Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 12!

A supportive, idea-sharing thread for those with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. We're a mixture of newbies, nearly theres, there and maintaining and we know what it's like to have what can seem like a mountain to climb - but we also know we can do it!

Nothing is off topic except referral codes 😊

I've asked about this on the March starters thread but someone here might have more experience.
My first two weeks were great, lost 7lb and had good suppression on 2.5. This week I don't really think I've eaten more, have calorie counted and all good, but I've not lost anything since Friday (I always weigh daily). I'm a bit discouraged as I had planned to do two months on 2.5 and then see.

SecondCircuit · 24/03/2026 12:34

@MoneyJo - please do not be discouraged.
Weight loss - and on MJ especially - is not regular or linear. You will notice many plateaus on the way. I was also often doubtful like you and many others here pointed this truth to me.

I had a loong stall recently - around 75kg - for probably 2 weeks or longer.
Then all of sudden drop to 73 today, in spite of a very indulgent long weekend.

The key is consistency and patience.
You will be rewarded👌🙂

MoneyJo · 24/03/2026 12:37

Thank you @SecondCircuit

Do you think I should step up to 5 already or give it a go staying on 2.5 another month? Or maybe I should try for the 3.75 step. Hmmm!

SecondCircuit · 24/03/2026 13:03

@MoneyJo - I cannot advise you, I can only tell you that it is possible to lose weight on MJ small doses.

I was on 2.5 mg for 4.5 months and only then decided to increase to 3.75mg (1.5 months now).
I have lost over 4st so far (73 kg today from my SW 100kg) which I am happy with.

I am not planning to go up to 5mg.

My chief reason for remaining on low doses was huge worry it might be very difficult to wean myself off Mounjaro. It remains my concern that the appetite will return with a vengeance…

SecondCircuit · 24/03/2026 13:10

And I want to have the option of going up up if needed…

MooBaggage · 24/03/2026 15:15

Hi @MoneyJo - I agree with @SecondCircuit - it's definitely a marathon, not a sprint!

I also weigh daily and am well used to seeing the scales go up (like this morning, showing I'm up 1lb🙄) and down over the days. My top tip is to take the lowest weight of the week and record that, if you are recording weight - don't get caught up on the daily ups and downs - just take the lowest weight as the weight you are at right now. If the weight continues to go up, then fair enough, start to record it and plan differently - but if you are on MJ and within your calories etc, the tiny flucuations will be just that.

For me, it's about food noise, rather than weight loss speed - I really regret moving up from 2.5mg to 5mg after 4 weeks, because I was actually losing weight and my food noise had disappeared, but I thought I should go up to 5mg. Lesson learned since then and I have stayed on each dose for as long as I have felt in control, able to make sensible choices etc. My weight loss has massively slowed down, inevitably, but as long as I'm in control it's all good.

So maybe assess your food noise and eating control as you go along, and trust that the weight loss is on a downwards trajectory - with inevitable blips along the way!

@MooBaggage There's a bra being hawked on TikTok at the moment called Curlady which I was debating trying. it has a very deep back which appealed to me although I don't know if I could manage it
Apparently they advise to size up in cup size though

Not bra’s but keep seeing so much adverts for:
Halara leggings (a bra for your butt it appears)
And shapermint cami (compression hides apron tum and bra in one).

Anyone able to comment on these products. I am very tempted!!! Have to wait I til
pay day though!

I love Halara. I've not tried any leggings but the jeans are the comfiest things in the world! They come up big though. I've just bought a size small in some cords and they fit! I would say I'm currently a 14-16.

MoneyJo · 25/03/2026 15:22

Thanks so much @SecondCircuit and @MooBaggage I dropped a pound today so it's at least going in the right direction. I don't think I'll increase for my second pen, I'll try another month on 2.5. I definitely have so much less food noise and less appetite.

QueenOfHiraeth · 25/03/2026 20:02

@Reginaphalangeeeee I second Halara jeans are amazing although I didn't need to size up in the wide leg high-waist jeans and actually had to return the black work pants as they were too tight. I am a bit weird with how things fit me though
I have had some nice bits off Tiktok shop at great prices and they have been great with returns

Weekly weigh in this morning ( I do jump on the scales sometimes between the weekly one, but it is hard mentally when it fluctuates so weekly is better for me). Happy to report that on week 5 weigh in im now 13.5lbs lighter 🎉

I've just done my 2nd 5mg pen, hoping it continues being ok side effects wise.

Thanks for making me think about my wheels, really hadn't thought about the weight loss and what it would mean for my wheels etc. Although I did think that hopefully my next set would be one of the lighter models as I won't need the reinforced xl type @alltablenochairs

I've got a few sets of wheels but my main set is my powerchair. She's (yeah I did name my chair!) an invacare tdx sp2 powerchair with a rea azalea seat unit. The main difference is that I occasionally have to adjust the lateral supports and hip supports inwards. I've also noticed that the battery life lasts a lot longer now. Out of sheer interest what's your chair?

I totally hear what you say in terms of XL equipment though. Hopefully your next set of wheels is even more fabulous! As is your weight loss to date. You're doing so well.

StatisticalStitches · 25/03/2026 22:22

Thanks, your weight loss is helping me know that this totally do able. I haven't come across many on wli that aren't heavily exercising.

It's funny, we've named our car but not my wheels. I'm not sure why I haven't. I have the RangerXL by mobility+.

There hasnt been much in the way of exercising this week. Some weeks I do, some I dont. I've had a fairly busy few weeks- kids and some direct client work (I'm SE).

alltablenochairs · 25/03/2026 22:59

A whole ago I posted asking about jeans. I don't wear them as a rule and didnt even own a pair. I generally prefer elasticated waist and loose fit trousers. A few people recommended Halara and I got a pair there.

My oldest told me that Primark had some in a style called 'joggers' so I got myself a pair. Got a size that's too big because I still cant get used to the size I am now. I've removed the back pockets though so can't return them but they didnt cost me that much so not the end of the world. However the general fit and style of them is fantastic- will go and get a new pair after work tomorrow. They're vaguely reminiscent of the super wide leg jeans I used to wear in the 90's.

I do have some of the Halara wide leg work trousers bought off Vinted. Love them and so flattering. I wear a large but normally 16 (occasionally 14) in trousers.

But the leggings… I am intrigued but the but lift & hiding of apron tummies!!!

I've decided to go with 3.75 for my next month so will order a 5 pen. I will switch to a different provider to a cheaper deal but I wanted to ask you seasoned MJers is there any company to avoid? Thinking of med express next. And how long do they take to come. Last time I collected in person the same day from Asda.

Also will there be more than 2.5 left in my pen for my last dose tonight? If so can I use up more? Id love to try 3.75 already today.

I bought my last pen from MedExpress, my 7th switch, and they were a bit more thorough than the others.

They queried something on my NHS/GP Summary Care Record and asked me to send my blood test results.

Once I sent it, my order was approved and I got it the following day - it took 3 days in total.

Hi all,

i had a funny NSV when I injected this week that I'm sure all of you would appreciate...

I mainly inject in my stomach (5cm from belly button) and since the beginning I struggled to inject in the under the belly button because I couldn't really see it as my stomach was so big.

But... this week, I only had to give my a little pull abd I could see the whole area without having to contort myself...!

I felt so chuffed...! 😁

SmallTreeDeepRoots · 26/03/2026 14:06

Fourth jab last night and weekly weigh in this morning. BMI now under 40! So “very obese” instead of “massively obese”! Feeling good. I’m not counting calories or analysing food at the moment but expect I will have to at some point. Exercise is going well.

SW 5/3 115.4
CW 26/3 109.6
1st target 111.5 - BMI under 40 26/3!
2nd target 105 - weight at 40yo

MoneyJo · 26/03/2026 14:08

Thank you @maz99
Good going @SmallTreeDeepRoots

I've just had a bit of an issue placing the order for my next pen. I've switched provider and sent all the evidence but it has asked what month I started. I said March but it won't accept it because it has to be in the past! No space for the actual date. If I put February they will know from the photo evidence I started in march!

Which provider and how many weeks since your last order?

Med Express, 3 and a half weeks since last order. So that was beginning of March. In the end I did put February and it got through.

Well done losers and congratulations on the NSV @MooBaggage, I totally relate to what you are saying - my head hasn't caught up with my body. I think it might take a few months of maintenance for me to see myself at that size.

SW: 15st 5.5lb
CW: 10st 6.5lb
Loss: 69lb
Current BMI: 25.96
Target Weight 1: 12st 1lb (overweight BMI) - Achieved!
Target Weight 2: 10st 1lb (healthy BMI)
Target Weight 3: 9st 5.5lb (6st loss)
Final Target: 8st 8lb - 9st 1lb (I think...)

A measly 1lb to go my next mini target of 5st weight loss - I am going to see if I can get there by the end of this month, but that's unlikely as DH, DC and I went out and had a lovely meal at our local Greek restaurant last night - dips, breads, fried calamari and souvlakia are probably not going to help that cause 😂
