Hi @Novjaro, sorry you've been on a similar track to me! This is my first week of splitting my dose in an organised way - had 12.5 on Sunday and am going to jab 2.5 today, as it seems to be after four days or so that my binging kicks in. Fingers crossed!

GnomeDePlume · 19/02/2026 06:51

Thank you for the new thread @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne

Weigh in and jab day

SW 140kg BMI 54.7
CW 94.8kg BMI 37
GW 63kg BMI 24.6

14 stone 13lbs in old money. I'm in the 14s (just)! Slowly creeping down the BMI chart.

I'm still so grateful for mounjaro. I have other things going on which would normally have knocked me off a diet. But the mounjaro keeps going in the background.

The last time I saw this weight I was on Lighter Life VLCD. Hell's teeth that was awful. Great if you need to shift a few stones very quickly but unsustainable.

GnomeDePlume · 19/02/2026 06:57

NSVs!

Both my DDs were struggling with PCOS and went on mounjaro but are now not because they are both pregnant! Which is amazing and wonderful.

Apparently this is not uncommon. Mounjaro is helping with PCOS.

It's interesting seeing your kids and what differences and similarities there are @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne @RenegadeKeeblerElf - I have 3 technically adult kids, one is overweight (not obese but he could definitely head that way if things don't change), one who is underweight (which is even more worrying, he's built like a twig and could blow away in a brisk wind) and my daughter who is absolutely Goldilocks - a brilliant relationship with food and exercise, a curvy size 8/10. Same genetics, raised in the same environment, all very different when it comes to food/weight. Sometimes I wonder what effect it had seeing my behaviour and struggles for the whole of their lives, but don't let myself go down that path too far - there's always something to blame you for as a mum, I did the best I could and am frankly awesome in many other ways!

I think genetics play a huge part, at least with my girls. DH is also blessed with a good metabolism, he can eat anything and stay relatively slim (although he has a bit more of a tummy than he did before I started cooking for him!). My eldest does some exercise but not masses and lives off carbs, and has a BMI of 18.4. my younger daughter has sadly inherited more of my genes (don't know her BMI but it's likely to be closer to 25 - she wears a size 12/Primark medium) and I am extremely conscious of not also passing on my psychology around food. I try very hard not to talk about fat/thin or calorie counting, instead I focus on healthy eating for its own sake and exercise as being for health rather than weight loss. It's hard when there is such a visual difference between them but so far she seems to have a positive body image and understands that she and her sister just have different body types and that's ok. I do want to make sure that as I lose weight I don't get slimmer than her though as I worry what sort of message that would send.

eibbed999 · 19/02/2026 07:17

It's a bit of a minefield @RenegadeKeeblerElf, I know some people on here have struggled since childhood and the reactions of parents play a part in how we feel about ourselves. Sounds like you're walking the tightrope pretty well by focusing on health! Your slimmer daughter might also find that things change as she gets older/potentially has kids etc. You can definitely get away with far more when you're young - all my years of self abuse really caught up with me in my late 20s!

Fantastic news!

Interestingly a friend who is an obstetrician (specialising in diabetes) has mentioned this a few times - she sees loads of women coming through her clinic who have regained their fertility by using mounjaro - make sure they tell their midwife as they may still need a test for gestational diabetes even if their current BMI wouldn't qualify (although PCOS would be a risk factor in its own).

GnomeDePlume · 19/02/2026 09:45

@RenegadeKeeblerElf both DDs being closely monitored. One is diabetic anyway so is having lots of scans and blood tests. She said the diabetes midwife is enjoying(!) having someone who was already diabetic.

The other DD has got my crap blood so is being monitored by a different specialism but monitoring for diabetes as once they are testing for one thing they test for everything else.

But it is interesting that there is a growing recognition that PCOS isnt necessarily caused by BMI.

In fact it is starting to look like high BMI could be a symptom of a lot of things not the cause as we are so often told.

Who would have thought it!

Springflowers2 · 19/02/2026 13:12

Just thinking out loud here
Has anyone tried taking half their dose twice a week
Instead of the full dose once a week.
If you tried this ,did it work ,did it make a difference
I suppose that means getting half the strength in each injection
When your body is used to twice as much.

Doggymummar · 19/02/2026 13:15

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 19/02/2026 00:49

No idea how she stays so skinny with her mostly carb-based diet, she obviously didn't inherit my metabolism!

My DS with ARFID is extremely fit and skinny.
He has a very physical job, too.

Only one of my four DC inherited my predilection for eating far too much.
The others are thin.

Same with my oh, he is arfid and eats fried chicken everyday except Thursday which is burgers. He also drinks about 15 coffees with full fat milk and 5 cans of full fat coke, three magnums and about 5 chocolate bars every night. My shopping costs a fortune I can tell you plus a packed of fags a day

Did, I gained ten pounds but it was over Christmas so not sure if it was jab or food. Since I went back to full 15 I am losing about a pound a week

I loved lighter life and Cambridge I lived on three flapjacks a day

Yeah I can see how our bodies are used to the full amount..it probably won't make a difference

I am trying a variation of that at the moment @Springflowers2 - I'd noticed that my food noise and resultant binging tended to start on about a Thursday (I jab on Sundays) So I took 12.5,g on Sunday, and 2.5mg this morning. No idea as yet if it will help, but I'm hopeful - willing to try anything to shut my stupid brain up at the moment! I only have to think the word 'Wagamama' and I'm on bloody Deliveroo ordering one! Really hoping I won't be the same this week, because apart from anything else, I can't afford both WLIs and takeaways - it's really got to be one or the other! I'll let you know how I get on.

Yes. I did this for a while and it worked really well. I was on 7.5mg and found that I was unable to eat for a few days and then was eating too much for a few days. So I reduced it to 5mg and was jabbing every 5 days. It worked really well and I was able to eat well, but stay within my limit each day. There wasn't the big fluctuations.

I have gone up to 10mg now and am back to jabbing every 7 days as it seems to be staying quite stable and it's going well. But if it stops being so effective I will do the same and reduce the dose and jab every 5 days for a while, rather than upping it.

Lovely news @GnomeDePlume congrats to you all!

@Novjaro glad you were ok after your fall, not being able to get up used to be a massive fear of mine so it's a definite NSV you were able to get up.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 19/02/2026 16:53

@RenegadeKeeblerElf I wish my mum had been more like you, maybe I wouldn’t have had the relationship with food that I have had. You sound wonderful ☺️

@GnomeDePlume that’s just the best news ever! Congratulations to you all.

@Springflowers2 I suppose I do a variation of this, I jab 8mg every 5 days and for me it works well, but I’m not looking for full on suppression, I want to feel hungry for meal times and know the difference between thirst and hunger - I’ve come to realise that I still confuse the two.

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 19/02/2026 17:37

@Iwouldratherbesinging my issues with food definitely stem from childhood too - my mother used to go to a diet centre (in America, quite medicalises but very much 80s diet culture - bran muffins etc) and I sometimes went with her, and followed it myself for a while when I was 10, I remember I lost 15lbs. I also remember my grandfather telling me I needed to lose weight, then a few hours later coming back from the paper shop with a bag of sweets for me! And my morbidly obese father doesn't see anything wrong with commenting on the body shape of female athletes if they are anything other than skinny, so all told it's no wonder I am the way I am! I don't blame them though, we know so much more than we did then, but I am very conscious of stopping it with this generation and giving my daughters a better start than I had.

TragicMuse · 19/02/2026 17:59

What a great NSV for your daughters @GnomeDePlume how exciting for you all!

My NSV today is that I am wearing trousers I’ve had for over 20 years. They fit, they aren’t too muffin-y, they’re a vintage (old!) M&S 16. I’m so chuffed! I have them in 2 colours, one was always slightly looser despite being the same range and size, though I can’t remember which one!

I’m also wearing an old Bravissimo top with built-in bra, also over 20 years old!

As my husband said this morning, it’s lucky I didn’t get rid of this stuff or sell it! I’d have nothing to wear!

PearlsTeapot · 19/02/2026 19:52

That's fab that you're wearing your old clothes @TragicMuse like shopping for free from your own wardrobe!

MCR24 · 19/02/2026 20:53

Weighed this morning lost 0.6kg / 1 lb and 5.2 oz which is a loss from last week but first loss in a while

SW: 142.8kg / 22 stone, 6 lb and 13.1 oz
CW: 68.6kg / 10 stone, 11 lb and 3.8 oz
Total loss: 74.2kg / 11 stone, 9 lb and 9.3 oz
BMI: 50.8 / 24.4

To get to mid BMI: 8.6kg / 1 stone, 4 lb and 15.4 oz

Away this weekend but using OMAD I should be able to stick to calories even when eating out.

PearlsTeapot · 19/02/2026 21:06

Absolutely amazing loss @MCR24 enjoy your weekend away! Are you going anywhere nice?

TragicMuse · 19/02/2026 22:08

I’ve got my diabetes follow-up tomorrow morning - blood sugars in the normal range!

My GP has also reduced my thyroxine dose too.

I’m feeling really quite healthy!!

Yeah I might try something like this, or jab every 6 days… Worth a go!
