tescovaluebread · 01/05/2026 09:15

Finally saw a drop in the scales after STS for 2 weeks. 1kg down this week, bringing me to 85.5kg from 144kg. I can't believe it!

I am coming clean now about the jabs (to some people), and I feel ready to. So when one of the nursery teachers came out she said to me I looked really good and I was looking "slinky" and I actually quite liked that word 😁I told her I was on the jabs, she asked if it was good and then asked quietly "it's expensive though isn't it?" Then, on pick up, another nursery worker said I looked well - they were obviously talking about me, which is fine, I don't mind. They are all very nice ladies. They aren't skinny either, so I wondered if the second worker brought it up because she wanted to ask about it. Something I was thinking about today.

Anyway, I'm starting to feel better about myself being honest about it. I think in part because it has actually worked with no side effects for me, so I feel confident in my decision.

I hope everyone is good and will have a great weekend!

Theringcycle · 01/05/2026 09:26

for those wondering about whether/who to share with - personally nobody has asked me anything yet (I’m still at the stage of people at work doing a slight second glance but as previously mentioned I think I was seen as generic size fat so dropping to slightly-less-so isn’t something people are noticing) BUT having read “Weightless” which I would 100% recommend, it’s made me feel much more confident about just saying that I’ve finally got the medication I needed. (Although it’s also not anybody’s business of course!). If anyone does ask I think I’m ready to say.

Theringcycle · 01/05/2026 09:28

@52soon hope the increase helps you. are you in the UK? I’m prescribed for diabetes and was told I wouldn’t get more than 5mg so I am also ready to buy an additional prescription if I need it.

SnowWhiteisMyFavourite · 01/05/2026 10:26

Morning! I’ll after some advice and motivational support! My official weigh-in day is tomorrow, but as I weigh myself daily, I can report that my weight continues to zigzag. I should be pleased that I’ve lost 3.9lbs in total since 1st April, but it definitely hasn’t been linear. I really wanted to start May in my 79s instead of 80s 😄

I guess I’m now at the stage where my weight loss has slowed down, it’s hard to adjust mentally to be honest. I increased my dose to 4.75mg two weeks ago. I’m weighing my food regularly again to make sure that my 100g hasn’t crept up to 120g by accident. On the days I run (3*5km) or go to the gym (weights or HIIT class) my calorie intake is around 1600, and I’ve dropped it to 1300 on my rest days (I was averaging 1500 daily). I’m still walking 10k steps on my rest days, so the deficit should still be enough.

I’ve lost 42kg out of the 47kg I want to lose, I’m almost 90% there. I could continue to lose more but at the moment, i think that’s where I will be happy. My suppression is good, I don’t have cravings and I eat protein heavy food. I don’t want to eat less if I really don’t have to, so is my only option to increase my exercise even further?

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 01/05/2026 10:31

@SnowWhiteisMyFavourite day to day fluctuations are totally normal, it's best to look at the losses over a longer period of time, and basically 4lbs in a month is perfectly good loss at this stage in your journey. I'd just keep going as you are as it's working and accept that your calorie deficit is now lower as you have less to lose (so your TDEE will be lower). It will also help you prepare for maintenance.

Billybingbong · 01/05/2026 10:32

Week 56 and a small whoosh of 3lb this week. Total 7st 10lb, and I'm into the next stone, which is always nice. I haven't seen 14 something on the scales for a very long time! I'm also in touching distance away from <200lb, so that's my next mini target

SW 22st 8lb
CW 14st 12lb
GW 11st 4lb

We are going to a family do this weekend, and I haven't seen most of them for 2 years, so that should be interesting. It is DH's extended family, and we are not mega close, but they are a lovely bunch of people, so I am really looking forward to it. But it does feel a little overwhelming, seeing 20odd people, all at once, for the first time at this size. I'm sure I will get lots of lovely comments, but one or two of the older folk (I'm looking at you Auntie Marion) can be a little opinionated, and I am bound to get asked if I'm on the jabs. I am absolutely not ashamed it, just not ready to announce it to a whole room of people. So I'm not sure how I'm going to handle that one!

I'm so interested to see what you've written about Concerta XL and its effect on you.
Will you be on it for life now?

@SnowWhiteisMyFavourite
You've done really well.

As you're losing about 1lb a week, you don't need to do anything.

Don't worry about your losses not being linear. You still have good suppression.

I'm very much at the end of my travels and I've only got a few pounds left to lose.

I'm losing 2lb a month now. That's slow but it's still happening.

Watch this space in a month. I should have hit my ten stone off then.

I had a bit of a blip yesterday, which reminded me how important it is for me to have a good routine with my food. I was doing something different at work which meant I was going to buy lunch rather than taking it in. That would have been fine as there are healthy choices, but I forgot to bring my breakfast. That lead to me going to the canteen to buy a cooked breakfast, which then led to a packet of haribo, a couple of biscuits, and spiralling into my old habit of bread and butter while cooking dinner! It's scary how easy it is to fall into bad habits but I'm so grateful for the MJ getting me straight back on track today!

52soon · 01/05/2026 11:02

@Theringcycle yes, I am in UK but not England so Health is devolved so may have different rules, diabetes nurse prescribed me 10mg but no higher, the extra pen I’ve got in hand Will supplement an extra 2.5 per week and by using the bonus does from each pen I’ve built up a little excess supply. I’m just at the beginning of Y2 on MJ and I think the NHS cut off is 2 years so hopefully will get to goal in that time.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 01/05/2026 12:34

I'm still hovering around 10st 5lb - 10st 6lb.

I am so keen to get down to 10st 2lb. Nearly there. Just need a whoosh.

I've got a follow up appointment next week to see how it's going
Each day seems different at the moment .
I have absolutely no desire to socialise.
My brain is very quiet ,which is nice ,but I'm now very quiet to .
More contented ,less anxiety, and more assertive,or more I just don't care if I've upset someone..not that I do ..but I was always worried after any conversation that what I said was taken the wrong way ,or had upset someone..now I'm like meh ..
It's all quite subtle though,so I have to really think about how I am on the tablets to how I am when they wear of .

SnowWhiteisMyFavourite · 01/05/2026 16:34

@RenegadeKeeblerElf @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne

I know what you’re saying and I’m just being impatient. My weight always fluctuates during the week but the last 4 weeks the zigzag trend just has been weird, random up and downs. It just feels like after I hit 82kg and moved from obese to overweight, my body has decided to do its own thing. I did C25K and have been running 5km 3 times a week now for 5-6 weeks, I just wonder if this could have unbalanced my body and it’s holding on to either water or fat!?

BMR/TDEE trend is interesting, my BMR has dropped from 1847 to 1427 during the mj journey. I definitely need to keep up the exercise to be able to maintain!

Missingducks · 01/05/2026 18:19

Had my monthly call with my BUPA coach (where I usually just say 'all is fine and I know what I am doing' but instead I said I tend to lose 10lbs and then sit for a month before going again. Their reply was that it is internal organs recalibrating and working out the new normal. So for those who haven't been here for long it reminded me of the previous chats our bodies were having
Stomach reports still quite full
Colon reports either a blockage or smooth running
Mouth reports a reduction in activity
Boobs report just left boob feeling a bit rattly in the bra but right boob still snug
Arse reports more coverage from knickers
Eyes report less comparison with other people
Etc

Thank you, that’s helpful. I don’t know what my NHS trust’s position is on duration but the diabetes dr has been very clear with me that I am prescribed for diabetes not weight loss so I really dont know what the long-term plan will be assuming my sugars are better-controlled with me on it. I have an appt with the kidney specialist clinic in a couple of months (they were the ones who first suggested I consider it) - I’ll ask them too.

SnowWhiteisMyFavourite · 01/05/2026 18:50

@Missingducks i love that and will add “muscles report ongoing trauma” to the list 😄

My HBA1C is now good at 34 but I have to have a repeat blood test for my kidneys in a few weeks, I asked if I could come off my BP meds but she said no they help your kidneys so I’m stuck on them until my kidneys behave.

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 02/05/2026 08:26

Weigh in day and unsurprisingly after my mini binge a couple of days ago I have had a small gain. I'm not worried or upset by it as I know I haven't eaten over my TDEE by enough for it to be fat, so it must be water and will come off soon. But I am taking it as a warning to make sure I keep my head in the game, and I will consider going up a dose if it keeps happening (or gets harder to prevent).

You've done fantastically, you're right not to be worried by a tiny bit like that. Everyone still has to live their lives and enjoy themselves too. Well done!

Love the report @Missingducks . I'm hoping my boobs report more space soon...!

Good luck all, hope we are all doing well! Onwards and downwards!

Still at 10st 6lb today but legs are continuing to slim down, even if the scales aren't doing anything.

So I'm happy.

OP posts:
TragicMuse · 02/05/2026 16:30

I’ve lost 0.75 of a lb this week. So slow!

But I’m wearing smaller clothes and am happy with things. People really do treat others differently based on size. I’ve had interactions this week that I am sure would never have been the way they were if I was still 19 stone. I don’t mean people would have been rude or anything but I know that I am perceived differently in a smaller body. I’m still older but not as invisible - could be the bleached hair I suppose!

Anyway. Onwards!

My boobs are needing a smaller bra, but scales stayed the same too.
Had quite a few people I see every few weeks say I look like I’ve lost weight recently (yep all1kg this month 🙄). Frustrating as been very disciplined and expecting the scales to reward me.

AlicesMum2025 · 03/05/2026 19:01

Hi all, it was my jab-iversary yesterday but I've waited until weigh in today to post. I have now lost 54.2kg (8st 5lb).

I started at 140.3kg (22st 1.5lb), size 26-28. I'm now 86.1kg (13st 8lb), size 16. BMI has gone from 54.1 to 33.2.

So yes, even after a year I'm still obese and would qualify to start mounjaro, but no denying that I've lost a ton of weight. I've lost 2/3 of the total amount I want to lose, and it will probably take me another 6-9 months to get to goal.

My life has been totally transformed by this weight loss. I was struggling to climb stairs, could hardly get up and down from the floor, I couldn't bend over to tie my shoelaces, and just moving around generally was getting increasingly difficult each year. It has taken many sacrifices to lose this weight, both financially and personally, but it's been worth it and no question in my mind that I'm going to keep going.

Sharing some photos comparing now to when I started going to a gym in August. No filter, just raw photos in terrible lighting!

(The photos from May 2025 are not fit for sharing - I think when I started the gym I'd lost 17.6kg / 2st 10lb so imagine that on top of what I looked like in the August gym photo!)
