Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 12!

A supportive, idea-sharing thread for those with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. We're a mixture of newbies, nearly theres, there and maintaining and we know what it's like to have what can seem like a mountain to climb - but we also know we can do it!

Nothing is off topic except referral codes 😊

@GiveMeWordGames you look amazing and I love the dress.

@MooBaggage hope that you feel better soon.

So I have not posted much recently as feeling rather fed up with lack of progress. I switched to Wegovy to save money but it hasn't worked for me - I thought that I just needed to increase the dose but I am on 1 now and still no joy. I seem to have side effects but not the positive effects. So I am going to switch back to mounjaro. About 35kg down but another 20-25 to go.

On a more positive note the weight training is going well and I am having a love affair with my shoulders. I am picturing cold shoulder and bardot style tops this summer!

Also hoping they’ll help. Not sure if it’s enough but here are my new best friends

That's a great start! It's just about getting used to the idea at first and building routine. You'll know yourself when it might be time to go up in weights because your usual reps will begin to feel too easy.

StatisticalStitches · 18/02/2026 22:11

Hi, please can I join you all? I did my first 2.5mg injection of Mounjaro tonight. Have 60kg to lose, so I'm here for the long haul!

YellowStockings · 18/02/2026 22:16

Welcome @StatisticalStitches - I joined last month and am already seeing the benefits! This is a lovely, supportive group.

YellowStockings · 18/02/2026 22:20

I can’t remember who suggested supermarket clothes for replacing too-big clothes, but thank you! Just picked up a pair of perfectly fine size 20 jeans for £5 in the sale - they fit really well (with space in the waistband rather than squeezing to do up the button!) and will tide me over for a little while. Also picked up some XL joggers for wearing at home - turns out they were comically huge so have to return them.

I think I’d really been a size 22 for a while (though in my head I was still an 18 lol) so it’s nice to be moving in the right direction. Going to get rid of my too-big trousers I think, keeping them feels like an invitation to regain weight.

MooBaggage · 19/02/2026 06:38

Hello @StatisticalStitches ! You're very welcome here 😊* *

I also had about 60kg to lose, so know it feels like a ridiculously high mountain to climb.... I'm still scaling it, with about 15kg to go - getting there....

Keep us posted with how you're getting on 💪

Welcome @StatisticalStitches!

Congratulations on making this decision to take MJ (it took me a loong time, but no regrets really; we all wish we had taken it earlier!)

@YellowStockings - great progress. It feels so good to notice changes in clothes fitting, doesn’t it?
I’m going to a birthday party this weekend and awfully hoping that my rather funky Zara blouse which I bought in December will finally fit me.

MooBaggage · 19/02/2026 06:46

@YellowStockings it's such a good feeling isn't it?! And such a headfuck when you start to realise you're a smaller size...! I'm a big fan of George at Asda clothes - other than Vinted it's the only place I've bought stuff at in the last 12 months - their knickers are pretty good and I got a couple of vest tops a bit ago.

Definitely try Vinted though aswell if you can - you can pick things up at such low prices, it's worth the gamble of things not fitting or you not liking them. Mind you, I'm trying to curb my Vinted addiction at the moment 🙄

I'm trying to get out of my current grump about being broken and not losing for the past couple of weeks - I have a secret wedding to go to at the beginning of June!! A friend of mine has asked me to be a witness at their v small, secret wedding 😍

I am beyond excited - have never been a witness/bridesmaid/anything at a wedding! Obvs therefore it's all about me 😁 The main question being what the hell do I wear?!

With any luck, I'll be a really comfortable size 16 (possibly 14?!) - which is bonkers... so am starting to think about killer dresses (as @alltablenochairs would say!) - possibly even buying something new... 😮

Gives me something to look forward to!

SecondCircuit · 19/02/2026 07:11

Aaah @MooBaggage - sorry about still feeling bruised. But yo’ll be on the mend very soon, just right for the Spring sunshine. And in June - you’ll be in Rolls Royce shape for a new killer dress! 😊

alltablenochairs · 19/02/2026 07:39

Ahhhhhhh, killer dresses. Gotta be done. Especially if you spend a small fortune on said return hot killer dress and are hellbent on wearing it come what may. It fit thankfully!

On the topic of photos I have a small problem in that my passport photo definitely doesnt look like me anymore. Neither does my railcard photo which is a PITA when it's 6 months into a 3 year railcard. Thankfully the only time I get asked for it is when DH is with me. I still get people doing a double take.

@YellowStockings I've kept a pair of trousers that were too small for me when I started MJ. They're ginormous now. I'm going to keep them so I can remind myself just how far I have come.

@StatisticalStitches come and join us! I have approx 65kg to lose and have lost 45 of that so far. Went from a BMI of 45 to 30.1 currently. I've been on MJ since Oct 2024.

StatisticalStitches · 19/02/2026 07:44

Thanks for the lovely welcome everyone. It's nice to know I'm not alone on this journey. And it's great to hear all your progress, gives me hope that I've made the right decision.

Killer dress sounds perfect for a secret wedding @MooBaggage Vinted is great for new with tags bargains.

I've woken up feeling pretty ok so far this morning, the plan is to drink lots of water and hope the day goes ok 🤞

alltablenochairs · 19/02/2026 07:50

My photos-
The first one is me a few weeks after I started MJ. The one with the drink is a few weeks ago.

@alltablenochairs wow! What a difference - your face looks so much slimmer.

@MooBaggage killer dress sounds amazing, either in a 14 or a 16. Have you got a style in mind? I have a black tie event in April where I really want to look good, I saw a dress I love on sale in a size 20 but I'm holding my nerve and hoping I might be closer to an 18 by then... def going to make the most of Vinted.

@SecondCircuit it feels SO good to have a visible NSV. I only started at the beginning of January, so you have this to look forward to (sooner than you might think)!

GiveMeWordGames · 19/02/2026 10:29

@alltablenochairs huge difference! Brilliant.

Hello and welcome @StatisticalStitches . You're doing the right thing and you're in the right place. 😁It's lovely in here.

@MooBaggage a secret wedding AND an excuse to find a killer dress. Exciting all round!

YellowStockings · 19/02/2026 10:30

Need a bit of a hand hold as feeling v wobbly today. I had a GP appointment this morning as I finally felt brave enough to admit to myself that I have ask the GP about lipoedema. She agrees and is going to try and refer me on to a specialist service, though this can take time.

I just feel sick about it. I know that it's better to have done this late than never, but I just feel so sad that I've ignored my weight / health / lipoedema for so long. I wish I'd confronted this sooner. She was very happy that I'm losing weight (apparently the last time she weighed me was in late 2024 and I was 116kg, 5kg more than when I started in January - I'm 103kg today). But I can't help but wish I'd never let it get to this point.

Rationally I know that liopedema isn't directly caused by weight gain, but obviously obesity does exacerbate it. I'm worried that I've broken my body and that even if I keep losing I'm going to continue being hideously lumpy as the cells aren't affected my weight loss in the same way. 😭

I also feel weirdly ashamed of it - I didn't even tell DH that's what I was seeing the GP about!

Does anyone in this group suffer with it / have any positive stories?

MooBaggage · 19/02/2026 10:32

@YellowStockings I'm thinking about a tea dress, maybe - I love Dolly and Dotty and have got my eye on this: https://www.dollyanddotty.co.uk/products/donna-cherry-white-crossover-bust-dress

Mumsnet will probably say it's too white for a wedding, but I'm thinking with a cherry red little cardigan/scarf - and it's a v small, literally just the 4 of us, gay male wedding, if that makes a difference, so I think I'd get away with it as it's ever so slightly camp?! 😄

Or just something summer-y and joyous, as they've had a very difficult past 12 months and although it's a secret tiny wedding, needs to be a happy event!

@MooBaggage oh I love that! Totally agree. A little red cardigan or something to go with it would look brilliant. Very joyful and perfect for May.

MooBaggage · 19/02/2026 10:36

Awww @YellowStockings you've done exactly the right thing by going to the GP - and it's never too late. Well done on going - it's horrible being a patient!

I think for lots of us, we've had huge feelings of regret once starting on GLP-1, in terms of why didn't we do this earlier/how has it come to this etc. etc. But that's just the way our bodies have worked in the past, and now there's hope, it also brings out all sorts of sometimes unexpected emotions. This definitely isn't your fault - it's another condition you have that needs management and treatment.

I hope the wait isn't too long for you and you're feeling OK xxx

Ooh lovely @MooBaggage and maybe a very cheeky little matching bag??

Darlinghag · 19/02/2026 10:41

Hi @YellowStockingswell done for going to be referred, the best time is always somewhere in the past, but the second best time is now! I hope things go well.

i don’t have anything inspiring to add, but just to share, i’m fairly certain i have it too. At my heaviest (21 stone) i didn’t see it - too much regular fat. But as the weight has come off, its become more evident that its there. It features prominently in my thighs - both outer and inner, and then a little above my knees and inner upper arms.

it felt horrendous when i first noticed it but as i lose more (im currently 12.7 stone) i think ive adjusted to it.

i don’t know if you are having any pain or numbness but try to be aware of it so you can tell the consultant. I know i get a lot when lying on my side or sit for too long.

have a look at some lipodema bloggers, particularly those not in later/advanced stages. there’s some success in liposuction for it, i know i am going to be looking at it in the future - i have a lot of loose skin so will be looking at trying to tackle both issues (if finances ever allow!)

but you’ve made me think i need to get to the gp for a formal diagnosis, so thank you!!

Darlinghag · 19/02/2026 10:44

@MooBaggage its lovely!! I second red but also don’t discount green for other bits too! Especially the springy kind that isnt too Christmassy!

YellowStockings · 19/02/2026 10:49

Thanks @MooBaggage 💗

@Darlinghag sorry to hear you've been struggling with it too. That's an amazing weight loss though - so impressive! Do you think it's made a positive difference as you've gotten smaller / has any of it reduced? Thanks for the advice, that's really useful.

Darlinghag · 19/02/2026 11:09

@YellowStockingsthank you, its slow going.

I am not sure because I couldn’t really see or feel it to know what size it was before. It’s been very helpful in that the normal fat being reduced means that I can see exactly where the issue is and what matters most to me in terms of wanting to try and remove. The smaller pockets, like arm, above knee, inner thigh, feel like they are ‘less obvious’ but not sure that is down to weightloss, just that its not as developed there.

I think part of the whole thing, and the way you talk about regret for leaving for so long, is a wider feeling for me about my whole body - like if I had started weightloss sooner, I’d have a body that healed better and quicker with weighloss, more time in my 30s feeling better, etc. But we cannot change the past.

I think it feels a little grief like, to acknowledge that even if I lose all the excess fat - my body will never look like someone who has never been fat in their life. Loose skin, stretchmarks, lipedema, ageing etc, all show themselves and I just have to accept that!

YellowStockings · 19/02/2026 11:15

@Darlinghag that makes total sense to me. I feel similarly x
