A supportive, idea-sharing thread for those with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. We're a mixture of newbies, nearly theres, there and maintaining and we know what it's like to have what can seem like a mountain to climb - but we also know we can do it!

Nothing is off topic except referral codes 😊

So close to that 7st milestone, @MooBaggage !! Fabulous. I seem to be following a not dissimilar pattern in that I lose about 1-1.5lbs, then bob up and down or go nowhere in an annoying manner for between 1-2 weeks, then lose a bit again.

@Questions1234 well done, that's an incredible achievement to have hit a healthy BMI in just over a year from 46.

@StatisticalStitches and @MoneyJo glad things are still moving along smoothly for both of you in your early days.

NSV - I dared to buy a bikini from Vinted this week and it actually looks....ok! We've booked a holiday for early June and I'm already so excited about what I'll be able to wear.

AND I hit my goal today. 🍾 6 stone off. I'm going to keep going for a few more pounds to give me wriggle room for getting down to a low dose/coming off but I made it! 💪

Started March 24th 2025. Mid 50s. 5ft 8.

SW: 17st 4 BMI 36.8
CW: 11st 4 BMI 24

I've gone from a size 22/24 42F bust on top to 14/16 36/38D and in trousers & jeans from a 20 to 12/14. I can't quite believe it.

StatisticalStitches · 12/03/2026 08:50

Feeling a bit disappointed, I gained in my 3rd week. Only half a pound but it's still not the big losses you see advertised. Hopefully it's just a blip and I will have a loss next week 🤞I did my 4th jab last night, woke this morning with a headache but I know I didn't drink enough yesterday. Picking up my 5mg pen today for next week. NHS want me to titrate up to 7.5mg then I'm reviewed in the clinic. I've got dietician and physio next week so will be interesting to see what they think with my progress.

StatisticalStitches · 12/03/2026 08:51

Congratulations @GiveMeWordGames you give me hope that I can still do this 🙏

MooBaggage · 12/03/2026 08:51

Yay!! @GiveMeWordGames !!! Congratulations!! 😍 You made it! I bloody love it when people get to their target - so inspiring 💪💪💪

Two things. Do you weigh every day? I know it can be controversial if people have a bad history with dieting/obsessiveness etc but I have found it so useful in seeing just how much things fluctuate in between the losses. Whereas if you only do it weekly and weigh day coincides with an upward blip caused by water retention etc it's potentially more disheartening than just hopping on the scales each day.

And, it's easy to be mislead by just how many people DO lose well on 2.5 but don't lose sight of the fact that it was never intended as a therapeutic dose. I assume as you're NHS prescribed you must be T2D which might affect how long it takes to really get going. @InfoSecInTheCity might have more insight on that as she was also prescribed for T2D.

Thought it had been a while since I’d checked in. A few notable milestones for me - some better than others…

I’m finally a healthy bmi (just!) for the first time in my adult life - down from a bmi of 46 when I started in Jan 25. However, this has come off the back of a grief diet as we had our beloved pet put down last week. I know there are other Sen parents on here who will be able to picture quite how traumatic it’s all been. Though it does feel like a sort of win that instead of reaching for the chocolate, I’ve actually been forcing myself to eat as I’ve felt physically sick (actually wondered if I had a sickness bug).

A rather odd NSV which has been creeping up on me, but I’ve been thinking wtf, is that my armpits are now too concave to shave. I had no idea one could lose weight from one’s armpits?!? Is this a thing, or do I have a weird body?? What do people do?? Hair removal cream?

Finally a win I’m v proud of myself on is that I’ve smashed my pb for running - distance and speed. Again, driven by grief, and not impressive speed/distance for “proper” runners, but I’m v proud of myself!

As always loving everyone’s updates…

This is so so so amazing well done @Questions1234
Completely get the grief diet (lost my dad last year starting this MJ journey).
I too started in January with a BMI 46 and have lost over 6 stone, meaning my BMI is now 32. I am proud of myself and it has been sustainable loss with lots of other healthy changes (I too run now) and dress size 24 to 14-16.

Honestly so happy for you but WLI and other peoples/celebrities fantastic achievements and transformations have now made it feel like that this is the ‘norm’. People are getting smaller at the same rate or in most cases faster than me so I still feel big and a sorta failure at times.
I watched the Ozemoic effect doc last night and somehow have this niggling feeling of comparison that my losses aren't as good as other peoples or as they should be (in part because I didn't set a timeframe or goal beyond ‘overweight catagory’). Really wish I didn't feel this and I suspect it is common for those of us who have been here a while and follow others journeys and celebrate with them.

Everyone should celebrate these wins which do spur on others and act as inspiration, but if you are like me and easily critical of yourself, how do you shhhhh that voice of comparison and feeling that I should be further now and it's costing a bloody arm and a leg so money guilt too.

I do realise this is all a bit silly but suspect others feel like this too so posting my thoughts. I mean any losses, stone, BMi score, dress size, cholesterol, reaching a further away body part are all amazing.

Truly, well done @Questions1234! I am
So sorry about your pet too. This grief thing is awful and I realise that even time doesn't heal that wound but you learn to live alongside it. Only advise is talk lots about loved ones not here, I think it's the main thing that helps. Xxx

SmallTreeDeepRoots · 12/03/2026 20:13

May I join? Just did 2nd jab yesterday. 50kg to get to top of healthy BMI and it seems a very long way off.

SW 5/3 115.4 kg 41 BMI
CW 12/3 113.1 kg. 40 BMI

Lovely to hear tales of success and to read what worked for you all.

ShrankLastWinter · 12/03/2026 21:42

Welcome @SmallTreeDeepRoots and congratulations on starting!

Do you have any smaller goals in mind before the big one? I think it helps to set and celebrate them. I mean, I was pleased about every pound that went, but especially things like 10kg off, getting under 100kg, 90… Got to enjoy your progress!

dimples76 · 12/03/2026 22:04

@Reginaphalangeeeee your weight loss and feelings are similar to mine. I think that comparison is definitely the thief of joy - but it's hard not to. I too started with a BMI of 46 last January and it is now down to 34.

I put weight on over Christmas, then switched to Wegovy which didn't seem to work for me so back on mj but had to start at 2.5. So I have not had any real losses since December. I also find it depressing thst food noise has fully returned and whilst I thought I had embedded healthier habits, I think that was wishful thinking when it comes to food. That said I am.now a regular at the gym and feel much better in myself. Hopefully as I move back up the doses on mounjaro I will see improvement. It's just so expensive so though and I am.a single parent currently at risk of being made redundant.

Thanks! Yes, I’ve worked out kg for various BMI points (40, 35, 30). Also a few historic milestones (eg I was 92kg after second pregnancy, and 77kg at 21 which felt enormous at the time and now feels like unimaginably slender). So waypoints to mark and celebrate. But in the same vein I’ve been here so many times before and never made significant headway so I almost don’t want to jinx the process by thinking too much about it. It has to work this time and I’m just taking it one mouthful at a time. Any long term loss is a positive.

MoneyJo · 12/03/2026 22:46

People on here who have lost large amounts, have you had any problem with loose skin? I remember a friend of mine lost 8 stone and had a lot of loose skin and I am a bit worried about this.

alltablenochairs · 13/03/2026 00:04

@MoneyJo. I've lost around 45kg/7 stone to date and gone from a BMI of 45 to a BMI of 30 to give it context.

Yes, I do have some loose skin. It's on the top of my arms, thighs and stomach mainly. Mostly my stomach. There are some minor wrinkles on my calves but you'd need to be looking very closely at this and for me to have them stretched in a certain way. I've been overweight/obese/obese ++ for all of my adult life so the loose skin is absolutely non surprising for me.

The only person who really sees me undressed is DH. I've bern married to him for 19 years (I think- have lost count!) so I'm long past caring what he thinks. In terms of clothing I tend to dress more conservatively. Think long trousers, dresses/tunics that cover my rear, cardigans e.t.c. This is partly for practical reasons. I cant maintain my body temperature (not a strictly MJ thing) so need to wrap up warm. I also have PLE (polymorphic light eruption aka sunlight allergy) so unless I want to spend the summer fantasising about hedgehogs, doormats and sandpaper covering up is kinda essential. The other reason is that I'm a wheelchair user and covering up is very much a modesty thing for me. If you're wearing a dress one gust of wind is all it takes for your underwear to be on show to the world!

Am I bothered about it? No. I see it more as a badge of progress and look how far I have come kind of way. Do I care about what anyone else thinks? No. It's only really DH or a healthcare professional who would see me in a state of undress anyway.

MooBaggage · 13/03/2026 06:31

@MoneyJo Yes, I've fairly recently started looking like a piece of crepe paper around my stomach! I'm finding it quite fascinating at the moment, as my whole life I've only ever been round and big and now suddenly I am a lot less round and am wrinkly! I don't dislike it, I'm just having to adjust to this being my body, which is a bit freaky sometimes!

People further down the line than me have said that the loose skin thing sorts itself out after a year or two - but I'm just thinking this is my body now! Dp doesn't seem to mind and no-one else sees it, as I'm unlikely to wear crop tops 😃 I did wear a bikini on holiday recently, but I figured that if I was on a beach that was hot enough to wear one (wish I was back there!), then I wasn't going to worry about random people seeing my body! But that's the joy of being older - just don't give a fuck 😁

@SmallTreeDeepRoots welcome! I get you re: needing this to be the time it works - I felt like that when I started - almost like this was my last chance before obesity finished me off. A year down the road and it has been a life saver and changer for me - and I am sure will be for you too. 💪💪💪

I also have a trillion small targets - am such a reward seeker, and very competitive with myself, so have to pat myself on the back about every 3lbs lost or so 😁

Hi,
I've been lurking here for a couple of weeks but thinking about WLIs for months. I'm 125.5kg with bad knees and increasingly poor mobility and fatigue..at 66 it really is time to get a grip. I've looked at various online providers and trustpilot and reviews and am narrowing down to juniper, pharmulous or possibly the new boots pilot scheme. Has anyone any advice re a 'first' provider and experiences?
Thx

MoneyJo · 13/03/2026 10:46

Welcome @Towanda12
There's a website where you can compare prices of recognised providers.
https://monj.co.uk/discount-mounjaro-price-list/
My big tip is read these threads on here and go for it!

Towanda12 · 13/03/2026 10:47

I should have said, i find all your posts kind, caring, uplifting, helpful, supportive...a wonderfull community I'd love to be part of..mant thx

Towanda12 · 13/03/2026 10:55

Thx Moneyjo, i have looked at the Monj list, i was wondering if anyone had particularly good..or bad experiencws with providers. I know folk change providers a lot..but i was hoping to 'stick' with one, develop a relationship and perhaps use add on services?

QueenOfHiraeth · 13/03/2026 10:59

Hi @Towanda12 and welcome. We are the same age and I am over 6stone down so you have proof this can work and, like you, I just thought I had reached an age where I needed to do this. Go for it and good luck Flowers

@MoneyJo When I am undressed I always think of the old joke that ends "I don't know what that is but it needs ironing". I have done things all wrong though as I haven't exercised enough and am very lazy about moisturising daily plus I am old but like @MooBaggage I have run out of fucks to give Grin

Has anyone here tried things like Slimpod or Noom? I need to get my thinking sorted as I approach maintenance, I know what I need to do but am not doing it well at the moment and thought some kind of psychology might help but I am very cynical. I did a mindfulness course a while back where we did the old raisin exercise and some women were claiming fantastic results from the one thing while I was like the naughty kid sniggering at the back of the class so I'm not sure if this would help me or not. Any thoughts please?

MoneyJo · 13/03/2026 11:43

I tried Noom but it wasn't great. It did help a bit but I kind of knew the stuff really.

For me the issue with overeating has almost always been about the dopamine hit. I don't seem to have that issue with MJ. I'm not looking around for food to give me a dopamine hit. I don't really understand why that's changed but I'm very glad.

QueenOfHiraeth · 13/03/2026 11:53

@Towanda12 Sorry I didn't answer your question about suppliers. I started with Chequp who were a bit like Juniper and offered diet and health coaching. After a while I swapped to an online pharmacy and, after a couple I wasn't impressed with, have ended up with SwiftDoctor who are brilliant. They are quite reasonably priced, respond really quickly to Whatsapp, have been very helpful with support and guidance plus have an excellent maintenance programme when you get to that point.

@MoneyJo Thanks. That's disappointing but what I am fearing. A friend of mine is claiming great results with Noom, which is a reason I thought of it, but I have my suspicions that she may not be being totally open about what she is doing...

SilenceInside · 13/03/2026 11:58

Hi @Towanda12 I don't post much on these >5 stone to lose threads these days, but I just wanted to respond to your question, if that's ok.

I have used Asda, Zava, Pharmacy2U, WePrescribe, Swift Doctor and Lloyds, all with no issue at all, only changing to keep prices down. I wouldn't say that I have built up any kind of relationship with any of them, as there just isn't really any interaction of a kind that would build that up. I doubt there would be even if you paid a lot more for the kinds of "coaching" and apps that some places offer. I think you'd only really get that with some kind of in-person meeting like you might get if you use a local pharmacy that offers monthly "checks" where they might do things like weigh you and discuss what dose to move to/stick with.

Of all your suggested options, the new Boots instore weight loss service seems like it would provide that, as it involves monthly face to face consultations with a pharmacist. But, it's very unclear how much the service would cost and how much the prescriptions would be for Mounjaro or Wegovy.

I am perhaps too cynical but I don't think that any of the add on services are worth the additional costs from the places that offer them.

MoneyJo · 13/03/2026 12:02

I'm sure you're right @QueenOfHiraeth

@Towanda12 to be honest I think the best coaching has been through conversations on here!
