Re - protein. I'm sorry if my comments bothered anybody.

I just wonder why some folk are buying protein shakes and powders.
Can't you just eat fish, meat and other sources of it? I'm honestly asking this, not in an aggressive way.

Maybe I'm missing something about the protein stuff?

I fully agree (I don’t have them), I think maybe people with high suppression might use them and super fit types who are doing epic amounts of training/body building perhaps? I really like eating actual food rather than drinking it! I’m a complete carnivore and an obsession with all things cottage cheese so maybe that’s why I find it fairly easy to keep my protein up. Maybe in the future if I got obsessed with strength training I might considering protein powder but I’d definitely prefer chicken 😂.

I imagine it must be really hard for veggies/vegans as well so maybe they might need to supplement?

SilenceInside · 26/03/2026 19:59

I’m vegetarian. It’s not hard to get enough protein as long as you are ok with a varied vegetarian diet. Vegan might be a little trickier but as long as you like pulses, beans, tofu, seitan, tempeh etc you’d be ok.

TragicMuse · 26/03/2026 20:10

I like adding a bit of collagen to my coffee and if I make a smoothie I go for a scoop of protein powder. But I really don’t like the clear drinks, the sweetener is overwhelming - I don’t really like pop anyway - so I leave them.

I tend to hit the babybels for a protein boost!

I buy products with extra protein as I am vegetarian and have ARFID so there are very few good protein sources I can eat. I do things like swapping a normal wrap for my lunch when in the office with a protein wrap just to boost things up, and have switched from rice cakes as a snack to lentil cakes as they have more protein. However I accept my protein intake is less than ideal - if I could eat natural sources I would, and would have much more protein in my diet, but as it is, I make do with what I can.

However I wasn't bothered by your comments - the only time I get frustrated when people talk about what they eat is when people assume everyone eats the same things!

SW 26st 9lb
CW 15st 13.6lb

Loss to date is just over 40% of my starting weight.

Frustratingly I'm 0.6lb away from my interim target of 15 st 13lb (which will put my bmi under 35).

But 15st 13lb still starts with a 15 so I'm going to take it as a win!

Last week I went for a spa day. Pre mj I couldn't close the robes. A few months ago I could just about do up the robe. Last week I could cross it right over me. Little changes each week are really adding up.

Protein wise I try and aim for 100-130g per day mostly from lean meats and eggs. But I do love the Muller/My Protein chocolate mousse.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 27/03/2026 00:17

Oh Janie that's such an impressive loss! Well done.

Can I ask you all how you fill your free time now it doesn't revolve around food? DH was going stir crazy this weekend and wanted to go out somewhere or do something. But I only know how to do stuff that revolves around food.

I do lots of sports nowadays. I go for a walk every day, jogging three times per week and to the gym occasionally.

With my husband I like to go swimming, hiking and I'd love to go on bike tours when it'll be a bit warmer. We also enjoy city trips that include a lot of walking.

So, plenty to do.

Springflowers2 · 27/03/2026 10:47

Two of my DC use protein powders ,one of them uses hule a lot .
But they both train hard running marathons and triathlons and heavy use of the weights in the gym.
I just try to eat a balanced diet as much as I can ..but I do find it difficult because of being vegan ..but my DC are vegan to ,and they find it difficult,so it's probably just me

Springflowers2 · 27/03/2026 10:48

Don't find it difficult
Blimey i.cant even type properly today

As far as NSV's go, this is an oldie but a goodie.

I'm currently led in the bath and there is a gap both sides of me! This is likely to be a short lived NSV as I'm having the bath ripped out next month and replaced with a fancy walk in shower but still, I'll know it happened 🤣

Amazing, I so get the spa robe thing, exactly the same happened to me a few weeks ago!

And I love the Muller protein mousses- but only the salted caramel ones. Don't make my mistake and buy the new Muller protein mixer yoghurts (they're on 5 for a fiver in Iceland), I took one mouthful and binned the rest, was awful

Billybingbong · 27/03/2026 11:19

Week 51, and 1lb off, which means I've now hit my next target of 100lb off, just in time for my 1yr anniversary next week. From 316 to 216, 7st 2lb, 45kg, gone forever. From the elephants penis list (apologies to any newer members who wont have a clue 😉) thats a 2 month old horse. It doesn't matter how many different ways I say it, it just doesn't sound real. This journey is insane 😳

Weigh in for me today 2 pound off.
Start weight was 20st 7
Weight today is 13st 9

2 pounds away from 7 stone loss which I'm hoping to get next week. The end of april will be my 1 year anniversary on the jags and im so glad I done it, I can't believe im even here. I dont know what goal weight will be for me. Healthy bmi is 10 stone but honestly i'll be happy just being in the 10's so roughly about 3 stone to go.

Hope everyone else is getting on okay. I am struggling a wee bit easter eggs are my favourite chocolate and I just want to stuff my face with them 🙈

TheZingyFish · 27/03/2026 12:08

@Billybingbong
Absolute queen! So proud of you!

I love this group so much as it’s amazing to see the progress we are all making, and especially the NSV, which would never occur to most people. That said they often don’t occur to us until it happens. Some of my favourites have been putting down tray table on a plane so I can use it as it previously got stuck on my stomach, wrapping a towel around me without gaping and choosing any chair to sit in without fear of getting stuck.

I’ll also say, as I’m among adults, that my new found confidence is appreciated as well by someone else in private if you know what I mean! 😉

Billybingbong · 27/03/2026 12:32

Aw thanks @TheZingyFish you do say the loveliest things 💕

NSV's, so so many, the list is endless. But here's a few of my faves
• crossing my legs
• the chair thing. Not having to scan the room for the biggest chair, or one without arms. We are going out for dinner on Sunday, and I have no seating dread. In a previous life, I would have scanned the website before booking to make sure they weren't booths.
• walking, this has made the biggest difference to me. This time last year, I literally couldn't walk to the end of the road. Now, I walk miles most days, and we do some amazing treks with the dogs every weekend. I feel such freedom.

None quite so, ahem, 'exciting' as Zingys NSV 🤭, but life changing all the same.

Ha!

I only have a shower, and AGES ago, my favourite NSV was being able to get in and out of the shower without getting wedged in the door.

My next favourite NSV was being able to cut my own toenails. That actually meant that I could stop having to go to the chiropodist, so I saved money.

And the next NSV was being able to put pairs of tights on easily. I love that one. I always had to get my husband to help me, so now he's buggered off, at least I can get the tights on without contorting myself.

Castlebark · 27/03/2026 13:21

I'm loving reading all the NSVs today, such good motivation.

Jab 7 done, and I had a bit of a woosh early this week, so 2.1kg down. That makes 10.1kg (22 lbs) in 6 weeks, which feels like a bit too quick?

SW 122.7kg (19 stone 4)
CW 112.6 (17 stone 10)

I actually did jab 7 a day early, as I'm on my second 2.5mg pen. I had been feeling that my suppression was waning, and that I was relying more on willpower. Snacking was starting to creep in, including having a few of the kids' leftover chips, etc. so I ordered a 5mg pen.

I was planning on taking my current 2.5 pen on day 5 or 6 for the next few weeks, to start titrating up to 5mg. But now, given my regular losses, I'm wondering if I should stick to 2.5 for longer?

I've been referred to get an ovarian cyst removed, and the hospital's limit for keyhole surgery is a BMI of 41. I'm actually now 41.4 (down from 45.1), but didn't want to risk a plateau and causing a delay. We set the op for May, to be safe. Although it now looks like I'll be safely below.

Anyone got a crystal ball to tell me the best path?

eibbed999 · 27/03/2026 14:03

Quick question for you - how long are you guys comfortable with having a pen open? I've never thought twice about keeping them active for up to 6 weeks, when I've been counting clicks etc. But as I'm now considering having a month or so off (in an attempt to kick start again) I'm in a weird spot. I started a new 15mg pen on Monday, so if I go with my current plan and have at least a 4 week break then start again on a lower dose, that pen will be open a while. Thoughts? I know technically it's only 30 days but I also know many of us pay no attention to that too!

Billybingbong · 27/03/2026 14:18

@eibbed999 I bought some 7.5 & 10 pens in the August rush, fully expecting to need the higher doses, but have never needed to move up from 5mg. havI've been microdosing, and the 10's have been lasting me 10 weeks. I just keep them in the fridge, and they have been fine. I known it goes against the rules, but I refuse to waste a drop!

EnterSandfan · 27/03/2026 14:44

Oh yes the crossing of the legs! A couple of weeks ago I realised I was sitting with them crossed 'properly' and not like a man like I have always sat with one ankle on the opposite knee 😆

Oh I LOVE crossing my legs!!

I went out for lunch with my mum today, had what I wanted and stopped when I had enough. No clear-the-plate angst or guilt. That was fairly revelatory!

CatAtTheWindow · 27/03/2026 16:34

Well done for the great weight losses this week.

I'm also weigh-in day today.
SW 20st 12lbs/132.5kg
CW 19st 9.5lbs/124.9kg
Loss 1st 2.5lbs/7.6kg

So 2lbs lost this week which I'm pleased with. Very happy to be under 125kg too. I do like tracking all the number drops, I record my weight in stones, lbs and kilos so that gives more opportunities to hit a mini-target on weigh-in day. I never used to do that on other diets in the past.

PearlsTeapot · 27/03/2026 16:55

Some great losses and NSVs this week, especially love Zingy's cheeky one!

I keep a pen open double the time, I'm on 10mg pens and taking out 5mg plus golden dose. Doesn't bother me at all, I'm not wasting any and saving money is importance to me! Medicine marketplace let me order every 7 weeks.
