Brand new January 2026 starters

BG2015 · 26/12/2025 11:58

Hi, my first WG pen is in the fridge ready to start on 1st January.

Im 56 (57 in Feb) post menopausal and cancer survivor in remission 5 years nearly. still taking cancer prevention medication that I believe that is hindering my weight loss. I just can't seem to lose it no matter how much I try. It took me 5 months to lose 10lb earlier on in the year.

Im 5' 8" so carry my extra weight well.
CW 13stone
TW 11 stone

Whose joining me on this weight loss journey?

@Spartak I did think this. I’m hoping it is a bug rather than side effects. I suppose the only way to tell is to jab as normal next week and see…

Spartak · 03/01/2026 19:14

I've got a fuzzy head but I'm otherwise OK today. I just went food shopping at Tesco and it was really odd. I just didn't have any interest in anything. All the leftover chocolate for 50p and I just walked by!

I have told my family and one friend but not going to tell others I think. Part of me thinks it isn’t a secret and it will help people see that it isn’t self control eat less move more etc but I have decided I need to campaign for myself now and not the world at large

I’ve told my friend who has already lost two stone doing mounjaro - but we only speak via text so I know he can’t drop me in it with anyone - I don’t want to tell anyone else yet not even DH as I just need to focus on me without anyone commenting on how well / badly it’s going

Ive already started being good with my eating and exercising habits over the last two days and did a 5 mile walk yesterday

Outwardly anyone watching will think oh she’s just losing it with diet and exercise 😬 I will fess up eventually to my nearest and dearest

Hi all, classing myself as a January starter because I started wegocy back in September, got a stone off and then felt like I’ve stood still for the last month. Food noise is more of an issue than appetite so I am switching to MJ and starting when my pen arrives
looking forward to seeing how we all get on

HannahBoyle · 03/01/2026 19:39

I had my first jab yesterday but I seem to be eating normally today. I still have an appetite. That shouldn’t be the case I’d guess?

I think it's normal too. It might take time for appetite to decrease.

AddUpToNothing · 03/01/2026 19:50

Evening all.

My pen arrived this morning and I jabbed myself a couple of hours ago - much easier than I thought it would be. And I didn’t feel a thing which I was really worried about. Now I only need to worry about side effects 😂

I am off to Tesco shortly to get some healthier foods in now the last of the Christmas stuff is gone! Going to try and stay clear of my downfall - white carbs…

I definitely need to force myself to drink more. I usually only have a drink with a meal which is nowhere near good enough.

It’s great to read from so many of you how quickly you’ve noticed a change since starting your first dose.

Weirdly, after first jab on Wednesday and feeling plenty of appetite suppression over the first few days, I'm now finding I'm craving snacks again, even if my meal portion sizes are smaller.

I did my first jab Thursday lunchtime and I'm still eating normally too, but maybe slightly fuller than normal. Feel hungry as well.

Im eating a lot less because I'm calorie counting, so i know I'll lose for the first couple of weeks anyway. We shall see what happens as we get towards the end of the month.

I need it to work quicker - my kids have just cooked frankfurters and fried eggs - and it smells amazing!!!!!!!!

I think I need to give it more than two hours since my first jab for food noises to go away! 😂

YellowStockings · 03/01/2026 20:18

Just taken my first dose of Wegovy this evening. Feel quite nervous about side effects and a bit anxious about it all, but also quite excited to start what will hopefully be a positive experience.

Now you’ve said it I think my DH was the same for the first couple of weeks, he felt like he needed the next jab. But it resolved after that.

letsdothis5 · 03/01/2026 20:27

just an update from me.

im due my second dose tomorrow, so ending the first and the cravings and appetite have come crashing back in again which isn’t ideal as I’m not sure I can do this long term, so need to find a way to keep it up without this too.

i had zero appetite in the first few days and barely made 1000 cals a day so I’m down 7lb since Monday 🫣 but realistically I know that’s not sustainable. Feeling a bit Meh today 🙄

I am the same. I do still feel quite full much quicker, but my appetite returns quite soon after the last meal. Maybe a couple of hours later.

Whatstfpoint · 03/01/2026 20:30

@letsdothis5 I think realistically (from past dieting experience) the cravings decrease with the more healthy diet, so maybe there will be a point at which that happens. And then the jab will help with the remaining cravings.

letsdothis5 · 03/01/2026 20:31

@Whatstfpointim really hoping that will be the case. I was hoping for a good few months of getting the good habits in that’ll then stick when I come off but I’m struggling with getting the healthy eating habits in when I can’t even bare to look at food for the first 4-5 days 🤦🏻‍♀️

Is this with MJ? Hopefully it evens out a bit!

letsdothis5 · 03/01/2026 20:37

@Whatstfpointyep. The starting 2.5mg dose. I’m probably being incredibly impatient too (as per) as it’s only my first jab!

Concernedcatmum · 03/01/2026 20:43

Hello! I did my first injection today (MJ), not felt too different yet. Have been eating a lot less than usual but think that might be more because I’m consciously trying to eat better. I need to loose about 30kg so really hoping it works

I felt a bit like this today!
jabbed yesterday for the first time (wegovy) and I’ve felt a bit ropey today- headache all day and nauseous this morning with an empty tummy, but still hungry during the day.
When I did eat, I did feel fuller more quickly though. I’ve eaten less than normal but I’m sure that’s just where I’m being conscious of what I’m eating.

intentionals · 03/01/2026 23:08

I had some scrambled eggs and feel really sick. Only had my first jab one day ago. So I am hoping this is just an initial thing and will settle down. Anyone had the same?

Dewberrywotsit · 04/01/2026 07:41

I have started two days ago on 2.5 MJ from my local kamsons. It felt easier to be weighed on site and she helped guide me through first injection. My BMI is 31 and I would be happy as heck to go back to 25 and stop there. I am menopausal. So far my symptoms are: wobbly, exhausted, spaced out, nauseous, weepy as heck and feeling like a space cadet. I have lost my appetite completely, but am purposely eating regularly as I want to go slow and steady and am really anti starving my poor body as it breaks your metabolism in the longer term. I am eating really healthy food thus far and including chia seeds and flaxseed in my yoghurt and fruit etc. plus barocca i the morning. I noticed that grapes and apples, which I usually love, made me do weird burps. The burps are gross. I also have invisalign! True mid-life crisis mode here to be honest! Trying to change everything at once whilst working full time probably not very wise. Aaaaaargh. Anyway - keen to be alongside others starting their journey :) hello 😍

goldylock · 04/01/2026 10:35

Had first jab Friday eve.

Have had no bad effects (yet!) bar woke Sat morn with an unusual swollen tonsil (which is gone down now).

Followed advice of inject after eating (a more protein heavy dinner), couple hours before bed, inject into stomach, and eat smaller even if feeling full, which I did upto dinner yest.

Had a great night's sleep and full of beans to play a tennis match later and then a shop.

Breakfast on the way. I feel hungry but not ravenous/eat anything in my path. Feels like that's the blood sugar part of MJ working.

intentionals · 04/01/2026 11:42

so now two days after the first jab and was up and down all night dashing to the loo. Feel a bit down that I am feeling the side effects quite badly but hoping underneath all of that is some appetite suppressant. I am off on holiday in a few months and I am sitting here imagining glamorous outfits to try to make the indignity of these side effects feel worth it!

glutenisthedevil · 04/01/2026 11:48

Can I join please? Looking to lose 5 stone. My weight has always fluctuated and I've previously been able to lose through diet, however I'm finding it increasingly difficult now I'm late 40s and perimenopausal.

I took my first 2.5 of MJ last night and had a mild injection site reaction within the hour, which thankfully has gone already. I didn't notice any suppression when I woke this morning and ate breakfast as normal but did feel a bit queasy after drinking a cup of tea. It'll be interesting to see if it has any effect on my Sunday roast later!
