A supportive, idea-sharing thread for those with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. We're a mixture of newbies, nearly theres, there and maintaining and we know what it's like to have what can seem like a mountain to climb - but we also know we can do it!

Nothing is off topic except referral codes 😊

Hi!
I’ve just started wegovy.. 2 weeks in on 0.25, seems to be doing the trick to suppress my appetite. I have approx 7.5 stone to lose. I’ve lost 6lbs so far..

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 04/03/2026 18:45

Reginaphalangeeeee · 04/03/2026 09:42

thanks @MooBaggage
Yes the PMT weight finally off. Not sure if HRT starting will lead to a little gain. Anyone else found that?
I do have a bit of a headache but also popped my MJ from 8mg to 9mg so could be that.
Def have a bit more suppression.

In other good news, the suns out and it it keeping up with my CT5K. I’m doing it much slower than most I am sure 🐌
And usually only 2 runs a week. But I am doing it! Last time was in lockdown I ran. I piled on 4-5 stone over the 5 years after that.
☹️

I loved C25K programme so much that I stayed with the Running club I did it with once I finished in November and will be doing my first official timed 10km in four weeks. It’s a friendly club and don’t care about times for plodders like myself. Given I am 62 I am very careful with all the stretches before and after and am now the proud owner of three new pairs of trainers since Christmas - two for road (I did a lot of running through puddles ☔️) and one for trails. I now run 3 or 4 times a week.

so keep going - it doesn’t matter how long it takes you to complete C25K

Total lost in 2 weeks is 7lbs. I was a bit sad first thing as I've seen some people have huge losses to start. But I have the added complication of multiple health issues and daily steroids, so I'm happy with 7lbs. 3rd jab done tonight, feeling a bit rubbish but hopefully feel better in the morning.

alltablenochairs · 04/03/2026 23:34

Hello and welcome @Peachee. I've been on MJ since October 2024, have lost around 45kg (7 stone) since then but still have further to go. My BMI at the start was 45. It's now 30.1. I don't yet have an end goal. Too many years of slimming clubs!

alltablenochairs · 04/03/2026 23:45

So the 'kitchen roll' analogy is beginning to happen for me. Basically this is that you dont notice sheets coming off kitchen roll at the start of the roll but towards the end you begin to notice every single sheet.
I certainly notice my flaming trousers as they all seem to be going south. My all time fave pair of leggings especially but I am not ready to give up on those yet. However having been a size 16 for as long as I can remember (I was a 16 age 16), am I really ready to buy myself a pair of size 14 trousers? Are they actually going to fit???? In my mind I am still a size 20+. I've had issues with body image for as long as I can remember as well (sigh) so I think it'll be a hard thing to accept for me. I've had a lot of counselling and therapy for this but some wounds run too deep.
Does anyone else find it hard to accept or imagine themselves in their new body size?

I've been playing with the NHS BMI checker and I probably have another 15ish KG to lose before I end up with a BMI that will put me firmly in the 'healthy' range. Still not setting a firm end goal though.

SecondCircuit · 05/03/2026 07:50

Warm welcome @Peachee ! ♥️

@StatisticalStitches - that is a great loss, nothing to worry about. Just be consistent with food choices and patient. 😊

Congratulations, what an achievement. So far this on week 3 I have lost 9lbs which I’m pleased with. Started at 17st7 and now 16st12. I feel really pleased to have moved down a number on the scales if that makes sense. Thank you for warmly welcoming me to the group!

Your post resonates with me so much.
As a teen buying size 14-16 was humiliating but reaching size 24, I am not ecstatic to be back to size 16.
My body looks nothing like it did when I was size 16 first time but I think sizes may have changed or something messing with my brain and perceptions.
I am about 1 stone off my married weight. I wore size 18 dress at my wedding and wore a bikini on honeymoon.
My tummy is now so doughy I could never wear a bikini.

I try to celebrate the 40kg loss, I mean I started at 136kg.
People say to me, you are looking so well, how have you lost so much weight…
I feel shame at how much I have lost and yet still have so much to go to get to a ‘healthy BMi’.

Current I am 97kg. Getting under 100 was a huge target achieved. Getting under 90kg would be below my married weight and get me BMi under 30 overweight catagory. I remember being happy (ish) and healthy at 85kg but NHS says I need to be 74kg to be ‘healthy’.

I just not sure that further amount of weight loss is achievable for me and so I feel lost and a bit hopeless if I am honest.
Keep thinking maybe just keep
small targets and keep going but know I can not afford to keep this up financially.
I am
Fight urge to reduce calories loads and just try loosing at pace because I just know I will rebound.

GiveMeWordGames · 05/03/2026 09:25

Hello @Peachee ! Welcome. your starting weight is close to where I began (I was 17st 4, just under a year ago). I remember how excited I was that within a week I was seeing a number starting with a 16. Like @TheSlimmingPumpkin I'm now (almost!!) 6 stone down with a healthy BMI and basically at goal. You're off to a great start already - well done!!

@alltablenochairs I still find it really hard looking at pictures 14s on Vinted and telling myself they'll fit. It's going to take time, I know that.

I need to look for those plastic ring thingies people have mentioned. Nearly lost my engagement ring on a train last night as I was fiddling about with my case. I wear my wedding and engagement rings together and paid ££££ for both to be resized up just over a year ago, right before I decided to go on MJ. 🙄

MooBaggage · 05/03/2026 10:39

Hi and welcome @Peachee ! I'm just over a year in and am 3lbs off losing 7 stone with around 2 more stone to go - so in it for the long haul!

@StatisticalStitches I think that weight loss is brilliant - 1/2 stone in a fortnight! Really good stuff 😃 It's hard to shift thought patterns I think, from previous weight loss regimes like WW/SW where (to me) everything felt urgent and difficult - the Mounjaro is such a game changer and means you can lose and sustain weight loss in the longer term, so time and targets can be stretched out and almost aren't important. This is what I try to tell myself anyway...! I lost my last 1lb 6 days ago and am already getting impatient... 🙄😃

@Reginaphalangeeeee and @alltablenochairs you probably know from my pervious witterings that I struggle a lot with the 'mental' side of all this - both when I was big and now smaller. I was just looking at my HUGE wobbly tummy this morning, thinking how on earth does this fit in size 14 - 16 clothes now?! I've never been this small as an adult, but still feel huge. But when I catch sight of myself in the mirror I'm shocked - I definitely look different! Weirdly, when I was really big (size 26/28 in some tops), I felt smaller at times - in complete denial about it all. Bonkers as conkers...

Hopefully our minds will catch up with our bodies over the next year or two?

I had something similar @MooBaggage with my wobbly tummy this morning but gave my head a wobble instead saying it was a flipping huge tummy when I was six stone heavier!

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 05/03/2026 14:28

@Reginaphalangeeeee I have now, after 30 years, lost all of the baby weight, and I am a 10lbs off my wedding day. My wedding ring glides on and off now but my engagement ring is still a squeeze. I reckon another half stone to go to make that easier.

Yes yes yes. All that you said!
I am really struggling but it comes in waves.

Example, got new (size 14) trousers, got loads of compliments on his well I looked. I had a spring in my step.
Agreed to be in company picture on website thinking how confident I felt & maybe a picture of me would stop people being shocked when seeing me & weight loss.
Picture done, great.
Picture seen -ahhhhhh it's terrible & I am spiralling & back to hiding in a hole wondering why I ever agreed to such a thing. Tummy looks so big in my trousers (admittably not as big as before, but very noticeably ) and I have one big saggy mono chin joined to neck, no jaw line. Awful just awful I cried when saw it!

MoneyJo · 06/03/2026 07:26

Hello, I have just started with MJ and have a lot to lose. I've never told anyone my stats but I'd like to put them here.
My heaviest was this time last year when I was 20st2 / 128 kg. I lost almost 2 stone over summer but hit a plateau of about 18st7 / 117kg in the autumn. Since Christmas I've gained 3lb so I knew I needed to do something.
So start of MJ - 18st10 / 119kg
To be in the healthy BMI range I would hit 11st10 / 74kg but right now I would be happy to get to 15st / 95kg

So far I feel fine. I definitely don't want to eat anything this morning but then I often don't until about 11.30.

MooBaggage · 06/03/2026 07:30

I'm trying to decide whether to move up in dose from 10mg to 12.5mg - what are others on who have been at this a while?

I've been on 10mg since the end of September and have lost 24lbs in that time. My weight loss has definitely slowed right down in the last couple of months and I am more hungry with more food noise. I’ve eaten more recently and felt less in control - but am also v stressed at work, which has always been a trigger re: food.

I wanted to stick at 10mg, for financial rreasons and also so that I could taper down from this point and not any higher. But I'm worried I'm not going to make it to my goal weight and I still have about 22lb to go.

Am very stuck with my thinking! Should I grit my teeth and keep going on 10mg, or try going up to 12.5mg to see if it gives me a final boost for the next 6 months?

I also recognise I am extremely impatient and that losing 1lb every 10 days or so is actually OK, which is what's happening at the moment! 🙄🤷‍♀️

Hello @MoneyJo and welcome - and well done for putting your figures - I started at 20st 3lbs so am with you!

For anyone just starting on MJ, wiser people than me helped with top tips when I first started out and joined this group in Jan 2025. Here are some of them in case they're helpful:

Drink tons of water - min 2 litres a day - ideally at least 3!

High protein, low carbs will keep you full

Protein drinks can be helpful if you feel nauseous - can happen particularly at the beginning of being on MJ

Start weight training asap - buy some handweights and do a few mins regularly - whilst the kettle's boiling/tea is cooking, etc. Just a few minutes throughout the day will make a big difference to protecting muscles and changing your shape!

@RobinEllacotStrike recommends 2 x kiwis a day as the constipation battle is real! 😁 I've tried them and don't like them, so add a couple of teaspoons to a morning fruit smoothie and is has the same effect!

A few of us have bought the Eufy smart scales - not expensive via Amazon. You get great data on muscle and fat %, BMI etc so helpful to see other stats change.

I use the Shotsy app to track which side I've jabbed and how it's all going - the free version is great.

I think that's it but I'm bound to have forgotten something so hopefully others will fill in the gaps!

Good luck to anyone just starting out 🥰💪💪💪

@MooBaggage I don't know what the price jump is from 10 to 12.5 but if you're no longer feeling it on 10 and getting frustrated/feeling hungrier/eating more/losing more slowly than you hoped then it's perhaps a false economy to stay there? Everything you describe is where I've been when I've decided to move up a dose. You've done really well on 10 for a long time!

I'm sorry you're feeling disheartened @Reginaphalangeeeee . Corporate website pics are a law unto themselves. Even so I'd bet you look just fine, but that's not the point I know. This is a long journey for all of us both physically and emotionally.

Hello @MoneyJo . I think you must be the same height as me. 😀 Sounds like the MJ is starting to work already! @MooBaggage 's advice is excellent.

MooBaggage · 06/03/2026 07:49

Just realised I missed that I add a couple of teaspoons of milled flaxseed to smoothies - I make one most mornings - cupful of frozen fruit, lots of Greek yoghurt, milled flaxseed, 2 x dates, milk. Blend and drink 😊

Sorry for all the posts!

OP posts:
MooBaggage · 06/03/2026 07:52

Ahem. Last post - here's a picture of the pretty graph Shotsy gives you! There's also a bit to record where you've jabbed so you can switch sites each week. You think you're going to remember but after a couple of weeks I had no clue!

Thanks for the welcome and the really helpful tips @MooBaggage and @GiveMeWordGames - I'm 5ft 8, is that the same as you?

I am actually overthinking a bit now, probably. I want to eat something but I don't usually at this time. I'm worrying that it's not doing anything. I probably just need to relax and be patient!
