chicken thighs!

Sorry, dashing to get the train but wanted to say hi.

hunkydory54 · 01/04/2026 08:29

Morning losers, @HeidiLite thank you for the new thread. I think I managed to lurk my way through most of the last one, silently supporting everyone through ups and downs. I have been busy looking after elderly parents and just general life stuff. Since last September, I went on to Wegovy and then changed back to MJ with Pharmulous just before Christmas after a 2 week washout. I have been working my way back up through the MJ strengths and including the golden dose. I will finally be back to 10mg tomorrow when I jab so I'm hoping this will get me to my goal. I'm currently 11stone 10 and ideally I'd like to lose another stone. I'm 5' 7" and 62 and it's slooow. I am very close to having lost 4 stone, I started at 15stone 8.

My lack of motivation to exercise is not helping. I've never been a great exerciser and I need to change that, although I do a lot of NEAT (I think it's called where it's not a specific exercise routine, just incidental in day to day living).

I'm going to stay with my great cheerleading friend in the South of France in a couple of weeks so she'll have a good go at motivating me and I've got a lovely holiday planned for my silver wedding anniversary to Italy in early June. Lots of good events for motivation.

I've not had any hair loss, but I've been on collagen and HRT throughout taking MJ so that may have helped.

Jins · 01/04/2026 08:43

Tried on the rest of my holiday clothes yesterday and I won’t need my big case. That’s assuming that there’s fuel to fly me there in six weeks. So the pressure is on and the alterations pile and ragbag is full, even before I try dresses on. I’m finding it quite shocking actually.

Good to see you again @hunkydory54 and well done on the nearly 4 stone. Caring duties add another dimension of work to busy lives and it can be tough going.

Minimal plans for me today but sadly one of the tasks on the list is fuelling the car and panic buying started yesterday apparently with road blocking queues at Costco. Not looking forward to it.

HeidiLite · 01/04/2026 08:48

oh I was planning to go to Costco this saturday - haven't noticed much panic here yet, but it usually spreads. Am glad though in current circumstances we only have fully electric cars that I can charge for free at work.

I want to book Xmas holidays though but no idea what will happen to flights, especially as best connections are through Middle East..

Zempy · 01/04/2026 12:48

Thanks for new Fred.

I have been lucky and not experienced any hair loss. DD lost loads of hair when she lost three stone without WLI.

I now have five holidays booked for this year! It really is my budget priority. I don’t use much petrol so am hoping my half tank will see me through until the end of April.

myladyjane · 01/04/2026 19:29

Oh hello.

i swear by pumpkin oil for hair loss. I definitely lost quite a bit but I had a lot to start with so it’s not been too noticeable. Pumpkin oil does seem to have helped when I go through a shed phase.

exercise wise I am still doing ok actually. Quietly proud of myself as I am enjoying it and seeing it as a positive. Up to 20 mins running now and gym wise my little routine is going ok and I am slowly increasing my weights. My old PT is running a flexibility course in my gym now and I’m toying with signing up but it’s at a time when I have to get up early which doesn’t always work on a work day as my sleep can be patchy. But maybe I’ll try and see.

HeidiLite · 01/04/2026 20:23

I did 100 push ups today - in 3 sets, but still. Getting there!
pull ups still so hard though..
