January 2026 Starters - dog-gone weightloss

I hope it’s okay to start a new thread as we are getting dangerously close to the end of thread 1

My current stats are

MJ 2.5mg just taken dose three
planning on staying on 2.5mg for my next pen
SW: 13 stone 9.4lbs
Week 1: lost 11 lbs
Week 2: lost 3 lbs
Total weightloss: 1 stone (a small jack russel terrier)
GW: 9 stone 7

We have some newbies joining mid month so let’s cheer them on - we’ve got this ladies!

I think am going to come off progesterone 200 mg for a couple weeks (I don't use oestrogel).

As an experiment. See does the scale move.

I had a couple big surgeries and was sent to a dietician post-op. I was swearing blind to the dietician that I was following the plan. And I was. I felt it was hormonal.

Altho still quite young, I was then started on hrt, estogel and progesterone. The oestrogel (rub on) drove me mad. The comb patch, I'd an allergic reaction to the glue on the patch...i wouldnt let them insert an iud.

Within a week, I lost a whole stone. Dietician was amazed. But as said, the estrogen drove me nuts and very bad breast pain.

So, I stayed on progesterone 200 mg, continually.

I feel at certain times of the month am going to get a period, but I never do.

Am going to come off the pg for a few weeks now and see.

I have to get a small surgery down there in about a month/in March and will see the gynae surgeon then. And I'll be able to report to her my findings.

But there is no point in paying e300+ I think to have no results and battling hormones. It's very cruel (for all ye younger ones reading!).

Hormones 100% have a massive impact.

Everyone reacts differently to HRT - I’m guessing depending on their natural hormone levels - but I’ve read more than a few times about people experimenting and coming off HRT for a while, losing weight without doing a thing and then putting it back on when they restart.

I’ve no idea how I’ll know when I’ve reached menopause while I’m on it, but if the same happens when I come off MJ then I’ll be tempted to stop it for a while and see if I’d be through the awful symptoms that made me go on it in the first place.

Oh no! As in a full black stopper? And the 4 doses with no extra? My next one is also med express 5mg but not looked closely at it yet, will do tomorrow.

They definitely do! I was only on the lowest dose HRT patches and I gained weight rapidly. I mentioned this to the nurse at my check up and she advised me to stop taking it to see what happens. I lost 12 pounds in a week! I wasn’t doing anything else differently. I won’t go on it again after that.

I've just posted this on the main group, but fir traction, and because you guys have been so helpful, please help!

As far as I know, wegovy doesn't have a golden dose, and yet ive managed to extract 1ml from tye end of my first pen. Ive taken 4 x 0.25mg of wegovy over the last 4 weeks, but tonight, when I was planning on going up to 0.5mg, I thought it looked like there was still liquid in the pen, and lo and behold, there was 1ml out of a 1.5ml pen.
So now im wondering what to do. Have I not given myself the dose a few times when I thought I had? In which case, will.my body be ready to introduce a higher dose? Should I split it so that it's a 0.33mg dose for this week and next before starting on 0.5mg after that?
I think id be happy enough on that dose as have been losing fairly steadily and not feeling too bad over the last 4 weeks.
Whats gone wrong and what do I do now?

@bec81 I had some extra liquid left too but did nothing with it. Not sure it would have been a full 0.25 extra dose. Im sure I gave myself four full doses, so this was extra. I don't understand how it couldn't have extra liquid as all pens need priming before first use?

Edit to say I have no idea how much the extra was. More than a few drops but im terrible in estimating quantities so no idea if 0.2ml or 1.

Wow!

It’s so frustrating how the NHS official line is that it doesn’t have an impact…the patches I’m on have weight gain listed as a side effect on non NHS sites!

I think the MJ is helping to counteract it, but I don’t want to be on it long term.

@bec81 There’s usually going to be some left at the end but it’s not designed as an extra dose. They just put extra in the pen to cover the test squirt you do before jabbing. So depending on how much you squirt each time you’ll get a different amount left - it might be under your normal dose, it might be over - but it doesn’t mean you underdosed before if that makes sense.

But i extracted 2/3 of the pens contents when it should have been empty. The only explanation I can see is that I haven't been injecting right.

You may have done, but I think it’s more likely just the extra they put in to cover the test squirt. There’s always going to be some left over.

If you really think you made a mistake read the instructions and see if what it says is what you did or not.

I looked at my first 0.25 pen and the extra liquid is definitely not another full dose. And that's without a proper test squirt as it was only a few drops (its only done before the first jab of a new pen, not for the three subsequent ones).

Did you forget to inject one week or so?

What’s the batch number on that pen ?

strange as my friend picked up a new one yesterday and had the extra

they are planning to phase it out this year so looks like it’s started

Isn’t 0.25mg the amount of medicine in each dose, not the size of the dose?

for example - I was on 2.5mg mounjaro but the actually amount I injected each week was 0.6ml which contained 2.5 mg of mounjaro. When I extracted my golden dose there was 0.7ml of solution so that would have contained approx 3mg of mounjaro.

I think when I move up to the 5mg pen - I am still injecting 0.6ml but it contains double the amount of mj at 5mg in that single dose. Does that make sense?

Yes, otherwise it would be stated in ml rather than mg.

Yes, I extracted 1ml from a 1.5ml pen (volume) of a 0.25mg dose. So, by taking half of the 1ml I extracted (0.5ml), I injected 0.33mg - I.e. 4 x 0.25mg (or 1 mg) per 1.5ml, so 0.66mg per 1ml, so 0.33mg per 0.5ml, which I took, I hope

Update from me

SW: 17st 8lbs
CW: 16st 5lbs
GW: 12st

So that's a total of 17lbs in 4 weeks.

During the first week I had very strong suppression and could barley eat anything. I also got full really quickly. While now I can eat more if I want to but the food noise is still gone. The side effects are negligible so I'm staying on 2.5mg.

I also took my golden dose. It was really easy.

Does it say that in your instructions?

My understanding is that the test squirt is to remove air when you attach the needle, so it needs doing every time you use a needle......

Maybe edit or remove because what you say is incorrect for wegovy. Its different from mounjaro, where you prime every time. With wegovy you only prime before the first injection of a new pen.

Really? Well I didn’t know that. I thought all needles needed priming to avoid risk of injecting air, whether it’s Mounjaro, Wegovy, the flu jab, heroin….

Ignore this, too late to edit but apparently you don’t prime wegovy needles. Learn something every day.

WG here - you don't prime the needle (or at least not in the same way as MJ by the sounds of it). Once you screw in the needle a small droplet needs to appear, that's all that needs to happen. You don't use / waste any liquid.
