Sorry to hear your sad news @MrTiddlesTheCat give yourself some leeway with the eating plan at this time. We”ll all still be here when you’re ready to get back to it.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 27/04/2026 21:20

I've relied on ready meals the last couple of days, but I've managed to bulk them out with salad rather than chocolate.

ConfusedMiddleAger83 · 27/04/2026 21:38

@MrTiddlesTheCat I’m so sorry to hear your sad news, take care of yourself.

@OvertiredandConfused i hope all goes well with your op and that you have a swift recovery.

Billybingbong · 27/04/2026 21:48

@OvertiredandConfused good luck for your op, I hope it goes smoothly and you're soon on the mend 💐

@PearlsTeapot how are you doing lovely? I've been thinking of you x

MrTiddlesTheCat · 27/04/2026 14:19

Thank you all. You know some of it, split proximal humerus head fracture leading to permanent disability, and breast cancer, but there's lots of other lesser stuff which all adds to the burden. And then my mum died yesterday.

@MrTiddlesTheCat I am so sorry for your loss. The pain of loosing a parent really is a terrible heartache.

You sound like you have had a tough journey and life really feels unfair. My weight loss journey has also been tarnished by life events this last year. I began MJ Jan 2025 I lost my wonderful dad right at the start. I’m both proud I kept going despite my grief, I know my dad would be proud and so happy I am choosing my health. I decided the best way to honour him was to love myself and take care of myself the way he would & champion for me if he could be here. It’s made me much kinder to myself, far more forgiving and reminded me to prioritise myself and my needs. I am trying to keep his love for me alive if that makes sense & seems a healthy output for grief.
I really recommend treating yourself now with all the kindness you can. It will make you happy to know it would make your mum happy.

I have also had a recent skin cancer diagnosis. It’s hit me hard that despite my massive 6.5stone weight loss this year and now regular exercise, taking care of myself, sometimes things come along outside your control. This is my second dealing with it and having a young family putting a brave face on all the time is hard.
However, I do think talking positively (even if I don’t feel it) over time does help your brain to hear positive things more than spiralling negatively. So… even if you don’t feel ok right now, tell yourself you will be.

Sending a virtual hug and solidarity for the tough life ride alongside weight loss. You are doing great to keep going!

Reginaphalangeeeee · 28/04/2026 10:05

I'm on the start of week 3 on concerta xl ..now the noise in my head has gone ,I'd no idea how quiet I actually am ,and how little interaction/ conversation I actually need...if anyone approaches,I'm thinking ..please don't talk to me ..
I have permanent headphones in when out of the house to put people off approaching ... tomorrow I have to double the dose ...I will probably be silent in a week ..chat gtp says this is normal..
Who knows
Anyway the scales hover at 15 12 for a second ..but settled at 16 stone again ..
So near ...

I'm having an operation under general anaesthetic next week and during the pre-op assessment they advised me to skip this weeks dose so assuming I jab the day after the operation I'll end up with 14 days between injections.

I know the official guidance says its fine to inject as normal after a 1 week break, but I'm on 15mg and I'm wondering if I'd be better doing 10 or 12.5 to reduce the risk of side effects due to the sudden increase of mj in my system. Or should i just go back to 15mg as usual. Just wondered if anyone had any experience?

So far I haven't missed any doses just moved a day or so if I couldn't jab on the normal day.

I've been pretty lucky and had minimal side effects so far.

52soon · 28/04/2026 18:10

I think I’m going to increase dose to 12.5mg I’ve been on 10mg for 6 months prescribed by diabetes nurse but she can’t increase dose as my sugars are now normal even though BMI is still 36, I have got a couple of pens in hand as I use extra dose so I’m going to use 1 pen to top up my 10mg pen by 2.5 each week. I’ve noticed this week when I’ve been shopping I’ve really wanted to buy the junk I used to buy but have not thought about or missed since last April and when I came home from shopping today a French stick has made it’s way home with me🙈

When I had an operation last year I was off it for over 3 weeks.
But at the time I was only on 5mg and went straight back to that dose again.

As you are on 15mg I think I would be tempted to click count and start again at 10 or thereabouts the week you resume.

OvertiredandConfused · 28/04/2026 19:10

Thank you for the messages.

Surgery went well. Feeling a bit uncomfortable, but nothing more- I’m ulatising the pain meds for the first few days!

He’s told me I can eat anything I like, just to do it gradually and in moderation.Assuming I have no digestive issues in the next week, I can restart Mounjaro whenever I like after 8th May. Planning to make an appointment for 6th May and hope my provider concurs. Worst case scenario is I have to wait for my discharge consultation in six weeks and he will prescribe.

@Reginaphalangeeeee
I'm sorry about your diagnosis.
Have they said what treatment you're going to need?

Thank you.
Yes I need more skin cut out and deeper, so another surgery with better boundary and the. Hopefully that will be all.
i don’t mind the scar but the surgery is quiet sore for a week or two as skin stitched back under tension. Also takes me out of action a bit and I am in the swing of running and the gym so I will be sad to not progress/maintain activity as that is boosting weight loss

Reginaphalangeeeee · 28/04/2026 22:01

Glad you are out ok @OvertiredandConfused!
Hope it is a steady recovery.

@Janie934 I would be tempted to split dose the week you start again. So half the dose day after surgery and the other half 3-4 days later.

I had to do this after illness and then got back to full dose at day 8 and it felt strong so I waited another 8-9 days for dose after.

Have a look at Shotsy app so you can see your levels.

So sorry to hear that, hope it's not too sore

MrTiddlesTheCat · Yesterday 14:32

@ReginaphalangeeeeeSorry to hear you're going through similar. It tough isn't it, but we have to keep plodding on.

In other news, the healthcentre scales have decided to be really kind to me this week. I was worried that too many ready meals would mean I'd go up a bit. But I was hoping for a tiny loss to take me from 115 kg into the 114s, so I could have a cream egg. But I didn't get into the 114s, or the 113s. 112.9 kg, 3 cream eggs!!!

OvertiredandConfused · Yesterday 19:10

Now I’m home, I can report that the gas that is pumped into you for surgery combined with scrambled eggs on toast, a cheese and tomato sandwich and jacket potato with baked beans leads to a 4.5kg weight gain!

Good job I know it’s not a “real“ gain

I’m giving myself until the end of the bank holiday weekend to just get used to eating proper food again, albeit in moderation, then I’ll start calorie counting again and find out what happens next about getting back on Mounjaro

Mummy3431 · Yesterday 20:45

Sorry to hear of everyone who is struggling.

I'm just plodding along. I was 13.3 this morning only 4 pounds away from those 12's. Im just over 2 weeks away before I go on holiday so I know i'll put a lot on but i'l worry about that when i'm home.

See not worrying about fitting in the plane seat is just so surreal. Normally id be measuring my bum/hips and googling the width of the plane seat just now panicking I wont fit. Knowing I wont stress about breaking a sun lounger too. I know you guys all understand. It's just so nice.

Also im away with my son who is 4 and he's already asked me to go on the slides with him and I will happily. This is why im doing this to make memories with him and not miss out. Keep going guys all the NSV's are worth it over the numbers

Reginaphalangeeeee · Yesterday 23:33

Thank you all xx
i’m doing ok, waiting for a date & want it done already!

@MrTiddlesTheCat thats an impressive loss
@OvertiredandConfused good luck getting back to normal food. Your fluid balance will be right out of whack right now affecting weight so drink plenty!

NAV kinda today. Daughter looking at older pictures of me. Saw one of my face at my heaviest. I didn’t say anything. She asked who the picture was of. I replied me. She said but your cheeks are so chubby there, sorry, did you use a funny filter? It doesn’t look like you.
She is 11. The photo not that old 2-3 years. Made me realise, She doesn’t remember me being that big. I’ve never said I’m loosing weight but didn’t consider she didn’t even remember the bigger me. I’m kinda glad but sad for that mum, that bigger past version of me.
