I hope it’s okay to start a new thread as we are getting dangerously close to the end of thread 1

My current stats are

MJ 2.5mg just taken dose three
planning on staying on 2.5mg for my next pen
SW: 13 stone 9.4lbs
Week 1: lost 11 lbs
Week 2: lost 3 lbs
Total weightloss: 1 stone (a small jack russel terrier)
GW: 9 stone 7

We have some newbies joining mid month so let’s cheer them on - we’ve got this ladies!

My dietician did say to increase my protein intake but didn't really say why or by how much. She just suggested adding cottage cheese to my diet.

2026istheyear2 · 05/02/2026 21:16

On last day of week 5. I stuck with 2.5 and it’s still working well. However I went for afternoon tea at a fancy London hotel yesterday - enjoyed a moderate amount and felt really satisfied but a few hours later the clotted cream I had on 3/4 of a scone must have kicked me off feeling very sick! Still felt it this morning but luckily it settled down. I hadn’t had anything really fatty/sugary since I started and clearly can’t handle it. Fine now I know to avoid but it was an intense reaction.

I am aiming for 120g protein but failing most days. I got some protein powder but hated the taste so will try one of those flavourless ones - thank you for the link.

Whatstfpoint · 05/02/2026 21:24

Anything I do/change is to mostly get into a different routine that will help me post WLI. I intend to remain on them long-term but I am terrified they will stop working eventually, so am trying to figure out my diet.

Topsyturvey10 · 05/02/2026 21:28

I’ve just taken my 5th dose of 2.5mg Mounjaro. The weight loss does seem quite slow and I'm hovering around just under 12stone. I need to lose just over a stone now, does this look like what I should expect? I didn’t really want to go up to 5mg, should I do a small increase
instead?

Does anyone have a Pharmulous code?

BooptotheFloof · 05/02/2026 21:41

It’s dose #6 today for me - I stayed on 2.5 MJ and I feel like I am doing really well - weightloss has slowed right down this week but I fit into more clothes in my wardrobe than I did last week!

SW 13 stone 9
CW 12 stone 3
TW 9 stone 7

So I still have 38 lbs to go but I have lost 20lbs in 35 days which I feel is pretty good

I am sticking to 800 calories a day but I am eating loads! Lots of veg, chicken, fish, eggs etc

Reading lots of people talking about protein and collagen - I haven’t taken any and I am nervous that maybe I should - is there any one else who isn’t taking supplements?

I’m afraid I haven’t tried any of the unflavoured ones, so can’t recommend any.

If you don’t mind some flavour, then I can recommend the MyProtein Clear Whey Protein powder. I have only tried the peach tea flavoured ones so far but I like it and they do lots of different flavours. Going for raspberry lemonade next time.

I have the raspberry lemonade and it's ok as far as protein powders go. I also brought the cherry one which wasn't as nice.

That’s great going with the weight loss!

I feel like I’m eating loads for the same number of calories too (I think eating high protein helps?) and I’m only eating protein in natural foods.

Did anyone watch the Joe Wicks documentary on protein bars? Google says that powders might also contain questionable ingredients - I haven’t looked into them in detail though as I’m trying to stick to non processed food.

I’m vegetarian so haven’t bothered with collagen as vegetarian supplements ‘stimulate’ collagen production rather than provide any!

Whatstfpoint · 05/02/2026 23:25

Im Just looking at a flavourless protein powder and it has flavouring and sweeteners listed as ingredients. 😖

Whatstfpoint · 05/02/2026 23:28

Every time I pick up a protein bar in a shop to try i put it back as it doesn't weigh enough to justify the £2.50 or whatever the price is.

Newstartplease24 · 06/02/2026 06:43

Scales went up by 0.2kg this morning - eep. Today is the day I’ll take dose 3 and it’s interesting that the actual drug causes weight loss, doesnt it - it’s not just that it helps you to eat less.
I’ve been eating clean and light and feeling good - not starved but light and active. I’m enjoying not obsessing over food, at the back end of the week when the side effects had worn off. If only I could eat moderately, stay active and just be slim.

oh well. Here we are. I’ve got a plan and I’m going to keep going.

Newstartplease24 · 06/02/2026 06:49

Putting mini goals here for inspiration:
90k - will no longer be obese
85kg - hiring a kayak (I wrote on the other thread about an embarrassing phone call I made to ask about how strict the weight limit are “for my husband” who does not exist)

I only have protein bars in the house as my partner uses them, you can usually buy in bulk or get good deals on amazon
Some ready made protein drinks have 25g of protein in them
Plus if you are having a protein bar, protein mousse or yoghurt, that's easily 40g of protein there without taking in to account meat for a main meal
I wasn't as bothered by protein when I was on mj last year, I used it here and there and I lost muscle. My hair fell out at a rapid pace so I am just recommending what I would do

YouBelongWithMe · 06/02/2026 06:56

I've been crap at keeping up - work is insane - but am still plodding away. Yesterday was dose 4 for me.

Last week I lost 1.7lb, bringing my total to 10.4lb overall in three weeks.

Next week I'll go up a dose, and hoping to feel the suppression more.

I'm not. I think I'd rather make changes to my diet instead.

Onbdy · 06/02/2026 07:22

Feeling a bit fed up this morning after my 5th weigh in. The first 4 weeks went well and I lost 14 pounds but this morning I’ve only lost half a pound. I regret sticking on 2.5 now. 😢
I’m back to the situation I was in before Christmas where I would follow my diet religiously and have disappointing weight loss. This is the reason I decided to take MJ in the first place. I haven’t eaten anything extra, I still have 4.5 stones to lose so not as if I’m close to my goal weight. I’m in my 50s so no hormones coming into effect either.
up until last year I was able to lose weight easily but since then I’ve really struggled.
Can I double up on my 2.5 pen while I order a 5 and wait for it to arrive?

blackandwhitefluffycat · 06/02/2026 07:24

Week 5 weigh in: 0lbs! I started the progesterone patch a week ago and knew it was coming after a mid week weigh in - the same happened last month.

My stats:
5’6”
SW: 14.5
CW: 12.12
Total weight loss: 1 stone 7 ls (21lbs)
GW: 10 st (for now!)

For anyone doubting the role of hormones in women (and I’ve seen one on another thread) my calories for the week were: 908, 840, 820, 920, 800, 990, 890. With two exercise sessions a day! And for those on other threads talking about ‘competitive undereating’: some of us really can’t eat more, once we hit a certain age or our hormones change for another reason!

First 5mg jab done, I’m really hope it can counteract the HRT a bit more, or I might need to stop it once I come off MJ. Also hoping for no side effects!

blackandwhitefluffycat · 06/02/2026 07:26

I see I’m not the only one in a similar boat this morning: we just need to plod on and hopefully the results will show in a week or two! It’s so disheartening though.

YellowStockings · 06/02/2026 07:43

@BooptotheFloof I’m not taking any protein supplements either - so many of them (bars or powders) seem so ultra processed, and I’m trying to generally avoid that. I also eat lots of beans / tofu / lentils / peas / quinoa vegetarian) and I’ve been buying protein-rich kefir and yoghurt for breakfast, and adding a few nuts / seeds where I can.

I’m still on a low dose of 0.25 so I’m able to eat 3 small meals a day plus a snack, so I feel happy that I’m getting decent nutrition. But if my hair starts falling out I’ll be the first person to stock up on protein powder!

notcomfortable · 06/02/2026 08:10

That's another kg off this morning 😊 feel really happy with that
I go to New York in 6 days!!!! So I am not feeling as puffy now 😅

Edited

It helps to know I’m not alone. 😊 I’ve calmed down a bit now and I’m just going to stick with it and order the 5mg pen to start next week. It’s frustrating because I used to be able to lose weight easily and quickly as long as I stuck to a diet and exercise.

CatNoBag · 06/02/2026 08:38

I'm shooting for 100g of protein a day, most days I manage ~80g, I did get to nearly 120g one day last week. Apart from a scoop of collagen in my morning coffee (I've been taking this for a while as my nails started crumbling), it's all from food. Greek yogurt, ground seeds, nuts for breakfast; eggs, cottage cheese and legumes for lunch and either meat, fish, tofu, beans or lentils for dinner. I have less or no carbs for dinner and throw in a handful of edamame or peas to fill the gap on my plate.

goldylock · 06/02/2026 08:48

@CatNoBag

Ive always had soft nails and would nail bite. I used to get gels on for 10+ years. I was in and out of some smaller and bigger surgeries so couldn't keep the gel on.

The gel, I suppose from having on so long, and having weak nails anyways, destroyed my nail beds, massive grooves and dips.

I started taking magnesium about a year ago, and my nails are just about back to normal now and very strong (I don't apply any hardener or anything). Good, strong nails. Benefit also to hair. Shoots down.

Am a supplement lady, and would consider magnesium (and Vit D) the best ones. Oh, and Clarins hand/nail cream. Am not a big fan of the smell, but it's the best.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 06/02/2026 09:04

My dietician said not to get too hung up on a gain so long as I'm doing everything right. Fluctuations of weight are normal, especially after a few weeks of good losses. It's the trend that matters. She says to only worry after 3 weeks of gain/no loss.

2026istheyear2 · 06/02/2026 09:14

Wk 5 weigh in and 3.8 lbs off - just snuck into the 14s! 23.3 pounds in total so staying on 2.5 again. Focus this week is more protein.

SW: 16 st 9 (5ft 7)
CW: 14st 13.6 lbs
GW: 12 stone
