Take a picture of your most recent pen. That's all you need to do. Then tell them what date you actually started to use it.
You can just make up a date which fits in with what you're asking to order.

Ok .
Have to see if I can get ABIT more money together.
It's very hard affording it as it is
I really hope your right and they release a higher dose for people who it slows down working for

MrTiddlesTheCat · 16/02/2026 17:43

Springflowers2 · 16/02/2026 17:41

Luckily we still have the golden dose ..I thought they were getting rid of that in pens ,so I've been able to bring a couple of doses closer together sometimes.
It does help a bit

They are getting rid of it. My current pen doesn't have it.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 16/02/2026 17:43

MrTiddlesTheCat · 16/02/2026 17:38

No, I'm still on 2.5 mg. I'm scared of going up. I'm scared of the price increases. It's very expensive here in Sweden and there's no option to shop around.

Well, you need to increase your dose to 5mg.

5mg is considered to be the first main dose anyway. Most people need to get on to it, although some seem to manage on 2.5mg.

You're feeling hungry. That's a clear sign that you need a higher dose.

Springflowers2 · 16/02/2026 17:46

I turned down weight . loss surgery with the NHS for paying for mg myself .
They weren't anywhere near giving me a date ..but my eyes are still bigger than my belly ..I'm a greedy person..weight .loss surgery might of stopped that

So what I do is order a pen every three and a half weeks, from different places. That way, I gradually build up a supply.

Therefore, it's a bit dearer, but not really too much, as long as you get discounts with each pen.

You're buying a new pen about 10 days before the last one runs out.

I'll talk to my dr. He's just prescribed 3 months of 2.5 mg. I don't know if it's different here in Sweden, but they want to keep you on the lowest dose they can for as long as possible.

I haven't seen a pen which doesn't have the extra in it yet.

They're just starting to come through in Sweden. My first pen had it. My second one didn't. I'll get my 3rd from a different pharmacy and see if I'm lucky

That's fair enough if you don't start to feel hungry!

But lots of people need the 5mg after one month.
I think your doctor should only have given you 2.5mg x 1 then assessed how you were doing.

It seems idiotic to prescribe 3 x 2.5mg pens in one go. You've definitely shown how foolish that is.

I thought about asking for weight loss surgery myself, but I'm glad I didn't.

There are so many possible complications.

I read somewhere else that the pens without the extra dose are appearing in several European countries now but not heard of it in the UK yet, hopefully we will have a bit longer.

It's not as bad as it sounds. Here in Sweden you split prescriptions. So I only collect and pay for one at a time. If I go up the unused ones will just drop off my 'available for collection' list.

Yes .I need to keep reminding myself why I turned it down .
Being vegan it would of been very difficult to eat enough protein after, and if read about issues with teeth because vitamins couldn't absorb through the stomach as there was less surface area to absorb through

eibbed999 · 16/02/2026 18:16

Glad you got a diagnosis @OvertiredandConfused - I had gallstones in my 20s (thanks to my patented Chips and Guinness diet I suspect!) and the pain was horrendous. I've had 3 babies since then, and childbirth didn't touch it! Great news that they're supportive of MJ as well x

eibbed999 · 16/02/2026 18:24

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne is right @Springflowers2 - do shop around, and that way you might be able to afford an extra pen. You're paying way over the odds there. I find most will allow you some leeway with ordering - there is a lot of competition out there.

@OvertiredandConfused glad you got a diagnosis and are able to get it removed, when will that be? Getting mine out ten years ago was the best thing ever, I felt amazing afterwards and have never had any trouble since.

Thank you @PearlTeapotand @eibbed999 .

I’m seeing the consultant next Monday and I assume I’ll have an idea pretty quickly after that. I’ve just got everything crossed that he will be as supportive of me continuing with Mounjaro as was indicated today.

Here's my current pen. At first it looks exactly the same as the old pen when it's been used 3x. But it's only been used 2x. If you look closely you'll see a thick black spacer behind the plunger. This meant the pen began in the dose 2 position. So they've removed the first dose and the former extra dose is now the 4th dose.

Can I ask you something about feeling hungry? You said that if I'm feeling hungry then I need to go up. I thought it was being unable to control the hunger that meant you need to go up. Have I misunderstood?

Are you able to control it?
I always found (especially at the beginning) that I barely had any appetite.
