February 2026 starters

Crossfitgirl · 30/01/2026 12:00

Hi all, I have my first pen on the way and as far as I can see there is no starter thread for Feb, so I hope it's ok to make one.
All welcome whether recently started or looking to start this month - I think by the time mine arrives it will probably be February!
Hoping for support, experiences, recommendations, more support and the rest!

I am nearly 40, 2 young kids and full time job, starting on wegovy, with the goal of lowering my cholesterol (and reducing my huge belly).

@InstantRegret I’m on WG. Did Week 1 on 0.25. Moved up to 0.5 and have stayed on that dose ever since. I‘m in week 13. I’ve gone from 15.4 to 13.6 which is more than fast enough loss for me, I’m aiming for below 12.

The main side effects are that I’m not as regular as I was, everything slowed down, and at the same time I have to be very careful not to eat anything too oily or it flies through me.

I’m not calorie counting. I’ve changed my diet and reduced portion size. I still eat out but make much better choices.

I think I may be lucky that so far it’s working for me.

InstantRegret · 12/05/2026 22:40

Thank you @DanaScullysLegoHair and @soupmaker that’s all reassuring to know.
I feel nervous all over again 😬

Rosetime · 12/05/2026 23:01

@RedApplePie , how are you today?

Rosetime · 13/05/2026 10:46

Anyone feeling tired from trying to lose weight? The meal planning, ensuring you are staying active, getting some strength training etc? It's alot of thinking and making sure 'you are doing ....' .
This week especially i am waking up in the mornings drained. Ready for bed at 8pm!!
I want that i feel lighter, full of energy etc etc that people always talk about when they are losing/have lost weight.

DanaScullysLegoHair · 13/05/2026 17:19

Hey @Rosetime, yes - me! I am happy to have lost the weight I have in just over 3 months but the whole thing is indeed tiring. Maybe we're all at a specific point in the 'journey' where the initial enthusiasm has worn off and it's just life now?

Sorry you're feeling meh. I've had a poor week sleep-wise and it is really impacting everything and I have such a lot to do. I'm not sure if it is just a good old fashioned bit of overwhelm or a side-effect of the Wegovy. I can't decide.

Chin up, keep going 💪

Rosetime · 12/05/2026 23:01

@RedApplePie , how are you today?

I’m a lot better, thanks for asking. Sort of dreading my next dose on Friday now, but I would say by the end of Sunday/Monday morning, I was more or less feeling ok. Saturday had also been ok, just quite tired. Trying to remind myself that when I first started, all this disappeared by the 4th dose, and might even be less this time. I definitely have appetite suppression but food noise is still vibing a bit. So I’m rather too frequently finding myself at the fridge door and then feel a bit bleurgh when I open it. I hadn’t really appreciated till I started MJ though that my head was full of food thoughts all the time, and there wasn’t a pause between the thought and eating. MJ creates the pause at least because when I go to eat I do realise I really don’t want to. But I wish the chatter would stop because until it does, I think it will always feel quite hard. Having said that 23/24 lbs down in 15 weeks so it’s working. But still not easy! It’s definitely support, not cure.

Rosetime · 13/05/2026 17:50

Thanks @DanaScullysLegoHair . Nice not to feel alone. Sorry, you have had a poor week. Hope your sleep gets better.

I had a good loss (2.2kg) from the week before when i weighed on Sunday. I thought, i should be feeling fired up. It's the first time since this Mj journey, i felt a little difference in how my body felt before the scales confirmed it (i still look the same and clothes fit the same).

Rosetime · 13/05/2026 18:22

@RedApplePie , glad you are better. Are you staying on 3mg? Because of the food noise? Good thing you didn't go straight to 5mg.

Diddlydoowap · 13/05/2026 20:48

Is anyone taking more than 5mg of Mounjaro? I'm feeling quite despondent after 3 months very slow loss and now a week maintaining and a week gaining. I'm just not feeling the suppression and every day is a battle of willpower. I think I just don't respond well to the drug! My only side effect is coldness for a couple of days a week, which feels like I'm getting off lightly, but it's not serving its purpose at this dose and costing a fortune!

Yes, me. I've just done my 13th jab this evening, now on 10mg from today. Have weighed in 12.8kg lighter this morning, but have had suppression from the start with 2.5mg. I have been increasing after each pen as I'm an NHS patient, the goal under NHS is to reach 15mg instead of being on the lowest dose possible. I've also been lucky side effect wise, biggest thing for me is feeling cold and if I don't increase my water for a couple of days after jab I get a headache.

Edit: I have also had a week of maintaining and a week of gaining. I was told by my nurse that is quite normal and weight loss is never linear. As long as the trend is downwards overall, they are happy.

Diddlydoowap · 13/05/2026 21:30

Thanks @StatisticalStitches Interesting that the NHS is actively trying to get you to the highest dose. I wonder if that is to achieve the fastest weight loss and minimise the time on the prescription? I'm going to click up to 6mg next time and see if it makes a difference. I might get a placebo effect at least!
I'm also a bit annoyed because I was sure I had lost a dress size as clothes are looser, but I bought a load of clothes a size down on Vinted and all the bottoms are too tight still. So I've lost half a size (and it's all come off my already tiny boobs😭)

soupmaker · 13/05/2026 21:57

@Diddlydoowap I bought a pair of jorts from Sainsbury’s. Was all excited as I’m fitting in old clothes at the back of the wardrobe and jeans I’ve not been in in years. Bloody waist is too tight on the jorts, even though I’ve lost over a stone and a half and only sized down one size.

I think I will for another week at least. Can’t risk being worse than I was with the last dose. It was such a small increase I’m reluctant to drop down again, but def not woman enough to go up till I settle on this dose.

I also tried these and found them extremely tight. I’m very comfortably into a 14 in all my other clothes and I’ve even got some of my more forgiving 12s out of the loft and they are comfortable, and I found the 16 horribly tight round the waist in these. On that basis, I say confidently that it’s them, not us!

Week 13. 13.6 on the scales this morning. I’m wondering if the last 2 weeks are a whoosh and I’ll plateau the next few weeks. I’ve stuck to 0.5 WG because it seems to be working. Running outdoors going well, easily managed 6k and have signed up for a 10k later in the year. Food wise I’ve been sticking to smaller portions of what ever I’ve cooked and having salads or soup for lunch. I even happily ate one square of DH’s fancy dark chocolate without craving another. The butter consumption in our house has plummeted as I’m not spreading it thickly on toast morning, noon and night. Hope everyone else had a good week.

It’s week 14, I’m 13.4 on the scales. I’ve only gone and lost 2 stone in the three months since I started the WG. My waist is 6 inches smaller and my BMI has gone from 31.6 to 27.5. And I’m out running again. Off for a celebratory haircut this morning.

Will be retuning the bloody jorts @RedApplePie- so it’s a two fingered salute to Sainsbury’s!

It is definitely Tu, not 'me' 😆

I'm here all week!

TheEgg2 · 14/05/2026 13:24

Hi all, good to hear your loss @DanaScullysLegoHair.

@RedApplePie don’t forget that each week gets easier when moving up a dose even it’s tiny!

I’ve gone wild (!) and risked a Wk 14 increase to 2.75mg and my head is killing me, felt foul yesterday and not so great today with a Day 4 of constipation and belching too - I must be a joy to live with!
I thought I’d post my last 4 weeks results to see if anyone can make sense of them. I’m in a fairly constant routine of food intake and exercise but this is what happened :
Week 11: 0.7 lb loss (2.25 mg)
Week 12: 0.5 lb loss (2.25mg)
Week 13: 3.2 lbs gain (2.5mg)
Week 14: 4 lbs loss (2.5mg)

WTAF is going on with my silly body, eh?!

soupmaker · 14/05/2026 18:09

Thanks @DanaScullysLegoHair I am feeling so much more healthy and fit. The damn jorts have been returned but today sitting looking in the hair salon mirror I actually felt really good about myself. I look so much slimmer in the face and the mild rosacea has definitely got even milder - no red chin today even though I’d cycled to the salon.

Hurray for your loss in week 14 @TheEgg2. Sorry you’ve got such horrible side effects. Fingers crossed they reduce quickly.

You are doing so well to hang in there, I know it hasn’t been easy. You’ve got a net loss so that’s positive. While a (sensible and grown up!) part of me doesn’t want fast loss for very good medical reasons, another part is thinking ‘all this money for a very slow loss, surely I could diy it?’ (Spoiler - past experience shows I can’t!)

Haha. I saw what you did there 😂

Crossfitgirl · 14/05/2026 20:14

Well done on the 2 stone @soupmaker ! @DanaScullysLegoHair haha please come again!
@TheEgg2 overall it's a pattern of loss, so I'd go with the gain week being a blip / anomaly as things are continuously to go down - see that as a positive!

@Rosetime I am absolutely fed up and exhausted, I know what you mean. My DH is now working away for the foreseeable so I'm solo parenting and work is just shit, I'm absolutely exhausted. I nearly rang in sick today just because I felt so tired I genuinely didn't think I could cope!

I think I'm going to make things easy for myself and order ready meals for the next few weeks - maybe one of those meal prep subscriptions, or if anybody knows / can advise of decent supermarket ready meals with high protein and not too processed, I will grab some. I have most supermarkets near other than Waitrose or M&S.

I just don't have the brain power to think let alone cook, I never fancy whatever I have in and I haven't had the energy to exercise. My weight has not changed for ages and I'm so down in the dumps now, I honestly feel like I'm battling against everything and even with these bloody jabs it's just not working.

I do think I look slimmer and my jeans are looser so I know I'm making progress but I am really stuck!!

Really sorry to hear that @Crossfitgirl . Having to deal with no change in weight when you are working hard to lose weight is just HARD. I had that stall for 5 weeks, it really plays with the mind. Also, you are juggling a lot. I agree, be kind to yourself.

I sometimes get the M&S ready meals, wide range, very tasty and some are minimally processed but i have just checked again, M&S is one of the only two shops that are not near you. Sorry, not very helpful.

I have used HelloFresh in the past. Loved them. Lots of healthy options. A friend that has also used HelloFresh in the past and like it, is currently using Gousto and has nothing but positive feedback. Hope that is helpful.

@RedApplePie , how are you today? Really hope you are coming through it.

Today, i tried hard to push through this feeling of 'upset' and exhaustion i was having from this whole weight loss palaver. I really need good sleep and more water. In the last 24 hours my water intake wasn't great.

Hope everyone is okay and still enthusiastic about this course we have set sail for.

RedApplePie · 15/05/2026 10:13

I’m sorry to hear it’s all a bit rubbish crossfitgirl. Do everything you can to cut hassle out of your life. I’ve used HelloFresh in the past and quite liked it. Solo parenting is shit and try to trust the jab is going it’s work in the background and doing a metabolic reset, even if the weight loss has stopped for a bit.

I nervously took another 3mg this morning although gut not quite settled after the last one. Pharmacist suggested yesterday that I try enterosgel. She said the 💩 can sometime be caused by excess bile acid as a result of the jab and the gel sort of mops it up so it doesn’t irritate the gut lining in the same way. Watch this space. This is the stuff. www.enteromed.co.uk/pages/weight-loss-jabs

Castlebark · 15/05/2026 11:44

Weigh in day, week 13.

SW 122.7kg (BMI 45.1)
CW 106.4kg (BMI 39.1)

1kg down this week, but it's definitely slowed, so less than 3kg over the last 4 weeks. I know this is still a steady loss, but I still have a loooooong way to go!

My energy levels are really flat, but since starting MJ, my aches and pains have all but gone, so I seem to be more active.

TheEgg2 · 15/05/2026 12:47

Hi all, thanks for the positivity and I’ve only had the awful headache for 48 hours so feeling LOADS more positive.

@Crossfitgirl I brought my twins up a single parent (their Dad made my life hell for many years and then walked out when they were two). I was so broke that I took to batch cooking and it genuinely is do much better once you get into the swing of it. I’d take a couple of hours when the children are in bed and try and cook up some of your favourites and then stuff the freezer full. I’m a big fan of the Batch Cooking Queen and a couple of online people I can refer you too. You can order M&S food via Ocado if they deliver in your area (and you can afford it) and their High protein meals are great. You can also reuse the tubs for batching! I seem to be eating loads of the high protein yogurts when feeling pants and thru keep me going for a couple of hours. I also find anything made out of eggs is also good protein and filling - I make up a Spanish omelette or tortilla and then eat that in slabs during the week.

@soupmaker TWO stone, wowser, well done!
