hi, I thought I would start a new group. I am waiting for my medical review before being issued with my first dose

@SmallTreeDeepRoots I cut out refined sugar so no chocolate, cake, pastries. I also cut down on carbs in general so where I could easily do without, then I did, particularly bread. I didn't cut out fructose though - I did still eat fruit.
I've always found that if I cut three things out altogether I lose the appetite for them. I just couldn't keep it up once we got to Christmas!

Dontlletmedownbruce · 23/05/2026 15:28

Well done @MoneyJo and to everyone else losing.

ETPhoneHome19 · 24/05/2026 07:37

My first week on 5mg has gone well, I’ve lost 1.35kg/2.97lbs.
I have been more active this week and drinking more water so that will have had a positive influence too.
Total loss since March 8th is 9.3kg/ 20.5lbs

Well done @MoneyJoon your loss, incredible.

taratill · 24/05/2026 10:01

Amazing loss @MoneyJo , and the sugar thing is really interesting. I find it easy to go low carb on MJ. The only sugar I'm really consuming is in fruit. And the wine that sadly I haven't lost the taste for.

@ShebaQueen I think it is whatever works for you. I spaced the doses a few weeks ago when I forgot to take the pen with me on a break. The issue was that the effect wore off so I was starving by the time I had the next jab.

@ETPhoneHome19 glad that the 5mg has had that effect.

So I can report that 3.75 is working well for me. I lost just under 2kg in a week. I just feel full after a small meal and don't need to snack. So I'm sticking with that till it changes.

How's everyone finding the heat?

MoneyJo · 24/05/2026 10:15

Good about the sugar @taratill I find that a lot of carbs are a waste of calories these days because they're not the tastiest part of any meal.

Junmaro · 24/05/2026 10:59

Has anyone done a golden dose yet? Jab day today for me, and I’ve got a golden dose winking at me. I’m not at all worried about the liquid being ineffective, my only concern is that with the 8mm needles I’ve bought, I will somehow fail to get the sub-cutaneous layer and do an intra-muscular instead. I inject in my thigh.

I have done a couple of golden doses but never needed a separate needle. I have just forced the pen and it has given me the extra dose.

Junmaro · 24/05/2026 11:19

@MoneyJo Did you use your bare hands or some pliers?

MoneyJo · 24/05/2026 11:28

With one I used some small pliers but then I just did it with my hands. You have to push hard but it wasn't difficult.

taratill · 24/05/2026 13:47

Yes I've managed to twist just using my hands. Might as well use it before they stop sending pens with it.

ShebaQueen · 28/05/2026 06:59

Morning all, very quiet on here, how is everyone doing? Weigh day for me today, I'm sticking with 5mg for now, and jabbing every 10 days seems to be working for me, although I still feel a bit nauseous and headachey for the first 2-3 days after jab. Anyway another 0.5kg down, total 12kg.
I have coped with the heat a bit better than I did last summer, and having read a thread on here about how those who have lost loads of weight are loving the heatwave and wearing shorts and vest tops, I feel really inspired to be able to do the same in the future!

Beehivebabe · 28/05/2026 11:38

@ShebaQueen I was thinking it was quiet but it’s half term and holidays. I’ve done 2 lots of 5 now and I also get a bit nauseous the day after jabbing. I’ve lost 37lb now and my next goal is 3stone off for my holiday at the end of July which feels doable. Some clothes are getting too big now which is lovely haha. Well done on your loss too!

ShebaQueen · 28/05/2026 13:11

Ah yes @Beehivebabe that could be it. 37lbs is an incredible weight loss, well done, and I agree, clothes that are too big are a good problem to have 😀

MoneyJo · 28/05/2026 15:23

Is that 37lb since the beginning of March @Beehivebabe ? That's amazing.

I lost another 1lb today so I'm down 24lbs now since starting MJ.

Junmaro · 28/05/2026 15:54

Glad to hear you’re all doing really well. I’m down 21lbs in total, but really need to push the dose up now I think as I’ve stalled a bit.

After a scary start, I’m still only on 35 clicks from the 2.5mg pen. Am going to increase by 5 clicks per week till I do the full dose, and take it from there.

I had 3 stone to lose, so already my loss has made a big difference. No chaffing is the most obvious, plus I am not desperate to take my bra off at the earliest opportunity (dont take that the wrong way 😂!!)

Darkspiderplant · 28/05/2026 20:24

I put on weight this week 😳 oh well. I’m not sure why cos I’ve not eaten any more than normal. My exercise has been less though, I’ve not walked as much as normal.

My weight loss has been very slow (I’ve only lost 1/2 stone since end of march) but at least it is generally going in the right direction.

I took my golden dose yesterday and I feel fine today. Some weeks I’ve felt awful the day after dosing. But I feel fine today. I’ve got one pen in the fridge (same dose, 5mg). I’ll have to stop after that as I can’t afford it any more.

Beehivebabe · 28/05/2026 22:30

@ShebaQueen @MoneyJo. Thank you both! And yes since beg March. However I would say that I’m very obese and I have really stuck to a good diet so far. I am just taking it week by week with no overall end goal yet, just small steps.

Beehivebabe · 28/05/2026 22:32

@Darkspiderplant. My daughter told me she had read that anyone on a diet will struggle to lose this week as the heat makes our body retain water. So blame that!

rockstarshoes · 29/05/2026 09:18

Beehive I thought that about the heat too! I am though 2lb’s down this week but it has been cooler overnight & after 3 trips to the bathroom overnight I think I lost the heat weight!
I went up to a full dose of 5 this week no extra side effects so feeling pretty happy!

rockstarshoes · 29/05/2026 09:27

Looking at the scales this morning the last time I was this weight was pre Covid! I was horrified at how much weight I had put on, I had lost the gym habit & booked some sessions with a personal trainer!
I didn’t really lose any weight, but got a lot fitter and got back in the gym .
Then my mum died, global pandemic, I kept the exercise habit , now here I am 18lb’s down & delighted to be this weight! 🤣
Looking forward to the continuation of this journey - I actually feel like I will get back to where I want to be for the first time in years!

SmallTreeDeepRoots · 30/05/2026 09:36

Still losing but much slower now. Total of 13.6kg in twelve weeks which feels sustainable. I like to pop into the gym and pick up a kettlebell that matches my weight loss - this is surprisingly motivating! Can’t believe I was lugging that around with me everywhere and so glad it has gone. BMI is 36 so almost obese (currently very obese, previously morbidly- nice to not be morbidly anything!).

I fell off the none to run bandwagon as it was too flipping hot but clambered aboard last night and finished week 3 last night (the easier version of c25k). I’m loving it which makes no sense to me whatsoever. Still exercising - classes, weights - and I don’t think I have ever stuck at exercise so long or so easily before. So greatful for mj. Even if I lose no more, it has been a positive addition to my life.

MoneyJo · 30/05/2026 09:47

Last night we went out for a friend's birthday dinner at a lovely restaurant. I ended up having just under 1500 calories there according to their menu.
I haven't gone over 1500 in an entire day since starting MJ but yesterday my total was about 2100. I actually feel fine about this. I know that today I will be back on my new normal and it shouldn't really impact my weight loss beyond this morning.
That feels kind of freeing, to know I haven't blown it.

rockstarshoes · 30/05/2026 09:56

I had a Chinese take away last night, my poor DH has been feeling very deprived!
I ate so much less than I normally would! And chose a chicken curry with boiled rice.
I agree Money it does feel so freeing! I think this must be how people who don’t have a weight problem feel.

MoneyJo · 30/05/2026 10:10

I think this must be how people who don’t have a weight problem feel.
That's exactly what I was thinking @rockstarshoes

MoneyJo · 31/05/2026 23:34

How's everyone doing as we head into a new month? I'm still on 5mgs but have had a bit of a stall again this week. Has anyone gone higher yet?
