Checking in. Thanks for the new thread

Thanks @HeidiLite.
New year, new name for me ( 2025istheyeari !)

great to read everyone’s anniversary updates, what a year we had! And we’re still here!!

Wish I’d had the scales to measure fat etc, but I think I was so daunted by the amount of weight I had to lose that that had to be my focus. This year is about strength and fitness. Started c25k yesterday, last ran in 2019! Amazing how much it easier it is 5 1/2 stone lighter. I ditched some of the plan and ran for 8 minutes, could have done 10. It’s not the most exciting as because of my eyes I can only really run up and down my drive but hey! There’s a green way opened recently nearby so I’m going to try that too.
DH and I are going to reformer Pilates in a minute, hoping that becomes a regular twice weekly thing depending on how we like it and starting swimming again, so there we go. They are my goals for the year, will also do weights at home.

Great news that things are moving hunkydory and so interesting to hear all your experiences on wegovy, not great.

Have a great Sunday losers!

HeidiLite · 11/01/2026 09:35

Happy Sunday, losers!
It is quite amazing how much easier exercise is when not carrying a full sized penguin worth of weight around. I have also noticed that even when I work hard in a cardio class, I barely sweat nowadays, and I've always been a super sweaty person whop left any fitness class soaked. Odd.

Thank you for the new thread @HeidiLite

myladyjane · 11/01/2026 09:53

@26inprogress that’s exactly the same as me. So much weight to shift first and this year is the year to focus on health and movement. Also I am very conscious that my kids won’t be at home for much longer and with twins it’s going to be quite a blunt separation (uni at same time) so I want to seriously start thinking about the next phase. I work, I parent, I don’t do much else (I probably don’t wife as much as I should bless him).

i also restarted c25k just before Christmas albeit at a very slow rate. I have a chronically unstable knee joint thanks to my hyper mobility and whilst physio has said I can run, it needs to be very slow and steady and not too often. So I’ve not been this week because I can’t risk any slips on ice - I know from experience it will flare it up and bugger it for a couple of months. So knowing my limits/being sensible is my way forward. I am really enjoying it though, love being outside and moving.

thanks for new thread @HeidiLite

So true. I’m running faster than I have done for years.

Thanks for the new thread @HeidiLite!
Also trying out a new name for this year - fka DGonMJ. Inspired by @26inprogress

I have also found running to be so much easier - but also feel quite wobbly doing it and the idea of tripping over and falling makes me anxious. But even a fast power walk uphill doesn’t have me gasping for breath anymore. I guess, less of me to oxygenate?

PT had me on the pull up bar doing regressions yesterday, so now my arms don’t work today. This is the kind of progress I’m loving. Still feel no closer to pulling myself up unassisted, but something must be happening with my muscles.

Going to do another 2mg jab today. Weight has stabilised this week so I think I’m good to continue.

Zempy · 11/01/2026 11:05

Thanks for new Fred.

All good here, aside from being 🥶🥶🥶

I am in court all of next week, which I hate because of the commute to London. Looks like a really boring case too, although the witnesses might surprise me and provide some entertainment.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend losers.

BlueLimes · 11/01/2026 11:22

Thanks for the new thread.
Loving the new names.

my 1 year anniversary is this week but I’ve decided to move it to next week- psychologically I want my Christmas gain gone for the 1 year stats. Nuts I know.

I was out last night, at the grand age of 53, I’ve realised if I don’t have more than 3 drinks - I can function the next day. So I’ve been for a run and now with DS at Rugby.
Have a great day.

PrepossessingPenelope · 11/01/2026 11:49

New thread, new name 😊, 3lbs to go, 3 x 8.33mg left in my pen according to my calculations, haven't dared to go above that dose as I feel quite nauseous on it.

Anniversary date less than two weeks away, just checked my goal and it is actually 25.1 BMI (thought it was higher than that).

Happy Sunday losers.

Thelittlestranger · 11/01/2026 11:56

@BlueLimes 2-3 drinks is optimum and maximum at the same time I feel. Enough to enjoy, not enough to feel rubbish.

The last two days has seen me dive into the food. Around 1800 cals both days (approx) and no running as I'm resting my hip. It's making me panicky - and I realise how much the running was 'allowing' me mentally to not worry about food.

Love to hear so many of you getting out there and trying new ways to get fit/strong. I saw my Vo2max get to 44 over the past 6 months - apparently I have the fitness age of a 20 year old. Given that I'm having to take a few days off running because I hadn't done enough stretching, I certainly don't feel as fit as a 20 year old.

I did have a lovely hour long yoga session this morning though - good for the soul, as we dive into the first proper week back next week now OH is returning to work too.

Enjoy your Sundays all x

Thank you for the new thread @HeidiLite
So lovely to read everyone's anniversary posts.
My starting weight was 11 stone 8 and lowest was 8 stone 4 (over 28% lost). I'm 156cm / 5'1.5 for reference. Post Christmas I'm 8 stone 10 (but also not jabbed for 3 weeks, but did start a low dose of ADHD medication just over a week ago. I'm hoping long term this medication will do what mj did in terms of removing food noise). I lost the majority of the weight by the end of May, so around 5 months and spent the remaining 7 months on 2.5mg (from a 5mg pen). Occasionally going up a dose to around 3.5 after a holiday, particularly if I'd left it longer than a week due to being away (just the last couple of holidays, when losing I jabbed weekly religiously). I found during December the 2.5mg dose didn't really do much, hence putting on the weight! It's possible it just took the edge off for the last few months but my willpower could not hold through December. Plus I think a bit of diet fatigue, bringing some foods I had been avoiding.
I have rediscovered my love of the gym, having gone every week since March, initially once per week for the first month, then twice and laterally 3 - 4 times. My body has changed dramatically with the strength work with people often commenting that I've lost more weight when I hadn't! So I'm taking the slight gain (based on goal being 8 stone 6, so 4 pounds to lose to get back there, 6 to where I want to be before my next holiday mid Feb) with a pinch of salt and prioritising healthy eating, lots of gym work, 10,000 steps per day on average across the week. I'm hopeful the excess will come off and if it doesn't I'm very happy to get back on the jabs (via Pharmulous).
I don't post very often, I sometimes struggle to keep up and don't want to post and miss stuff, but I do always read and enjoy everyone's updates.
I think 2026 is going to be incredible for us all!

@tinyemmy same here, a little gain to deal with, would like to be back at 57 kilos before my February holiday. Going anywhere fun?

Wonderful! My bikini will be on show in the hot tub, although for the most part I will be wearing padding 🤣

Thanks for the new thread @HeidiLite
I'm also name changing to reflect new goals (fka Aimingdown), it's the first January in I don't know how long that my goal hasn't been to lose weight. I'm really pleased with my improved eating and gym-going in 2025, now I think sleep is the missing piece. I have a bad tendency to go to bed late, be tired and inefficient in the morning, then get a 'second wind' at night and stay up too late trying to catch up. I would also like to read more and be more organized, both of which may improve with better sleep habits. At least I've broken the habit of eating biscuits late at night while trying to get stuff done. I also have the elusive press-up and possibly pull-up on my list of course!
We have all done so well, I have really enjoyed sharing experiences in 2025 with you all and am looking forward to continuing! I took a sneaky peek at the new 'January starters' thread, that's us a year ago and I want to tell them what a worthwhile journey this is 💪

HeidiLite · 11/01/2026 18:02

MummyInTheNecropolis · 12/01/2026 06:17

Hello everyone, I joined this thread back in January 2025 with you all, my start date was 9th Jan. I stopped posting after a few months as I had so much more to lose than anyone else so hopped over to the 10 stone or more thread instead but have popped back in now and again to read your updates. Well done on all of your progress!

I reached my target just before Christmas with a total loss of just over 13 stone: I’ve gone from a BMI of 53.1 down to 24.4, and from a size 24 to a size 10. I wasn’t aiming to do it this quickly, I thought it would take me a good couple of years, but it happened much faster than planned - not that I’m complaining! I did have some hair loss but that stopped a few months ago. Also have plenty of loose skin but it’s nowhere near as bad as I expected. I have taken up lots of exercise including hiking, running, yoga and Pilates which I think has helped.

Overall, I’ve come further than I ever thought possible, my life has changed so much and I feel like a different person. I’m in maintenance now and so far have managed to maintain over Christmas and new year whilst reducing my dose to 7.5 (I never went higher than 10mg).

Thank you all for the support last year when starting out and best of luck to you all as you continue your journeys.

BlueLimes · 12/01/2026 06:26

@MummyInTheNecropolis absolutely amazing - wow, almost unbelievable. Thrilled for you.

waves @BreezyPeer
also @Zempy as I’ll be at work near you today 😊

BlueLimes · 12/01/2026 06:31

@Aimingforearlierbedtimes @tinyemmy @Thelittlestranger lovely to hear your updates. @PrepossessingPenelope 3lbs to go - so pleased for you as a fellow tortoise.
@26inprogress good luck with the running

Zempy · 12/01/2026 07:05

@MummyInTheNecropolis that is AMAZING!!! Do you find people don’t recognise you if they haven’t seen you for a while?

I only lost five stone and had problems opening my phone with my face! You must be so proud of yourself.

@BlueLimes I will be waving back to you!

Have a good week lads.

HeidiLite · 12/01/2026 07:56

@MummyInTheNecropolis wow! that's amazingly impressive. Size 24 to 10 - like @Zempy says, you must have a lot of people who don't even recognise you. I've lost just 3 stone, and even I had some experiences like that. You must feel like a new person. Any issues with ID photos?

Now, would it be really weird to go to 2026 January group and tell them I'm their Ghost of Xmas Future? :D
