A supportive, idea-sharing thread for those with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. We're a mixture of newbies, nearly theres, there and maintaining and we know what it's like to have what can seem like a mountain to climb - but we also know we can do it!

Nothing is off topic except referral codes 😊

Hello @MoneyJo and of course welcome to the thread. Thank you for putting your stats up- I totally get that its a big thing to do.

I can only speak for myself but my experience is that MJ for me has been a long haul. I started in a similar place to you and I'm still going.
In terms of eating, I'm not a fan of eating much for breakfast. This morning I had a protein milkshake but that's only because I had a client meeting first thing and didnt want to start feeling hungry around 11am.

In terms of constipation, kiwis work if you can find some that aren't turn your mouth inside out sour like some (lidl kiwis, looking at you here!). I also like fruit pouches. If sucking on Ella's kitchen doesnt do it for you then you can get some more adult ones on Amazon- clearspring brand.

Oh and heated blankets for the win. A few of us on here have found that MJ makes us really feel the cold. In my case its also because I have Other Issues that add to it. My heated blanket really helps me to actually stay warm. My furry dictators (cats) like it just as much as I do.

MoneyJo · 06/03/2026 09:47

@MooBaggage I've downloaded the Shotsy app but it's signed me up for a week free and then 26.99 for the year. Do you pay that? If you don't keep the subscription do you still get good features on the app?

It's so good to be with you all and know I'm not on my own. I'm reading all the previous posts and taking notes!

ShrankLastWinter · 06/03/2026 10:18

Welcome @MoneyJo! I’m another about that height. I also thought I’d be delighted to get to 95kg (and I was), and it felt like an impossible dream to get to 83. I didn’t even let myself contemplate 74.

Now I’m maintaining about or just under 70kg. I feel unbelievably much better. A new life.

In addition to all the excellent advice everyone has given, I’d say: decide in advance what you’re going to eat each day. Eat at regular times. Your body very quickly learns to expect the same sort of quantity of lunch at lunchtime, etc, and adjusts accordingly.

Plan so you are getting a good range of nutrition across the day and the week, then eat small portions and stop when the MJ helps you feel you’re full.

Then of course there are high days and holidays and you don’t want to get all rigid about food, but having a map and getting your body used to a pattern really help.

GlowGetter · 06/03/2026 11:09

Are the Eufy scales accurate? My Renhpo scales are somewhat variable!

MoneyJo · 06/03/2026 11:10

Thank you @alltablenochairs

That's wonderful, @ShrankLastWinter I am definitely at the point where I would be delighted to get to 95kg. You must look amazing!

alltablenochairs · 06/03/2026 11:19

After my message earlier this week I brought myself the size 14 trousers. Grey knitted ones in Sainsbury's and I got a 70% off discount as well. However they're too big but this might be because they are a super wide leg style. Am I really now taking a size 14/M trouser?

I'm very thankful I am sat down because I would look stupid otherwise

MooBaggage · 06/03/2026 11:26

@MoneyJo flipping heck I would have sworn Shotsy was free, but I've just checked my app and you're absolutely right - yes I do pay that subscription 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ I think I probably thought it was worth it to keep me on track as I have ADHD and (like not remembering I pay for it!).I forget things if I don't have tools to help...!

Yes to heated blankets - I have never been so cold as I have in the last year - don't know if it's the MJ or the effects of losing all the heat trapping fat, but many of us on this thread are freeeeezing all the time. My heated blanket broke a few weeks ago and I literally ordered a replacement from Amazon within about 10 seconds so I'd have a new one the next day 🙄 I've also bought an electric blanket for the bed, Norwegian socks, thermal underwear - and I still shiver..!

DH and the kids have taken to wearing shorts in the house. As for me- trousers, cardigan, blankets, heated blanket, a cat or two......

GiveMeWordGames · 06/03/2026 11:49

For me I'm 100% certain it's the MJ and not the loss of, umm, insulation when it comes to feeling cold. Because I felt it within a couple of days of starting.

I'll be interested to see if I go back entirely to my pre-MJ hot menopausal self when I'm off. Or if there's a middle ground where I actually am slightly less toasty due to fat loss, but not baltic the whole time.

RobinEllacotStrike · 06/03/2026 12:01

I've been freezing for most of the 18months I've been on MJ. Never really felt the cold before. Now I can fluctuate between hot flashes & feeling frozen within a breath.
I'm on 15mg now & strangely I don't feel quite as cold - maybe I'm used to it.

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 06/03/2026 12:47

Another vote for a heated throw / blanket! Having one is an essential part of the MJ journey @MoneyJo

I have gone from being able to go outside in winter wearing just jumpers etc to be 6 stone lighter and having to wrap up in thermals when it’s really cold. My Rab coat is one of my treasured possessions as it keeps me toasty.

And give yourself lots of short term goal weights such as dropping to next half stone or into next stone bracket. I think that has helped me quite a bit as opposed to seeing I had 6.5 stone to lose.

MoneyJo · 06/03/2026 13:01

@MooBaggage too funny. I have ADHD too (I think there must be a link between ADHD and overeating). I'll do the trial week then probably just pay for the year.

So interesting about feeling cold. I am always warm - I very rarely get cold but right now I'm feeling quite chilly.

I'm still just hoping it all works but I had the same lunch today I had yesterday, only yesterday I had a bowl of soup too. Today I physically couldn't manage the last mouthful, and definitely won't have any soup.

ReluctantCustomer · 06/03/2026 13:35

And take photos to record your progress, it’s daunting but very encouraging.

alltablenochairs · 06/03/2026 14:19

And keep a pair of trousers back as well.
I've spent far too much time talking about trousers this week but I have a pair that were too small for me when I started my MJ journey.
They're now way, way too big.

Something else to point out is that telogen effluvium is a thing that can (but may not always) happen when you start MJ. I got it big time but in my case it was because I had been really unwell in the few months preceeding. I moulted like a husky for a long time and at one point thought I would lose all my hair. My hair is waist length so it poss looked more alarming than it needed to.

It's now growing back. And just like after having a baby I now have a mane vaguely reminiscent of a lion.

alltablenochairs · 06/03/2026 14:22

Something else as well that's happened to me is that I had to re-do my face ID on my phone and laptop as it had stopped recognising me! More annoying than anything else.

Thankfully my passport only has another 9 months left on it before renewal because that definitely doesnt look even vaguely like me any more!

MoneyJo · 06/03/2026 18:12

Wow @alltablenochairs that must have been scary about your hair.

alltablenochairs · 06/03/2026 18:15

MoneyJo · 06/03/2026 18:12

Wow @alltablenochairs that must have been scary about your hair.

I was very, very unwell beforehand- and the illness was probably the reason for the telogen effluvium, not the MJ as such. The illness was also the reason why I got started on the MJ as well so I suppose every cloud has a silver lining.

MoneyJo · 06/03/2026 19:03

Are you better now @alltablenochairs ?

alltablenochairs · 06/03/2026 19:04

Yes thanks.

It all happened in spring 2024 and I started MJ in October 2024. Onwards and (mostly) downwards!

MoneyJo · 06/03/2026 19:06

Great!

HumBumBum · 07/03/2026 13:47

Hi all, I saw the notice this week about the MJ pens reducing the amount of liquid in them which (for me and anyone who uses the golden dose) puts the price up by 20%. So once more having to consider stock-piling or switching to Wegovy.

Has anyone (recently) bought more than one pen at a good price?

Any suppliers that are happy to do one month on, one month off maintenance plans?
Thanks

QueenOfHiraeth · 07/03/2026 20:32

I saw the same thing @HumBumBum but, personally, I'm not planning to order extra as I'm already one ahead.

It's also worth knowing that it isn't that after a fixed date the pens will all be the new ones, there's no cut-off date as such. Eli Lilly are introducing the new pen from April but, apparently expect there to be at least a couple of months where the old stock works through and the new pens filter in as that runs out.

I've been more fascinated by the latest Tiktok idea that MJ has been watered down with loads of people claiming that their side-effects, suppression and weight loss stopped about 3 months ago and hasn't improved even with increased doses. I'm not sure how Lilly is supposed to have duped all the quality control checks and regulators but it is still fascinating watching the posts!

StatisticalStitches · 07/03/2026 22:27

I wasn't on MJ 3 months ago (half way through week 3) and I've definitely had side effects, appetite supression etc. So I'm not sure the tiktok theory is correct.

Bunnyjo · 08/03/2026 08:11

Hello all and welcome to the newer guys - this group is excellent for support and a gentle kick up the bum/reality check when needed.

I've had another good week this week
SW: 15st 5.5lb
CW: 10st 13.5lb
Loss: 62lb
Current BMI: 27.2
Target Weight 1: 12st 1lb (overweight BMI) - Achieved!
Target Weight 2: 10st 1lb (healthy BMI)
Target Weight 3: 9st 5.5lb (6st loss)
Final Target: 8st 8lb - 9st 1lb (I think...)

The mini target I'd set myself was seeing a new 'big' number on the scale, which I have squeaked under by 0.5lb! My next mini target is 10st 5.5lb which would be 5st weight loss - let's see how close I can get to that by the end of this month.

The kitchen roll analogy really resonates with me - to begin with I didn't really notice the weight loss visually and I don't think others did either. It was mostly about seeing the numbers drop on the scales and steadily dropping clothes sizes. But now I am getting comments and compliments all the time! So I'm not just feeling it, other people are seeing it too.

I needed to buy new bras yesterday and the changing room had those multiple mirrors that mean you can see yourself at every angle whichever way you turn. I used to hate them as every lump, bump and roll was there in stark and unflattering lighting. However, for the first time in a very, very long time, the person I saw in the mirrors yesterday wasn't fat; in fact I'd say they were barely overweight!

I got home and still saw that fat person in my mirror, sadly 😂But I definitely think my head is slowly catching up with my body...

StatisticalStitches · 08/03/2026 22:32

Well done on another good week @Bunnyjo

Has anyone tried SuperNutrio milk? It's been filtered to have double the protein. I've bought one bottle to use on my porridge this week. I'm struggling with hitting my protein target so hoping extra protein in this way will help. As I can't seem to face eating any more than I am. So need to adapt what I'm already having.
