Has anyone NOT regained weight after stopping WLI?

I’ve just read the responses to another thread about what happens when you stop WLI. The majority or people say they’ve regained all weight lost. This is so depressing.

I’m at my target weight now, after losing 3 stone on 5mg, and am terrified of regaining when I stop. I’ve injected 2.5mg for the last 2 weeks and already feel my appetite increasing. I’m tracking calories (1500 - I’m 5ft 1), run 5k 3x a week and walk at least 10,000 steps a day so I’m doing what I should (I think?). Anyone not regained? And what have you done?

I can also chime in with a positive experience, -I lost about 60lbs on MJ and have been off the jabs I think around a year now. I do have to keep a close eye on my weight though as every now and again I put on a few lbs and have to take some action. But I've basically gone up and down by the same 6lbs ever since stopping which I'm happy with.

ItsStillWork · 27/01/2026 18:23

I stopped cold turkey from 15mg in June last year.

i haven’t regained any weight back, not one pound.

but i track everything on a calorie count tracker and weigh everything, no estimates!

TeenLifeMum · 27/01/2026 18:24

I stopped in May and I’ve put on 3lb then been stable. I’ve not been calorie counting or anything.

That said, my weight gain happened one very stressful year rather than bad eating habits over a lifetime, so now I’m back to normal eating I’m hopeful it’ll stay steady.

Karmakamelion · 27/01/2026 18:32

Has anyone tried slimpod. I'm really tempted to try and come off wli weeks before so the food noise never returns

That’s good to hear @CantBreathe90 - can you link to that thread? I’m tapering and am currently in 1.5
xx

Sure, it's

Not everyone is at goal yet, but those who are, and who are tapering, are doing well. It's a nice, supportive little group too x

I know I may be missing something but if you know what you are eating when you get to goal why not carry on the same diet when you have stopped the jab - because if you don’t you have wasted thousands of pounds

I have gained 7 pounds since I stopped in December but my hair is falling out so badly I can’t continue 😥

I don’t understand what you mean - why won’t the food noise return? Weeks before what?

You are missing something. The reason people are able to eat a consistently lower number of calories is BECAUSE they’re on the injections. The injections reduce that constant urge to eat (caused by dysfunctional hunger and satiety hormones.) So maintaining the same number of calories when you come off them is going to be extremely difficult, if not impossible. It’s like many other medications for chronic conditions - it works while you take it, it’s not a ‘cure’. That’s why it should be more freely available on the NHS.

Clefable · 27/01/2026 23:00

Me, came off in March at goal, lost another 10lbs in the three of so months following, which was too much for my preference, put back on 5lbs and have sat 5lbs under my original goal, give or take a couple of pounds either way in fluctuations, since. 5 stone down.

Op, with that amount of exercise and only eating 1500 calories, I honestly can’t see how you’d gain any weight!

I wonder whether these drugs reduce your metabolism or something?

I eat more and exercise less than you and keep my bmi at a healthy level, but I’ve never taken WLIs

I genuinely want advice, because I have put on a lot of weight despite eating well (no junk/sugar/alcohol and under 1500) and doing as much exercise as I can. I used to be very slim with just a mainly healthy diet, the odd blow-out at weekends and exercising a lot. Then I had health issues which meant I couldn't exercise as much, and my diet was hit and miss, but I'm back on track yet not losing weight. I can't really afford the drugs, and won't qualify for NHS, but if they would kick-start me back to health I would consider saving for them for a while.
Would appreciate advice, I feel like I've messed up my metabolism and would these help? Or do they only help people with food noise issues, because I do stick to the diet.

I've got a lot to lose, and I've been thinking about this; I've been on the starting dose of Wegovy for a couple of months and my appetite is already half of what it was...I can cope with the current side-effects but not if they get more noticeable with each higher dose.

I am wondering if it's possible to stay on the low dose and lose a little each week through doing Fast 800 or something similar...so the WLI are making weight loss possible, rather than me being entirely reliant on them to make it happen.

And that way, maybe, when it's time to come off them, I won't notice the lack of them so much, especially as I'll hopefully have got used to the new way of eating.

Does this sound reasonable or does it not work like that?

You can't do Fast800 for more than 12 weeks at a time, its nutritionally not enough. They don't recommend doing it for more than 12 weeks at a time.

I would stop the weight loss injections at least 2 weeks before starting slimpod system

Ive been on for three years in March and I did stop at one point and gained ten pound. I intend to stay on 15mg until the pill come out and switch to that for maintenance.

Sorry, what pill is this? Thanks.

Glitchymn1 · 28/01/2026 02:13

I’ve friends who have and friends who haven’t and continued to lose weight after- the ones who haven’t. They’ve said it takes willpower once they’ve stopped using jabs, I only know as they post their progress on fb.
Friend who gained weight said it stopped working, that she was jabbing and still hungry. Think she’s back on track now though.

I guess it takes willpower to continue eating less. What helps is building up your muscles as a higher muscle mass increases your body’s metabolism.

DeftGoldHedgehog · 28/01/2026 07:54

I know I'll have to watch myself and be careful when I stop, but that has been the case since I was about 14. I've always had to watch what I eat and exercise whether I was slim or whether I was overweight and trying to lose weight or not to be more overweight. It's just modern life, we are surrounded by food and constant temptations to try to make us fat and spend a load of money on food.

Is ‘food noise’ just a lack of will power? If you have it, were you an obese child or have you just learned to give in to cravings?

We all have to watch what we eat and it takes a lot of willpower to resist the temptation of easily available ultra processed fast food thats always available nowadays!

Google sums it up perfectly……

Food noise is not simply a lack of willpower, but rather a complex, often biological, issue rooted in brain chemistry, genetics, and hormones. It represents a persistent, involuntary, and intrusive mental chatter about food that drives eating behaviors beyond physical hunger, making it a medical or physiological issue rather than a moral failing.

CantBreathe90 · 28/01/2026 08:42

@Pistachiocake This is a really good, science backed podcast that explains it really well imo (you just have to ignore the adverts!). It's on Spotify but imagine other places too.

Also strength training. From what I understand, weight loss of any kind, but especially if it's rapid and / or a person doesn't get AT LEAST 50g protein per day, muscle is lost. It's the reduced muscle, that lowers metabolism (as muscle takes more calories to maintain when you're doing nothing).

Lowered metabolism can be fixed, it's just a case of understanding it, and understanding that just eating fewer and fewer calories, won't help medium or long term. But it's hard, because that's what most people have been told their whole lives! I think once a person understands the mechanics, improving metabolism isn't that hard. Definitely achievable with some work.

It might be worth you researching the term "reverse dieting" too x

Has anyone NOT regained weight after stopping WLI?

So people are actually hearing voices in their head “chattering” about food? This sounds really disturbing, more like a neurological disorder.
