A supportive, idea-sharing thread for those with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. We're a mixture of newbies, nearly theres, there and maintaining and we know what it's like to have what can seem like a mountain to climb - but we also know we can do it!

Nothing is off topic except referral codes 😊

Congratulations @AmberLime it's a real moment, isn't it?! 🥰🥰🥰 and to know you will keep going and get to the magical under BMI 25 is just bonkers isn't it!! I'm now BMI 28.8 - also just less than 2 stone to go before I hit it!

Have you found the loss has slowed down now? I'm trundling along at roughly 1lb a week, with nothing some weeks (hello this week, I'm looking at you 🙄) - at times it seems frustratingly slow, but I'm trying to see the long game of slowly off stays off...!

Hello @wlinewbie26 and welcome! This group has inspired me all the way along my journey and I have taken heart from all the people who are ahead of me - it's just brilliant.

Re: exercise - I started on Mounjaro when I was 130kg, so I understand how difficult it is. My top tip is to buy a set of handweights and focus on doing regular - daily - weights stuff. Nothing crazy and just a few minutes each day at first will really help. I started following various things on Instagram and then you get loads of ideas of what to do - Sally Gunnell, the ex-athlete is a good one to follow as she does weights stuff for women.

I also walk more now - but this took a while, as I had terrible back ache walking when I was so big. These days I can walk much further, pain-free! And I love swimming, which is a good one at any size. I should go more, but try now for once a week.

Good luck and keep us updated with how you're doing! 💪💪💪

I have just started MJ and will have my second dose tomorrow. I’ve just read through some of this thread and it has filled me with hope.

I too have a lot to lose, probably around 50kg, to get me back to a weight I haven’t been since I was about 22/23 years old!

My weight spiralled uncontrollably after having my second child in 2020! I put in 16 kg since then and I was already overweight.

reading your stories of success has really made me think I can do this! I am CC as I really want to change my habits.

One thing I really want to do is exercise more - at 103kg I find it difficult to do so I’m hoping it will become easier the more weight I lose!

Thanks to you all for the Sunday am inspiration!!

Welcome!

I have lost over 50kg since January 25 and am now gradually slowing down and heading into maintenance.

re: exercise… I was finding it very hard to be active at a larger size, but as I’ve got smaller, I’ve totally fallen in love with exercise - especially around a mental health/enjoyment point of view.

My top tip would be to find something you love (might need to try a few things first), then get stuck in, but with manageable goals. Don’t wait! I found doing something because I actually enjoyed it, meant I stuck to it. And doing something little and often (rather than saying I’ll do something unachievable then never doing it), meant I made progress.

For me, it’s walking (either with a podcast/audio book or in the park with birds etc) and weights (I’m hoping to run again but am plagued by injury and beginning to accept it might not be for me). I started small (5k steps per day, 10 mins beginners resistance training on YouTube), and built up slowly. Now I walk 15k steps a day and am training for a hyrox.

I know others on here talk about hot yoga and swimming… so many options.

good luck!!!

260lbs last April when I started. Just got to 199.2lbs this morning.

Lowest weight since being pregnant 32 years ago.

UnimaginableWindBird · 15/02/2026 10:25

Congratulations @BunsBoots !

Massive scale victory for me today - my BMI is 29.7 - I am finally no longer obese.

5 1/2 stone gone since July, minimum of 2st to go to get to healthy, but aiming for 3st more. Which feels entirely doable.

It’s a great feeling to be out of the obese bracket - one of my best moments on MJ going from a BMI of 41 down to 29.9 💪🏻🎉

Now creeping towards 24.9 but still a few pounds to go.

keep going 👍🏻

SauvignonBlanche · 15/02/2026 21:47

Congratulations @AmberLime! 🎉

RobinEllacotStrike · 16/02/2026 10:25

Congratulations to everyone smashing those targets & setting the next goal or 2.

@wlinewbie26 welcome, & I echo what the others are saying about exercise. It is hard at first but find something you like to do and do it regularly. Start very small & very gentle. A walk around the block can be a start. You do build strength quickly if you do it regularly, and start out with gentleness & patience.

I started off a gym with various classes. I enjoyed the yoga the most though I thought I was goining to be sick at first. Then I joined my local hot yoga place and get really into that. I started out being hardly able to touch my toes but I quickly improved. 18 months on my body feels & looks so different - its not just the weight loss, its the regular exercise & vastly improved mobility.

Its important to build/maintain muscle as you lose weight.

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 16/02/2026 13:15

@wlinewbie26 walking is absolutely the best exercise. Consistency is key. I started at 100.7kg and I spent the first few months walking and walking - I made sure I did 10k steps a day - get a Fitbit. Walking is free and it gets you outside. I used every opportunity to walk and was amazed at how my general fitness improved. Once I got to around to 70kg I started Pilates as my circumference was a lot less and I could do more of the movements IYSWIM. Once I got to to 65kg I started running as I felt fitter with better balance and could do proper stretching exercises, less stress on joints etc

I now run 3 times a week and Pilates 2 a week. My fitness level is back to that of 30 years ago.

RobinEllacotStrike · 16/02/2026 13:41

"My fitness level is back to that of 30 years ago."

That's incredible @TheSlimmingPumpkin - I think I could probably say the same with my own fitness too. And that was starting from the position of a very unfit natural couch potato who had just had 12 months greatly reduced mobility due to an archillies "injury" (greatly exacerbated by being over 50kg overweight) that took over a year to heal and landed me firmly back into my "couch potato" natural state, and gave me a further 8 or so kilos - took me to new heights you could say.

Darlinghag · 16/02/2026 14:42

Congratulations @AmberLime! I am excited for this day to arrive - I am currently 31.2!!

MooBaggage · 17/02/2026 06:43

Eugh. Feeling very sorry for myself over here! I fell at home on Sunday and landed on the arm of the settee on my way down to the floor and felt a rib/s go - it was horrible! Am now in a lot of pain - and the scales are saying I've put 3lbs on 🙄

I'm assuming it's swelling from the injury, but talk about adding insult to it...! It was my birthday the day before this happened, so at the grand old age of 57, do you reckon I "had a fall" rather than fell..?!

So, am grumpy and miserable - and also feeling like a total wuss, watching the winter Olympics where they break a bone every time they do anything and they just carry on, and I'm shuffling around the place because I fell over in my lounge...! 😫

OP posts:
RobinEllacotStrike · 17/02/2026 10:08

Oh no @MooBaggage sorry to hear YOU FELL and hurt yourself.
Rest up - rib injuries are very painful 💐
Deffo not "a fall" though - maybe ice packs and more winter olympics will sooth you xx

WeAllHaveWings · 17/02/2026 12:47

Oh @MooBaggage After my recent episode I must admit my language switched from "fell" to "had a fall" based only how vulnerable and sorry I felt for myself 🙈😂 Possibly trying to shift blame to my foot drop rather than me! Also 57, I don't bounce as well as I used to! Hope your ribs feel better soon (after I fell I read the NHS website which has some advice on possible broken ribs and what to look out for, it is worth a read if you haven't already)

Belated happy birthday! 💐

QueenOfHiraeth · 17/02/2026 18:13

Oh @MooBaggage I'm so sorry to hear about your "fall" (I am 65 so well into "had a fall" territory myself). You might remember I did similar and cracked ribs last year - it bloody hurts! Just cosset yourself a bit and forget the scales for a while.
I was warned, especially as an asthmatic, to be careful to keep breathing well as, apparently, there is a tendency to breathe shallowly due to the pain which can predispose to chest infections. Keep breathing!

GiveMeWordGames · 17/02/2026 19:37

Ouch @MooBaggage sorry to hear that. Take it very easy and I hope you start to mend quickly!

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 18/02/2026 08:39

@MooBaggage hope the pain lessens soon. fingers crossed you can rest up for a couple of days.

I tripped out running in December and my knee hurt for a couple of weeks but if it had happened when I was 6 stone heavier I would have fractured something for certain.

GiveMeWordGames · 18/02/2026 10:17

It's going slowly for me now but I've shuffled down to 11st 6.75 today. So 2.75lbs over my recently decided final goal of 11st 4.

My next appt is tomorrow and I've decided it's time to move back down to 7.5 and start the journey towards coming off. I'm noticing very high suppression 2-3 days after jabbing now, despite having been on 10 for a good few months and I think it's time to bite the bullet and slowly head downwards. I'm reasonably confident I can lose the last 2-3 lbs, and maybe a bit more for a buffer zone, while doing that.

Haven't posted my stats for a while so:

Early 50s, 5ft 8. Currently on 10mg. Started 24th March 2025.

SW 17st 4
CW 11st 6.75
GW 11st 4

Starting BMI: 36.8
Current BMI: 24.5 (had to round up to 11st 7)

MooBaggage · 18/02/2026 11:18

ooooh @GiveMeWordGames that's so exciting! I'm also 5'8" and my target weight is also 11st 4lbs 😃 Although at 13st 8lbs I've got way further to go!

Sounds sensible to start to tritrate down a bit - see what the impact is - and you can always adjust back up/further down. Maintenance here you come!

I'm still very sore from my stupid rib injury and still carrying 3lbs more than the day of falling, which is ridiculous! It's like my body has decided to hold on to every bit of liquid/food/inflammation it can - I know it can't be actual fat as I've not eaten anything different and in fact have probably had less due to not feeling great. Sigh. Am just writing the next couple of weeks off re: what the scales say. I'm keeping going with lots of water, high protein, low carbs, nothing bad etc. etc. Fingers crossed the pain eases up over the next couple of weeks and I can get back to normal in March!

GiveMeWordGames · 18/02/2026 12:05

Oh, that's so frustrating, @MooBaggage but I guess the body has to do its thing when it's hurt and I think you're wise to ignore the scales for a bit. I had another salt incident over the weekend after eating out for both lunch and dinner on Valentine's and I think the lunch gyros were super salty. Almost 3lbs appeared like (evil) magic the next morning. Gone by Monday. Wild.

I was going to wait until goal before posting more pics but I've been buying summer things from Vinted and trying them on, and found some old pics of me from a holiday in 2024. Pleased at the difference is an understatement. 😁 The dress might not be to everyone's taste, it's Joanie, but I kind of fell in love with it and, look! I have a waist! A figure!

Fantastic @GiveMeWordGames

SecondCircuit · 18/02/2026 12:54

@GiveMeWordGames - 👏👏👏
another amazing transformation! You look great!

Gives me hope that maybe one day in July I will see my slimmer self too.
Had a wobble recently, but I’m plodding on!

SecondCircuit · 18/02/2026 14:28

One reflection I have.
All you ladies who’ve lost weight and shared your „new” photos - @MooBaggage , @gimmemounjaro, @RobinEllacotStrike @AnneinEdinburgh @infosecinthecity, and now @GiveMeWordGames - You look so good now and natural and young that it’s hard to imagine you having ever been overweight.
. I know that most of you put the „before” photos but my mind can only see the new images and cannot detect any signs of former „fatness” (hate that word, so sorry).

It proves to me that losing weight slowly over a long period of time gives the best results.

I can’t wait to join the ranks of the slimmed.
I won’t ever be a skinny minnie, but a 5-6st thinner version of me is good enough.

AnneinEdinburgh · 18/02/2026 14:36

Thanks @SecondCircuit it has taken me since Oct 24 to lose 5 1/2 stone and I still have about 3 left to go. I am 61 and have no desire to look like the newly shrunk Karen Brady (if any of you have seen this series of the Apprentice). I would however like to lose a bit more than the half a stone in 4 months that has happened recently. I am on 15mg so nowhere to go.

@MooBaggage hope you stop hurting soon!

Onwards and downwards

xx

GiveMeWordGames · 18/02/2026 15:04

That's such a lovely thing to say @SecondCircuit . Being honest, in terms of the bits of me you can see in those photos, I do notice a little bit of wrinkly skin above my knees when I bend them/move a certain way, and at the top of my arms. My torso/belly is where you can see it the most (not sure I'll ever dare a bikini but never say never!) but overall I'm surprised and relieved how well my skin has done. I certainly don't have anything approaching the charmingly titled 'ozempic face' the haterz go on about.

I've used home weights since the beginning and that's definitely helped with my body muscle tone.

I'm sorry you're struggling recently, @AnneinEdinburgh and I hope things pick up soon and you have a whoosh of some sort.
