TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 29/11/2025 12:34

Well, some of us are new, some of us are nearly at our goal weight and the rest are still in the trenches.

Everyone is welcome here. This is a safe and supportive space for people with a lot of weight to lose.

Oh, many people definitely go straight in for the "you've lost weight!" comments. It's actually the extended family who have known me for a long time, but not particularly closely, that don't want to address it directly and either do a double take and then try to disguise it, or comment about how "well" I seem. I don't see them that often, last time I had lost about 6 stone. This time it will be 10 ½ stone so I am expecting them to notice, again!

mamabeeboo · 05/12/2025 12:45

5 days exercise this week ticked off 💪
I really like the dripping with sweat feeling, I sometimes dont like rubbing my face in the towel because I want the sweat on me, I feel such a sense of achievement.

I'm also now able to do the high intensity options which I'm so pleased about. I remember when I signed up to Les Mills last year, when I saw the high intensity I almost laughed at how ridiculously hard it looked... But I'm doing it.

(fingers crossed all goes well with my late meal tonight, I have a plan for what I'm eating and drinking - white wine with diet lemonade, burger no bun and veg).

mamabeeboo · 05/12/2025 12:46

P.S - I have also never talked about weight so much in my life, as I have done in the last 6 weeks. It's actually exhausting.

Fffreeeeezing · 05/12/2025 10:56

@GnomeDePlumeI'd love to be in that project meeting although I think it'd be very different to yours @Billybingbong

Heart: ooh I'm enjoying this, everything's good

liver: all good here too

kidneys: well I'm bloody exhausted, I'm doing overtime coping with all that extra water she keeps drinking

skin: WTF

brain: I don't know what has happened, where I am or what day of the week it is, I'm confused, also exhausted. And who is that person in the mirror?

@GnomeDePlume @Billybingbong The project management posts are making me laugh, and I'd like to add mine:

Muscles: exceeding expectations and carrying the whole project
Stomach: Doesn't know what's happening or who's in charge. Will unmute zoom call to say "nothing on my end".
Heart: trying to keep up with the quick-moving projects
Hair: now on a performance improvement plan
Skin: Uncontactable. Appearing offline and only getting out of office responses.

TragicMuse · 05/12/2025 13:40

Project team updates…

Skin: Way over budget. Neck is a slight concern, but the maintenance programme seems to be going ok. We’re planning to submit a budget adjustment after New Year, if Christmas goes well.

Legs: oh we’ve been on a roll ever since the personal stylist said we were ‘good’! Long boots are back in play, look, ziiiiiip, ziiiiiip.

Bum: ow. Ow ow ow. This update is brought to you by the words boney and hurty. We’re considering a cushion. That coccyx ain’t gonna pad itself...

Brain? Are you there?

Brain is having a short nap…

AlicesMum2025 · 05/12/2025 13:49

I'm loving all the exercise messages. I'm so glad that I started, even though I was worried I wouldn't be able to do it and/or I'd make a tit of myself. But now, strength training x3 weekly has become non-negotiable and I do 5-6 classes at the leisure centre each week on top too. I've never had more energy.

While exercise plays a small role in weight loss, I think it's huge in body composition. Since I started MJ, I've lost 43% body fat but GAINED 20% muscle mass. So, combined with a high protein diet, I'm so far managing to buck the trend of losing muscle as well as fat when on WLIs. I know it might not be the same for everyone, but ultimately my desire not to lose muscle, as I'd read about as a risk from multiple sources, is what drove me to start strength training in the first instance, and it does seem to have made an impact.

I've also seen big improvements in my heart rate recovery and cardio fitness, as per Apple watch and heart rate monitor, so I'm getting fitter as well as stronger and slimmer.

Sorry for the long post, but I wholly endorse some form of exercise as soon as you're able. I had to lose weight before I could start as I had too much strain on my joints, and I realise that medical conditions may also need to be considered, however if you can add some form of movement to your day you may see the benefits both on and off the scales ♥️

AlicesMum2025 · 05/12/2025 14:02

Project team progress report:.

Skin - we have too much stock. We need to wrangle the excess and put it into storage somewhere, however the knickers keep falling down and none of the other clothes fit either.

Stomach - opposite problem over here. We've got loads of empty space so we're just kind of hanging out doing our own thing. We've been meeting up with boobs though, and we're considering a merger since they keep encroaching into our zone.

Elbows - thanks for inviting us to join the team. We didn't know we were part of it until skin told us that they were going to shift some of their excess stock to us. Now our stock is sliding down and we didn't know that was possible

Thighs - no change, still red and itchy at injection site and not able to find a way to improve.

Brain - at capacity. Between thinking about how long it will take to get to the next mini-target and exercise metrics, we've decided to close our work package until further notice

AlicesMum2025 · 05/12/2025 14:08

You guys! I am just bursting to tell people that will understand what I mean when I say... I'M ON THE CHART!!!!!!!

My BMI was 54.1 when I started MJ 🙈 so, although I have a long way to go to a healthy BMI, I'm absolutely taking this as a win 🎉

Around about now there are lots of milestones. 🤞 I can tick them off before the end of the year

✅ 25% starting body weight lost
✅ BMI <40
🤞 50% of target loss
🤞 <100kg

NSV - I now fit into 1X/XXL Fabletics leggings, having started at 4X.

Unwelcome NSV - I now have the beginnings of saggy skin on my elbows and knees! Seriously, when I look in the mirror there's a little saggy bit of skin from my upper arms starting to slide down to my elbow, and the same from my thighs down to my knees. I was prepared for bingo wings, turkey neck and jiggly belly (all of which I have) but this was very unexpected 🤣. Hopefully it'll eventually shrink and then the rest I could try to fill out with muscle 💪

Billybingbong · 05/12/2025 15:35

Brilliant news @AlicesMum2025 , well done. I'm hoping to join you soon, my BMI is 40.8 now, down from 56 🤞 x

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 05/12/2025 15:39

Anyone else seen the thread where the OP is moaning about being 5' 9" and weighing 9st 5lb?

FFS!!!!!

Billybingbong · 05/12/2025 15:54

Yep. I tend to skim over those types of threads, because I can't trust myself not to post something that would get me banned. Feckin idiots 🫩

flipent · 05/12/2025 15:54

Yes @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne Stopped reading as either it was a humble brag or they have some kind of body dysmorphia.

SilenceInside · 05/12/2025 16:00

Oh that’s a brilliant milestone to reach @AlicesMum2025 well done!

PearlTeapot · 05/12/2025 18:39

@AlicesMum2025 CRUSHING IT!!!! Keep going!

Loving the body chats.

My only contribution would be:

everyone- anyone seen boobs recently? she's been offline for a while?

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 05/12/2025 22:18

Gone slightly off track the last couple of days with some nights out - last night a bottle of wine led to a dessert and about 500 calories more than my target, which wouldn't be too bad except it seems to have then led to much more hunger and much less willpower today - a burger and chips and about 10 quality streets later I am not looking forward to the scales tomorrow 🙈

We have to live in the real world. Things like this happen. So long as you get back to the plan today no harm will be done. Enjoy yourself a bit, it might even surprise you metabolism into a furnace for a bit.

eibbed999 · 06/12/2025 07:52

Went out for a family Christmas meal last night, saved myself for it all day and didn't stint 3 delicious courses, half a bottle of bubbly and Bailey's to finish. Got on the scales this morning scared to look after all my complaining yesterday, and I'd finally dropped that pesky pound . I've no idea how the science of it all works, maybe there's some truth to calorie zig-zagging? Anyway, that finally means I've hit 5 stone lost, and I'm now 16 at 13!! Now begins the battle to stay there or go further down...

PearlTeapot · 06/12/2025 09:08

Calorie zig zagging works for me (as I've said before I go way over my budget on a Sunday) but also bodies are just weird!!

@RenegadeKeeblerElf and @eibbed999 life is for living and I hope you both had a great time.

GnomeDePlume · 06/12/2025 09:46

Well done @AlicesMum2025 , great achievement.

Loving the project managent reports. My project team have reported back:

STOMACH: operating comfortably at much lower capacity now
BOWELS: <yawn> seem to have a bit of a backlog and cant get things moving
BLOOD: <looks nervous> things keep changing I dont know what to do!
BRAIN: OOO

Bodies are indeed weird! Hope you're doing well @PearlTeapot xx

mamabeeboo · 06/12/2025 09:50

Reporting back after yesterday's dinner last night. I was doing well all day, ate well and exercised.

Dinner - I had white wine and diet lemonade.
Soup, slow cooked beef and half a sticky toffee pud.
Lost 1 lb today 😁

All my best friend said to me was "every time I see you, you're looking better and better". I really appreciated that.

I did thank you, and even though I was over my calorie allowance, I was still well within maintenance calories so no major damage done. Last night was jab night so right back on it today, and still managed a 0.2kg loss (probably would have been more but I'm probably retaining some water due to the carby meals). Also went to parkrun for the first time in months, only managed 2 of the 4 laps but running with other people really improved my speed so I'm feeling great!

Mum2Fergus · 06/12/2025 10:07

Scales goosed so can’t weigh in til they arrive tomorrow. In the meantime though….

What are our top tips/plans to get through the festive period?

Ive come to realise that it’s only me that likes a mince pie…box of 6 still in cupboard, 2 down, 4 to go.

Bought my favourite tipple which I’ve had to put away as just the sight of the bottle is making me queasy.

Dinner will be 2 courses maximum with a good hour in between.

UsernameShmusername2024 · 06/12/2025 10:32

@Mum2Fergus I've been thinking a lot about xmas - I started MJ in Feb so this is my first on it. Only my DP and one friend know I'm taking it, definitely don't want to broadcast it so have also been thinking about how to hide my pen in the fridge as we have family staying for a week who will obviously be helping themselves to things. Did consider a mini fridge for our bedroom but have settled on putting it in a tomato puree box at the back of the salad draw as not sure anyone will be that interested in that!

In terms of eating, the fact that we have family staying means that I fully expect to eat very differently to how I would at christmas if it was only us - lots more bread I expect as well as all the Xmas food. I think my strategy will be to eat less rather than trying to avoid things as I don't want to be eating differently from everyone else. Christmas dinner we always just have the main and Xmas pudding - I'll be dishing up so will put out a smaller portion than normal and stop when I'm full, think that'll be easier to manage that all the other meals somehow.

I've had a sudden surge in suppression the last week or so - have been on 10mg for months with the effects gradually wearing off but not enough that I'd stopped losing and suddenly I'm SO full from the smallest meals, actually struggling to eat which I haven't had since the first month of so! Very unexpected! Thurs eve is when I jab and will stick to this so due to jab on Xmas day night which hopefully means I'll enjoy food on Xmas day! I am looking forward to starting January not having gained half a stone although equally I do expect to gain and that doesn't worry me at all which is so refreshing!

Interested to hear how others are approaching Xmas especially if you're entertaining a lot 😊
