Good luck, losers.

@PearlsTeapot

I also started MJ after having lost just over 2st by myself.

In my first year on MJ (and I've just checked my diaries) I lost 5st exactly.

Bearing in mind you had a long hospital admission during your year on MJ I think you've lost roughly the same amount of weight over a year as I did.

In the next seven months, I lost the next 2st (so a loss of less than 1lb a week).

And it took another 9 weeks to lose the next 5lb, which brings us up to this morning.

So you could say that I was a slowish loser, too. But I got there. And you will, too.

Although despite the fact that I'm now a size 8 - 10 the stupid BMI scale still reckons I'm overweight

OP posts:
TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 03/04/2026 21:41

In fact, the BMI scale tells me I could lose another three stone and still have a healthy BMI of 18.

Another three stone? Are they having a laugh?

OP posts:
PearlsTeapot · 03/04/2026 21:47

Another 3 stone! There’ll be nothing left of you. BMI really is bonkers.

Thank you both, you’re right and that’s cheered me up @Billybingbong

Missingducks · 04/04/2026 07:50

@PearlsTeapot my year is up on 16 April and I too have been looking at the 100 down with a green eye as I will be close to 80lb down (if I am not to eat all the Maltesers in the world before then). I could have gone harder and faster perhaps, am still on 7.5. But it feels sustainable. And I haven't had the challenges you have had it this year.

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 04/04/2026 08:27

Morning all! Small loss for me this week (0.4kg) which makes sense considering the mini binge I had Wednesday/Thursday. However, I decided not to increase my dose after all as I got back in track yesterday, with good suppression/lack of food noise despite it being day 7 (I jab Friday evening). I've never wanted to have the jab take away all desire for food as I want to be able to eat sensibly and get good habits ingrained for the future, and given the level of effect I still have on day 7 I think increasing the dose might make it too strong for me. So sticking with 5mg for now unless it becomes too difficult.

Fffreeeeezing · 04/04/2026 11:19

Week 55 and I was honestly not going to weigh in today, haven't had a 100% week and the whole period thing has thrown me (easily the worst one I've had in my entire life, I didn't know humans could bleed this much and not die🫣 seems I've been blessed in life with short light ones, this one is showing no signs of stopping)

Anyway, excuses over I thought what the hell and did weigh, 4lb off! That brings me to a lovely 9st 1lb loss. BMI is now well into the 30's and I'm a mere 13lb from a 10st loss and weighing under 100kg.

Was chatting to my PT this week about what I'm eating and how much, I said 1600cals but I'm going to have to drop them at some point soon as I drop more weight. She is fiercely against me doing that which I find interesting, she thinks I should never dip below 1600 as it will be of detriment to my health and fitness. I suppose while I'm still losing weight, I might as well stick to the most calories I can, will have to review if I start plateauing.

Hope everyone has a lovely Easter, onwards and downwards!

Well done @Fffreeeeezing that's such an achievement!
9st off is brilliant.

My WI isn’t great for overall loss, half a pound in 2 weeks. But I was away and it has gone all over the place.

Staying focused isn’t the challenge at the moment, losing really is!

On the other hand, my NSV is that I’m wearing a pair of size 12 jeans with the caveat they they’re a Sainsbury 12 which since sizing is so inconsistent anyway wouldn’t necessarily translate to a 12 across the board. And there is some significant muffin top going on but that’s fixed with a jumper - it’s too cold to go jumper less anyway! And I can sit down in them. So I’ll take it!

On to the next week…

Thanks for sharing that with me, it helps! And I’m glad it feels sustainable. 80lb is an enormous amount of weight to have lost.

Things have definitely improved since I went up to 5mg two weeks ago. I can still eat and still get hungry but the food noise has gone again which is worth every penny because it’s the food noise which tortures me.

PearlsTeapot · 04/04/2026 14:41

Well done @Fffreeeeezing amazing loss!! Sorry about your rotten period. Mounjaro has made mine lighter every month.

SnowWhiteisMyFavourite · 04/04/2026 17:24

Hello everyone!

My big win this week is that I’m (just about) overweight based on the BMI chart. I’ve gone from 44.3 to 29.9 🎉 goodbye obese me!

I have some great NSV from today’s shopping trip. I finally bought a new bra today and got measured: I’ve gone from 44DD to 40D. Another one was my running leggings: I got a new pair from a normal sports shop, size M! I bought a pair in January from M&S in size 18 and they feel too loose when I run. I’ve decided that I’ll treat myself to a pair of bum-lift leggings when I can run 5km nonstop 😄

I hope you all have a lovely Easter weekend and please let us not feel guilty of enjoying a few bits of chocolate and other treats that are so easily available this weekend. I remember a quote that I saw before Christmas when I was stressing about the holidays and it said “One week of fun doesn’t undo months of consistency” and I always try to remember this during holidays or other events. Xx

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 04/04/2026 17:27

I've got an annoying NSV.

My bra size has gradually gone from a 44J down to a 34J. It's been 34J for months.

I have quite a lot of bras in this size now - but I noticed today that the cup size is too big. It's the first time I've seen this.

I'm going to have to invest in smaller ones, dammit.

OP posts:
RenegadeKeeblerElf · 04/04/2026 18:12

@SnowWhiteisMyFavourite, your post has reminded me what I need to do this weekend with my eggs - chocolate is definitely my trigger food and I will overeat massively given the opportunity. What I've done in the past is to break up my eggs and weigh them out into 25g portions in little individual plastic bags, and keep them in the kitchen so I have to get up and go get one rather than the chocolate being in the living room right next to the sofa. That way I can get the chocolate taste but am less likely to binge. I reckon it will work even better this year as the MJ means that a small amount will satisfy me nicely, I just need to give it a few mins after I eat the chocolate for the satisfaction to kick in. Just wanted to share that in case it helps anyone else.

Hey friends, I continue to be so inspired by the multiple-stone weight losses you’ve achieved. Re the sizing thing - about 10 years ago 1 lost 4 stone and went down a grand 1 dress size (24 to 22). Although I’ve only lost a bit (8kg but happy with that for my first 2 months) a couple of people have noticed / commented but I think that’s for a couple of reasons (1) loss around my face and (2) that I’ve been able to wear some slimmer-fitting things that I hadn’t worn in years so there’s a bit more of a body shape visible. Genuinely think people just sort of see me as a generic “size fat” rather than seeing anything more so it’s take a lot for most people to notice a difference.

a few of us seem similar age / taking this on the cusp of menopause. I’m 50, still having periods (started one today actually) but not as regular as a few years back (I had a child only 5 years ago). Would be interested to know if anyone has started an HRT journey while on Mounjaro. I haven’t started anything yet as I don’t know to be honest when I need to.

Yes!

That made me laugh though. "A generic size fat"

Very well put. Yes, we're just fat people for ages and ages...... and then we lose the first 6st and it becomes obvious that we're definitely less fat at last.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 04/04/2026 18:53

@Theringcycle I was already on HRT when I started MJ.
I'm on post-menopausal HRT.

My GP (who is highly qualified in women's health) increased my dose of progesterone as a result, as it's absorbed in the alimentary canal, and MJ slows all of that down.

PearlsTeapot · 04/04/2026 18:59

@SnowWhiteisMyFavourite “One week of fun doesn’t undo months of consistency” is brilliant. Thank you. I've just eaten an easter egg. But I had half of one of the tiny £1.25 mini eggs ones when previous years I'd have eaten the biggest one I could get my mitts on.

@RenegadeKeeblerElf that's a really good idea to measure out treats! I don't know why this hasn't come to me before now. I'm definitely going to do it.

I was on HRT before MJ but the doctor upped my dose to counter the effects of the MJ

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 04/04/2026 19:16

I;m 47 but my mum went through menopause at 45. I am really curious about HRT and if it can help - especially if it helped with sleep and anxiety which are both quite bad for me at the moment.

I am so not good at gauging these things and a bit nervous of something that needs tweaking each time i change dose.

I also would really like repeates of my liver/iron etc tests I had a year ago ish - and ultrasound for my fatty liver - but worried ill come across all middle aged and demanding

ConfusedMiddleAger83 · 04/04/2026 19:18

@theringcycle i was already on HRT before I started MJ, I am 52 and not yet post menopause. My GP refused to consider a change in progesterone dose (I asked 2 different ones!) when I started MJ as I was apparently already on the maximum due to my weight.

In any case the HRT did nothing for me, despite trying different options of gel/patch etc every few months. My symptoms have been horrendous short term memory issues and brain fog and bone deep fatigue plus worsening periods causing iron deficiency - not really the ones I used to traditionally think of like hot flushes and night sweats.

I finally went and saw a private menopause specialist in Feb who did blood tests and listened and am on a new regime, a progesterone only contraceptive pill which has massively reduced my heavy bleeding already and a proper oestrogen dose (GP was very reluctant to let me have more than the minimum despite no efficacy, my blood tests showed it was through the floor 🙄). I am having to pay though both for the appointments and the PoP as it’s use for the progesterone element of HRT is off license - another cost!

But other friends have told me HRT has been life changing for them so don’t let me put you off and I am hopeful this new regime will help me, so far so good.

SnowWhiteisMyFavourite · 04/04/2026 19:48

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden If your blood test results from last year weren’t satisfactory, you should be able to request an annual test from your GP as a follow up. I was diagnosed with a fatty liver last year and my sugar levels were also high. I had my test redone last month and HbA1c had gone down from 42 to 35. All the liver function results were on green. Unfortunately NHS won’t redo the scan because I don’t have any symptoms or problems.

newtothegreen · 04/04/2026 19:55

I’ve been taking Mounjaro since August and in late January stated taking HRT via a Mirena coil for the progesterone and patches for oestrogen. This did, for a couple of months, slow my weight loss down but this has levelled out again now and I am losing ok again. It’s never been super quick, but I am happy with my overall loss.
In terms of whether the HRT is proving itself to be effective, I don’t know yet. I’ve read that it can take a good 3-6 months for changes/benefits to show, and I am in that window. I have more energy and, due to the coil, my periods have pretty much stopped (which is a godsend as they were getting to be unmanageable - extremely heavy and unpredictable). Other than that, and I think because symptoms of perimenopause can be difficult to identify, treat and recognise that the treatment has made a difference, I’m not sure.

I have to say I continue to be in awe of everyone on this thread! You are all absolutely smashing it and the inspiration I get from you all is very much appreciated x

Missingducks · 05/04/2026 07:44

Clever @RenegadeKeeblerElf !

Plus, we have been working hard with balanced diets, exercise, planning and so on ... It's "normal" to have a bit of choc occasionally as an Easter treat. It's just that in the old days we'd have had a LOT of choc!

OvertiredandConfused · 05/04/2026 11:45

So I’ve survived my first week off Mounjaro. I’ve lost about 8.5stone in 14 months but had to stop suddenly ahead of gall bladder surgery at the end of this month.

Food noise isn’t much yet at least - I know there’s still plenty in my system - but I am already noticing the impact on my mobility. I have MS and I think it’s really helped with the inflammation generally. And I’ve gained 1lb, despite being well under my maintenance calories and drinking at least 2l of water everyday. Again, I know that’s within the range of normal fluctuations, but it does make me nervous.

I’ve got another two weeks before I do 10 days of the liver shrinkage diet so hoping it even out with that and then hoping to restart a couple of weeks after that. My consultant has said that should be okay as long as there are no complications. Ideally, I’d like to loose another 1st and then stay on a maintenance dose for a while.
