@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOnecould you ask around your friends for a lift, in this situation I'd give a friend a lift without hesitation

I've had a scone, jam and cream today. It was amazing but I feel a bit sickly now.

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne

I’m EH29 postcode, can I be of any help with your appointment logistics?

That's so kind! But not practical at all.
I live in Argyll and have to get to Paisley.

It would take you six hours just to get to my house. But thank you so much for offering.

I have had two offers.
One woman can't drive in the dark so the 04.30 start is impossible.

The other one will only know if she can do it the day before. I might have to go with that, and cancel it if necessary.

DS says he'll feed the cats, but he keeps being taken to hospital himself at the moment.

@Billybingbong what a load of rubbish Slimming World was! Unlimited pasta, potatoes and rice!! No wonder we didn't loose weight on that carb heavy, spike your blood sugar, stuff. We should all get together and sue them and get some money back ha ha

Could you drive there, the in the dark bit and she drive back not in the dark? It might mean two nights away but it's important you go

Iwouldratherbesinging · 13/02/2026 16:56

A conundrum indeed @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne, I think cake was definitely deserved on this occasion, can you contact PALS at the hospital for advice? It sounds like this is an important operation that you shouldn’t miss. They may also be able to arrange for you to go in later than the specified time which means you can travel at a reasonable hour.
When hubby had his knee done the other week we had to travel to northwest Shropshire from Norfolk and had to be there for 7:30, but he didn’t get his op until 1pm so we sat around all morning only to be told we could have made a prior arrangement to arrive later due to distance (we traveled up the night before).

Absolutely, im surprised they are still going! We were laughing last night about the weekly 'rituals' we all had. Starve ourselves all day on weigh day, then call at the takeaway for a treat on the way home. Wear the lightest clothes, and strip down to the bare essentials in the weigh queue, even down to removing our jewellery. Eating our body weight in jacket potatoes & quark, then wondering why we hadn't lost anything. Getting all excited when a new flavour of Hi-Fi bar was introduced. And dont get me started on the taster evenings, and the rare concoctions people brought in. Oh what fun 😁

TragicMuse · 13/02/2026 18:55

Scan Bran. A ceiling tile repurposed as ‘food’.

Red days and green days and the emphasis on eat as much as you want of the free food. Pile up the pasta. All the potatoes. Have a whole tin of corned beef or an entire chicken. It’s FINE! Red day, green day. SCIENCE!

When I first did it the suggestion of vegetables was fairly distant. But god forbid you think about an avocado or a few peanuts.

SilenceInside · 13/02/2026 19:01

I am very glad that I never tried SW or WW as I have an aversion to group settings like that. It all sounds a bit bonkers! Although I did do the F plan diet as a teenager, essentially made to by my Mum, and that was a bit faddy too. Bran with everything. I still can’t look at All Bran to this day. I think that diet was the start of my complex relationship with food, and seeing anything tasty as “bad”.

HelpMebeok · 13/02/2026 20:08

I haven't been on here for awhile, but just wanted to say I've officially lost half the weight that I need to lose today. Down 5.5 stone with the same to go. It's taken almost a year, but I've done it. Wanted to give others hope as I have read such hopeful stories on here

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 13/02/2026 22:32

Well done @HelpMebeok!

I always enjoyed SW.
I liked the competitive element.
I loved eating whole chickens!
And my weight in potatoes.
Not on the same day though.

I hated WW. I could never understand what I was meant to do.

Apart from barely eat anything........

I think the basic SW plan is fine and sensible, but people manipulate it and try and find cheats and tweaks and that leads to the ridiculousness. Everyone focuses on the 'unlimited' carbs, forgetting that you're supposed to fill your plate with 1/3 veg first, and only eat until you are full. All these weird 'cakes' made with Weetabix etc were never supposed to be part of the plan but I guess people find it hard to accept that in order to be healthier they need to eat healthier. There was a woman in my group who would post pictures every day of her food and it was all packaged UPF snack foods - technically within her syns but no way was it healthy. And the group leaders never call people out on these things, either because they just want their money, or because they are also caught up in this craziness.

UsernameShmusername2024 · 14/02/2026 07:50

Yesterday was my 1 year mounjaversary...and I put on 2lbs 🙈 Had been a funny week before it with a work conference for a few days and then for some bizarre reason I decided to order a kebab one night- first takeaway like that since starting MJ, I didn't really enjoy it but it was like an itch had to be scratched.

So anyway, the 2lbs on wasn't a surprise and I'm happily focusing on the bigger picture from the last year - 121lbs off, hba1c levels now normal, gone from a size 28 to a 20 (and yesterday bought some size 18 jeans which are too tight now but I could tell the size 20s would soon be too big), no longer avoiding a walk with anyone because I can't bear to be huffing and puffing while trying to pretend I'm fine, no longer terrified of new places with unknown chairs, didn't spend any time whilst away at the conference thinking I'd break the hotel bed or chairs. Life is good!!

Am on 10mg at the moment which I've been on for a long time but I know it's time to move up - I don't want to be able to eat a kebab and chips! And I'm snacking on sweets and chocolates more and more. Have 2 more doses of 10mg and I'll then switch which suits me as we have half term and then my birthday coming up so will be out and about a lot so I don't want to risk either side effects or not being able to eat and drink along with others for those.

ConfusedMiddleAger83 · 14/02/2026 07:52

I never did SW but did WW over and over. I remember my work lunches consisting of popping out for a boots shapers meal deal - prawn mayo sandwich, tiny pack of crisps and a strawberry chocolate bar. Which obviously left me starving on my 16 points allll the time.

Crazy how the science has changed. I did actually lose 2,5 stone on it the first time which I thought was the hugest amount. Now my goal is around that start weight. Never had the same success the other 5-6 times 🙄.

Missingducks · 14/02/2026 08:03

I have finally reached 20stones on the scale - flipping heck that was a hurdle to jump ... Those 2or3lbs took 2 months on and off and on again and now off for good. So that's one massive goal ticked ... 127kg. Next goal ... 100kg.

I know I am flicking between kgs and stones but it's because the kg are less scary!

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne OK, you've had long enough to think it can't be done now let's come up with how to make it possible.

  1. Cats will be fine with one of your adult kids - they need to step up and help here, you help them, it's for something important and not something whimsical.
  2. You should go night before - means you know you can get there and don't have a pre-dawn start.
  3. Friend who has offered a lift doesn't need to take you, but can bring you back thank her very much that'll be very kind and much appreciated and let's go out for afternoon tea as a thank you. (I am 500 miles from Paisley hospital so not able to help on this occasion, trust you understand!).
RenegadeKeeblerElf · 14/02/2026 08:32

Does anyone use medicine marketplace? I've used zava for a while but medicine marketplace is a fair bit cheaper. Wary of ordering from someone different though and am put off by having to go through the whole uploading photos and proof of weight etc. which I don't have to do with zava - just tell them my current weight.

Or any other recommendations for cheaper suppliers? I don't have the energy to switch every month but could do it once now for one that's consistently one of the cheapest. TIA 😀

I recently cancelled my weightwatchers subscription. I've been a member for 25 years. I got my weight down to 10st something way back in the beginning. But have had no success ever since. I'm still using their recipe cards as the whole family like them. It means we all eat the same. But I'm not counting points of anything anymore.

My plan was to join when I come of monjroro or get near maintenance
Do they still go by points where you can choose what food you want to spend your points on ,or is it more like slimming world now ,which wouldn't work for me being vegan

Also, I've got an important hospital appointment coming up.
It's 100 miles away and I'll have to stay overnight the night before.
I'll also need someone with me because I'm having a GA.
So they'll have to stay overnight too.

And someone will have to drive me down and back. And who will look after my cats while I'm away?

FFS why did my stupid husband have to do this! The selfish POS knew this was coming up! But he still buggered off.

Men are flakey useless d*cks

so sorry to hear this struggle

at least you won’t ever have to wipe his ass

keep your head up and be proud of your journey in life

@UsernameShmusername2024 I use Medicine Marketplace and find them good. However, it is a lot of back and forth ordering so its best to get things in order. I don't know if the first order is different, but when I repeat order I have to :

  • fill in the online form, including reuploading a copy of my ID (I just keep a pic in a mounjaro folder on my PC now)
  • a few minutes after submitting I get two emails - one just confirming the order and the other asking for more info. You then get sent to a portal to fill in the additional info which asks you to upload a video of yourself, starting on your face then flipping the camera over to show your weight as you step onto scales.
  • Once thats submitted then they process - usually within 24 hours, maybe once or twice I've waited longer.

Once you get used to the process it's fine - I always order on a weigh in day so I just have to remember to film it in the morning and then it's available for the evening when i order.

It's a bit annoying doing it every month whereas Oushk just needed it every 6 months, but I do it for the prices!
