A supportive, idea-sharing thread for those with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. We're a mixture of newbies, nearly theres, there and maintaining and we know what it's like to have what can seem like a mountain to climb - but we also know we can do it!

Nothing is off topic except referral codes 😊

The daftness of the tiktok conspiracy is making me smile.

Well done on getting into the 10s, @Bunnyjo !

@StatisticalStitches ooh, that milk interests me. As much for the increase in calcium as protein. Since my cheese consumption has been reduced to a fraction of what it was I'm very conscious of what I can do to keep up my Ca intake.

I'm not a big milk user in winter but iced coffee season is coming up. 🌞 😁

Jab day today and I'm still bumping around between 11st 4 and 5. Which given it was my birthday weekend is ok, I reckon.

StatisticalStitches · 09/03/2026 08:08

@GiveMeWordGames it was perfect in my porridge this morning. It did need an extra minute in the microwave than "normal" milk, not sure why. But I didn't notice any taste difference etc. It is more expensive too, £2/1L. I'm going to buy one a week for now and see how I get on. 35g of protein for breakfast 👌

Hope you all have a good week ahead.

Hello lovely losers. I haven't been on MN for ages so it's really nice to see so many familiar names on the thread. I thought of you all the other day as I've found a new cottage cheese which I think is genuinely as good as my beloved Longley Farm, albeit quite different. It's called Alter Ego, you can get it in Sainsbury's, and it's very creamy with a tangier, almost yogurt / kefir-like taste because it has live cultures. It won't convert anyone who already hates the stuff but I commend it to the aficionados.

RobinEllacotStrike · 09/03/2026 12:27

Lovely to see you @VelociraptorsVelociRapping - I was thinking of you over the weekend - when I first joined these threads (I think #2) I was having a ramble & you suggested I might be ADHD.

Well we did an ADHD assessment for my 14yo recently & I can no longer ignore that I have 95% of the ADHD traits. I won't be going for any "formal" assessment for myself, but I am looking over my life with new meaning, patience & understanding now. 🙏🏼 💐

Looking into overeating/adhd/dopamine etc now.

thanks for the cottage cheese shout.

This is what happened to me. Looking at ADHD assessment for my daughter and ding!

QueenOfHiraeth · 09/03/2026 15:17

@RobinEllacotStrike I have read that women with ADHD often have weight issues and use food for a dopamine hit. I can't claim to have any particular diagnosis but think I have a fair few foibles and that is definitely me!

This is absolutely true. I've read quite a lot around this.

MooBaggage · 09/03/2026 17:08

Yep.... my dp had a formal assessment for ADHD and I answered the questions at the same time and got the same score... He's now just started on medication - 3 weeks in and it's already making a difference - but the process from assessment to medication has taken around 3 years so I won't be doing it.

But recognising the traits/difficulties/traps we fall into is at least helpful and I definitely have always used food (and alcohol) for the pleasure hits - until Mounjaro - which is partly why I can't ever imagine coming off it entirely! That and the removal of plantar fasciitis and IBS for me means I at least hope to eventually get down to and stay on a 2.5mg dose.

I'm going up to 12.5mg from tonight - am really hoping it puts me back on track both physically and psychologically, in terms of the food noise that's starting to bother me again and bad habits creeping in. It hasn't helped that my damaged ribs are still healing so I've not felt able to do any handweights - even walking has been painful up until the past few days. But am starting to feel much better and my sleep is finally improving - so onwards and downwards, hopefully!

That's interesting @MooBaggage a friend of mine got an ADHD diagnosis and went on meds. The weight dropped off her as a side effect. I guess she wasn't on the same dopamine hunt any more.

On another note, how quickly have people moved up the doses? The friend who first put me onto MJ said she did two months on 2.5 because she felt suppression, then two months on 5. I'm wondering what other people's experience has been.

MooBaggage · 09/03/2026 17:19

@MoneyJo I did 4 weeks on 2.5mg, then moved up because that was the advice given, but I really wish I hadn't - I was losing weight really well and found 5mg very difficult- was instantly very nauseous and I didn't go up to 7.5mg for 4 months. I also crept up to 7.5mg by click counting through to 5.5mg, 6mg, 6.25mg and 6.5mg as I didn't want the nausea to hit me again. Then 7.5mg for 3 months and then 10mg for 5 months.

If you're losing weight well and have no food noise, I would stick to whatever that dose is - why pay more if things are going well..? And I have felt like it's given me longer before I get 'stuck' at the top dose. I have around another 6 months to go before I hit my target of healthy BMI, so I'm hoping I can see it through on 12.5mg - but at least I've got 15mg to go to if I have to!

MoneyJo · 09/03/2026 17:25

That's really helpful, thank you. I'm still only on week 1 of 2.5 so I guess I need to see how I go.

QueenOfHiraeth · 09/03/2026 18:18

@MoneyJo I was very different to others who had effects or side effects at low doses. I had been on Rybelsus tablets for 2 months but had to stop due to shortage and the NHS restricting supplies to diabetics so started Mounjaro and thought I might have felt a slightly reduced level of temptaton on 2.5mg but then realised it was fading, rather than appearing, so was the lingering effect of the tablets wearing off. I went up to 5mg after 1 month and had no effects at all so went up to 7.5mg on month 3 where I got a bit of improvement so stuck there for 2 months but it was at 10mg where I really started to feel it.
Having said that, I have been on 15mg for most of my "journey" and have had hardly any side-effects so think I am a tough nut to crack!

AmberLime · 09/03/2026 18:34

My suppression was minimal until 7.5mg, so I rocketted through earlier doses because they did very little.

I think I had 5 days between my 1st and 2nd jab, then 3 or 4 days between the others. Next pen, 5mg I took every 5 days and that felt right (which is equivalent to 7.5 per week). So I was in my 3rd 7.5mg pen by about 6 weeks in. I then took 7.5mg every 7 days for 5 months and have only just gone up to 10mg

Sam187 · 09/03/2026 18:57

Hey everyone, hope you're all doing well. I've been a little AWOL with a crazy busy month, birthdays, weekends away, new job, offer accepted on a new flat... All go.

I'm still thankfully at my lowest weight, 96.8kg. but the loss has slowed down amongst all of the life events. Still on 7.5mg with a few treats creeping in. I'm debating going up to 8.75mg with the next pen.

I'll try and catch up with the previous posts but there's 100+ to get through, so I'll see where I land.

How's everyone getting on? 💕

QueenOfHiraeth · 09/03/2026 19:18

@StatisticalStitches @RobinEllacotStrike I haven't seen SuperNutrio milk but I always buy BOB milk just because we like it.

BOB is marketed as "skimmed milk that tastes like semi-skimmed" or "semi-skimmed that tastes like whole milk" but it is also filtered and looks to have similar levels of protein at a lower price. The skimmed one has 4.5g protein per 100ml and is £2.49 for 2L but is often on offer with 2 for £4 (it has long expiry as it is filtered

Been a while since I checked in, weight loss is in going slowly, I’m bouncing around 11st 4 at the moment, but I’m pretty sure most of that is water retention. As long as my overall trend is low, I’m ok with that.
had to put off going to the gym this week, as I dug out my sports bra and it’s too big.
One NSV - last week we had a social event at work, and we had a group photo. I had to stand in the front row as I’m short. Normally I hate those photos. I saw it for the time today, and I actually blend in with all the other women! A year ago I would have stuck out like a sore thumb, as the obese one. Now I’m slightly above average!

StatisticalStitches · 09/03/2026 22:33

I'm not that far ahead of you @MoneyJo I will be doing my 4th jab of 2.5mg on Wednesday. I'm already 4kg down in 3 weeks. I've just ordered my 5mg pen for next week - I'm an NHS patient but I'm hoping if I tell them I'm happy on a certain dose I won't have to go up. The consultant was keen to get me up to 10mg, but we will see how I get on.

So far, the appetite supression on 2.5mg has been great, and minimal side effects so far. Slight nausea and headache but I know it's because on those days I didn't drink enough water.

MoneyJo · 09/03/2026 22:36

Interesting. I keep thinking I'm not feeling much suppression but what I am finding is that even if I just fancy eating something out of habit I can really easily just not have it now.

StatisticalStitches · 09/03/2026 22:43

Yes, no longer snacking and no longer fancy anything. Having to make myself have at least 2 meals a day to try to hit my protein and fibre targets. I'm not sure if it's the Mounjaro but I also feel a lot happier / calmer. But maybe that was the very brief visit from the sun last week!

maz99 · 10/03/2026 16:05

Hi everyone... I'm still here... reading rather than posting

@alltablenochairs I've always found that clothes from Sainsburys come up bigger, so I always go down 1 size

@MooBaggage hope you get better soon

@HumBumBum I did see the notice and ordered two 15mg pens - one from MedExpress (205.44 - got 35% discount with blue light card) and PillSorted (£255.98)

I already have two 15mg pens in the fridge, so I will have quite a stockpile. I am hoping to stay on 7.5mg to get 10 doses out of each pen, which should take me to February 2027. I'm hoping that this will get me to maintenance or close, so that when I do order again (after 5 months) 2.5mg will be ok.

I've been on MJ for 6 months 1 week and last week I took my first dose of 6.25mg from 12.5mg pen.

Questions1234 · 10/03/2026 20:01

Thought it had been a while since I’d checked in. A few notable milestones for me - some better than others…

I’m finally a healthy bmi (just!) for the first time in my adult life - down from a bmi of 46 when I started in Jan 25. However, this has come off the back of a grief diet as we had our beloved pet put down last week. I know there are other Sen parents on here who will be able to picture quite how traumatic it’s all been. Though it does feel like a sort of win that instead of reaching for the chocolate, I’ve actually been forcing myself to eat as I’ve felt physically sick (actually wondered if I had a sickness bug).

A rather odd NSV which has been creeping up on me, but I’ve been thinking wtf, is that my armpits are now too concave to shave. I had no idea one could lose weight from one’s armpits?!? Is this a thing, or do I have a weird body?? What do people do?? Hair removal cream?

Finally a win I’m v proud of myself on is that I’ve smashed my pb for running - distance and speed. Again, driven by grief, and not impressive speed/distance for “proper” runners, but I’m v proud of myself!

As always loving everyone’s updates…

ShrankLastWinter · 10/03/2026 21:25

So sorry about your pet @Questions1234 .

But yes, I’ve also been bemused by the armpits 😆

alltablenochairs · 10/03/2026 23:35

Sorry to hear about your beloved pet @Questions1234. They really do occupy a special place in our hearts, don't they. I have a child with additional needs and the loss of a pet is something he would absolutely struggle with. And having just prodded my own armpits, theres definitely concavity there where there wasnt before. Have you tried a men's razor? They tend to be slightly better at going around curves e.t.c if you get one of the flexible ones.

I'm currently away for a few days on a work thing. My hotel room is currently heated to 25 beautifully fabulous degrees. And because it's just me in the room there's no husband or kids to moan about being warm enough to grow tomatoes or parade around in shorts. I do also have 2 duvets on the bed as well. The hotel were mildly concerned about me being cold and initially thought it was a fault with the room. They were relieved to hear it was a me problem and not a room problem. I am also in the Scottish Highlands so it's not overly warm outside anyway.

MooBaggage · 12/03/2026 05:50

@Questions1234 Congratulations on hitting a healthy BMI!! That's an incredible achievement over a year 😍 I'm so sorry.about your pet though - hope everyone's doing OK xxx

Mini whoosh here - this is definitely my pattern these days. 10 - 14 days of nothing and then 2lbs off the following week:

13.1.25 SW 20st 3lbs BMI 43
12.3.26 CW 13st 4lbs BMI 28.2

So I have 1lb to go to hit my 7 stone loss and then 2lb more to hit 100lb loss, which feels bonkers...!

Going to 12.5mg was definitely the right thing to do. I don't tend to have much of a high suppression feeling, but do feel much calmer this week and back in the zone.

Onwards and downwards, lovely losers 😊😊😊
