Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 12!

MooBaggage · 29/01/2026 15:40

A supportive, idea-sharing thread for those with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. We're a mixture of newbies, nearly theres, there and maintaining and we know what it's like to have what can seem like a mountain to climb - but we also know we can do it!

Nothing is off topic except referral codes 😊

Do you eat them with the skin on? I’ve been having 1-2 kiwis a day (just the insides) but everything still feels quite sluggish… Maybe I need to fully commit and eat them whole!

I don’t usually eat the skin though I do if not too fuzzy.

just reading today how 🥝🥝 also help with sleep. Which I need atm.

flaxseeds are excellent at keeping things moving though not easy to swallow.

I find a couple of slices of lifechanging bread works wonders though I usually have to freeze half.

I eat the golden ones with the skin, and the skin for those is really nice.

oooh I just had a video consultation with The Family Chemist. they have been my provider from the start and this is the first video consultatuion I have had - its because I've reached healthy BMI.

They verified my id, height, weight etc. We talked about goal weight, any maintenance plans etc - seemed to go well & I should get my new pen now. This will be my 3rd 15mg pen.

WeAllHaveWings · 10/02/2026 13:05

What is TFC approach to maintenance plans like @RobinEllacotStrike ? Do they allow gaps in ordering (to use up stock pile from using pens for longer than 5 weeks and I can't seem to get reduced down 🙈) and restarting?

I need to move to another provider as not keen on the problems/feel I am seeing in the Oushk forum now, but I have 3 pens on hand and another on order for delivery March (got a big discount so was worth it).

I already have pharmulous and swift on my list as possibilities for maintenance friendly.

RobinEllacotStrike · 10/02/2026 13:55

I've only ever been with TFC as their pricing was pretty reasonable and I didn't want to hop around for coupons/discounts etc. I thought from the outset that having one constant supplier might be easier in the long run as they have all my data in one place etc

She didn't say much herself advice wise - she asked me what my plans were and then she confirmed that many of their customers tirate down & it was usually a better option than stopping. TFC advise to come off eventually as per Eli Lilly's instructions. I mentioned the possibilty switching to Wegovy for maintenance (cost reasons) as I thought I might be one of the people who would benefit from GLP1's forever and she said that they had several customers who are doing this.

She agreed this was a new medication etc constantly developing and TFC were watching new developments etc.

No maintenance plan was offered but I had said that I was wanting to lose a few more kgs before tapering down. To be fair they haven't really been big on supplying me with support or advice (though I see they now offer coaching for ££) but I didn't need them as I have you lot & I've learnt more from these threads than anywhere else.

TFC used to have a quite good blog article up about maintenance but I can't find it now - I wonder if they have taken it down?

What issues are you seeing with Ousk? I recently joined their flex plan (I advised them I am going off the jabs) but in reality I will use up my stockpile nice and slowly to taper down then, if I need to, will order through Oushk on a lower dose. Its saves me having to order for the sake of it when I have three 10mg and one 12.5mg pens left that don't expire until Jan 2027.
I was with another provider and have never used Oushk before.

WeAllHaveWings · 10/02/2026 19:16

@MrsMiagi I have been with them for 18 months mostly for being able to pick the delivery date and generally they have been good, deliveries arrived on time. Recently they just feel as though they are struggling a bit and it is all exposed on their chat forum which makes me feel the value might not be there for the higher price point.

All just anecdotal from their online forum but the noise seems to have increased in the last few months (starting with the GPhC enforcement notice, price hikes etc). To many complaints about Oushk staff/prescribers giving conflicting information. There will be many people that are happy with them, I haven't personally had any issues yet, but I resent possibly paying £15/month for nothing flexi and it just feels like there are more posts lately and makes me feel they are losing that small pharmacy control as they have grown.

QueenOfHiraeth · 10/02/2026 22:09

@ShrankLastWinter By coincidence I saw something similar today, not from an official source, just in a chat but it mentioned receptor fatigue. As you say though, that doesn't fit with oral daily dosing

Thank you for responding, that is interesting. I didn't want to pay the £15 either but I needed a provider who would accept me after not having purchased mj since August.
I am so glad I stockpiled!

Ive been very quiet on here for a while. I had surgery last year and it completely through me off track, stalled for ages, couldn't get my mojo back. I upped my dose to 9mg a little while ago and this morning (jab day) hit just a touch over 30% of my bodyweight lost! So happy! Realistically I need to lose a couple more stone and im worried about how slow that is going to be. I might need to start tracking which is something I haven't done so far cos I know it can make me a bit obsessive but im keen to get this off ASAP before a big holiday at the end of the year when I won't easily be able to take injections and dont want the slowed digestion! Anyway - happy this morning and wanted to share!

YellowStockings · 13/02/2026 11:37

Bittersweet NSV today - my favourite, comfiest trousers are now properly too big. They were never super tight - size 22, and when I started in Jan I was probably a size 21 for bottoms - but they are now huge. Probably a good thing as they were starting to fall apart anyway but I'm so sad to have to retire them (but equally it's obviously very nice to see visible progress).

I've already had to get rid of my similarly baggy size 22 jeans. I currently own one pair of size 20s which fit perfectly, and a couple of pairs of leggings, but I'm a bit worried I'm not going to have many clothes to wear for a while. I don't want to buy more size 20 stuff only to have to (hopefully) get rid in a few months, so I'm going to wait I think? What did you all do?

GiveMeWordGames · 13/02/2026 11:40

@YellowStockings this is where Vinted comes into its own, if you haven't yet tried it. It's more of a pain to search now they're messed around with the sizing bands but it's still the best/cheapest way to buy interim clothes and also to perhaps find smaller versions of much loved things you've slimmed out of.

YellowStockings · 13/02/2026 11:42

I think that's going to have to be the solution @GiveMeWordGames. I'm going to try and see how long I can wait it out - I have a feeling that dresses might be my friend here as they are much more forgiving size-wise - but I've got a few events coming up March-May that I'm going to need nicer clothes for...

The weird thing, at first, is reversing your thinking on which way to err in terms of size caution. At your stage, if you buy something and it's a bit too small, you can just...wait. 😃

I shopped my wardrobe for a bit as well - I had size 18s and 16s of jeans that I'd stubbornly kept for between 10-15 years.

RobinEllacotStrike · 13/02/2026 12:04

This week I went to wear 2 old favourite size 16 skirts I had held onto when I out grew them. They both fell off me - unwearable without alterations. Like really big.

I can't get my head around being smaller than a sz 16 which was probably my smallest adult size for about 40 years. Even when I had lost some weight and was at my (former) slimmest a 16 on the hips was as low as I ever went.

I seem to be a 12 now.

Meanwhile today I am wearing an old fav size 22 dress. I am broad in the shoulders and still a bit busty, so loose dresses still fit across the shoulders and look ok if I add a belt, or style them down to size a bit.

Swings & roundabouts.

ShrankLastWinter · 13/02/2026 12:48

I bought just a very few clothes at interim sizes on the way down and then resold them. You don’t need many since it’s only a matter of weeks (!) and a single season at each size. But nice to enjoy looking better.

AnneinEdinburgh · 13/02/2026 14:46

I'm selling my size 20 things on Vinted and trying to resist size 14s. Selling is very addictive!

UnimaginableWindBird · 13/02/2026 15:17

I'm currently around a size 16, but am mostly wearing all my size 20 clothes but with an ever-increasing number of new holes in my belt!

I have bought a new pair of jeans, but everything else is still wearable. I'll have to get a few new things for the summer, but I'm spending so much on Mounjaro that I don't really have enough left over for anything other than the absolute basics, at the point where the old ones become unwearable. I have bought a passport of my favourite work trousers in a 14, so hopefully soon I will be able to wear them without massive bunching at the waist.

RobinEllacotStrike · 13/02/2026 15:33

Timpsons will put new holes in belts for free bless them.
I've been back a few times 😁

MooBaggage · 13/02/2026 16:46

@YellowStockings I agree with the others - you can be daring with your Vinted purchases and buy smaller sizes, because you know you're going to get there!

I buy a few things on payday each month - my entire wardrobe apart from undies and shoes is now Vinted - literally everything. I haven't spent more than £8 on anything (and that was on a lovely coat) - usually I keep to under £5. I figure that at my loss rate now of 1lb a week, and the fact that losing 1.5 stone = going down a size for me, I'm shifting through sizes about every 5 months - roughly. So I buy clothes for now and smaller clothes I really like for the future. You can always then sell the bigger stuff as you go along.

Some of my Vinted purchases are a tiny bit too small, so I keep them at one end of my wardrobe and try them on every few week - it's really exciting to find stuff fits that 2 months ago were too small...!

Another one seconding Vinted. My whole wardrobe is from there, and I sell as I move down. I purposely bought clothes that fitted as I moved down as I didn’t want added pressure of needing to be a particular size and wanted to enjoy having clothes I liked for the first time in my life ever. I recommend lurking and buying bundles whenever you can - get a discount and save on postage. I also buy clothes smaller for the future but recommend trying them frequently as have been caught out a few times with things becoming too big before I got a chance to wear them. One of the unexpected bonuses of all this is discovering I actually like clothes and get a bit of a thrill deciding what to wear each morning. Never ever thought I’d say that!!!

QueenOfHiraeth · 13/02/2026 19:29

I just can't manage Vinted. I ask it for nice makes, new or excellent condition and yet it still offers me oversized, misshapen, faded shite that I wouldn't use as dusters! If I want anything I have to get DD to get it for me

@YellowStockings Don't rule out supermarkets. I have some great stuff that you would never know was as cheap as it was

Bunnyjo · 14/02/2026 09:59

Great NSVs ladies and you look fabulous @RobinEllacotStrike. Like you, I didn't take great (well, actually, any) before photos, but I will look through our holiday photos from August as I am sure there are some horrors in there that I can compare to when I am down to my target weight. Had a lovely NSV when a colleague saw me this week and said "Bloody hell, look at you. Skinny Minnie!" He's a proper Cumbrian in his early 60s that just 'says it how it is', so I took his comment as a compliment 😊

Clothes wise, I am down 3 sizes (was 18-20 and now 12-14 in most things now). Got my last lot of clothes in the Xmas sales, but I think I need to add to my wardrobe now as the trousers in particular are starting to look a bit too baggy. I haven't looked around Vinted and I probably should as my 18yo DD swears by it.

SW: 15st 5.5lb
CW: 11st 8lb
Loss: 53.5lb
Current BMI: 28.7
Target Weight 1: 12st 1lb (overweight BMI) - Achieved!
Target Weight 2: 10st 1lb (healthy BMI)

Still on course to be around 11st 5.5lb by the end of Feb. Still not decided on final target weight, but I think I will know when I get there. What I do know is I don't want to be just inside the Healthy BMI, as that gives me no wiggle room for normal fluctuations. For now, I'm very happy with how far I've come, but there is still some way to go.

AmberLime · 15/02/2026 08:58

Massive scale victory for me today - my BMI is 29.7 - I am finally no longer obese.

5 1/2 stone gone since July, minimum of 2st to go to get to healthy, but aiming for 3st more. Which feels entirely doable.

wlinewbie26 · 15/02/2026 09:09

I have just started MJ and will have my second dose tomorrow. I’ve just read through some of this thread and it has filled me with hope.

I too have a lot to lose, probably around 50kg, to get me back to a weight I haven’t been since I was about 22/23 years old!

My weight spiralled uncontrollably after having my second child in 2020! I put in 16 kg since then and I was already overweight.

reading your stories of success has really made me think I can do this! I am CC as I really want to change my habits.

One thing I really want to do is exercise more - at 103kg I find it difficult to do so I’m hoping it will become easier the more weight I lose!

Thanks to you all for the Sunday am inspiration!!
