Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 12!

A supportive, idea-sharing thread for those with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. We're a mixture of newbies, nearly theres, there and maintaining and we know what it's like to have what can seem like a mountain to climb - but we also know we can do it!

Nothing is off topic except referral codes 😊

NSV - I've always to wear LEVIS jeans (yes genX'er here) and they have never really fitted.

I bought a pair of new dark denim Levis on vinted 6 months ago and they were way too snug for me. Today I am wearing them comfortably & they look great.
I'm so pleased.

Oh, we seem to have something called a "Group" for our >5st threads now that we can join!

Yes, I've had a PM. I'm not really sure what it all means versus posting on the thread itself. 🤔

Definitely photos @Zebracat !

Zebracat · 17/04/2026 15:10

I got Dh to take some photos, in my most utilitarian swimsuit. That’s going in the bin! It’s so much too big that I look massive thru the body. Or maybe I am and that’s my question answered.

Thanks for the plateau busting tips. I will up my liquids, but the rest is ok.

MooBaggage · 17/04/2026 15:47

@Zebracat You don't look massive at all - but that costume is definitely too big now!

I think our figures are pretty similar - bigger boobs, smaller legs! Maybe a bit more tummy than we'd like, but not massive at all. I'd like to reduce my tummy and boobs a bit, anyway...!

I think we both look like we've got a bit to lose, which is exactly where we're at - not loads, but a bit.

You're looking fantastic @Zebracat
bravo!!

GiveMeWordGames · 17/04/2026 16:38

@Zebracat you're absolutely spot on that you have toned legs and arms. That shines through. Good work! You're looking great and that swimming costume is definitely too big. Bin it!!! Buy something new and flattering, you deserve it. 😁

Have you worked out your ratio of height/waist? (ideally waist should be half height or less). Some consider it a better measure than BMI although spookily when I reached 'healthy' BMI was when my ratio became exactly 50%. Anyway, it might give you another way of deciding whether you want/need to lose much more.

RobinEllacotStrike · 17/04/2026 16:50

"spookily when I reached 'healthy' BMI was when my ratio became exactly 50%"

Same here - whenI reached top of healthy BMI range, both my height/waist and hip/waist ratios were spot on too.

MooBaggage · 17/04/2026 17:12

Oooh - my waist is 33" and my height is 68"! A test I finally pass... 😂

When I first measured myself in April 2025 my waist was 47" and I'd lost 2 stone by then - it must have been well over 50" when I started - I was just a great big barrel shape... 🙈

You look absolutely fine @Zebracat
If your diet is good and you’re active I wouldn’t obsess too much. You may want to give it some final extra push to see if it’s possible to go further down the scales but you’ve already achieved a lot.

That is what I’m planning to do. I’ve gone to 73kg which gives me BMI 27 (5ft5) and although I’d love to lose more and look properly and decidedly slim I’m not sure it’s very realistic given my age, build and habits😁. I may have to settle for the current look.

Zebracat · 17/04/2026 18:07

Thanks all. I should throw that costume out. But when I wear my better ones, I get men flirting in the sauna, I wore that today and a man told me all about his rectal bleeds. Not sure what’s worse.

Oh zebra that made me laugh so much!

You are looking really fit!

I’ve been ‘in maintenance’ for nearly 9 months now and am relieved to be able to say that squats etc really do help the bum zone.

Time and exercise help some of the wobbly bits too. I do look older and wrinklier than I used to, but the loose skin has improved loads.

alltablenochairs · 17/04/2026 23:16

My goodness. I step away from the thread for a few days and there's about a gazillion posts! If you are new here hello and welcome.
My few days away was much needed. I've mentioned it before but my youngest has complex needs. While we do get some respite care this was a much needed break. There was eating. A lot of eating. And cups of tea. Because a hot cup of tea just doesnt exist in my house. It either goes stone cold or gets used as a missile. Extra 'uber class' points for drinking one of many cups of tea in the 1st class lounge at King's Cross station through a straw! (It's a healthcare thing). It's not all bad with my youngest though, they can be really sweet at times. Most mornings their special cuddly toy gets tucked into my bed to keep me company (I sleep during the day) and they have the pointiest elbows ever. I get a lot of knots/pressure points on my shoulders and there's nothing better than jamming an elbow into where it hurts.

Loving the talk about bottoms. Mine is possibly wrinkly but I tend to not spend very much time looking at it. However I do frequently-ish measure my backside. No, I dont have some kind of weird fetish. My body seems to think I need to sit in all sorts of weird positions so I need to resize my chair every few months so the seat fits me properly and so I don't/can't adopt a position that'll end up doing damage. Fun fact- wheelchair seats are usually measured in inches. When I started MJ October 2024 I had a 23 inch wide bum. I now have a 17 inch bum. Or did before I went away for a few days and did a lot of eating.

MooBaggage · 18/04/2026 08:07

👋 @alltablenochairs and I'm so glad you had a good break! Hopefully you're now planning the next one 😀

The 'group' thing is something MN is trialling - they did ask me as the current thread starter - apparently it's to group together multiple threads like ours, so you can join the group of threads to see them all more easily. Sounded fine as a concept so I said it was fine to put our threads in the trial - hope that's OK. I did ask if it changed anything else and they said no, everything else remains the same, but we can give feedback if we think there are any pros/cons. I actually haven't noticed it at all yet 🤦‍♀️

Another 1lb down here in the biggest whoosh I've had in a while (3lbs loss over the last 10 days, which is v unusual for me these days), taking me to a BMI of 27.2!!

OP posts:
MoneyJo · 18/04/2026 08:13

I hope it doesn't change anything here @MooBaggage I didn't get a PM and would hate to lose you all.

I'm a bit discouraged. All went well, 1 pen of 2.5, got second pen and chose 5mg but did the clicks and only took 3.75 which was fine for the first week. Jabbed the same again on Thurs and have actually gained a pound since. So I've not actually had a net loss for two weeks now. I'm so fed up. I can't up the dose until Thurs. I have walked and exercised a bit more, and yesterday I ate a bit more because I decided to have yogurt for breakfast for the protein, when I don't usually eat until after 12.

MooBaggage · 18/04/2026 08:21

@MoneyJo I've been assured it doesn't change anything at all, so there's no chance of losing us - even if you wanted to 😄

Mini stalls are so bloody frustrating - I'm sorry you're struggling to get the scales to behave. Are you weighing every day? This saved my sanity, when I saw that weight really does go up and down so frequently, even when I'm losing weight there will be days when the scales temporarily show 1 - 2lbs gain. If you're weighing once a week, you run the risk of that day being a 'gain' day. This morning, I am showing as 2lbs heavier than yesterday - I don't believe it for a second and always take my lowest recorded weight as my weight.

Other than that, maybe go to 5mg, up your water and hit the handweights/resistance exercising.

It will shift downwards - just so demoralising when you feel stuck. Keep going - you are on the right track xxx 💪💪💪

GiveMeWordGames · 18/04/2026 08:21

I wonder how they decided who got PMs about the group thing? Maybe if you've been on more than the most recent thread. Odd. Seems harmless enough as a thing anyway.

@MoneyJo don't lose heart! Two things: you won't have gained a pound in fat in two days, it's just a fluctuation, water retention, constipation, who knows! And, if you jabbed 3.75 from a 5 pen on Thursday you can do 1.25 (15 clicks) on Sunday or Monday and then jab again as normal, maybe going up to the full 5mg, on Thursday. People often split-dose like that.

@MooBaggage great news on the whoosh. And so glad you had a lovely break @alltablenochairs .

MoneyJo · 18/04/2026 09:23

Thank you @MooBaggage and @GiveMeWordGames

I do weigh daily and it does fluctuate but I hadn't seen it go back up like this. I think I will do an extra little jab tomorrow and then go up to 5 next Thurs.

You've really reassured me. Up and at it!

WeAllHaveWings · 18/04/2026 11:14

I am working today (not very actively, hanging about waiting for user testing to finish) and bored, so wondering about this Community Group thing that has been set up for us and how it works.

How does everyone feel about starting up a maintenance focussed thread within the community group and see if/how it works......... or does everyone prefer all the chat in the one thread? (I'll probably get a range of yes's and no's! 🤣)

MooBaggage · 18/04/2026 14:25

@WeAllHaveWings I don't feel ready for a maintenance thread yet - feel like I'd be jinxing it! But definitely want to join one once I've got to my target - hopefully in the Autumn 😊🤞

OP posts:
Questions1234 · 18/04/2026 15:32

@WeAllHaveWings I’d be keen for a maintenance focussed chat. I’m keep thinking I must search out a sane maintenance thread, but haven’t got around to it!

Bunnyjo · 19/04/2026 08:38

I am laughing at the bum/no bum comments! Alas, I am in the no bum camp; having been a fully paid up member of the shapely (then fat) bum club all my life, it has now seemingly disappeared into thin air! I am hoping that doing strength training in the gym will help, I am not giving up my shapely bum club membership just yet.

SW: 15st 5.5lb
CW: 10st 0.5lb
Loss: 75lb
Current BMI: 24.9
Target Weight 1: 12st 1lb (overweight BMI) - Achieved!
Target Weight 2: 10st 1lb (healthy BMI) - Achieved!
Target Weight 3: 9st 5.5lb (6st loss)
Final Target: 8st 8lb - 9st 1lb (I think...)

I did it - I am officially in the healthy BMI category! Something I haven't been in nearly 19 years.

I got quite emotional when I saw the weight on the scales this morning; I think all the years of struggles, failures and feeling inadequate just came pouring out and it caught me a bit by surprise.

Going to go back and read through the posts more thoroughly, now that I have dried my eyes a little 😂

McGingerNut · 19/04/2026 08:47

@WeAllHaveWings as a long time lurker (this is my first ever post) who's lost 32kg in the last 11 months and is 1 month into my post MJ journey, I'd love to have a maintenance chat. I've found this group so supportive and have lived the ups and downs of everyone but maintenance does feel different (less exciting and challenging in a different way) so a new chat would be useful.

Phew, now that I've dipped my toe into the water, I hope I will contribute more regularly. 🙏🏼

MoneyJo · 19/04/2026 08:53

Please can you tell me if this is normal. I had 6 jabs/5 great weeks - lost 4lb first week and steady 2lb a week after. Went up from 2.5 to 3.75 for jab 6 and now have totally stalled. Haven't lost anything for a week. I'm going to do 1.25 today as someone advised on some thread and I guess then I will go to 5mg from next Thurs.

Did anyone have a similar experience and do you think moving to 5 will sort it? I'm quite discouraged. I'm drinking plenty and trying to move more.
