Reassuring to hear we’ve got an average food spend, I think you’re all right in that there’s not much that can be done about it especially if you’re feeding teenagers and want to avoid too many UPFs. My DM has been away for an extended period, normally lives with us and has a tendency to fill the freezer with Iceland junk food (frozen chips, frozen battered fish, ready meals). It’s been liberating having total control over the kitchen and knowing that the majority of the food in the freezer (apart from some emotionally draining mince pies!) is all homemade batch cooked food or raw ingredients for cooking.

Sorry to hear that the 12.5mg hasn’t made much difference @myladyjane fingers crossed that a break on a lower dose and ignoring the scales for a while will help, at least mentally.

@Polkadotdash sizes are all over the place even in the same shops. I’ve got a size 6 dress and size 10 trousers from whistles. M&S jacket in size 12, trousers range from 8-10, even though I’m pear shaped.

@26inprogress eek, another reason I’m too scared to buy off vinted! Still love it for selling.
I’ve still got a couple of bits to sell, so may do some more of that tomorrow. And a couple of items aren’t shifting so I think I’ll charity shop them.

BlueLimes · 07/02/2026 19:06

@myladyjane lots of solidarity !! Would you consider 1 pen at 15mg? Understand you’re over it though…

myladyjane · 07/02/2026 20:17

@BlueLimes I don’t think so. I took the bonus dose this week and it was well over 60ml. I have barely been able to eat. On 12.5 and even 10 I get quite high suppression and I struggle to get enough nutrition in which I suspect is really not helping.

Jins · 07/02/2026 20:21

@myladyjane i think that’s an excellent plan. Take the pressure off yourself, you’ve done so well.

BlueLimes · 07/02/2026 20:24

Stick to your plan. Wishing you the result you want and deserve.

BlueLimes · 07/02/2026 20:26

@26inprogress glad you are feeling better. I think it takes a while for our skin to catch up ?

oh work is fine - I minimise my contact and it’s helps that others have seen her for what she is.

PrepossessingPenelope · 07/02/2026 20:44

Hi everyone, lots of updates. @myladyjane , @Polkadotdash and @BlueLimes solidarity from me too! @myladyjane sorry the higher dose didn't do much for you, how are you feeling on your new HRT? That could be having an impact couldn't it? @Polkadotdash your body won't have fully recovered internally from your surgery yet, you need to be kind to yourself.

I am sure those of us who struggle do so because of our personal homonal influences/make up.

I might have seen the goal I put into nutracheck but my weight remains very wavy, it was 1kg up the next time I weighed and decided not to weigh again before I left home.

I'm at the 'stuff it' stage tbh, I am also away and eating more than I would usually eat. Tomorrow I have got to cope with breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner, not sure about that but it is booked 😑.

I ate lamb for dinner tonight, didn't fancy any wine or other alcohol and didn't eat a pudding but I really didn't enjoy my food and it wasn't the food, which was incredible, it is definitely me. What I want to eat has definitely changed, but I don't think I actually know what I like to eat anymore tbh.

Aimingforearlierbedtimes · 08/02/2026 09:51

Hi all, checking in for accountability. I'm still a couple of kg higher than I'd like, kind of convincing myself that it's because I've been taking creatine but I think I'm actually just eating too much of the wrong things. Lifting is going well though so maybe there's something in the creatine theory. I do miss the days of eating half a pizza and having had enough, I think it's partly getting less sensitive to MJ over time and partly just not always listening to my body. I'm too used to childhood-ingrained plate clearing and need to get back to leaving food when I'm really not hungry. Life is a bit stressful at the moment too right now which doesn't help. Hope everybody is having a good weekend

DGmaintaining · 08/02/2026 10:29

Morning all. Have had a productive morning in bed ordering Ryanair-approved cabin luggage for next weekend’s trip.

@Aimingforearlierbedtimes I’m sure the creatine is adding water weight, but also maybe you’re hungrier because you’re feeding your muscles?

@PrepossessingPenelope when was your last dose? Wondering if you’ll get your taste for food back once the MJ is a bit lower in your system.

Woke up with another stiff neck this morning, I think it’s the floor press ups! Reminds me of that saying “just because I can do something doesn’t mean I should

Official weekly weigh in is maintenance at 58.4kg - so sticking with the 2mg jab again for the 6th week. Will jab early next weekend before our flight, and then back to Sunday the following weekend. And that’s my 2mg experiment done. Potentially going to 1.25mg from 1st of March.

HeidiLite · 08/02/2026 12:30

I have put on some weight over past couple of weeks for sure, but not going to weigh until I feel i have lost some. Arms are a bit softer with less definition. But getting stronger, am also on kreatine.

Has anybody who have had surgeries noticed something odd, my hair is getting greasy super fast. ChatGPT says it's normal and to give it a month or so, but super annoying. I already have greasy hair and now it's even worse.

PrepossessingPenelope · 08/02/2026 14:29

@DGmaintaining I think it was 8 days ago, could be 15, I need to check shotsy but it isn't on my ipad.

@HeidiLite I've never noticed that, is it a thing? I only need to wash my hair every five days or so.

26inprogress · 08/02/2026 17:42

Oh @myladyjane sorry to hear that 12.5 hasn’t worked. Like you say, hopefully moving to a lower dose, being able to eat more and more nutritious food should help and make you feel better. You’ve done brilliantly and maybe reducing pressure on yourself will make a difference too. Lovely to see you back too.

thanks so much @DGmaintainingive also just ordered a Ryanair approved bag, they’re tiny aren’t they!! Where are you off to? Well done on the maintenance, you’re doing so well!!
@PrepossessingPenelopehope you’ve enjoyed your food today and it’s been a lovely break.

@HeidiLiteglad you made it back to the gym, and hope you’re ok.

@Aimingforearlierbedtimessolidarity, I’m in a similar position, hope life gets less stressful soon.

myladyjane · 08/02/2026 18:35

@jinsand possibly @PrepossessingPenelope(maybe too far south?!?!?) but could I ask a favour? And anyone else who knows. I am taking dd to York for a night, just the pair of us. We are going to be staying in the premier inn (the layerthorpe one) and I wondered if you could suggest somewhere for dinner and breakfast. She likes relaxed, not posh and not too busy. Loves spicy (Mexican and Indian mostly) but will eat most stuff.

Also @jinsiirc you do a few walking tour things? Anything you could suggest - she likes ghosty/spooky but not jump scares and nothing with audience participation or too much enclosed space (this is my anxiety sufferer and this is a pre gcse chill out break).

thank you very much for any suggestions

PrepossessingPenelope · 09/02/2026 08:14

@myladyjane I am in York most weeks but I can't recommend either an Indian or Mexican restaurant, sorry!

I rarely stay in York for dinner and usually go to the Rise at the Grand (with friends not DC who think this is boring) when I do.

I can recommend Burr on Lendal - my favourite coffee shop ever with nice food - you could have a light breakfast here, DCs love Avocado Envy on Blake St for brunch and we often go to the Shambles Food Court for lunch, it has outside seating under tarpaulins, lots of food choices from around the world. Occasionally a piano player.

If I were staying in York I would go to Burr for coffee/muffin/something small so that I could eat at the Shambles Food Court during the day - depending on appetites sharing something from Shambles Kitchen - the wraps are huge - my favourite is the Chicken Shawarma.

Jins · 09/02/2026 08:36

@myladyjane I’m probably not much help on food outlets as when we visit York we are in our tourer 99% of the time and tend to cook or get takeaway.

I have done a few walking tours though, in fact my first ever ghost walk was in York. I’m not sure about it nowadays but there were definitely some jump scares in the one we were on.

Last time we visited we did a treasure trail which was great fun and took us to places we hadn’t seen before. I’ve linked the one we did HERE but there are loads of firms doing similar things. We said at the time it would have been a good thing to have done with our lads when they were teenagers. We may book the snickleways walking tour for our next visit

Zempy · 09/02/2026 09:31

I go to York regularly to visit family.

Absolutely love the ghost walks, well worth it. My favourite pub has great food, The Golden Fleece.

Polkadotdash · 09/02/2026 23:20

@myladyjane if your DD likes ghost type stuff, are you aware of the York Ghost Merchants? It’s the most amazing little shop that’s done out like a spooky Victorian emporium. It only sells ghosts. I have a few as they are collectibles. You chose your ghost and it’s delivered to you on a ghost train. They do a big ghost week event in October where they hide ghosts around the city for people to find. The only downside is that it can get very busy and you have to queue. But we once queued for 2 hours in a ghost week (I know) and the staff provide entertainment. It’s at the top of the Shambles (opposite end to Whip Ma Whop Ma gate or whatever it’s called!) https://www.yorkghostmerchants.com

myladyjane · 10/02/2026 08:26

@Polkadotdash ok dd would love that! Anything gothic or ghostly is right up her street.

@PrepossessingPenelope I have booked the avocado place for brunch - dd spotted about 6 things on the menu….

@Zempy @Jins thanks for the suggestions. I feel a bit spoilt for choice ghost tour wise so need to spend some time reading up .

DGmaintaining · 10/02/2026 08:46

Morning all, have managed to tighten up a bunch of muscles in my neck, shoulder, glute. Osteo reckons I need to learn to breathe using my diaphragm. So my daily press-up regime is off the menu while my muscles recover. Slightly annoyed that my home strength workouts always seem to result in a strain of some sort. Might just do a peloton ride tomorrow, as that’s always been a ‘safe’ exercise for me. I also think I need to slowly rebuild my core. Really feeling my age this week 😩

26inprogress · 10/02/2026 09:24

York break sounds the perfect pre GCSE treat @myladyjane, hope you and dd have a fab time!

What a pain @DGmaintainingso annoying. Hope it heals soon. I definitely need to rebuild my core too.

I’m back on track after a shaky couple of weeks, back to weight of mid Jan, still 3 pounds up from my lowest but considering my increased exercise and fact I look so wrinkly I’m ok with that! I’m focussing on exercise, taking collagen and trying to be less obsessed with weight. I’ve consistently been to 2-3 reformer classes a week and doing 2 weights sessions at home each week. Feeling so much better. 5mg seems to be working well too.

Right, busy day here, couple of job discussions and session with career coach. Have a great day losers!

HeidiLite · 10/02/2026 11:34

ah how annoying @DGmaintaining ! Hope it gets better soon. Maybe a good sports massage?

Aimingforearlierbedtimes · 10/02/2026 12:36

Hope you’re back to normal soon @DGmaintaining . I think it’s all about (for me at least) building up resilience. But it’s slow!

Thelittlestranger · 10/02/2026 14:45

I've been busy building up my core over the past 4 weeks in a bid to get running again. Pilates and yoga and tons of stretching, strengthening and conditioning. I've found it has made a huge difference to my posture and flexibility already. Off to the chiropractor on Thursday to see if they have any magical solutions. I did run for 10 mins, twice, in my walk today - the most I have done in months - and so far so good.

I've been keeping up with all your posts but not posting much. Weight maintaining, albeit at the top end of my 2lb band.

The York ghost shop always looks like fun, but the queues are hugely off putting. That entire street (Shambles) is good for a wander though. And we really enjoyed the Minster too. It's beautiful, and the crypt is a little eerie.

Good luck with the job chats @26inprogress - I'm currently in no mans land. Not doing much work, while waiting to have the end of role discussion. I wish they would just get on with it. I've been day dreaming about what other jobs I could do, and then hit the earth with a bump when I remember I have two dogs that require caring for 🙄 So I need to earn enough to cover that and make it worth it. I really want to exit the corporate world.

Polkadotdash · 10/02/2026 16:36

I’m glad you like the look of the Ghost Merchants @myladyjane. Perfect for a gothic loving teen. Hoping you can hit a spot where the queue isn’t too bad. The first time I went in there was in 2020, not long after it opened. We just drifted in and spent ages choosing ghosts with the kids. I had no idea how big and in demand it was going to get in the future.

I survived the staff conference and the profile photos. I made the guy take three batches of me. They were all awful! I looked about 5 sizes bigger than I think I am. I may just try taking one of my own. Or use AI to create a perfected version of me.
All the work chat has thoroughly depressed me. Those types of events just cement the idea to me that you can only be successful if you are an extrovert and can absorb financial losses if your career ‘bravery’ doesn’t work out. I’m a total introvert with no financial cushion. Depressing.
