Have a great time away @Thelittlestranger .

I get it re eating less, I ate out last night, I stuck to a main course only and had smoked haddock, samphire, poached egg and really unusual heritage potatoes. It wasn't a huge portion, relatively healthy .... but I am still feeling full this morning.

Jab day today, I am hoping that it is the third jab away from my last one, fingers crossed.

HeidiLite · 17/01/2026 08:14

enjoy the slopes, @Thelittlestranger

yes our stomachs have definitely shrunk, I also often can't finish meals and feel totally stuffed til the next day after a reasonable dinner. Something I still need to work on, eating more slowly and stopping before full. But clean the plate rule from childhood is difficult to overcome.

My pleasure @Polkadotdash. I love my fleecy nighty so much that I’ve got another in my Amazon basket ready for ‘payday’. Such a cheap treat. I genuinely look forward to getting ready for bed now.

Jab day today and it can’t come soon enough. I’ve been pretty hungry this week but it doesn’t seem to have translated to eating more. In fact I couldn’t finish my meal last night and it was only soup and sandwich.

DH is off to meet up with friends to walk up some chilly hills in Yorkshire so it’s a quiet weekend for DS2 and I. My only commitment is to drop off a Vinted parcel.

Zempy · 17/01/2026 08:35

WARNING: Do not proceed if you don’t want to read all about my traumatic poos.

So, got stuck on the loo for an hour this morning. I thought I was going to be sick, the pain was dreadful. I imagined being stuck there for ever, or the shame of having a heart attack doing a poo. I realised last night that I hadn’t been for a couple of days so I took one senna tablet. Anyway, I’m now googling how to unblock my toilet. 😞

I think the change of routine is to blame maybe? My steps were massively up this week from walking around London, and I drink water all day in court. It’s a very unpleasant mystery. I feel better for sharing it with you though. 😆

I feel rather fragile now so I’m going to take it really easy this weekend and be gentle with myself. I hope everyone has a good one.

Jins · 17/01/2026 09:01

Huge sympathy @Zempy. Today’s unpleasantness pales in comparison to yours.

I meant to tell you all that I have a new hero. DH and I were walking back to our car when suddenly two balaclaved youths laid into a lad walking home from school. No warning, just knocked him to the ground and kicked him. Before DH could reach them an elderly woman (I’d guess mid 70s) started bashing the worst aggressor round the head with her handbag which stopped them in their tracks. She got called all sorts by them but I called her a hero. The victim was ok thankfully but clearly very upset.

PrepossessingPenelope · 17/01/2026 09:13

Poor you @Zempy . That's one thing I am hoping returrns to normal when I stop MJ.

Goodness @Jins , horrible to witness and what a brave woman.

Jins · 17/01/2026 09:35

It was awful @PrepossessingPenelope. It came out of nowhere and was so violent. DH was racing over and I don’t mind a ruck so I was on my way but she’d sorted it before we got there. Even though my DSs are adults now I was taken straight back to the days when my biggest fear for them was bullying.

Zempy · 17/01/2026 09:41

Oh that’s awful @Jins. I bet you wish you had videoed it though so the Mystery woman could be hailed as the hero she is!

Try not to dwell on it. Imagine the poor lad who was attacked having a good laugh with his friends explaining how he was rescued if that helps?

PrepossessingPenelope · 17/01/2026 09:49

What a woman and thank god they backed off @Jins, you can read horrible things about the consequences of trying to help people can't you.

I've been shopping this morning, Boden and Cos. I usually buy the organic cotton t shirts from Cos but have waited because they are £30, I must have been buying them for almost a decade, they last forever and look good. I've bagged five for £100 this morning - size Small .....latterly size XL!

Also two fitted dresses for work in the Boden as they had long fitting in stock.

Two variations of this. I really love this check in particular but I'm really fussy about pattern matching, I always used to match precisely when I made clothes, so whether they stay will depend on what the seams look like.

Eda Check Shift Dress-Red, Blue and Green Check

Trust us, you absolutely can’t go wrong with this tartan shift dress. The rounded collar and chunky buttons look effortlessly stylish, and the short length pairs well with flats or knee-high boots.

cloudjumper · 17/01/2026 09:49

I’ve been there @Zempy, you have my sympathies. It is such a relief once it’s gone, it it does leave you feeling all shaky.
I have to admit that I take senna once a week, for that exact reason.

Whats everyone up this weekend? I’ve got a quiet day today with the kids, the aim is to tidy and get the Ocado order done, before we head out for DD’s karate grading exam in the afternoon. The main objective is to watch this week’s Traitors episodes!
DH is back from his ski trip tonight, thank fck. I really don’t like single parenting, and DS has been a total sht this week in particular (one word: teenagers 🙄).
Tomorrow i finally get to pick up my new glasses, can’t wait. I really struggle with my current ones now, it got very bad very quickly. So much that I’m hesitant to drive now…

Has anyone watched Stranger Things? We finally took the plunge, and two episodes in I’m not sure it’s for me - I like the characters and storylines so far, but it’s really spooky/scary, which I’m not good with 😳 Is it worth persevering?

PrepossessingPenelope · 17/01/2026 09:57

@cloudjumper both DC watched Stranger Things but I didn't like it much. I don't like scary things either, I am not sure it is that scary in the grand scheme of things but I lost interest very quickly.

I hope you have a break when your DH gets back. I must get my eyes tested/new specs too.

No big plans here this weekend, I've had a tiring week at work so need a break.

I will go to Pilates at some point, probably tomorrow. I need to catch up on some CPD as one of my institutes has a 31/3 deadline for achieving a target.

I'm home alone tonight and I would like to cook something nice for myself so need to find some inspiration and I might give the new Agatha Christie thing on Netfix a go if it is live.

DS is due home from Uni any minute now because he has a party to go to tonight, it will be lovely to see him.

Polkadotdash · 17/01/2026 09:59

@Zempy that sounds awful, you poor thing. Fighting for your life in there.

@Jins I am completely heartened to hear that the little old lady with the killer handbag still exists. The quiet ninja, underestimated and therefore deadly. I used to always think that the late Queen could have probably delivered a knockout blow with her handbag if anyone ever tried to attack her.

@cloudjumper Ive not watched any Stranger Things but my daughter binge watched the entire series over Christmas so that she could get up to speed before the finale on New Year’s Day. Bonkers if you ask me.

DGmaintaining · 17/01/2026 10:03

Thank goodness everyone was ok in the end @Jins and well done that woman! May we all have that confidence to bash a bully in our 70s.

@Zempy my sympathies, that does sound traumatic. 💐

@PrepossessingPenelope exciting that you’re so close to goal now! Have you decided to go cold turkey or titrate down?

@HeidiLite I do wonder about the whole ‘stomach shrinking’ thing. I’m still on MJ so I’m assuming there’s an element of the glp that’s keeping my appetite suppressed once the food hits my stomach. But also, it’s been 12 months of eating a lot less, so there must have been some adjustment!

Weigh in today has me back under 59kg. So on track for jabbing 2mg tomorrow. I think there’s a little more food noise at this dose, but then if I’m super busy with work I’m still not eating more. Yesterday I worked at my laptop in the kitchen non-stop from 9am till 7pm, and only had one amaretti biscuit leftover from the Christmas treat pile. I’ve definitely snacked more on a higher dose so I think it’s all still manageable for now.
I’m only 2 weeks into the lower dose, aware that it takes 4 weeks to fully reflect the change. I suppose if the second half of this month is too tricky I could always try alternating the doses from 2.5 to 2. Or trying 2.25.

DH is coming to the end of week 3 and has lost another kg this week. He has been declining our usual Greek yog and berries dessert with me. We eat the same size portions for lunch and dinner. I think he’s been having a smaller breakfast than me. So I’m officially on more calories than my 5’11” partner!

PrepossessingPenelope · 17/01/2026 10:09

@DGmaintaining I am planning on going cold turkey, mostly because of the effect on my enthusiasm for life, but also the endless constipation. I am sure that I have confessed to buying a box of surgical gloves and having to ..... well I will leave the rest to you all, at times. Movicol, dates, fruit, nothing seems to work, even flaxseeds just give me stomach ache and farts (sorry) most of the time.

I knew I would be stuffed last night but I literally ate a normal sized (maybe 4oz) piece of fish, heaped tablespoon of samphire, poached egg and the equivalent of half a dozen baby new potatoes. I could have easily left half of the potatoes and I did put my knife and fork down at one point, but then thought stuff it (or me to be precise), no starter or dessert.

ETA - well done to your DH!

Aimingforearlierbedtimes · 17/01/2026 10:46

@Zempy that sounds horrible. Glad it's gone for now at least.
@Jins that also sounds horrible. Good on the brave lady.
@HeidiLite the plate-cleaning rule is ingrained and so hard to break. I try to remind myself that eating something I don't really want /need is no less wasting it as throwing it away would be.

Zempy · 17/01/2026 11:19

Thanks for the support lads.

@PrepossessingPenelope I agree re COS t shirts and I love the tartan Boden dress.

I have been wearing a similar tartan kilt with black polo neck this winter and it’s a favourite outfit. In my head I look like Claudia 🤣

HeidiLite · 17/01/2026 12:21

@Jins OMG how traumatic! Was the lady something like this? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Woman_with_the_Handbag#:~:text=The%20Woman%20with%20the%20Handbag%20(Swedish%3A%20Kvinnan%20med%20handv%C3%A4skan%3B,Neo%2DNazi%20with%20a%20handbag.

@cloudjumper DH is a fan, I tried but didn't really get into it. Am watching Pitt at the moment, which is indeed very good.

For weekend, today I have to...I mean am delighted to go and watch DD's basketball match (at that age, the skill level is..well, developing) and tomorrow morning DS is playing. His team moved up a league and that level is not good for my blood pressure, they won last weeks by one point literally in the last few seconds. Stressful!
Antiques museum tomorrow, they have an interactive Greek mythology inspired show, looks fun.
A few gym sessions of course as well

Jins · 17/01/2026 13:09

Very similar stance @HeidiLite. I want to be like her when I grow up

tinyemmy · 17/01/2026 13:31

Happy weekend! Sorry to hear about the trauma @Zempyand inspired by handbag lady @Jins

I'm really loving my strength sessions and feeling so strong at the moment but the scales do not agree with me sadly and keep going in the wrong direction! I haven't been binge eating which is a huge positive but definitely too many treats have crept in. According to Dose diary I have 0.12mg of mj left and by 2nd Feb there will be nothing. It will be 4 weeks on Monday since I last jabbed. I'm definitely interested to see if I can lose weight on my own so not rushing to jab yet (although as of this morning December's 6lb gain is now up at 7). I got a lot of PBs in the gym last night so I'm hopeful it is retained water as I've started to track my calories as I really want to know what I should be eating to lose and maintain. I've been averaging around 15-1600 so I will be very sad if this is maintenance, I'd hoped I'd get 1750.

I'm also in the clean plate brigade. When I first started mj I left food on my plate which I was amazed about but I haven't been doing that since I've been maintaining (last 7 months). I'm a little worried I need the mj for the inflammation / other benefits which might explain why despite mostly eating what I did when losing I'm not as I don't have the GLP-1/GIP making sure my body is working at its best.

BlueLimes · 17/01/2026 13:59

Have a restful day @Zempy @Jins how awful but I love the intervention.
@PrepossessingPenelope great shopping
@cloudjumper i totally lost it (well raised my voice) with DD due to her room plus she keeps taking my expensive skin care. I am a neat person though so must be hard to keep to my standards. Solidarity with the teen years - Jab friend.
Ive watched stranger things- it’s a bit much for me but I did enjoy it .

I want to be Claudia too @Zempy i googled yesterdays jumper but it’s sold out.

it’s my 1 year week - but I might move my stats to next week, I’m still 3lbs up.

26inprogress · 17/01/2026 14:17

You lot have been chatty this morning! Oh god that sounds horrific @Zempy, I’ve had a couple of bouts of constipation but nothing like that. We had a blocked loo issue a couple of months ago though and DH had to get rods 😳.
@PrepossessingPenelopei don’t remember you talking about gloves, poor you, it does sound like MJ is really impacting you. Well done on the shopping, that’s fab! Would you mind linking the T-shirts for me? I’ve had cos ones before and loved them but not sure which ones you mean and keen for recommendations.

OMG @Jinshow scary for everyone and well done that woman! My nana was definitely in the handbag whacking brigade. Was always in awe!

Sounds like you’re doing really well @tinyemmy, I think you’re right, probably your body adjusting to all the strength exercises. I’m in a similar boat, I’ve just finished week 5 of c25k ( a 20 minute run this am omg), done 2 reformer Pilate sessions and a home weights session this week and the scales haven’t moved, despite having some Christmas weight still. I’ve decided I’m trusting the process and will carry on! I bought a 10mg pen and I’m really not sure that increasing my dose is the right thing. I’m well within my weight range, I did want to lose a few more but when I think of it I really don’t need to, my focus is on strengthening and getting fitter so I’m not sure what to do. I really haven’t had much success with syringes so don’t know how I’d do extracting a lower dose 🤔

we watched the earlier seasons of Stranger Things and it wasn’t for me, don’t really like sci fi, but ds not bothered about this one, so yay! Traitors though, it’s fab viewing, can’t believe it finishes next week!!

Hope you’re having a fab time skiing @Thelittlestranger

ETA @bluelimesI bet those 3 pounds will disappear soon!

On the stranger things theme, my daughter is currently making an edible demigorgon from strawberries, melted chocolate and icing. She says it’s helping her ‘post Stranger Things depression’

@26inprogress I am sure I can help you with the syringes.
which bit do you find tricky?
Well done on 20 mins of running - that’s amazing. Agree with you re strength and fitness.

Thanks, you’re a star! Well, I have these syringes, do I literally pop the syringe into the pen and extract a dose then jab it? Or do I need to change to the other needle? I bent the needle a couple of times and lost a load of dosage the next, I’m rubbish! Also how do I carefully get the right dose? Sorry I should probably know this by now 🙄😂.
