Oh, and don’t bother getting krona. Most places are card only, even little corner shops

HeidiLite · 20/01/2026 12:45

very true, I go to Sweden every few weeks or so and have not needed any cash yet.

@Zempy I have been keeping myself amused with all the pisstake reels that are imagining what the dance was like! To be fair, I feel for him. It must be really hard having a hyper driven mum like VB and a dad who has issues with OCD that everyone seems to brush under the carpet. I’d never want to be famous, ever ever ever.

BlueLimes · 20/01/2026 13:52

Oh I think he’s a spoiled brat who trades on his name and would be better keeping this as a private family matter.

26inprogress · 20/01/2026 14:44

Thank you all, fab recommendations, have added them all to my note!!

PrepossessingPenelope · 20/01/2026 15:13

😱 It is even in the Times today, although the FT remains a Beckham free zone. I have absolutely no time for these celebrities and their offspring.

My favourite news stories of the last week (looking for joy here) has been Veronika the Austrian cow, she is making scientists rethink the cognitive ability of animals after being filmed using a broom to scratch various parts of her body, using the brush bit for thicker skinned parts and the handle for softer skin! Plus White Gladys the matriarchal Orca - her pod has developed its own dialect! Fabulous!

I must stop shopping, I am winding up a big project and looking to the next thing in my work pipeline, for some reason I am shopping endlessly, a suit, dress and boucle jacket has been purchased since the trousers I bought first thing.

Polkadotdash · 20/01/2026 16:09

I’ve mainly been distracted by it because I’m so bloody bored at work. I’m fed up with working at home, but I haven’t got the strength to be commuting in more than once a week - and even if I do go in to the office, I’m often the only person there. January is dragging on, the cold and the grey are wearing me down. I’m in a real lull at work and trying to find things to keep me occupied, which sounds lovely but is soul destroying. I need something to look forward to!!

BlueLimes · 20/01/2026 16:33

Love the thought of Orca dialect. I love a boy me jacket @PrepossessingPenelope do you mind linking it?
@Polkadotdash we’re almost through January. Trying to think of something for you - January is a great time for a theatre bargain ?

Polkadotdash · 20/01/2026 17:21

@BlueLimes ah thank you! I remembered earlier that I have £100 voucher for Selfridges when @PrepossessingPenelope mentioned it. It was a birthday present from 2024 so I have to get on and spend it. Problem is, £100 doesn’t go far in that shop and I’m not really a Selfridges shopper! Ideas on what I could treat myself to? I was thinking make up maybe but then I thought I can’t really waste birthday money on that.

Ooh that’s a brilliant bonus! They still have their sale on, I know of someone who got a gorgeous designer suit for a steal, how about doing a watch by size in their sale and seeing if you can get something wonderful! Or a nice perfume if that’s your thing? Enjoy spending and hope it gives you that dopamine hit!
@PrepossessingPenelopeooh that sounds like a fab haul!

BlueLimes · 20/01/2026 17:46

@Polkadotdash if probably go for lip gkoss, hand cream and a perfume 😊 (admittedly would be snells bottle but a lovely treat) or a nice bath oil and look at sale to pick up something clothing wise

BlueLimes · 20/01/2026 18:01

*small bottle

PrepossessingPenelope · 20/01/2026 18:57

@BlueLimes I bought This from Hush, bargain with an extra 15% off. I usually find that Hush runs very big on the shoulders and return almost everything from there so we shall see.

@Polkadotdash is there anything you’d particularly like? I find Selfridges website really annoying because the filters are so limited. I always start by browsing the sale and then brands.

BlueLimes · 20/01/2026 19:06

Oh that’s lovely and a complete bargain.

PrepossessingPenelope · 20/01/2026 19:49

Let us see @BlueLimes ! I never seem to be the right shape for their clothes but I'll try. I added a couple of things onto an order for something DD wanted because they were such a bargain.

Polkadotdash · 20/01/2026 20:57

@PrepossessingPenelope everything I want/need mostly comes from M&S! I could happily spend £100 there. I know that the gift card was a lovely thought for me to splash out on something frivolous from a ritzy retailer but I really struggle to think of anything to buy with it!

Make up, fragrance, posh tights! I spent a £50 Selfridges voucher on a fancy bra.

PrepossessingPenelope · 21/01/2026 04:55

@Polkadotdash would you like something more practical in the home dept. White company candles are reduced, as are pretty mugs.

I have to say that I only usually buy presents or reduced things from the brands I buy elsewhere generally, here and Liberty are good for that.

If all else fails can you buy gifts in the sale for other people with your voucher and give yourself £100 to spend at M&S?

PrepossessingPenelope · 21/01/2026 05:07

Bowl here https://www.selfridges.com/GB/en/product/waterford-lismore-essence-elliptical-crystal-bowel-15cm_R04167144/

Teapot https://www.selfridges.com/GB/en/product/wedgwood-cuckoo-teapot-370ml_547-10010-5C106805133/

Scarf https://www.selfridges.com/GB/en/product/whistles-fringed-wool-blanket-scarf_R04597364/#colour=GREY

There is a lot of Waterford in the home sale around that mark..

i’d buy the teapot I’ve linked to if I didn’t want anything else as it’s practical and I’m always breaking the lids. Or I’d go for make up.

Actually I might go for the Whistles scarf and put it in my present cupboard and give myself the cash! I hope you find something that you like.

Zempy · 21/01/2026 06:44

Little Fucker has survived another night. 😡

I am close to losing my sense of humour about it. Big sigh, shoulders back. This too shall pass.

I was lying (not in bed obvs) nodding off last night and berating myself for eating a leftover choc bar. Then I realised it is the stress that caused it. Funny how quickly we forget when we aren’t regularly “excusing” foolish eating choices. I’m weighing far less often, maybe once or twice a week. Is everyone else weighing daily?

PrepossessingPenelope · 21/01/2026 07:44

What a tenacious little chap @Zempy. I could have Prepossessing 🐈No.2 shipped overnight if required, I know he would embrace the adventure.

I have always weighed daily, don't seem to be able not to but I think a couple of times a week is great. Weighing daily is sometimes not so great. I've gained half a kilo this week, suspect if I actually went to the loo it would disappear.

HeidiLite · 21/01/2026 07:46

I weigh a few times per week, not necessarily daily. Not sure what the best option is, as weight of course fluctuates a lot. And I don't want to obsess about it. But then again, I also don't want to suddenly discover I have put on several kilos because I Ignored the scale.

Surgery tomorrow for the septum and cyst. Not exactly looking forward to the experience but needs to be done. Also not looking forward to not being able to exercise for a little while. But surely the muscles can manage a little break?

Loving the Waterford bowel @PrepossessingPenelope. Someone needs to proof read better.

Time for a cat @Zempy.

New hygienist again yesterday. As I’ve had 7 different hygienists in the last 3 years I’m getting good at judging them. This one I liked. She was both friendly and thorough. Chances are I’ll never see her again

Zempy · 21/01/2026 08:12

It’s cat central where I live so I could probably just pick one up and take it upstairs and 🤞

Good Luck tomorrow @HeidiLite we will all be thinking of you.

PrepossessingPenelope · 21/01/2026 08:32

Yes, best of luck @HeidiLite , make sure you take enough time to rest and recover.

@Jins I am a good shopper if nothing else. I thought that Waterford type designs were out of fashion, I don't think they are after looking.

@Jins How often do you have to see a hygenist? Is it every six months like the dentist?

I've had three medjool dates for breakfast again ..... fingers crossed, must get on. I've been up for hours again, I have also done some shopping, I need to pack it in.
