Feeling back to normal today but dealing with constipation. Will it never end? I actually know the answer to this as it’s on my medical record and I’m on lifelong medication but still.

We both decided we needed a boost yesterday so we’ve booked 4 nights back in York. We’ve managed to get on the city centre campsite which is even better. We’ll be away for DHs birthday so no doubt we’ll be heading to our regular spot for a curry.

I’m going to head to my sewing space in a few minutes. Seeing as I can’t get to my wardrobe or chest and am rotating the same few tops I’ve decided to make something new to wear. 😀

PrepossessingPenelope · 04/02/2026 07:40

Morning - I'm under goal this morning 💃. Fabulous, 4st 9lb or 29.5kg gone.

I'm planning on stopping dead, but will weigh and start within two weeks if things aren't looking good. I will bin the rest of the bonus dose in my current pen today.

Shotsy reckons that it will be a month before my MJ levels are back to zero. I am looking forward to my zest for life returning and being less permanently constipated. Fingers crossed.

I'm knackered after yesterday, didn't get in from work until 10pm and then slept appallingly because I was thinking about work. Drove through snow on the way home too.

Best of luck for the all clear to return to normal today @HeidiLite .

Jins · 04/02/2026 07:54

Congratulations @PrepossessingPenelope! This is news I’ve been waiting for. I hope everything returns to normal for you although if you look back at what you’ve achieved in the past year without any zest for life I can’t imagine the blur that the next year will be 🤣

I’m plodding along at 8.10 +/- 1lb and I noticed a bit of suppression yesterday. I’m using Shotsy estimates to help get a picture of what’s going on and I have a feeling that 5mg will be my maintenance dose which isn’t too bad. Vertigo is much improved so I’m feeling pretty lucky on that front.

I’ve almost finished packing my sewing stuff and the plasterer is coming on the 9th so I’m hoping to make the move upstairs soon after. It’s going to be lovely to have a dedicated room to work in.

DGmaintaining · 04/02/2026 08:06

Congratulations @PrepossessingPenelope you did it!!! Enjoy your new life.

Just a note, if you do have to go back on a lower dose to maintain, your zest for life can still return. I felt ‘happy’ from about 4mg ☺️

BlueLimes · 04/02/2026 08:09

I am so happy for you @PrepossessingPenelope

Absolutely amazing 🤩

HeidiLite · 04/02/2026 08:12

amazing @PrepossessingPenelope !

My weight is up a bit again, but only expected - sitting at home around all the snacks, doing nothing. I will just call it my 'bulk season' 😀

Well done @PrepossessingPenelope that is great news.

I am skipping hotel breakfast this morning. Just don’t fancy it. Such a weird feeling after a lifetime of being focused on food.

myladyjane · 04/02/2026 08:26

@PrepossessingPenelope well done my lovely lovely lady!

PrepossessingPenelope · 04/02/2026 08:33

Thank you everyone. 😃@myladyjane thank you, very lovely to see you.

I was described as Mary Poppins by a firm I am consulting for when wrapping up a project this week - I thought about it on the drive home yesterday ....... maybe I don't come across as grumpy as I feel. Absolutely everything feels like an effort on the inside, obviously I prioritise my work but almost everything else gets a cba mark ..... maybe I hide it well.

I've got workmen in atm @Jins , essential and expensive work unfortunately (given the move/not move situation), lovely men but goodness it is very disruptive. I bet you will be glad when they have finished.

Thank you @DGmaintaining , if I do go back I guess I could start at 5mg.

@Zempy I am going away to a very swanky hotel for the weekend (partly to leave the workmen to it here, I thought what the heck). I have already looked at the breakfast menu extensively 😅. The restaurant has a Michelin star and small portions so I know I will be ok there, but breakfast is a different story, maybe I will just have to skip the gorgeous posh artisan bread 😑.

26inprogress · 04/02/2026 08:42

Fantastic news @PrepossessingPenelopeso pleased
for you! Look forward to hearing how you get on after coming off.
@Jinsso glad the vertigo seems to have gone, when are your bloods? Hope they come back normal. Exciting to have plans for your own space!

@HeidiLitehoping for good news for you!

I don’t know what’s going on here but I can’t stop eating. I’m really craving carbs too. I’ve got a lot going on , a couple of interviews, work planned here ( planning consultation ends next week) again necessary and will be v disruptive but won’t be fun, we live in a grade 2 listed house in a conservation area and they’re taking some of the side panels off. Also stressing as we have a drive up the side which is owned by a local
over 55 complex and if we need scaffolding we’re concerned they may refuse as access needed for ambulance. Also have 3 job processes on the go. I’m still debating dosage as think I may need the MJ help…. Would welcome
thoughts/ advice!!

meatyryvita · 04/02/2026 08:57

@PrepossessingPenelope what amazing news - congratulations!!! Do enjoy the hotel breakfast (a breakfast buffet is a thing of joy, is it not?) and should be savoured. Back to normal when you get back home - that's how 'normal' people handle it, I think.

We had workmen in yesterday and likely today too - electrics for the kitchen are done so I could use ovens and a stove last night - woo hoo! They've left a huge mess where cabling has been channeled in, so I'll become a crappy plasterer this weekend. Plumber is coming today to connect dishwasher and tap and then we're nearly done. Kitchen fitters need to come back to build a few drawers and fit a wine fridge and that will be it - can't wait til it's over.

HeidiLite · 04/02/2026 09:03

@meatyryvita ah new kitchen will be lovely! But yes I hate the process so much.

I really want a new dishwasher, ours is now 13 years old, but refusing to die. It is of course aged, the soft opening of door doesn't work and some racks showing their age - but it works, and I can't justify upgrading if not strictly needed. Every now and then it throws various error codes and I start excitedly reseraching new models, but the trouble is I'm quite handy and so far have always managed to fix it. Maybe next time..

Bloods on 9th @26inprogress Just standard tests as they haven’t done them for ages. I ought to dig out last years report from my private test and let them have it really.

I was in the same boat with our dishwasher @HeidiLite. Spent hours on it, mostly cleaning it out thoroughly. It took a while to realise that the heating element had gone and that was why tablets weren’t dissolving properly. That was a good day!

DS2 is back in work today after a week off so it’ll be my first chance to pick up some free yellow stickered stuff for a while. Looking forward to it

PrepossessingPenelope · 04/02/2026 09:46

I don’t want to jinx it but my dishwasher is 22 years old. My engineer told me that only the super expensive ones are made like this now, one sheet of stainless steel, no joins.

I talk to it, descale it, clean the arms now and then… etc.

HeidiLite · 04/02/2026 12:22

yay I got the splints out - there's SO MUCH AIR! Amazing. I can breathe again! Will sleep like a log tonight, no more waking up every 20 minutes because of dry mouth.
Exercise also OK, should start gently though. Contemplating an (easy!) arms and shoulders workout.

OP posts:
26inprogress · 04/02/2026 14:42

Yippee, brilliant news @HeidiLite, enjoy your sleep! Make sure if you do a workout, it is easy!

Aimingforearlierbedtimes · 04/02/2026 17:15

Excellent news @PrepossessingPenelope and @HeidiLite!

Is there some weird link between losing weight and improving one's living space? There seems to be a lot of it about at the moment (not me at this point). We have a dishwasher that works perfectly fine except that the display has died so we have no way to tell which type of wash is selected. As long as nobody presses any buttons it's OK...

MJalltheway · 04/02/2026 17:21

Fabulous news @HeidiLite! Take it easy on the exercising though! And @PrepossessingPenelope huge congratulations on hitting goal 🍾
amazing news!! I'm still terrified of even starting to reduce dose, I'm in awe of you just making the decision to stop!

We're also having work done here, new bathroom installation which has currently ground to a halt waiting for some bits of stone. I can't blame this on the MJ life improvements though, we've been steadily working our way through the house for a decade 😭

because of the bathroom upheaval, I haven't been weighing. I pulled the scales out this morning and I'm a smidge under goal still. No idea how, given how much chocolate I've been eating. very stressful time at work at the moment as the redundancy process trundles on, so maybe that's it. 😢

PrepossessingPenelope · 04/02/2026 18:06

Great news @HeidiLite.

Not planned work here, one of my showers stopped draining/developed an issue in a suprise underfloor location about six feet away from it tedious and disruptive but I am trying to be 😎as plumbing and ceilings are replaced and decorated.

I'm really hoping that stopping works for me but if not I will start again at 5mg in two weeks time.

HeidiLite · 04/02/2026 19:25

@MJalltheway we did the same but the house wasn't a fixer upper, just that previous owner had a very different taste. But house is mostly done now. It is lovely to have sparkling new bathrooms and kitchen.

Next I really want to do the bottom of the garden. Garden is tiny and several meters are taken up by huge massive thuja hedge, also plated by previous owner. Ideally I would like to get rid of the hedge, put a tall fence there and build a nice outdoors kitchen on the extra land. Will cost an arm and a leg though so not sure when I want to deal with this..

Thelittlestranger · 04/02/2026 20:17

@PrepossessingPenelope congratulations on hitting goal! Lovely news! And good luck coming off it. Despite not running, I'm still keeping it off. Exercise is really helping. Went for an indoor swim today for the first time in ages. Not much enjoyment, but it was knackering!!

DGmaintaining · 04/02/2026 20:44

Hooray for air @HeidiLite hope you get a better night’s sleep tonight.

We had our kitchen done in 2005, ended up replacing a lot of the appliances last year. We finally had to change the oven, dishwasher and fridge after over 20 years!
We did a lot of renovation last year, had to fix rising damp, subsidence, dodgy roof. But ds2 got a new room fit for a teen. Hoping for a less workmen-filled year.

Polkadotdash · 04/02/2026 21:15

@PrepossessingPenelope 4st 9lbs is absolutely amazing. I will need to check back as to what that equates to. Two massive holiday suitcases?

PrepossessingPenelope · 05/02/2026 05:35

Thank you @Thelittlestranger and @Polkadotdash 😄.

A small canoe apparently @Polkadotdash ! I'll take it, better than some of the other descriptions out there.

My sleep is absolutely appalling this week, I have been up since 3am and have actually written about eight work emails and scheduled them to send at 8am.

Still holding out hope to actually move house here so work is on hold other than addressing catastrophies but that's a bit tedious too tbh as there are things I would like to change that I am just putting up with.

Jins · 06/02/2026 09:16

Morning all. Still constipated and feeling like a whale but weight still steady.

My brother is still having scans and tests but the bronchoscopy came back with no malignant cells. Fingers remain crossed.

Off to see MIL today to explain her latest test results to her. Her myeloma has progressed which isn’t a surprise as she refused chemo. Doctors are asking if we think it’s necessary to continue regular tests so it looks a bit like end game. Not a huge shock for a 90 year old. DH and I remain unsure about how we should be feeling, she’s not been a positive force in our lives.

Nearly the weekend!
