Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 12!

MooBaggage · 29/01/2026 15:40

A supportive, idea-sharing thread for those with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. We're a mixture of newbies, nearly theres, there and maintaining and we know what it's like to have what can seem like a mountain to climb - but we also know we can do it!

Nothing is off topic except referral codes 😊

@Bunnyjo CONGRATULATIONS!!! You did it!! I can only imagine the feeling - am so pleased for you!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰

You've made it and any more losses now are just a brilliant bonus - and we're heading into better weather (hopefully!) so you can wear summer clothes be feeling and looking amazing 🥰

Can I ask what clothes size you are now, with a BMI of 24.9? That's a stone away for me - I'm wondering whether I'll be in any size 12s, or remain at a 14 - 16. Would love to make it into size 12s on my (flat) bottom..! 😁

Thank you @MooBaggage 💕

Of course you can ask! I am far from amazonian in proportions sadly, being a whopping 160cm tall, but I am a comfortable size 12 all over now. I think, with the last stone and a bit I want to lose to give me wiggle room, I will hit a size 10 which will look right for my height.

I will say that the last 6-8 weeks has made the most visual difference. I think a PP mentioned it being like a kitchen roll and it really is - at first when the roll is full, you don't notice the layers of kitchen roll coming off, then when the roll is smaller every sheet removed makes a bigger and bigger difference!

GiveMeWordGames · 19/04/2026 10:11

Woohoo @Bunnyjo you've done it! Officially healthy. I hope you're getting all the positive feels because you bloody well should. 👏👏💪🍾

@WeAllHaveWings I'd be interested in maintenance chat. Right now I feel like I'm going to be groping my way a bit blindly through it. @McGingerNut welcome and well done on your huge loss and do stick around. 🙂

Towanda12 · 19/04/2026 15:51

I've only written one post..girding myself up to starting...well I'm still girding myself up..although i have ordered and received my first dose..the box looks at me sharply every time I open the fridge.

What I have done is cleaned up my eating and cut nack on drinking which i think will stand me in good stead when i finally start.

I dont really know what my problem is...have i internalised 'it's cheating', do I feel it's 'giving up' on myself doing it alone? The rational side of my head is saying no, it's not that..more likely I'm worried about side effects, or being in the 10-15% for whom it doesnt work
..but neither of those are rational thoughts. The side effects are manageable and not a given, if I'm in the 10/15...I'm no worse off thsn now..in a better place as I have more information for my journey. I'm overthinking this and I need the wise women on this thread to give me a talking-to! In the meantime, i M 2kg down on when i posted and havent had a drink for 10 days..so it's partly good!

MoneyJo · 19/04/2026 16:23

It's definitely not cheating, it's support. Tell yourself you don't see glasses as cheating when you want to read something. This is the same thing in my view.

WeAllHaveWings · 19/04/2026 16:28

@Towanda12 take it at your own pace, it took me over a week of it sitting in the fridge before telling dh what it was, then plucking up the courage to inject myself.

I started way back in 2024 when there was less on social media and the “cheating” narrative hadn’t really developed so I was mainly focussed on my health issues and what it could potentially do for me - try to ignore the social media nonsense and do the same when making your decision.

Goingincirclesstill · 19/04/2026 16:36

@Towanda12 I was like that. So scared to start it as in my head I thought it probably wouldn't work and if it failed, I would have tried everything and failed. But I am now on maintenance having gone from 18st 7lb to 8st 7lb so somehow 10 stine in about 18 months. Take that first dose and first steps :)

BunsBoots · 19/04/2026 16:46

I think I’m in the worlds longest stall. My body is still changing shape and size, but the scales aren't moving. How does that work??!

ShrankLastWinter · 19/04/2026 18:54

@Towanda12 you sound really motivated already! I’d also reached a point where I was ready - desperate - to make changes, so I also lost 2-3kg while waiting for my first syringe to arrive. Then the medication corrected whatever was wrong in my hormone setup, so a third of my body weight disappeared over the next 8 months. I was already going to the gym so I’ve carried on with that and am now light, stronger and fitter than I was at 18. I still can’t believe it, after nearly 9 months in maintenance. I’m still surprised to wake up slim every morning.

@BunsBoots i dont know, unless your scales are old and dodgy! But it sounds like you’re getting slimmer and fitter anyway! There’ll probably be a huge whoosh

Me too! I have not lost weight since October, in fact I may be a kilo or two heavier but my measurements have shrunk. Go figure, as my lovely American friend would say!

QueenOfHiraeth · 20/04/2026 00:28

I have been around this thread and Mumsnet since it was all fields and have heard nothing about this community thingy. What and where is it?

MooBaggage · 20/04/2026 07:25

@Towanda12 I get you - I ummed and aaahed for a very long time before ordering MJ. I saw it as a personal failure that this was what I was thinking of doing. Now, my only regret is the time I wasted dithering and not starting earlier!

I don't know your story, but if you have been overweight/obese for a long time, as most of us have been, then this is medicine your body may well be very grateful for and needs. It has helped with so many of my long standing autoimminue conditions, never mind helping me lose weight.

Now you've bought it and it's staring at you from the fridge, just go for it - if it's not for you, you'll make that decision over the next few weeks.

Good luck - let us know how you're getting on and shout if you have any questions as someone on here is probably going to be able to help! And well done for a brilliant start without it - maybe see it as an aid to your work, which it will be anyway, as we still have to make the right choices - it's just more doable with the MJ.

It seems to be a way of assembling long running threads like this one, and eg the 10stone+ one, so that you can see them all together and then create related threads as well. So @WeAllHaveWings has made a maintenance thread. From what I can tell they still show up in the main section like normal as well, it's just a different way to view them. Screenshots attached.

Reginaphalangeeeee · 20/04/2026 09:28

Hmmm I am not lost about this community thing. No PM or anything. If it’s about maintenance then I am definitely not there, still very much in the needing to loose a lot stage 😔

Feeling a bit low and fed up today. Trying to make best choices to put more effort I to see some solid losses again (guilt and worry about funding these jabs for much longer vs need to up a dose).
I actually added x5 clicks extra from my 10mg dose to test effect and decide about dose increase. Haven’t felt any different and coming to realise I might need to go up to see results but this will shorten how long I can stay on jabs. Haven’t felt any to decide between a family holiday and jabs I think and feel so so guilty. 😔

Hope lots of you loosing stay here or I get invited to the community thing.

MooBaggage · 20/04/2026 09:43

@Reginaphalangeeeee I didn't get a pm either! But the group thing just groups together the threads that have been going for a long time - so this thread (and the next, etc!) just stay the same as always - no chance of losing us...

I'm sorry you're feeling a bit down - bloody weight loss and all the issues that go with it is a lifelong thing isn't it? I'm realising this more and more - even though on paper I'm doing well with it all, my head still tells me I'm never going to get there/it's taking too long/it'll never last... 🙄 I suppose I've never been at the stage I am now, where most of the excess weight has actually come off - I'm not used to being successful, so my mind is still telling me I'm not 🙄

Hope you're OK and maybe increasing the dose is a good idea and will set things off in motion again - will keep fingers crossed 💪

Over the weekend I was weighing 3lbs more than mid-week. Have 'lost' 1 of those today - hopefully the other 2 will go this week with lots of water and no alcohol!

Reginaphalangeeeee · 20/04/2026 11:51

Honestly @MooBaggage you are an inspiration. I’m trying hard to stay in your wake as we began this journey together at the same time and you have been so determined and successful. I am really grateful for your posts.

I need one of those ‘big wins’ right now. Not just a loss but a threshold loss if you know what mean. Like ‘BMI under 30’, not being obese anymore… something like that but it all feels so far away.
I am close to being under 15stone soon but 14’s bracket still seem pretty big to me and know I’ll be in it a long long time and ultimately aiming 13’s I think.
I am 90lbs down now so think 100lbs will be a great landmark.
But it seems this will coincide with BMI getting under 30 I am looking really at 10-14 lbs for my next landmark either way which will also be me out of the 90kg category.

Trying to stay positive and know I need to just celebrate each lbs or KG or NSV but none are coming right now. One benefit of this long stall, skin on my arms and neck has improved and looks normal ish now.
my CT5K going well and I’m nearly running 30mins in a row now which was like something impossible at the start (I last did it in lock down 6years ago).
Clothes size and appears seems very static.
Hair is very thick right now and people have said I look healthy.

Hoping I can get there and live with myself with the money I spent seeing as we likely can’t afford a family holiday now. Last summer having a holiday planned was really motivating.

MabelSpan · 21/04/2026 14:07

Gosh, I have been on a really low dose since Christmas and upped it to 4mg yesterday to get back on track, only I had completely forgotten how annoyingly horrid the gooseplimply shivers are!
I am freezing! It is not good being such an MJ lightweight! I do hope it doesnt last! 🙄

SecondCircuit · 21/04/2026 16:39

Congratulations to all who are losing and commiserations to those who like me cannot shift the scales.

Holiday didn’t help. And neither did the fridge filled to the brim due to student dc being home. I’m cooking, tasting, hosting, eating, sampling, nibbling, snacking, grazing and drinking.
No bloody wonder then, is it?

SecondCircuit · 21/04/2026 16:50

Got M&S eva bootcut jeans and Magic Sienna pair. Both size 16, looking ok but I wouldn’t exactly say they are very comfortable.. And I was really hoping to slip into 14.
Quite a bit to lose still, and right now the only thing I’m losing is patience.

SecondCircuit · 21/04/2026 16:55

Pancake arse and still size 16.
Disheartening.

MabelSpan · 21/04/2026 17:39

It is the loose skin on my upper arms that is the worst bit for me. I am now trying to find half sleeve tops. I dont notice it when I am standing but being a gardener I spend most of my time bending forward and down and it looks awful, saggy wrinkly skin. I am sad I wont be able to wear vest tops or normal t shirts anymore 🙁

RobinEllacotStrike · 21/04/2026 17:51

I hope this isn't super annoying, but old MJ gimmer here to say stick with it.

Over 18 months of losing weight on MJ I can honestly say for a year of that I felt like I wasn't losing weight it was so "slow" - yet her I am an unfathomable 52 kilos lighter, healthy BMI, fit & stong like never before - after DECADES of being morbidly obese & feeling utterly helpless in it all. I'm 58 & truly feeling better than ever. Never in a million years did I think this would happen. And I had holidays, celebrations, some booze, cake on birthdays etc. i.e. I didnt do this perfectly, but I kept my life full and busy & interesting while doing this.

Stick with the plan.
Keep your fluids up.
Do that exercise ( @Reginaphalangeeeee I'm beyond impressed with your running)
Eat the protein fruit & veg.
Remember @infos tips for plateau busting - save them on your phone

If you look back over some of the earlier threads I promise you you will see several women now in the same position as me, experiencing all the feelings, frustrations and struggles you are having now.

I guess there will be GLP1 outliers, but what you are going through feels very familiar to me.

52 kilos down, BMI from 41 to 24, waist/height/hip ratios all excellent, jean size dropped from 22 (snug) to 12.

(I'm still to figure out maintenance of course)

💐👖

My arms are so bad - I joke in yoga "whats the Shar Pei doing in here"

ah fuck it you know - I'm beach ready saggy butt, shar pei arms and all. Bring on summer!

SecondCircuit · 21/04/2026 17:58

@MabelSpan - give it time. Everybody on here who’s lost some considerable weight say that excess of wrinkly skin, be it stomach, arms, thighs, improves with time.

Skin just needs to catch up. In the meantime -moisturise and get some tops with elbow length sleeves. I think we are lucky now as boat neck tops with longer short sleeves are back en vogue.

MabelSpan · 21/04/2026 18:13

Hahaha @RobinEllacotStrike I am morphing into a Shar Pei! As a dog lover, I kind of like that! 😂
Thanks @SecondCircuit I know you are right, Im just not sure where this Shar Pei flesh (as it shall forever be known as) could actually go!

It reminds me of something @QueenOfHiraeth on here said some time last year. She said her friend waved at her from across the road, so she raised her arm and waggled her bingo wing back at her! This still makes me laugh 😂
