I hope it’s okay to start a new thread as we are getting dangerously close to the end of thread 1

My current stats are

MJ 2.5mg just taken dose three
planning on staying on 2.5mg for my next pen
SW: 13 stone 9.4lbs
Week 1: lost 11 lbs
Week 2: lost 3 lbs
Total weightloss: 1 stone (a small jack russel terrier)
GW: 9 stone 7

We have some newbies joining mid month so let’s cheer them on - we’ve got this ladies!

Genuinely curious now.

So on WG what do you do to prime your first needle that you don't need to do later?

On MJ you insert the needle, turn the pen 2 clicks then depress the plunger until you see a drop of liquid on the needle. You do this for each new needle.

This is what I understood priming to be - making sure all the air is out before you inject. As a PP said, this would apply to any needle not just a WLI pen.

Does the liquid in a WG pen come out of the needle by itself when you put a new one on, is it under pressure or something?

Not trying to be goady, I'm curious about the difference!

Whatstfpoint · 05/02/2026 15:11

Probably it has to do with the pen and some kind of mechanism when you screw on the needle? There is no such thing as a wegovy needle. My pharmacy sends me extra very generic needles. Pretty sure there would be some warning to only use xyz needles if that had to do with anything.

HollywoodTease · 05/02/2026 15:40

Curiouser and curiouser! I have always assumed that the actual process for both would be pretty similar and it's just the content that would vary.

Thanks for enlightening me that they are very different in application as well! 🙂

So after my first 5mg injection yesterday I do feel slightly different but it's subtle. I was half expecting to feel dreadful but I just feel a bit bloated and gassy (!!) And a bit more "off" my food. Not sure if the effects will continue to increase...? Anyway it's very manageable at the moment thankfully so I am glad I went up.

What’s the batch number on that pen ?

strange as my friend picked up a new one yesterday and had the extra

they are planning to phase it out this year so looks like it’s started

Edited

I'm not sure which number is the batch number. On the bottom it says:

Can someone tell me about protein powder? Is there any that tastes of nothing or perhaps even great ? (Prefer the former).

I bought Jason's protein bread and its not for me. It has a v slight strange smell. Im sensitive so these things matter a lot to me.

I have some capsules with collagen/protein but want to make meals that are more rich in protein too.

Update from me

SW: 17st 8lbs
CW: 16st 5lbs
GW: 12st

So that's a total of 17lbs in 4 weeks.

During the first week I had very strong suppression and could barley eat anything. I also got full really quickly. While now I can eat more if I want to but the food noise is still gone. The side effects are negligible so I'm staying on 2.5mg.

I also took my golden dose. It was really easy.

Well that is just phenomenal. Congratulations!

Got my first one on Friday and been a bit nervous so thank you for the reassurance. I’ve had no real side effects on 2.5 but have this fear that it’ll all go to pot when I move up.

I'm three weeks on 5mg and not had any side effects no suppression either tho

Well that’s good news re the side effects, butI am in dire need of some suppression! Last day of my last 2.5 and I’m over here inhaling my dinner like I’ve never taken a jab. Baked potato, butter, whole pack of sliced chicken breast, whole tub of mushrooms sautéed. Gone in about five minutes 😭

TheBrickCritic · 05/02/2026 18:50

So here are mine (I am 5ft 1)
SW. 11 st 9
Week 1. 11st 3
Week 2. 10 st 9
Week 3. 10 st 9
Week 4. 10 st 6

I took my 5th one today it was 2 days early but I wanted to see if the pen would work and it did. It had twisted easily and plunged down with no issue.

anyonether · 05/02/2026 19:31

I’m on week 3 day 3 of MJ 2.5mg. Generally been feeling good and lost 5kg. But the period 36-72 hours post jab is awful. Strong sulfur burps, nausea, diarrhoea and vomiting. I only wanted to lose weight slowly and im wondering if it is too much for me. I have ordered 2.5 again for next month but im wondering about counting the clicks and doing 2mg or something that feels more manageable. Mondays like today barely able to eat 500 cals probably and i dont want to be this affected. Any advice? The other days i feel good and energised and can eat fairly normally albeit small portions

Lots of unflavoured versions here

If you like sweet things, you can get maltesers protein powder, kinder beuno flavoured powder
I just use ready made ones

Thank you. Have you tried any? I.e. do they really taste of nothing.

Afraid not! I use the vegan vanilla one in greek yoghurt every day and it’s really good, but can’t speak for the flavourless ones!

I’m afraid I haven’t tried any of the unflavoured ones, so can’t recommend any.

If you don’t mind some flavour, then I can recommend the MyProtein Clear Whey Protein powder. I have only tried the peach tea flavoured ones so far but I like it and they do lots of different flavours. Going for raspberry lemonade next time.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 05/02/2026 20:43

Can I ask why people are using protein powder? How much protein are you aiming for?

MrTiddlesTheCat · 05/02/2026 20:47

I'm day 2 of my fifth 2.5 mg dose and I'm feeling rather ill after my dinner. I feel over full and like I'm going to be sick because of it. Like when my ED is in full force and I binge eat. Except I only had a correct sized portion of dinner. I haven't really had any side effects unril now.

Whatstfpoint · 05/02/2026 20:48

MrTiddlesTheCat · 05/02/2026 20:43

I don't have a target as such. Protein helps fullness so I just want to experiment a bit.

goldylock · 05/02/2026 20:49

Day 1, Week 2, 5 mg

I'm off the progesterone now. And injected into my thigh this evening instead of the usual stomach.

OUCH!

I usually get full on supression Sat/Sun/Mon. Diet is fine. Exercise is good. I've played about 6 hours of tennis since Sunday. Clothes feel good. The scales not moving. Let's see if the shake up does anything.

I aim for 100g - sometimes I only hit 60, sometimes 120. I use a scoop of protein powder in my breakfast most days which gives me 38g. I don’t eat meat or fish often so it helps give me a boost.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 05/02/2026 20:43

I think its like 1.5 gram per kg of body weight a day to prevent muscle loss
Protein also keeps you fuller

FrothyCothy · 05/02/2026 21:03

Protein takes more energy to digest than carbs and fat, so boosts the thermic effect of food.
