Sympathies to @Jins for having to wait for the plasterer. This too shall pass 😑

PrepossessingPenelope · 27/01/2026 22:02

@DGmaintaining they were probably flapping about, I am three sizes smaller than they are .... must buy new pants.

Jins · 28/01/2026 06:47

Mortifying @PrepossessingPenelope. I feel for you. My worst clothing mishap was back when I was a young, slim goth and I was out clubbing wearing a rubber dress. Obviously rubber is under a fair amount of tension when in clothing form so when the back seam failed it failed spectacularly and I ended up in a rubber apron 🫢.

Zempy · 28/01/2026 09:16

@Jins I am sure you carried it off splendidly!

Re snowdrops, my garden has suddenly sprouted some for the first time in seven years. I wonder how that happened?

My parcels will start arriving today. I’m feeling a bit guilty, but I ordered basic long sleeve cotton tops, and cardigans, and one very nice going out top. Then stuff for DC birthdays. Which aren’t until June!!! You have to grab a bargain while you can!

Still 8:2 today and feeling good. Not going to inject less until I feel more stable though as away with work all next week and there will be temptation…

HeidiLite · 28/01/2026 09:38

@Zempy makes sense to buy stuff on sales, I always do. DS has basketball shoes 2 sizes up waiting because there was a good deal.

Over here slowly improving. After spending some time on social media, very grateful to live in a country where I didn't have to even think about how much any doc visits, tests, scans or surgeries will cost me. Or if i have enough sick days left to rest and recover.

57.1 kilos and haven't jabbed yet - no appetite and also antibiotics having some laxative effects on stomach, so will wait for that to stabilise first.

Aimingforearlierbedtimes · 28/01/2026 13:03

@Jins that’s a real 🙈! Hilarious to hear about but I’m sure a nightmare at the time (only thing to do is style out at that point I think and I’m sure you did!)
I’ve been on 7 for three weeks now, will see if I dare brave 6 this weekend or might do one more week at 7. Feeling reasonably stable but would still like to drop a Christmas kg.

MJalltheway · 28/01/2026 14:18

We are those foolish people who bought and lived in a doer-upper 🤦‍♀️ the current building work (new bathroom) is the very last thing that needs doing inside, and we've lived here 12 years! Never again.
@Jins mortified on your behalf! Hoping that the picture quality on screen was rubbish so no one got a high def view of your pants!
@HeidiLite glad things are improving! Definitely sensible to hold off on jabbing while you are still recovering.

ridiculously, I weighed myself this morning and am down even more! 0.7kg in a week! I had planned on sticking with 10mg for the next month while I wasn't losing tiny tiny amounts on it but might have to rethink that strategy. I have switched to Pharmulous this month, and am now being inundated with discount offers from Voy. I don't quite know what Pharmulous offer in terms of maintenance so I'll need to do some investigation.

Had my work trousers tied up with an elastic band today to stop them falling down. I need to do some taking in I think, these are all pretty new pairs.

Aimingforearlierbedtimes · 28/01/2026 14:38

Just for a laugh and also because I’m certainly not paying a human to tell me, I just asked ChatGPT what it thought my body shape was from photographs and also asked it to estimate my BMI. It seemed fairly accurate on both.

Jins · 28/01/2026 15:19

Ah it was @PrepossessingPenelope that had a trouser malfunction @MJalltheway. My rubber dress disaster was back in the 80s and nobody took a camera out back then.

I did style it out with the assistance of a couple of items borrowed from friends but the trouble with rubber dresses is that you need a liberal coating of talc to get them on so when the seam split it was accompanied by a puff of smoke. I don’t remember being too concerned and I had loads of support from folk around me who blocked views until I was decent again. I was wearing lace leggings underneath so I was almost decent for the rest of the night

DGmaintaining · 28/01/2026 21:37

@MJalltheway I’ve heard good things about Pharmulous’ maintenance support, although haven’t used them myself.

@HeidiLite good to hear you’re improving, any sense of smell returning?

@PrepossessingPenelope did your knicker flash draw out any secret admirers?

I treated myself to a bacon sandwich this morning for a work breakfast. Not had one since last summer. It was delicious. But about 20 mins later I felt v nauseous and think I must have over done the fat. Then totally not hungry at lunchtime but went through the motions of eating anyway.
Obvs all fine for dinner and worked up an appetite by the time I came home. So, definitely some suppression still going on at 2mg which is interesting.

PrepossessingPenelope · 29/01/2026 05:51

@DGmaintaining .... nooooooo 😱, I certainly hope not 😂.

I am literally spending all day on teams this week as I wrap up one piece of work - so tedious at times.

Hope everyone is well, are you feeling better @HeidiLite ?

My weight is up this morning, I ate bread yesterday, I bet that will be why.

Better news is that my final deliveries are due today, four new knits and two work shirts. Bit rubbish to see that my Brora knits have been reduced again (they are due for delivery today), £65 off the price I paid for two of them and they are not even here yet! Also two lovely jumpers from Whistles that I'm sure will fit and be nice as I have got them in another colour already.

Happy Thursday losers, the weekend is almost here. 💃

Jins · 29/01/2026 07:00

I caved in and ordered 3 Roka lucky dips. They are due to be delivered today and I’m expecting to return them all. It appears that if something includes the word mystery I’ll throw money at it.

I’ve had 3 jabs now from the current pen and haven’t felt even a tiny bit of suppression. If I wasn’t still getting the IBS benefits I’d think I’d been sent water. Shotsy tells me there’s around 5mg in my system but it doesn’t feel like it. Weight is on the up, nothing too serious yet but I need to keep an eye on it.

Off to visit MIL this afternoon (I’ve been bribed) then mooching round Shrewsbury for a couple of hours. I have no spare cash at all (Thanks HMRC) so will have to avoid shops.

HeidiLite · 29/01/2026 07:44

thank you all for asking, I am slowly improving. Some sense of smell and there is some airflow in the nose. Still a dull jaw pain, but not too strong.

I haven't done much sales shopping, but did get a few cute items from vinted. And way, way too many sports clothes and bikinis.
Need to go to shops with DD though, spent my time at home sorting out kids' clothes and she has grown out of everything. Kids are expensive! And the shoes - every time I buy them something, they grow 2 sizes overnight.

@PrepossessingPenelope bread has the same effect on me, I think mostly because it bungs me up. Worth it though, occasionally.

OP posts:
Zempy · 29/01/2026 08:00

@PrepossessingPenelope I couldn’t live with that. I would reorder and return the items arriving soon!

@HeidiLite I hope you feel your usual fabulous self soon.

@Jins did you know you can book Mystery holidays??!!!

I ordered a March delivery of a 15mg pen from Oushk as they had an £18 discount and 1p delivery. Hopefully no drama this time. I will just book a maintenance call if it comes to it. I have nothing to hide aside from the fact I am using pen for longer than four weeks. I will really have to work on titrating down if they get shitty about it. Still on 7mg.

Jins · 29/01/2026 08:22

I did know about mystery holidays @Zempy but I’ve been banned from even looking at them 😀. So far in 2026 I’ve bought a few roka lucky dips and a 10kg mystery fabric box which was awesome and full of stuff I’d never have thought of buying but can’t wait to use. Coupled with the two Amazon returns mystery boxes the lads got for Xmas I’m recognising that I have a problem.

I’m doing ok on Vinted at the moment so I’ve managed to fund my impulsivity so far but I’ve just put a holiday and a festival on instalments and when I totted them up and added my MJ costs it’s about the same as my meagre LG pension. Oops.

DGmaintaining · 29/01/2026 08:34

@Zempy i saw that discount code this morning, am tempted to order for a March/April delivery. But I think I’m going to hold firm till at least after Feb’s payday.
I’ve got enough for 30 weeks at 2mg or 25 weeks if I go back up to 2.5mg. Plus DH is also ordering every 4 weeks to build up his own stockpile.

I’ve recently increased my pension contribution from 3% to 10% - will take effect from February’s pay packet. Might be too much and I’ll have to maybe find somewhere between.

Coming down on MJ, going through a bit of a spending frenzy having reached goal weight, and being very susceptible to social media advertising…I trying to rein it in a bit. I get a dopamine hit from clicking ‘buy’ and the Apple Pay function has made it so much easier. I nearly bought some Rise & Fall bedsheets while on the 5 min drive from home to tube earlier this week. Do we need more bedsheets? No. Were they on sale? Yes.

HeidiLite · 29/01/2026 08:54

I got totally addicted when I first discovered beauty subscription boxes. But managed to stop that - yes a lot of fun, but my bathroom was overflowing with stuff I never used.

OP posts:
Zempy · 29/01/2026 09:07

@DGmaintaining Future you will thank you for increasing pension contributions. Future you won’t remember the attraction to the bed sheets.

I have sold well on Vinted this year, but bought just as much. I really need to “wear my wardrobe” but end up wearing the same three roll neck jumpers on rotation! I will have loads to sell when spring/summer arrives. My Easter break will be spent sorting my wardrobe and taking photos.

HeidiLite · 29/01/2026 09:16

yes I'm trying to be quite ruthless - we tend to buy the same style, don't we, and then only wear the favourite out of all the navy t-shirts I have. So if I have a better, more flattering version of the same item, off to the charity with the inferior one. Will never reach for it anyway.

OP posts:
PrepossessingPenelope · 29/01/2026 13:48

@Zempy I know - seems a few quid too far doesn't it. I will see how much I love them and check availability before I decide what to do.

I also had far too many beauty box subscriptions @HeidiLite, I started in COVID from memory. I don't bother now but I do buy brand specific advent calendars in the sales, so just the brands I use and love.

@DGmaintaining it is a fab thing to do and very tax efficient isn't it. I am thinking of starting at 7.5% additional in my new job and if I can, adding my payrise every year to my pension contributions. Depends on COL though doesn't it.

@HeidiLite I resolved only to buy things I love and really nice quality clothes post fatness (this was what I did pre fatness) and I've stuck to it so far. I abandoned my favourite brands when I was a size 18, back to them.

I was only thinking though earlier that my shopping haul ranges from a size 10 to a 14 - from the same shop, so you really can't set much by labels alone can you.

26inprogress · 29/01/2026 14:14

Hi everyone

Oh gosh, feel for you @PrepossessingPenelopewith your knickers, glad you styled it out, absolutely right. 😬at all the other stories too. Well done on the thoughtful shopping though, sounds amazing! Like Zempy I’d definitely reorder with those savings, Brora isn’t cheap even in sales really hope you manage to get away too.

@HeidiLiteglad to hear you’re getting there, sounds like you’ve had a tough time. Good to hear you’re being productive while you’re recovering!

I laughed at the CHat GPT comment on mince pies taking up emotional space 😂so far today it’s given me the best Brazil itinerary, advice on a friend who’s going through possible redundancy, information on tax I’m owed from HMRC seeing as I was way overtaxed and how to claim back, and given me an exercise routine including rehab while my tendinitis heals. It’s amazing: what did I do without it!

Sorry to hear about plasterer jins and hope mil visit ok!
I’ve done quite well in the sales but not bought any work clothes as just don’t know what I’ll be doing! Waiting for interviews for 2 roles, v different but one has an amazing pension! Not as exciting as the other so will need to do some hard thinking assuming one comes off.

I’ve spent my week holiday planning, booked Helsinki in March annd doing some pre planning of our Brazil trip before official planning session with friends on Sat. and cycling on my exercise bike, its v dull but needs must! Have been very hungry, took bonus dose out of my 7.5 yesterday but again seemed to spill a lot! Heading into London for a mooch and dinner with old colleagues which will be nice.

HeidiLite · 29/01/2026 14:56

@26inprogress what's the plan for Helsinki? Day trip to Tallinn as well?

OP posts:
MJalltheway · 29/01/2026 17:05

Ooh yes @DGmaintaining tell us more about ChatGPT analysing your freezer contents?! Sounds like something I really need to do. Did I say I'd set up a meal planning spreadsheet and used ChatGPT to write a script to automatically populate the next 5 weeks of meals? Makes life so much simpler.
cannot WAIT for this week at work to be done, it's all a bit of a shitshow at the moment. It's almost like making so many people redundant you then struggle for capacity to run the place is a BAD idea 🤦‍♀️
I'm on the hunt for a new car this weekend, looking for something big and reliable. We are a very tall family so headroom is always the most important factor! Although I suffer from Raynauds in winter so I've also added a heated steering wheel to my must-have list.

HeidiLite · 29/01/2026 17:15

@MJalltheway what are you considering? We have a Skoda Enyaq (full electric) that I adore. Plenty of room for DH (6'4'') Has heated steering wheel.

OP posts:
26inprogress · 29/01/2026 17:46

Sadly no Tallinn this time, that’s for another trip hopefully later this year! We’ve only got Friday eve to Sunday Eve, park run, then the sauna and sea dip and mooching and eating I thin. Can’t wait!
chat gpt is fab! I had a note with all our meals last year and asked it to analyse that and give me suggestions to improve. It was great and reassuring to see our food habits are very good.

oh dear, work sounds tough @MJalltheway, nearly Friday. Good luck car hunting!
