February 2026 starters

Crossfitgirl · 30/01/2026 12:00

Hi all, I have my first pen on the way and as far as I can see there is no starter thread for Feb, so I hope it's ok to make one.
All welcome whether recently started or looking to start this month - I think by the time mine arrives it will probably be February!
Hoping for support, experiences, recommendations, more support and the rest!

I am nearly 40, 2 young kids and full time job, starting on wegovy, with the goal of lowering my cholesterol (and reducing my huge belly).

Re: protein needs, have you considered ready-made high protein meal delivery services such as Frive, Simmer Eats, etc? I tend to pick the meals with 40-50g each. Have one for lunch, one for dinner, and top up your favourite drink with vegan protein (32g per scoop), and you’ll easily hit 112 - 132g a day.

Thanks, that is a good shout. I'll have a look. I am particularly busy at the moment so that could take a lot of brainpower back 😁

DanaScullysLegoHair · 27/04/2026 10:35

I'm up for an accountability check in @TheEgg2. Like you, alcohol is the one thing that derails my progress. I totally understand where you're coming from on that. It has been a lovely few days and I have had a few beers 2 days in a row. Happily, I have a lot less than I used to and can just knock it on the head when I've had enough. I am definitely a 'weekend warrior' binge-drinker - when I'm on, I'm on, othwerwise I don't bother. I KNOW 100% that I need to address that in order to have better health and lower weight going forward.

As for the bikini - yes! I am a size 14 and weigh 11st 12 at the moment. I look a bit overweight for my size/shape and more than I am happy with. I hope to get to about 10st so still a fair bit to go. As I previously said, it isn't just about weight but the changes I need to make considering the chronic illnesses that run in the family. I'm hoping what I do now will lessen the risk for me within the next 15-20 years.

I really do need to get a handle on this new lifestyle.

I hope you don't suffer moving up to 2.5mg, hang on in there.

TheEgg2 · 29/04/2026 09:43

Morning all, how is everyone?
I think a lot of us are coming up to our three month/12 week anniversary and think we all deserve a big pat on the back for our staying power. I mean, how many diets/weight loss approaches have you abandoned by this stage, eh?! I know WLI are different but it’s still not easy.
I’m back up to 2.5mg as of yesterday. Background headache since despite electrolytes and 2 litres of water, grrh. I’m also trying to see the “funny side” of how tidying my bedroom has resulted in weight gain……moved my scales to a hard surface and this morning I was nearly 2lbs heavier!!! To be fair, both the pharmacist and someone else’s scales did weigh me heavier so I’m just going to have to suck it up 🤣
I’m now on a holiday countdown as off to Madeira on 18th of June and I’d really like to have shifted through the 12 stone weigh ins by then. Currently on 13 st 1 lbs but have dipped down to 12:12 on some days. I’m getting v conscious of the cost of WLI and how I only really can afford this for a year and need/want to hit a healthy BMI that is 10:4……

pelagra · 29/04/2026 10:11

Thanks for asking @TheEgg2 I'm celebrating today as I've just achieved 1 stone down, and that is the weight the crosses me from obese to over weight.

That is after 11 weeks on Wegovy. I only went up to 1mg this last week, having click counted .75 for a couple of weeks before. This feels like the right dose for me. The digestive side effects are much less, and I can stick to my calorie counted meal plans without much effort.

Cookiedough123 · 29/04/2026 18:43

My loss has definitely slowed down than the beginning but I’ve lost nearly 30lbs! I’ve also just got under 13st so I’m finally in the 12s! Pre baby I was 12st 4 so my goal is 12st. I delayed taking my dose last week and shaved 1m 30 off my 5k time, so I definitely think it has an effect on my energy levels and fatigue. I think I’m going to leave this as my last pen, I get diarrhoea the first few days and it takes my tummy a while to settle on 5mg and I also want to try and do a bit more running which I think I’ll be better at when I’m off the pen. But maybe I’ll be back after realising I’m starving again! My BMI was over 30 and it’s now 26.7. When I get to 12st my BMI should be in the normal range so I probably won’t get it prescribed then anyway!

WhoInvitedHer · 29/04/2026 18:51

8.5kg down in 11 weeks for me. I’m actually really pleased as have never lost that in my life before although many have lost more I’m sure.

StatisticalStitches · 29/04/2026 21:54

Weigh in no.10 for me today, 9.8kg down in 10 weeks. I'm now on 7.5mg MJ, going up to 10mg next week.

soupmaker · 30/04/2026 07:00

soupmaker · 23/04/2026 08:46

Week 11. 13.12, a lb down. Happy with that as jumped on the scales earlier in the week and it looked like I’d been putting on. Looks like the weight loss might be slowing down now but happy with slow and steady. Body shape has definitely changed, had to buy a belt for wearing jeans. Would be lovely to lose at least another half a stone before our summer holiday in July.

Week 12. Unbelievably the scales read 13.8 this morning. I don’t feel like I’ve lost 4lbs but I ate out at the weekend for lunch and had a beautiful bowl of onion soup which resulted in a complete clear out, which may have something to do with it. Also, I’ve ran 5k outdoors twice this week. The sunshine makes such a difference. Did the second one solo and it actually felt really good.

Rosetime · 30/04/2026 13:29

11 weeks for me today. 11th jab later today. I weigh in on Sunday mornings.
I am losing slowly and steadily (had a 4 week stall and then a whoosh). I have lost a stone. Almost half way of losing the second stone. ChatGPT estimates i would lose the second stone by mid/later June.
Gradually getting back into calisthenics and running.
I am beginning to enjoy getting fitter. Long may it continue🙏🏾

Sorry I haven't checked on the thread in a few days! @DanaScullysLegoHair The couple of good styles costume I have are this one:

https://www.next.co.uk/style/ST450791/H55796

And this one

https://www.next.co.uk/style/SU228092/706554

The colours / patterns change every year, I like the plunge ones but I don't have big boobs, so don't know if that makes a difference but both are super flattering and they have quite a lot of tummy control swimwear in their own brand and I find them really good quality - worth the money in my opinion as I think they're a bit pricey. X

Thanks so much, I really like them both style-wise. I'll have a nosy in Next, I'll probably pick other things up too. Also going to look in M&S as their plain basic swimsuits have good reviews, there is a nice blue and white one I've seen.

Morning all,

How are we all doing? Looking forward to the Bank Hol weekend? Looks as if is going to be a bit iffy weather-wise, hope everyone has nice things to look forward to.

I have weighed myself this morning and have lost 1lb, down to 11st 11lbs now. 20lbs off in total. My period is imminent so I'm a little confused at the weightloss as I tend to retain water. I've been keeping track of my calories on Nutracheck and a couple of days I have gone up to 200 cals over. My allowance is set at 1400 but I did notice the last time I had a high calorie day, I lost a lb or 2 then. It seems to work in my favour.

I've had my first 1.7mg Wegovy injection and the second is due tomorrow. On the Voy app, I have to decide in the next 2 days if I want to move up to 2.4mg or not. They will send it out next week, it is because I received the very first pen and waited 2 weeks to start. I am undecided as I feel it is too early to tell how effective the 1.7mg is.

It will be £19 more to get the 2.4mg over the 1.7mg pen. I did think I could just get it and click less, at least I have the option of going up if I want to then. On the other hand, I am losing weight but very steadily. My appetite really spiked after the first 1.7mg jab and I realise now it is probably my impending period that makes me ravenous. The protein shakes seem to help with feeling full.

Any input appreciated guys. Have a fab weekend.

With Voy, you can change your delivery date and delay it by a week or two without having to contact them, you can do it in the app. Could you delay it a bit so you have more time to decide?
Otherwise, I'd order the 2.4 and then either tell them you can't tolerate it (they can advise onndoijg partial dosing at this point - I was told this when I asked about it on their app so I think they'd just ok it) so you can do it over 6 weeks or so, or just don't tell them and store the next pen in the fridge?

I seem to have days where I eat next to nothing and then others where I eat a lot more, and the losses are still steady ISH (albeit very slow for me!). How often are you weighing? I'm generally weighing twice a day - first thing when my weight is at it's absolute lowest, and in the evening before bed (because my initial weight in the Voy app when I first ordered was in the evening at my heaviest, so I wanted to compare to this when I look at how much I've lost). Weighing daily has really helped me to see how much your weight really does fluctuate over the week, and also through the day. The general pattern is downwards but it can be a lb or two either way day to day!

I have finally gone up to 0.5 wegovy at the start of month 4, and I've definitely found a sweet spot this week after slowly creeping up the mgs. My appetite is nicely suppressed and no side effects!
I'm struggling to drink though so I'm keeping an eye on that - I have the driest mouth!

I attended a plateau talk with Voy and it's made me realise I've actually slacked off a bit with everything - probably resonating with PP about keeping going for this long where I would usually have given up months ago! I'm back to prioritising protein, trying to plan ahead for cravings and keeping up with exercise, so I'm hoping to push myself the next couple of months.

I've got another 3 months worth of the jab, as I didn't realise my 3 month plan went to another 3 month plan instead of just going to a rolling monthly. Just as well really, as I do need to keep on it longer and perhaps that means I can taper down if I get to goal in the next 8 weeks.

Also, I am debating telling someone IRL!

I have a friend who is separate from my regular friendship group, don't see very often and I'm meeting her tonight for the first time in months.
I feel she won't judge me and it would be nice to tell someone - I have still not told a single soul including DH.

Has anyone else who was hiding it at first come clean? I still don't intend to tell anyone else.

Well this week eldest DC asked me if I was on MJ. She’d seen the WG box in the fridge and was the only person in the house when my new pen was delivered. So I came clean and admitted I was taking weight loss medication to help lose weight to stop me getting T2 diabetes. I said it wasn’t a secret but that I wasn’t telling people apart from DH. I’ve always told the kids never to lie to me so I couldn’t not tell her.

Friends are now noticing that I’ve lost weight but haven’t asked how I’ve done it. Some have noticed I’ve upped my exercise and I’ve told them I’m making a real effort to be more healthy due to a health scare, all of which is true just not the whole story.

Went an 11 mile hike today with DH and planning on a quiet weekend as weather isn’t going to be great. Oldest DC away and youngest DC happy to chill and relax all weekend. May try and see if we can do the cinema (no sweets or popcorn for me, just an iced coffee).

I’ve ordered 0.5 WG again for pen 4 as it seems to be working for me.

Rosetime · 03/05/2026 16:22

I have told a friend. But no one else.
Regretting telling friend now, though.

Haven't told DC or family. DC are totally not bothered. Family (4 people) would be a mix of - opposed to it, judgemental, 'why should you have it and not me'/'why should it work for you and not me' and approving/supportive.

I weighed today. After my whoosh, i have gained 1kg! ChatGPT predicted it to be fair but i was still surprised and quite upset. My body is holding on to water!

InstantRegret · 03/05/2026 19:24

Has anyone switched from MJ to WG? I’m thinking I may have to due to cost but wanted to hear any experiences first 🙂

RedApplePie · 04/05/2026 07:33

Morning everyone, had a lot going on and been MIA for a few weeks. Still trucking on and secretly jabbing though. Told no one yet. I’ve just finished my third 2.5 pen (had 14 jabs in total). I was keen to go up as I hadn’t really lost for 5 weeks but not to 5mg straight away, and I thought I was going to have to do click counting secretly too, but in the end the pharmacist brought it up as an option, worked out different click options for me and gave her blessing, so I feel much more reassured. I can’t really afford side effects atm for various complicated and boring reasons, so I’m going to try 3mg first and see how that goes. I finally FINALLY broke my 5 week stall and after a week of not weighing saw 12.12 on the scale yesterday. I thought I was never going to get past 13 something. So that’s just over 21 pounds off in 14 weeks with pretty minimal side effects after the first couple of weeks. I was also having routine bloods done for another drug I have to take long term and asked if they could check my HBA1C at the same time. Six months ago it was 5.6 which was definitely creeping up, this time it was 5. I was delighted about that. My inflammatory markers have been slightly over the top end of the range for years also, although they were holding steady and not increasing. This time - bang in the middle of the range! So even though I wasn’t actively losing weight in the last few weeks, it was clearly having a metabolic impact, which is amazing. So all good - the only real issue I have now is where to put the damn pen. If I’m click counting it will last more than a month, which pharmacist said was fine if refrigerated during use. So far I’ve been buying a pen on the day I need to jab, so opening it straight away and then just storing it at room temp. Nothing in the fridge is sacred. My DH is always rootling about in there and anything new reliably piques his interest, whether it a bag, tube or jar. The kids think nothing of moving everything about to find a hidden delight. I’ve been thinking about a skin care fridge but I keep reading that they can be a fire hazard so I’m stumped.

Rosetime · 04/05/2026 11:10

@RedApplePie , congratulations on the end of your stall! Feels good, doesn't it?
The dilemma of where to store your pen... let's see if we can help.
How do you store your eggs? In the fridge? Do you keep them in their pack or take them out and put in the fridge's egg rack? Because the egg rack is usually in an out of the way place, i wrap my pen in kitchen towel.. the white blends in with the fridge and i place it underneath (to the side of) the egg rack. It is well concealed there. Also there are some odds & ends right next to it, so that also helps.

A colleague, stores hers in an ice bag in her wardrobe. She has done this for about 8 months now. She has a thermometer in the bag and frequently changes the ice-packs in the bag around. Lives with in-laws and her DH is opposed to WLIs (he has gone with the negative press even though his brother is diabetic, is on semaglutide and has lost weight & looking very healthy).

Sorry, wish I could be more helpful.

soupmaker · 04/05/2026 21:44

Not sure I can be of much help @RedApplePie as my WG lives in its cardboard sleeve on the fridge door behind the wasabi and tomato purée tubes. I honestly don’t think you’ve any chance of hiding it away from the rummagers in your house. Cool box in the bottom of the wardrobe with ice packs?

I just left mine open for 6 weeks. 🤷
I did have to put one in the fridge recently as I forgot to change my order date after click counting so it needed refrigeration before I opened it. On the days DH was here (he worked away part of the week) I used the ice packs that the jab came with and put them in one of the kids insulated lunch boxes with the pen, then put it under some handbags in a drawer in the wardrobe.

Would your DH notice an ice pack or two being swapped about or not being in the freezer if you did this? Just keep swapping the packs every 24 hours?

I couldn't hide mine in the fridge reliably either, DH has regular clear outs and would 100% find it!

Crossfitgirl · 04/05/2026 23:56

Haha just read the other two posts about hiding it in the bottom of the wardrobe! It's clearly a good shout!
I did hide mine in the bag of carrots for a day...but I was definitely paranoid DH would find it.
But yeah I think mini fridge in the bedroom or ice packs and a good hiding place.
What about work? Is there a different fridge you could store it in during the week? I thought about putting it in a lunch bag in my work staff fridge but it only covers 4 days of the week and I'm not always in the office, so not convenient for me.

I sound ridiculous with all this subterfuge don’t I? The fridge is the only place there is an issue with no damn privacy, DH would never go rummaging in my wardrobe. Girls might if they are looking for something to ‘borrow’ but are very specific in their searches. I just wonder if I could keep on top of ice blocks for an extended period. I mean it’s a weird thing to do, isn’t it. I’d be curious if I saw something talking them upstairs even once. No one would be interested in a mini fridge especially if I said it was skin care for menopause. Girls would be too scared they’d catch The Old if they filched it, husband would be disinterested. I just got antsy about them as one client I go to has posters up saying they pose a significant fire risk and must not be brought into offices for personal use. Interesting you just left it out crossfitgirl. I may just risk that. I doubt it would do harm, just potentially make it less efficacious as time goes on. It currently lives quite happily in my wardrobe for a month so I guess I’d only be adding two/three weeks. I never really appreciated how committed the people I live with are to fridge rummaging till I started this. Bloody husband is always investigating the contents for something!
