A supportive, idea-sharing thread for those with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. We're a mixture of newbies, nearly theres, there and maintaining and we know what it's like to have what can seem like a mountain to climb - but we also know we can do it!

Nothing is off topic except referral codes 😊

Like some others on here I am permanently cold. Its partly a MJ thing, partly an 'other health issues' thing. If anyone feels the cold I would hugely recommend getting a heated blanket. Mine was from Argos and I chose it because it can be (gently) machine washed.

Unfortunately my cats seem to like my blanket just as much as I do. As soon as it goes on I can guarantee at least one, sometimes both of the furry dictators ends up on my lap.

Just catching up on the new thread…

@RobinEllacotStrike congratulations! What an achievement!

@MooBaggage really hope being home isn’t too harsh, and hope you can plan a few nice things in for Feb.

I was thinking about the slowing down etc (which is the position I’m in after also losing a Chinese weight lifter) and I think there’s a lot to be said by relaxing into it and enjoying your smaller, stronger (in my case due to peloton and hyrox) body. It helps having brought nice new clothes as I’ve gone along (Vinted is my friend!) so doesn’t feel like I’m “waiting” for anything of that makes sense. I mean, I still have more to go (especially around the stomach), but I’m loving the fact I can do things (30 burpees anyone 🥵🥵🥵) I never ever have been able to do before and feel amazing with it. If I stay at this point forever I’ll still be delighted!

My challenge is being braver about sharing more about my journey in real life. I’ve been incredibly private about using WLI (people haven’t really asked, but sure they must assume) and I’ve only told a handful of family and close friends. But correcting some of the misinformation I hear about WLI is my new goal (alongside training for hyrox and eating 30g protein!).

Ditsy79 · 31/01/2026 09:13

Thanks for the new thread @MooBaggage . Still on a bit of a plateau here, only lost 1kg in the past 2 months.
I've been on 7.5mg for a while now. All was going quite well until late November when all the xmas meet ups, meals, and other festivities started. I put on about 1.5kg over dec/xmas, which I have now lost. But I feel that I have now sabotaged my success on the 7.5mg dose by 'pushing it' too far over Xmas. Food noise is back to some extent and suppression is only lasting a couple of days.
I know I should really be increasing to 10mg, but I can't afford it. I'm debating actually reducing down for a few weeks, then going back up to 7.5mg in an attempt to trick my body, and get suppression and lack of food noise back. Has anyone tried this, and does it work? Or am I being ridiculous?
I've lost 21kg so far, and still have about the same amount to go.

Welcome back @MooBaggage, your holiday sounded blissful. Huge congratulations @RobinEllacotStrike, what a fantastic achievement and the weight of a Chinese boxer really puts it into context! @alltablenochairs, I feel the cold too, but I always have. Not helped by the fact our home is a 19th century solid stone farmhouse that costs the GDP of a small country to heat!

SW: 15st 5.5lb
CW: 11st 13.5lb
Loss: 48lb
Current BMI: 29.7

Target Weight 1: 12st 1lb (overweight BMI) - Achieved!
Target Weight 2: 10st 1lb (healthy BMI)
Final Target Weight: 9st something (don't know what the something is yet...)

My target was to hit overweight BMI by the end of Jan, with an ambitious hope that I would drop to 11st something and I am proud to have achieved both; I am now overweight, not obese and I have a new 'big number' to look at on the scales 😊

I need some new smaller targets as 10st 1lb is a long way off. I considered 11st 12.5lb, as that would be 3.5st total loss, but that's only a lb away. So I've set myself the ambitious target of being 11st 7lb by the end of Feb and 11st 5.5lb (4st loss) by the middle of March.

RobinEllacotStrike · 31/01/2026 14:47

@alltablenochairsi got one of those heated blankets on your recommendation- I WFH and use it at my desk.

I have a lovely cuddle with my smaller cat every day. He loves it.

Thanks for the new thread @MooBaggage !

Well done on hitting the healthy BMI range @RobinEllacotStrike! 🥳 One of the most amazing milestones to hit!

Saturday weigh in here and happy where I am in the early weeks of maintaining.

Back at physio this week (after ankle fracture in Oct, fall in January and toes keep catching when walking) and she has referred me to orthotics for foot drop and help to prevent future falls such as a foot brace 🙈 She said it might just need more time for the nerves to heal and keep up the exercises, but it is concerning the NHS treatment plan seems to be a quite conservative wait and see.

I am still not out walking again as foot tires very easily, I really need to concentrate on walking gait/lifting toes and confidence is shot especially on uneven pavements which we have lots of here (not to mention it is freezing cold here walking slowly!), so worried I will fall again and give myself an even worse injury (a friend of a friend only a few years older than me fell early January and broke her hip!)

QueenOfHiraeth · 31/01/2026 22:28

Goodness me @WeAllHaveWings you really have gone through the wringer! I had foot drop temporarily with a ruptured disc about 30 years ago. Luckily mine resolved in a relatively short time but I still remember it.
This might be a weird suggestion coming from a retired clinician as it is very unscientific, but one of my best friends is a homeopath and she has always been very generous to me with her remedies. I can't claim any miracle results but I do seem to have got off quite lightly and recovered well from my ailments and injuries. I would never recommend it over medical treatment but might just be worth a try if you don't object to it.
How did you break your ankle? Forgive me if you've told us and I've forgotten, I have a head like a sieve! Maybe I should ask if homeopathy works for that Grin

Sam187 · 31/01/2026 22:57

Trying desperately to catch up with all the messages, saving the thread whilst I do 😂☺️. We are a chatty bunch!!

MooBaggage · 01/02/2026 09:14

Well I'm back and weighed this morning - have only put 1/2lb on 😀

I was more mindful in the last week of the holiday and I think the saving grace was walking 8,000+ steps every day, which I loved, but am still thrilled I didn't do any real damage while away!

So, back on track with water, protein and no crisps and sangria! #sadtimes 😄

Hope we're all losers this week 💪💪💪

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 01/02/2026 10:10

That’s called winning @MooBaggage You had a great holiday and only put only put of 1/2lb. That will be off you in a few days if that 👍🏻

I am forcing myself to go out running in spite of the drizzle. I know I will feel better once I am back. Back later

Slowrunning · 01/02/2026 11:38

Checking in on the new thread.
thank you @MooBaggage and well done on only putting 1/2lb on in 3 weeks. That’s amazing.
I am a year into my journey and now in maintenance.
Starting weight 104.8kg, currently 55.3kg
so very almost a Chinese boxer 😂
Just dropped from 10mg to 7.5mg so a bit nervous about this week but hopefully it won’t be too bad.
Found the cravings tough over Christmas and new year but starting to get back into a routine now. Just wish the bloody rain would ease up so I can get out walking a bit more!

MooBaggage · 01/02/2026 11:49

@Slowrunning let us know how the dosage drop goes - I'm currently on 10mg and don't want to go any higher, so will be reducing from that, hopefully, at some point. Fingers crossed it feels OK and everything stays on track.

I agree re: the walking - that was the best part of being away - the weather being kind enough that walking every day was a pleasure - I will miss it, as I know I'm a terrible fair-weather outdoors person!

OP posts:
TheSlimmingPumpkin · 01/02/2026 14:10

Got back from a 9km amble jog just before rain started again. I have the 5th dose to take of my current 10mg pen and then one more 10mg pen to take. I reckon I will hit my BMI 25 during the last one and then I need to work through my 7.5mg stash (that’s my current plan anyway)

Thats a great loss achievement @Slowrunning Fingers crossed that 7.5mg works for you 💪🏻

QueenOfHiraeth · 01/02/2026 16:59

Well done @MooBaggage What a change from the early days when you could barely walk! Great result and glad you enjoyed it

MooBaggage · 02/02/2026 06:42

Morning! Checking in to report that I have hit the goal I set for myself at the beginning of taking MJ in Jan 2025! At the time, I couldn't envisage getting here - the weight I set was based on my favourite bus number (to weigh 192lbs!) and was all very unreachable. But here we are...

13.1.25 SW 20st 3lbs BMI 43
2.2.26 CW 13st 10lb BMI 29.1

So that's 6 1/2 stone lost 😮

Onwards and downwards - I reset my target a while back with a new final target of being BMI 24 - so about 35lbs more to go! 💪

YellowStockings · 02/02/2026 07:11

Congratulations @MooBaggage, what a lovely thing to celebrate now you’re back in here in the rainy UK! You must feel delighted.

YellowStockings · 02/02/2026 07:16

Week four weigh in

SW: 111.05 kg
CW: 105.90 kg
Total loss: 5.15 kg

Things have definitely slowed down a bit this week but I’ve still lost 0.7kg which is fab - if I could do that every week I’d be very happy. Still on 0.25 but have increased to every 5 days.

I’m hoping that next weigh in I’ll have lost at least 5.55kg total, which would be 5% of my starting weight.

NSV: Earlier this week I had to check if my top was riding up as my stomach felt cold - turns out the fabric is now loose over my belly whereas before it was tight!

nailslikeknives · 03/02/2026 09:30

Thanks for the new thread @moobaggage

Checking in and keeping accountable:
SW in June 18.5.0
CW 11.13.4
Goal?? 10 stone would see me at a good BMI, I’m still in the obese category 🙄 though hopefully not for much longer. Well done @robinellacotstrike fantastic achievement on your bmi 👏

DeadbeatYoda · 03/02/2026 15:49

thanks @moobaggage,I have a similar amount to lose. I lost a lot a year or so ago on wegovy but ran out of money. A lot of the weight is back on ( I have had a hell of a year) and I want to get back to where I was. I am in a better space now, things are looking up. Just looking for best brand / source to buy from now.

DeadbeatYoda · 03/02/2026 15:51

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 30/01/2026 10:25

Finally I seemed to have cracked my never ending plateau

SW 15 stone 12 lbs / 222lbs / 100.4kg
CW 9 stone 13lbs / 63.3kg / 139lbs
BMI started at 41.4😱 now dead on 26.
Loss to date 5stone 12lbs / 37.4kg / 82 Guinea pigs

Revised GW to reach a BMI of 25.0 is 9 stone 7lbs / 60.8kg / 134lbs as when I put a new swimsuit on this week it was not a pretty sight and even accounting for lose skin there is a bit around the middle still to come off.

So 5lbs /2.5kg to go and hears hoping that the eight week plateau is cracked.

So fingers crossed my next 10mg pen will definitely be my last as I have my 7.5mg stash to work through.

Wow! Well done. That gives me hope. Did you use boy or juniper or similar?

DeadbeatYoda · 03/02/2026 16:08

Congratulations @moobaggagethat’s amazing. I really want to be where you are. I bet you feel amazing.

Thank you ❤️ There is lots of encouragement on these forums as well. I am part of the Nov24 gang.

My first two pens were from Lloyds but since then I have used Oushk and Pharmulous. I got one pen from Bolt as they have a generous first time customer offer. Also got a pen from Ashcroft and from Pillsorted during the Great Pendemic just before the September 25 price hikes which is why I have a stash. I haven’t used any of the subscription providers such as Voy or Jupiter at all.

Pharmulous don’t offer discounts but are consistently one of the lower cost providers.

Fingers crossed you will get back to where you were. I am likely to be a lifer but would love to reduce my maintenance dose (when I get there) to 5mg or even 2.5mg

HoobleDooble · 03/02/2026 18:18

The people who know I’m dieting are probably really fed up (no pun intended) with hearing about it so can I just have a bit of a moment please? I’ve been on the jabs and counting calories for exactly a year and, on weighing in, I have lost exactly 6 stone! I still have a long way to go but wanted to mark this point in the journey. Plus I feel like nobody believes how much I say I’ve lost because I’m still massive 😁

Start weight 22st 6.5 on 01/02/26
Current weight 16 st 6.5
Target, top of BMI range weight 10st 10
Weight loss 84lbs, 38.10 or, as DH pointed out, over 7.5 of those big square bottles of fabric conditioner (they’re apparently 5kg each)

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 03/02/2026 18:24

Congrats @HoobleDooble - that’s a great achievement.🎉🥂 keep going you have got this 💪🏻

I have upped my exercise this week in order to reach the 6 stone loss milestone so hopefully I will join you later in the week.

Thanks @QueenOfHiraeth I have this huge worry NHS is very much wait and see and I'll still have the same issue in 6 months time. Work are great so far and letting me WFH for the last 3 months as I don't think they want blamed if I fall again! I work in Glasgow and the car park is a few blocks away (on uneven Glasgow pavements!), but I have a new boss who is keen to meet me in person.

It was something really silly when it happened, I was standing on one foot removing my shoe and rolled on my ankle and there was this huge crack! It wasn't even that sore, I thought I had just twisted it, I could weight bear on it no problem straight away, and only went to A&E 10 days later when it still numb, still struggled getting downstairs and it wasn't improving.

It is an avulsion fracture (ligament has pulled away a small piece of bone when I turned it), the NHS physio said it is probably just the nerves will take time to heal.

I really do appreciate you thinking of me, and I’m glad your recovery went well, it gives me hope! Not sure about homeopathy, I have always been a logical-fact type person and it is something that has never really clicked with me. In this instance I would perhaps give anything a try as this is getting me down now, but I am not sure with my very recent changes to my HRT and still trying to get the right spacing for my B12 injections that adding any other variables into the mix would be a good idea...
