A supportive, idea-sharing thread for those with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. We're a mixture of newbies, nearly theres, there and maintaining and we know what it's like to have what can seem like a mountain to climb - but we also know we can do it!

Nothing is off topic except referral codes 😊

That's amazing @Bunnyjo
Does anyone take electrolytes? If so why and how? Thanks.

GiveMeWordGames · 29/03/2026 14:24

Well done @Bunnyjo ! And I love Greek food so much it's worth it, and actually I reckon it's pretty healthy and WLI compatible compared with other options like pizza and pasta.

@MoneyJo I only ever used electrolytes a few times in the early days of SE when diarrhoea hit, in the same way I would if I'd had a regular upset stomach. I had some dioralyte sachets left over from a holiday stash and just used those.

If you're not struggling with SE, while eating a balanced diet and drinking a sensible amount of water, I'm not sure it's necessary to regularly supplement with electrolytes.

MoneyJo · 29/03/2026 14:28

That's really helpful, thanks @GiveMeWordGames

NewbieMJ · 29/03/2026 15:54

I cannot believe this is thread number 20!

I popped off for a bit - my Mum died in November and it has been a difficult time.

The scales (AKA "me") buggered about for 3 months, but got back on track after a holiday in January (my Mum was so delighted with my weight loss, so I am channelling her to get going and get to target).

Anyway, as some of you know, my weight loss is slower than most at the best of times, and on I plod, but I am, at last, down 7 stone💪

1 stone to go, and I am bloody well going to get there! So, back here being accountable.

Size 14 and loving it. Have tonnes of energy and feeling better (55) than I did in my 20's and 30's. Back to my beloved keto which makes me feel great (carbs and sugar hate me and I hate how awful they make me feel).

Sept 2024: 18 stone 11
Now: 11 stone 11

(Hoping this inspires all the newbies as it really is life-changing, no matter how long it takes and this particular thread is so motivating and full of wise, wonderful woman who champion us all).

ShrankLastWinter · 29/03/2026 20:58

Glad to see you back now @NewbieMJ but sorry for your loss. That’s amazing progress! 7 stone!

@MoneyJo i took electrolytes for a bit while I was losing fast and training a lot. Also when my blood pressure got a little low.

MoneyJo · 29/03/2026 21:55

That's amazing @NewbieMJ what a great loss. Sorry to hear you have lost your mother. I'm sure she would be proud of you.
Thanks @ShrankLastWinter

Hi all,

i had a funny NSV when I injected this week that I'm sure all of you would appreciate...

I mainly inject in my stomach (5cm from belly button) and since the beginning I struggled to inject in the under the belly button because I couldn't really see it as my stomach was so big.

But... this week, I only had to give my a little pull abd I could see the whole area without having to contort myself...!

I felt so chuffed...! 😁

Brilliant NSV @maz99 ! I remember a smiliar thing happening - when I realised there were fewer rolls of tummy to have to get through to do the jab! Obvs the tummy is still in existence, but there is so much less of it! Well done 😊😊😊

@NewbieMJ I'm so sorry for your loss 😔❤️ It's lovely your Mum got to see you doing so brilliantly and well done for coping with such a difficult time - I know that something like this for me would have been the reason to pile weight on in the past - and you are so near to where you want to get to - you are brilliant xxx

I've been away this weekend, catching up at a friend's house and doing lovely things like spending too much money at a garden centre and drinking champagne 😃

So didn't have any expectation from the scales this morning, but have lost 1lb which means I've got to the 100lbs lost figure...! Bonkers.

13.1.25 SW 20st 3lbs. BMI 43.0
30.3.26 CW 13st 1lbs. BMI 27.8

Living happily in Onederland today - next stop, moving into the land of 12 stones....

GiveMeWordGames · 30/03/2026 08:51

Hurrah for onederland, @MooBaggage ! The 12s are beckoning.....😁

So sorry to hear about your Mum @NewbieMJ .I think it's lovely that she's continuing to inspire you on your journey. My Mum is delighted by my weight loss too (she did need to be reassured first that I wasn't wasting away from something sinister) Bloody well done on hitting a 7 stone loss despite your grief.

@maz99 excellent NSV!

I'm noodling down very slowly now towards 11stone (4lbs under GW) which is roughly where I want to be before I actively start trying to maintain. I passed my 1 year mounjversary just under a week ago at 11st 2.75. 6st 1.25 lbs down from where I started. Could not possibly have imagined that last March.

I'm on my second 7.5 pen on the way down and have started stretching it out between the doses. Just 8 days at the moment. I'm going to aim for 2 x 7.5mg doses and then 3 x 5mg from this pen, then move down to a 5 pen.

UnimaginableWindBird · 30/03/2026 09:53

The scales today showed that I've lost 4 stone since my highest weight last summer. And only 5lb to go until I have a BMI of 24.9, so I'm hoping to get into that "normal" zone by the end of April.

Lots of good news this morning! Nice work everyone!

I’ve been in maintenance for 8 months now, as long as I was losing. At the moment I’m traveling and away from scales which I’m finding difficult. Need the reassurance that I’m not gaining, even though I’m eating more or less as usual. Full of mind games, this whole business.

Timetofindme · 30/03/2026 11:26

@bardosya thanks - thats from a month ago so already got and used one but thank you!

Sam187 · 30/03/2026 11:26

Hi all,

Sorry I've been a little AWOL! Lots been happening over the last month, including having an offer accepted on a new place to live (first time buyers), handing in my notice and getting ready for the move and starting my new job.

That alongside birthdays etc and I've definitely been bobbing along in a bit of a plateau. I'm 3st 8.5lbs down, and feel like I've been so close the th 4st for so long now and not quite getting there. Need to knuckle down and go back to basics. I know I've not been drinking enough water and snacking a little more. The plus is that I haven't gained through the chaos of life.

I increased to 8.75mg from 7.5mg this week. The nausea came quickly but keeping it at bay with water and electrolytes. I've been on 7.5mg since early Dec so definitely time to move up I think.

NSV - I have gone from 42EE to a 34DD bra size, the change in back is wild to me. I've also been living in my too big, baggy clothes so long, that now when I've bought a few vinted bits, my brain can't catch up with my size and tells me they're too small. They're not, I'm just not drowning in fabric. Does anyone else get this?

The final NSV for me is I've gone completely out of my comfort zone and have signed up to be in a musical! I'll be taking to the stage in my first adult production in May. Terrifying, but thrilling and something I wouldn't have done this time last year.

Well done to all of the regulars who keep us all going... Particular shout out to @MooBaggage with that fabulous 100 ✨ you must feel INCREDIBLE!!

Timetofindme · 30/03/2026 11:37

@Sam187 100% get the clothes thing. I keep taking clothes (and underwear) out and being convinced they couldn't possibly fit me - and im still on the losing journey - my brain cant wrap itself round the fact they fit, and im really struggling to let go of clothes / move down a size until they're literally falling off. I wonder if its because ive tried to lose weight so often and never managed to get there, that my brain cant catch up that this is really happening. My wondering is - will it ever!?

I think that's what it is, the idea of it not working out and having got rid of things. Coupled with the 'I haven't lost that much yet. But tell that to the hoody that now goes to your knees 🙈. I do also wonder if the brain will ever catch up!

MooBaggage · 30/03/2026 15:33

Yep - I've just received 2 x Vinted Tshirts today which are both size 16 and had my usual thought of how ridiculously small they look and what a waste of money, as they'll never fit me - then I try them on and they fit perfectly 🙄 Somehow I can't accept I am definitely now a size 16 top and 14 bottom. The clothes look teeny tiny and I still think I look so big - it's an impossible puzzle for my very tired mind to solve...!

Timetofindme · 30/03/2026 19:12

I ordered some new gym leggings (from vinted) one size down from what ive been wearing (yup - kept wearing them until they got so big i was at risk of flashing and got fed up with pulling them up all the time).

Theyre too big. I dont know how. My brain does not compute having to drop 2 sizes but they're baggy round the knees and the waist and look absurd

Questions1234 · 30/03/2026 19:48

I struggled massively with the whole clothes size thing too. I thought my brain had caught up a bit (am gently heading into maintenance) but I went bra shopping today and had the whole - that’s a doll sized bra, but it fitted 🤯🤯

Has anyone come across any supportive maintenance threads? I have a question about dosing which I’ll also ask here, but aware lots on here (including me!) aren’t at maintenance yet, so keen to reach a large audience of people in maintenance.

My issue is around balancing appetite suppression, food noise and dose. I’m slowly increasing my food intake and appetite wise feel I can decrease my dose a bit more (struggling to eat enough early in the week), but I’m finding food noise is coming back. It’s manageable, but what I loved about MJ was being free from thinking about food All The Time. I don’t know why I’m surprised that my food noise and appetite are out of step (as I knew my food noise wasn’t just about hunger), but keen to get advise from those further along on whether I should dose for the noise, or the appetite?

Grateful for any pointers.

Timetofindme · 30/03/2026 20:01

@Questions1234 doll sized bra just made me properly laugh! 😂

alltablenochairs · 30/03/2026 23:24

@Sam187 I see your hoodie and I raise you a grey knitted cardie. This thing is way too big for me bit it's an old favourite and I'm not ready to give it up yet.

@UnimaginableWindBird thats an absolutely fantastic loss. I hope you get to your goal soon.

I'm with everyone else in the clothes and looking like they are too small to fit but do. I've picked up said Halara jeans and on first glance they look like something my 12 year old would wear. However they fit like a glove. Not sure what I think of this considering my usual trousers are generally elasticated waist and loose fit. I do need to get some more bras but I am waiting until I next go and see my Mum (a 7 hour drive away) and will go to the lingerie shop. It's the sort of place that measures by eye.

On the topic of shrinking someone I know professionally and see every so often said to me that every time they see me I am shrinking. I'll take that as a compliment.

Onegramatatime · 31/03/2026 05:39

Hi, everyone. This looks like a long running thread. Can i join you all? I started Mj last month.

After kids, my new normal weight lay in the overweight category, though to look at me you would not think so. Over the last 3 years, I had added just over 30kg to that normal weight. I was now obese, BMI wise. I tried losing weight, i have always been able to do so easily - this time, it took me a year to lose 6kg. Then gain it back.

I had gone up 2 dress sizes, developed high cholesterol, warned i was becoming prediabetic, developing arthritis in the knees and starting to puff my way upstairs but was continuously told I looked great, i couldn't possibly be obese.

6 jabs in and the waistband of my skirts are starting to feel more comfortable. I seem to have found quiet. I now understand that i had food noise.
I am on 2.5mg and losing slowly. I paced my jabs to every 9 days because the appetite suppression was very strong and I could barely eat a whole apple. I am now back to every 7 days and that's working well for now.

I weigh every 1 to 2 weeks. I have lost 7 kg since i started Mj.

MoneyJo · 31/03/2026 07:57

Hello I start my second pen on Thurs. I got 5mg but until yesterday I would say 2.5 was going well. I'm thinking I'll just go up to 3.75. Please can someone talk me through the clicks for this?

Also there is still some left in the old pen - I thought I could just stick a new needle on and get it out as normal but it seems not?
