Hi, my first WG pen is in the fridge ready to start on 1st January.

Im 56 (57 in Feb) post menopausal and cancer survivor in remission 5 years nearly. still taking cancer prevention medication that I believe that is hindering my weight loss. I just can't seem to lose it no matter how much I try. It took me 5 months to lose 10lb earlier on in the year.

Im 5' 8" so carry my extra weight well.

Whose joining me on this weight loss journey?

Joining. I'm on day two. I feel really nauseous and cold! Not sure what to eat because I am not clear what I fancy at all. I've had one smallish meal today. Headachey and finding it hard to concentrate.

Tempted not to take the second dose! Does it get better???

I never had this when I first started, just sheer diarrhea for 4 days straight! Drink some water to help with the headache, it was about a momth later for me when I realised i was freezing cold and this was April last year! The actual cold weather won't be helping

Whatstfpoint · 05/01/2026 18:26

My second jab is Weds so I soon need to think about whether or not I will order a higher dose. I do want to retain enough appetite that requires me to change my ways, but I worry that if I stay too low my appetite will steamroll me. I was ravenous last during the night and I ate something then, but my appetite is still low two days before the next dose.

ChilledProsecco · 05/01/2026 18:29

Urgh, I’m not getting anywhere with Pharmacy2U. They sent a link first thing & when I got to work I clicked on it as I can weigh myself there - and could upload drivers license etc.

So I started the process, only to find out that I required to do so in a mirror, so couldn’t complete it.

Thought I’d try at home but the link/message seems to have expired. Guessing it’s a once-only link. But frustrating as that wasn’t made clear.

Going to try & contact them now

Thanks @notcomfortable .

Do these symptoms get better? What the HELL do people face eating?

Definitely got better for me
But I started loosing a lot of hair so just a different set of problems really 😂
Protein shakes was a big one for me, you still need to keep your protein intake high. I was still eating 4-5 smaller meals even on 10mg
If you really can't face eating more than a mouthful then you have to consider the possibility that this medicine is not for you as you definitely should not starve yourself xx
I had cereal or Greek yoghurt for breakfast
Scrambled egg and protein bagel for midmorning snack
Sandwich or chicken pasta salad for lunch
Then dinner would be chicken or mince with rice
Greek yoghurt for desert
Before bed would be fruit salad and sometimes a bag of crisps just cos I felt like it 😂

BG2015 · 05/01/2026 18:52

@Whatstfpointmy appetite is all over the place too. It's very weird.

Hello everyone! Happy new year!

Joining as I just got my video and BMI approved by pharmacy2go so hoping to receive my first mounjaro jab this week!

Anything to know before beginning? Tips on what to eat in the couple of days before it arrives?

Excited to start this journey!

I’m 5’8, starting at 93kg, hoping to reach 68kg! Using kgs as I don’t really know what they mean so less stressful than using pounds ha.

Eat as clean as you can!
I had a bacon roll the day before I injected and I was 💩 for 4 days straight! Apparently anything fried and greasy will play havoc with your digestive system and its got to come out one way or the other, sorry to be grim but it is Apparently very common and normal
Buy pepto bismol! It will become your friend
Start a vitamin if you are worried about hair loss, I had about 3 month of hair loss and its finally growing back

I'm a lot smaller than you but I was 93kg and got to 60kg but then my life went tits up as I came off cold turkey and have put on 7kg so I am back on it to shift the extra gained weight and hopefully the better diet habits will stick

Did you have vomiting, too? I've had the most horrendous day of d&v (day 3). I was wondering if it was my body reacting to food I ate the day before the injection, or whether it's just getting used to the medication. I'm second guessing everything; it's so hard to know.

Yes both ends! I was sat in the bath crying my eyes out wondering if I'd made such a bad mistake
I even phoned a&e who told me to drink more and it will pass
Pepto bismol got me through the worst of it
Chances are its a bit of both, especially if you've had something heavy
I will admit it did carry on for 2 days on my second injection but going up doses I never had any issues x

I had a pizza on the Friday night so pretty heavy I guess.
I'm lucky that I wasn't working today and can work remotely some of the time, but today's been so debilitating I'd have to stop if this is my norm. Hopefully it's a short-term side effect.

intentionals · 05/01/2026 19:52

Stomach seems to have calmed down a little. This is now day three without any food so tomorrow, assuming I am not constantly dashing to the bathroom again, I am going to try to eat a bit more. I kind of think that my appetite will come back the closer I get to the second jab which is on Friday?

I have been googling and apparently some people can have loads of initial side effects and then it calms down.

IamSmarticus · 05/01/2026 21:17

Hi everyone,

I've finally bitten the bullet and just taken my first dose of 2.5mg after thinking about it for months! I'm feeling nauseous but that is probably because I am working myself up worrying about potential side affects that I possibly won't even have.

I have been on one diet or another for the last 30 years and am no smaller than when I first started, I am heavier if anything, so something needed to be done. SW, WW, meal replacements etc - you name it, I've tried it at some point. Hopefully this will finally work for me, fingers crossed!

Ocelotfeet27 · 05/01/2026 21:59

Just had my first jab half an hour ago and it wasn't as bad as I thought (though had to get DH to do the actual injection for me, has everyone else managed to do it themselves)? Feeling slightly weird and mild headache but that could be from the anxiety immediately pre injection 😂

Am hoping I dont have the feeling cold side effect as I already have that on a normal day and am under two thick duvets at night, often with a dressing gown and PJs and still feeling cold!

Timing twins - am in the same boat. Here's hoping everyone goes smoothly for us and everyone else!

FrothyCothy · 05/01/2026 22:06

Another who has had first dose of Wegovy, DH also started today. Am really nervous but not sure of what more - side effects or no effects!

blackandwhitefluffycat · 05/01/2026 22:17

I got my DH to do mine too.

I took my first dose on Friday and have still had no side effects other than the desired ones of suppressed appetite and feeling full very quickly. I still can’t believe it, as I never feel full even after a full meal usually!

bookwormcrazy · 05/01/2026 22:45

I decided to bite the bullet and just do the jab today rather than waiting until next week. Hopefully the side effects are minimal. I did chat with a friend today who is a couple of months in, and she didn’t have any side effects at all so fingers crossed.

Boyandgirlanddone · 05/01/2026 23:50

I took my first dose of WG about 2 hours ago. No side effects yet.

Was going to get DH to do it, but then felt brave and did it myself 😂 He advised me not to jab it in, but push it in slowly so as not to startle myself. Seemed to help.
I’m 46, about 13 stone, 5”4. Struggled with weight and food noise my whole life. So hoping this will be the miracle for me that it has been for so many others.

goldylock · 06/01/2026 00:03

I had an appetite by 6pm today. And so made a chicken fajita with 1 chicken breast, 1 carrot, 1 white onion. 1 wrap.1 slice of lf cheese. Small bit of salsa and sour cream.

I feel fine but 5 hours later, at bedtime, I think am going to burst/over full. First lesson of figuring out eating too much with what I would have called a small portion (I'd usually have had 2 wraps).

Boyandgirlanddone · 06/01/2026 00:08

A question for anyone with some experience…do you struggle with energy for going to the gym? I’m a pretty consistent gym goer. I enjoy it and it always makes me feel better. I’d like to make sure that I try and keep to my usual 3 times a week. Is this realistic?

Ralphiesaurus · 06/01/2026 07:18

Finally starting tomorrow. Any tips for what to not eat today to minimise side effects tomorrow? Nervous but also keen to get started… like some others here I have done so many different diet plans over the years. Lost 6st on Lighter Life years ago and have never gone back to my heaviest… but did regain some. Then lost 3st three years ago on SW and then maintained for two years, which was really new for me, and gives me hope that I will be able to maintain after MJ. It just started creeping back on again when I lost control of sugar and white flour… if I stay off them I find it much easier to resist overeating.

anyway… I’m rambling! Looking forward to getting started, and finding everyone’s updates really helpful.

I’ve only been on it since Friday so no experience, but I exercise most days (have done for years) and will be keeping it up!

I haven’t had side effects but I’m afraid I can’t remember what I ate the day before as I didn’t really think about it. Based on what others have said above I probably wouldn’t eat junk food though!

starting or going up a dose tends to be when most people get the worst side effects
