I'm loving all the exercise messages. I'm so glad that I started, even though I was worried I wouldn't be able to do it and/or I'd make a tit of myself. But now, strength training x3 weekly has become non-negotiable and I do 5-6 classes at the leisure centre each week on top too. I've never had more energy.
While exercise plays a small role in weight loss, I think it's huge in body composition. Since I started MJ, I've lost 43% body fat but GAINED 20% muscle mass. So, combined with a high protein diet, I'm so far managing to buck the trend of losing muscle as well as fat when on WLIs. I know it might not be the same for everyone, but ultimately my desire not to lose muscle, as I'd read about as a risk from multiple sources, is what drove me to start strength training in the first instance, and it does seem to have made an impact.
I've also seen big improvements in my heart rate recovery and cardio fitness, as per Apple watch and heart rate monitor, so I'm getting fitter as well as stronger and slimmer.
Sorry for the long post, but I wholly endorse some form of exercise as soon as you're able. I had to lose weight before I could start as I had too much strain on my joints, and I realise that medical conditions may also need to be considered, however if you can add some form of movement to your day you may see the benefits both on and off the scales ♥️
