Well, some of us are new, some of us are nearly at our goal weight and the rest are still in the trenches.

Everyone is welcome here. This is a safe and supportive space for people with a lot of weight to lose.

@Mum2Fergus I'm so sorry for the loss of your DSis, it must be a very challenging time for you at the moment. What a huge shock for you. Flowers

TragicMuse · 31/12/2025 18:02

I’m so sorry for your loss @Mum2Fergus what a hard thing for you all, in so many complicated ways.

I had an unfortunate reminder yesterday of why I’m on this journey…my Dsis passed away unexpectedly. She was only 5yrs older than me and had struggled with her weight her whole life. One of the reasons she couldn’t undergo the emergency surgery was her weight-it brought significant disadvantages…so she opted to not undergo it.

Unofficial weigh in today given its last day of the year and my Christmas gain is back off again. Hopefully it lasts til Saturday and proper weight in. Bought lots of salad stuff today so with exception of NY day dinner (steak pie) then I’m back to OMAD for 2026.

3st 5lbs to get me to target. If I can do that by summer holidays then I can potentially look at my planned surgery during the October break.

Happy New Year when it comes losers…catch up with you all next year.

Oh no! I'm very sorry for the loss of your sister.😥

Billybingbong · 31/12/2025 18:17

So sorry to hear of your loss @Mum2Fergus . I'm thinking of you at this difficult time x

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 31/12/2025 18:28

I'm so sorry for your loss @Mum2Fergus , it really does bring it home doesn't it, that for us it isn't just about dropping a few pounds to look better in tight jeans, this is really vital for our health and wellbeing. Hope you and all her family are able to support each other through such a difficult time 💐

Billybingbong · 31/12/2025 18:48

Wishing all my loser friends a lovely evening, whatever your plans, and a very happy New Year. We've never been huge fans, and have come away for a few days for a quiet one, leaving the partying for the younger ones!

I can hardly believe I am ending the year six stone lighter and 4 dress sizes smaller. My life feels transformed, I am living it, not just existing. My resolution this year is to reach my goal weight, and for the first time ever, I really feel like I will do it.

Whatever stage you are at, I hope the New Year gets you where you want to be. And for those of you who haven't had the best of years, I hope 2026 is a better one for you. Much love to you all ❤️

MummyInTheNecropolis · 31/12/2025 18:53

I’m so sorry for your loss @Mum2Fergus such sad news. Take care of yourself Flowers

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 31/12/2025 19:48

Oh @Mum2Fergus so very sorry for your loss 💐.

Well done everyone for this year. However it's looked for you - it's a real Journey isn't it and we should all be so proud of how far we've come, whatever the loss or however far we have to go. Whether the future looks like losing more weight or learning how to break the all or nothing or "diet mentality" and eating well for health or finding out what clothes suit the new body or working on exercise routines.

I'm excited to see what 2026 brings for us all and how we progress further.

PearlTeapot · 31/12/2025 19:53

@canaritini what fabulous pictures, I am so happy for you that you can see the joy of movement in the second picture. Well done to you!

@Mum2Fergus I'm so sorry for your loss. What a wake up call for us all. Sending you a lot of love across the internet.

PearlTeapot · 31/12/2025 19:56

Well I'm ending the year over 4 stone lighter, 6 stone since Aug 24 when I started my weight loss journey. My only regret is not giving mounjaro a go sooner.

From busting out of my size 24s (tops) last christmas to comfortable 18s now. BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY I couldn't walk more than 5-10 mins absolute max without drowning in sweat and pain, and now I can walk an hour without stopping. (Or I could before hospital. Will be needing to build this up again!). That's been life changing for me.

Thank you for this thread. I was always scared of MN but I feel we're real friends here and I really care about and root for you all, always.

@Mum2Fergus no words, just compassion

I'm reflecting back on this last year, a whole calendar year from 1st Jan 2025 to 31st Dec 2025 on Mounjaro.

Last Christmas, it was the first one on Mounjaro and I had lost a significant amount of weight in the 6 months since starting at the beginning of July 2024. Just over 6st, so I started 2025 at about 15st 8lbs, with a BMI of 36. I was thrilled to be wearing size 18 clothes and to be in the Class 1 obese range. It still felt very distant to be able to move out of obese and head towards a healthy weight though.

Fast forward to today. I now weigh 11st 3lbs or so, and my BMI is now 25.8. A tiny smidge overweight. So that's another 4 stone plus or so gone. I'm wearing 12 to 14 clothes - I'm a bit pear shaped (or just a bit flat chested now!), so 12 tops in some shops and generally 14s in trousers or fitted dresses.

It's been a revelation of a year. The impact on my health is not possible to underestimate. I am fit, strong and healthy. My blood pressure has improved massively. I'm still medicated for it, as it has always been high, even in the past when I was fat but not yet obese - it runs in my family unfortunately. But, my medication has not had to be increased and at my last review it was optimal to normal, rather than high normal to high. I have a tiny small hope that my medication might eventually be reduced or possibly even stopped, if I can get down further into the healthy range.

Best wishes for the New Year to everyone on this thread, and I hope we all continue to head towards our goals and achieve what we hope to achieve.

Mum2Fergus · 01/01/2026 10:23

Thank you everyone for your kind words on the loss of my Dsis. It’s still a bit of a blur. It being the holidays everything is in a bit of limbo, but hopefully we can get on with arrangements soon.

Doggymummar · 01/01/2026 21:52

@MummyInTheNecropolis I saw your other posts, I do hope you are ok

MummyInTheNecropolis · 01/01/2026 22:30

Thank you @Doggymummar I posted without thinking and then realised how outing it could be and worried about him seeing it or it affecting any legal proceedings so had it removed. All is ok for now.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 01/01/2026 22:31

Just in case anyone’s wondering, it was a thread about my daughter and a DV situation. She is safe for now.

Oh my goodness,I'm so very sorry to hear this .that's just awful.i hope you are taking care of yourself and being kind to yourself

Lds1 · 02/01/2026 09:06

@Mum2Fergus I'm really sorry to hear about your sister

@MummyInTheNecropolis I hope your daughter is ok

I had my usual weigh yesterday, thankfully nothing too dramatic 0.1kg on which is less than half a lb. That's less than I put on last year and I was eating more relaxed this year. I'll be back on track this week I should think, except a meal at the weekend but I've already checked the menu and there's a couple of not too bad options.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 02/01/2026 10:11

Thank you @Lds1

i had my first official post Christmas weigh in today - skipped last week as it was Boxing Day and I was still in Christmas eating mode! Anyway, I’ve stayed the same which is amazing. Very happy about it, I had my last 10mg jab this week and will be starting 7.5 from next week as I begin to titrate down.

Onenotsosmallstep · 02/01/2026 15:31

Sad to hear of family challenges and sending love and strength to all those who need it.

Friends, I have news! I have just completed the second run of couch to 5k. I have never ever been brave enough to try running before. I hate exercise but feel so good and energised afterwards. I may be snail paced but can’t believe I’ve done this.

First official weigh in of the year and have ‘gained’ 8.5lbs over the last two weeks. I’m sure at least half is water weight but don’t feel as fed up as I usually would as I’m only back to where I was at the end of November and with mj to support efforts have no doubt it’ll be gone in a few weeks. Upped my dose from 11.25mg I’ve been on for last 8 weeks to 12.5mg in hopes of a bit of a boost. Also planning a dry January after only having had 2 days in this last fortnight with no alcohol 🤦‍♀️.

Lovinglifeand · 02/01/2026 18:13

Just weighed in ready to be focused and back on diet and I've only put on a couple of pounds over Christmas, phew! I normally put a stone on over Christmas, very grateful to be taking MJ and for the subsequent smaller gain. I lost 4 stone last year (started August) and I'm planning to lose 5 this year which is unbelievably exciting!!!!
Going to increase my dose to 5mg next week and then full steam ahead!

Woo hoo to the C25K! It's such a fab programme, I've done it loads of times and always enjoy it. Currently on week 8 and gutted that my local parkrun is cancelled tomorrow due to weather as I had planned to give it a go 😥

That’s inspiring! My local one is very hilly and I know a lot of the volunteer team so will have to get significantly better than my current shuffling along the canal 😂.

Don't worry about speed for parkrun - as long as you can complete the 5k whether walking or running (or even if you can't - a few weeks ago I did two laps then dropped out and still got a buzz from it!) you'll be welcome.

SilenceInside · 02/01/2026 21:02

I signed up to ParkRun but haven’t yet done one. I am also aware that I’m not particularly quick and worry about being the last finisher or a straggler. Which would be mortifying for me and not something that would encourage me to do it again. I’d need to be in the bulk of people I think, and the times people seem to do at the ones local to me all seem quite a bit quicker than me. I’ll need to work up to it! But it is a goal to do one this year, hopefully more than one, but I’ll start with that.

I really want to get back to my normal work, school run, etc routine and out of holiday mode. I still feel a bit all over the place with eating, and it feels a bit unnerving.
