hi, I thought I would start a new group. I am waiting for my medical review before being issued with my first dose

Morning @MoneyJo I'm due to order my next pen this week, and my supplier has recommended I go up to 7.5 (I never know if they recommend an increase because they think it would be best for me, or because they want me to spend more money), but I think I will stick at 5mg for now, mainly because of side effects. Weight loss has definitely slowed down for me though. One of my friends who has been on Mounjaro a lot longer than me has lost most of her weight on 7.5 and she feels that's by far the most effective dose for her. It's not easy to decide is it?

MoneyJo · 01/06/2026 07:35

It's really not easy @ShebaQueen especially as it's so different for everyone. I guess if you did order 7.5 you could still do fewer clicks to get a couple of 5s and then see if you wanted to go up.

taratill · 01/06/2026 10:47

Hi everyone! It's definitely cooler here today. I love the hot weather so I hope it comes back soon.

@ShebaQueen well done on the weight loss, I also think I've handled the heat better with less weight. I'm currently jabbing 3.75 every week so I think it's a similar amount to your 5mg every 10 days.

@MoneyJo 24 lbs since March is great.

@Beehivebabe are you going to splash out on some new clothes for your holiday? I'm sure you will achieve your goal for then!

@Junmaro I think it's amazing your losing so much on such a low dose!

@Darkspiderplant , I'll bet that was just water weight from the hot weather.

@rockstarshoes glad you have no side effects from the increased dose. I've got another 1/2 stone to lose to get to my pre-covid weight so you've done really well!

Definitely know what you mean by it being freeing to be able to eat something a bit more and then be able to get back on track.

Going into a new month I'm going to stick to 3.75 as I'm still losing (albeit quite slowly again). I feel as though it is sustainable and I am still feeling suppression/ full after much smaller portions than I was eating before. It does seem to wear off a bit in the day or two before the next jab is due.

Seriestwo · 01/06/2026 11:29

I dropped off the thread. And paying attention to my diet. Managed to gain 5lb while on the injections, which deserves some sort of prize, but am now 8lb down - I’m counting calories and protein and aiming to burn 500 calories a day in exercise.

I have a wedding in 5 weeks and a very nice dress I’d like to wear, it’s possible, if I drop half a stone. Motivating

taratill · 01/06/2026 12:00

@Seriestwo nothing like a wedding for a bit of weight loss motivation.

LOL at the prize for gaining 5lb.

I make the mistake of weighing daily and I seem to fluctuate a lb or two either way before finally sticking at the lower weight.

I do vague calorie counting but don't weigh, just approximate. I was eating way more before and it is slowly coming off.

MoneyJo · 01/06/2026 13:06

I'm still weighing every day but I have learnt that one day up doesn't mean the general trend has reversed!

Beehivebabe · 01/06/2026 14:50

@MoneyJo @rockstarshoes I agree with both of you about feeling like people who don’t have a weight problem. It’s been eye opening not always thinking about food!

I’ve started pen 2 on 5mg and will stick to this for a while if I can. @ShebaQueen my supplier said to go up to 7.5 for this pen but I didn’t as I’m losing weight still. It has slowed down considerably but that’s ok. I go up and down a bit all week before I drop again I find.

@taratill I think most of my clothes must have been on the tight side as I’m able to still wear most things. I have bought a couple of new things in a 20 (was a good 24) but I’m going to hold off if I can as we are hoping to move soon and so our next holiday could be next year and I’m going to be super positive that I will need to buy much smaller clothes then :)

One major se I have is constipation, and I’m having to take meds every week atm. I have bought some prunes this week!

SmallTreeDeepRoots · 01/06/2026 17:07

@Beehivebabe I get the constipation too, but I’m finding a couple of kiwi fruit do the job. I prefer the golden ones - never a fan of the green ones. Something else to try if the prunes aren’t up to the task! So exciting to be moving AND losing - like a whole fresh start on all fronts! I do like new beginnings.

Seriestwo · 01/06/2026 20:16

Coffee and a walk can help the bowels too. I bought movicol, it tastes rank but does the job

Dontlletmedownbruce · 01/06/2026 20:32

I hit my stone target last week so I'm happy. I haven't been so strict though and need to start calorie counting again.

Anyone have a massive binge? I ate a huge chocolate bar, an enormous duty free one. I was nauseous and also shaky and exhausted and dehydrated for over 2 days. Legs too weak to do any exercise. I wasn't sure if it was my punishment or did I coincidentally come down with a virus.

taratill · 01/06/2026 21:04

On the subject of bowel movement, I've found that a table spoon of chia seed per day in fage yoghurt (left for 15 mins before eating) has really done the trick due to the fibre content.

Prior to that I was struggling a bit.

Also a tip someone once gave me, and sorry if tmi, is to raise your feet above your waist when trying to poo. This naturally assists the movement.

taratill · 01/06/2026 21:06

@Dontlletmedownbruce well done on the stone milestone!

I've really pigged out tonight, as it happens. I jabbed today and then I've eaten ALL THE FOOD.

I'm hoping I don't end up with bad consequences as a result. I've just felt really really hungry today.

This obviously may be a sign that I need to increase dose.

taratill · 01/06/2026 21:07

@Beehivebabe , I think I'm the same with clothes, I definitely don't need new summer ones, they are just a bit looser now thank goodness. Where are you off to on holiday?

Beehivebabe · 01/06/2026 21:45

@taratill. Corfu … have been to loads of Greek islands but never Corfu or Crete.

That’s interesting about chia seeds, think we have some in the cupboard. Worth a try! Coffee and loo positions don’t seem to help at all!

@SmallTreeDeepRoots my daughter suggested kiwi (with the skin) but it actually made me gag. That was the green one tho. Perhaps I should try the golden ones, I’ve seen them in M&S.

Thank you all for the suggestions!

taratill · 01/06/2026 21:55

@Beehivebabe Corfu sounds amazing! The only place I've been to in Greece is Athens, my DS who is now 20 and studying history at university, did a classic civilisations A level so off we went to Athens for the acropolis etc! I really want to go back to Greece to the Islands.

Really hope the constipation sorts itself out, there isn't much worse than feeling bunged up!

Beehivebabe · 01/06/2026 22:48

@taratill. Thank you, i took 4 tabs across sat/sun and so today I haven’t stopped going! But I need to sort it out as can’t keep doing that. It’s messed up my eating today and if I haven’t lost a pound by tomorrow I shall be most upset haha
Bet Athens was interesting - all that culture. Love Greece :)

MoneyJo · 01/06/2026 23:08

I agree about chia. I also take flaxseed. A teaspoon of each in yogurt or cottage cheese is really filling and keeps me regular!

FitHappens · 02/06/2026 00:07

After I did my 4th injection of 3.75mg I ended up in urgent care as I was having severe tummy pains and nausea. Bloods were all fine so was sent on my way… made me nervous to eat anything tbh and was due to go on holiday 5 days later so decided to skip my jab that week so I could try and enjoy my holiday as best I could. I’ve been calorie counting and trying to do 10k steps for 8 weeks before then.. lost 13kg in that time and was told at the hospital this was too much.. feel like I can’t win. Now back from my holiday and put 1kg on, very happy with that as I obviously wasn’t calorie counting etc whilst on my holiday. Came back early hours Sunday morning and have done a 2.5mg injection to see how I get on. Hope you’re all doing well! X

Seriestwo · 02/06/2026 08:41

I hope you are feeling better now, fit.

also, 13kg in 4 weeks? Wow. I’d maybe do that if they cut off a bit of leg

taratill · 02/06/2026 08:42

Goodness me @FitHappens that sounds awful. Really hope you enjoyed your holiday and that you don't have a reaction to the 2.5 mg. Did the drs think that the pain was linked to MJ?

Athens was amazing @Beehivebabe. My son is continuing in his classics obsession this year and is dragging his poor girlfriend to Pompei! She has the patience of a saint!

I'm a little down as I don't think we will be having a major holiday this year as we are nearly at the end stage of a major house extension / renovation. We do own a campervan so I think that we will do something using that instead, just not 100% sure what yet.

taratill · 02/06/2026 08:43

So I ate loads yesterday and scales are down this morning, what on earth is that all about???

Seriestwo · 02/06/2026 08:45

We’re also not having a holiday, Tara.

irs too hard to coordinate with family events . So we’ll go away for a few nights but that’ll be it

Dontlletmedownbruce · 02/06/2026 08:50

taratill · 02/06/2026 08:43

Don't be like me and believe you have broken the system. I've had those weeks and munched my way through the next thinking i can fool my body and ended doubly up. So stupid. Just try to have a good week and hope it reflects reality

taratill · 02/06/2026 09:12

@Dontlletmedownbruce thanks for the advice. A few weeks ago I did have a bit of a food rampage (and no access to scales as I was in the campervan helping my son with something) and I did gain a few pounds. Won't be doing that again, I do find daily weighing keeps me more honest!

@Seriestwo I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a return of last weeks beautiful weather as it won't be so bad if the weather is OK here.

Beehivebabe · 02/06/2026 16:30

@taratill well done on another loss, perhaps yesterdays over indulgence hasn’t hit you yet, but sometimes I think going over can help jolt the body especially if you are consistently eating under calories-wise. I was 2lbs down today which is no surprise after yesterday. I probably won’t lose again till next week now!
