Well, some of us are new, some of us are nearly at our goal weight and the rest are still in the trenches.

Everyone is welcome here. This is a safe and supportive space for people with a lot of weight to lose.

@MummyInTheNecropolis That to me sounds ideal in terms of what's "healthy" to me. Freedom to enjoy a celebration with no worry but then awareness of body feedback after and no guilt. That's amazing ❤️.

Im curious about clothes too. I can't even begin to imagine size 10!

I started in Jan at size 26 (prob 28)andnwors the same stretchy jersey seasalt dresses (some of which were size 24 and jyst stretched) for what felt like forever. It was certainly months before any real visual different as I just still registered visually as "very morbidly obese)

Around June I think I bought some size 20 buts for summer. (which are now too big!)

September ish I bought some size 18 - but this is seasalt so probably 20 elsewhere.

November size 16 seasalt (but size 18 n white stuff and yours leggings so if it was a real shop again probably size 20).

My stomach is still prominent so my top half is slimmer than my stomach.

I'm half a stone away from not being obese. Then 2 stone from healthy... So it is in sight (although aware weight loss is starting to slow down now from what it was).

I have been really curious with the last 3 stone how it will work and when I can wear a standard 14 in a normal shop! I'm aware my goal of "healthy" would be top of normal bmi so won't in any way be slim. I'm hoping size 14then though.

For now I'm looking forwards to size 16 I a standard shop and being able to shop with ease!

I think you will be surprised re sizing. I'm an 8 or 10 now and still not a healthy weight. I have 10lb to go to bmi 25 and ideally would like to be 20 to 22 which is 2.5 stone. I dont expect to fit a smaller clothes size tho, just to be less squishy.

AmberLime · 27/12/2025 08:11

I fund tracking my measurements gives me a realistic idea of changing dress sizes.

I didn't record my measurements upon starting but began 4 weeks in, and every 4 weeks since. Today was a tape measure day, so changes have been:

[Under Bust] [Bellybutton] [Widest part of my overhang]:
42 48 52
40 46 49
40 46 48
39 44 46
37 42 44

36 41 43

I over-ate on Christmas day. So much so that I was physically sick at one point, my stomach just couodnt hold the volume of food. What was different this year is that I only ate healthy stuff (I've had no chocolate etc) but way too much of it.

I had a water-fast day yesterday, with loads of health powders added throughout the day (electrolytes, creatine, collagen) and felt much better for it.

Overall 1lb up from last Saturday.

AmberLime · 27/12/2025 08:14

At 5ft 4, I have previously lost (and regained) 8st and found I was size 10 while still in an overweight BMI. I remember how mindblowing it felt to realise that a Size 14 is likely to be bordering on obese and size 12 will definitely be overweight. These felt like "very slim" sizes to Big Me.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 27/12/2025 08:32

Wow that's really interesting re sizes!

I'm 5ft6 so top of healthy bmi is about 11 stone.

I guess last time I was near that was 20 years ago and sizes have probably changed since then 😳.
Id secretly love to be under so that "with clothes" at the GP Im still healthy bmi...

I'm worried how my belly/overhang will look. I think it's the area I will have most issue with. I have hanging skin on my upper arms but feel less self conscious about that /I can cover them.

GnomeDePlume · 27/12/2025 08:57

Morning!

I dont know about anyone else but having not gone wild for Christmas, I'm not dreading the New Year reckoning. This used to be a feature for me. My year used to look like this:

  • new year diet starting late because of January birthdays. Already on the back foot and feeling defeated.
  • late winter, is it worth starting to diet because it will soon be Valentines?
  • spring, diet but there is such a long way to go.
  • summer barbecues - repeatedly falling off the diet and finding it harder and harder to get back on.
  • September birthdays - takeaways, cake, more time off the diet than on.
  • Autumn, is it worth dieting now because Christmas is round the corner?
  • Early winter, slice of fruitcake with every hot drink, mince pies, hearty stodgy winter food. Baked potatoes with lots of butter.
  • Christmas, no brakes, big dinners, puddings, chocolates, cheese.

This year on mounjaro has felt so different. I have still enjoyed food but it has felt so much less central to everything. Big Christmas dinner but overall much less food focus. We havent even opened the Christmas chocolates.

DH is enjoying the 'mounjaro bonus'. He is enjoying eating much less. I'm sure we used to just give each the excuse to eat far too much.

So here's to another year to come on mounjaro!

mamabeeboo · 27/12/2025 09:46

@GnomeDePlume I can completely relate to all the excuses. If it's not birthdays, it's Easter, Christmas, holiday, mother's day, cinema trip , work trip, Friday, dinner with friends, finale of The Traitors.... I look back and question myself at how much I actually wanted to lose weight. But I know it's just because I didn't know anything else.

Complete agreement to food being central to everything. Going out with DH or friends or anything social always circulated food, and I'm very much an extrovert so I thought there was a choice between having a social life and being slim, as if I couldn't have both.

MJ has taught me there is so much more to life than food. Food is fuel. (I say this as I scoffed a full lindt santa Claus yesterday 😂)

Billybingbong · 27/12/2025 09:46

Morning all, hope you've all had a wonderful Christmas. We've had a lovely couple of days, family, fun and (far too much) food. Family have all gone home now, and I've packed them off with the last of the treats, so today is a bit of a reset day. That said, we're both off work until New Year, so we've decided to take ourselves away for a few days. Just us, the dogs, and tons of long country walks. I'm hoping that should shed the, ahem, 4lb I seem to have gained this week 😵‍💫.

My healthy/target BMI is 11st too…3st 4lbs to go!

My overhang is already quite bad and in all honesty is the reason for my MJ journey. Two c-sections and a hysterectomy have left that area looking quite horrific to my eyes. So I’m opting for surgery to remove it…and healthy BMI is a prerequisite.

Lds1 · 27/12/2025 10:05

I weighed today and still weigh the same as I did on Thursday, i expect the eating will catch up with me at some point this week though.

@Mum2Fergus have you chosen somewhere to go for your surgery? It's something I'm considering but I've no idea where to start.

LegoEmergency · 27/12/2025 10:14

Hi Everyone, not been on for a while but wanted some advice please. I skipped a jab to just enjoy some food and drink at Christmas and I wanted to take my next jab tomorrow which will be two weeks after the previous one.

My last jab was 6.25mg. I haven’t ever had bad side effects. Do you think I should just jab the full 6.25? Or do I need to do a bit less?

(I’ve lost 4 stone so far in 6 months, but I haven’t weighed in the last week to see what I’ve put on. I know it will come back off soon enough though.)

PearlTeapot · 27/12/2025 10:28

I'd just do your usual jab, it's only one week and I'm sure that'll be fine. Well done on your 4 stone!

No more junk for me. So many of the staff bought me boxes of Lindts etc which is very sweet so I don't feel like I can give them away since they bought them for me so I need to be disciplined, keep them in my drawer and try to only have one a day. I got pistachio ones which are amazing and salted caramel and hazelnut ones too.

It seems the advice is mixed these days, some suppliers seem to say to just carry on with the usual dose, others say to go back to the lowest dose. I'd have a look at what your supplier says.

Mum2Fergus · 27/12/2025 11:02

I’ve just been looking at local (to me) Spire Healthcare hospital. Their website is very informative on the subject and shows you the profiles of surgeons you can choose from. I’m aiming on arranging initial consultation once I get nearer healthy BMI.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 27/12/2025 11:45

Those "putting on weight" over Xmas remember it's highly unlikely to be real Weight. Often it's waterweight or fluid or even pop from eating differently to usual.

My overhang is awful. If I lie in bed I can grab just whole fistfulls of stomach and move it around and it fully covers my public area.

We won't ever afford surgery unfortunately but I'd so do it if I could! I'm hoping it will be less awful with another 3 stone off.. But I'm guessing it will be more like loose skin than loose far... 😳. I keep trying to tell myself it's better than being so unhealthy and unwell.

I will have draping skin on my thighs as I already do too. I'm not one of those that will look good after...

But hey ho.

Fffreeeeezing · 27/12/2025 11:48

Week 41 weigh in today and 4lb off which I think we'll call a win! Edging ever closer to that 40bmi and not long til I'm in the 17 stones.

I had my Christmas day yesterday (had homemade lasagna and garlic bread on actual Christmas Day, we rearrange most years due to family logistics) but stuck to a good deficit on the all the days previous. Ate everything I wanted to but luckily Christmas food is not my thing, even roasts aren't on my top foods list. Had turkey, homemade stuffing, carrots, red cabbage and roast sweet potatoes and a few pigs in blankets and 2 spoonfuls of a chocolatey dessert and I was done!

11 weeks to my first MJ year anniversary and mini targets are:

BMI of less than 40, 15lb to go

9 stone loss, 22lb to go which feels achievable ish

Be under 100kg, 35lb/2.5 stone away (this one won't be achievable by 14th March I realise unless I lose a limb which I'm not overly keen on)

Happy New Year to all my fellow losers, may 2026 be full of good health and achieving all that we want be that weight loss, fitness or happiness or all three for some!

Wow freezing what an incredible year you've had. I'm in awe of how much you've lost and that you're still losing so much - 4lb in a week! - this far in ❤️. Well done.

Fffreeeeezing · 27/12/2025 12:33

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden aw thank you, we've all had an amazing year and I read everyone's posts everyday for inspiration. Onwards and downwards for us all!

mamabeeboo · 27/12/2025 12:56

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I was looking at the surgery route and they actually do finance plans. I feel like I've gone too far and lost too much weight to still dislike my body.
The only thing is, I have heard to maintain your weight for at least a year or so, to make sure you're not gaining any back before surgery, I think that's the harder ask 😑

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 27/12/2025 13:18

Well done 😊. And yes I'd so do it if I could too. It would make so much difference. We've got kids going to uni I'm not sure how well afford it....so many things where we've been lower income for too long but maybe eventually 🤞

TragicMuse · 27/12/2025 14:58

Oh it’s Saturday!

Week 43, 7.5mg

SW 19st 4lbs (Jan 2025, pre-MJ)
SW on MJ 18st 11.5lbs (1 Mar 2025)
CW 13st 6lbs
Change this week -0.5lbs
Total loss 82lbs

I’ll take that!

We’ve been out shopping. In a normal shop! I tried on a jumper. Tried the XL. But it was a bit too baggy. So I tried the L. Also not quite right.

Friends, I tried a M and it’s just right. It’s got design bagginess but isn’t massive - it’s not stretched out and it’s not clingy. It’s just…normal.

I am skirting around a 16 or so at the moment, I never expected that to mean a medium!

And it was half price! What a result!

SilenceInside · 27/12/2025 15:11

Well done to everyone over the Christmas period, whatever sort of time you’ve been having. We’re all getting there.

I have sort of completely ducked away from everything weight loss related over the last week or so. Other than doing my injection as normal. I haven’t been weighing and I haven’t really been thinking about what I’m eating. I have definitley eaten waaaaay more than I have over the last 18 months. Not as much as I would have before Mounjaro to be fair. I need to get back on it and wrestle back some calm and control. The idea of weighing makes me feel a bit panicked, but I need to do it to see what the damage is and to move forwards. I think I will do a weigh in on my normal day of Friday, so next week, and then go from there. Between now and then I will get back on it. I can feel the draw of sugar and of snacking, which has featured this last week, so that needs to stop. I feel like I have enough Mounjaro-driven willpower to step away from that though. I hope I’m right.

GnomeDePlume · 27/12/2025 16:00

NSV. I am starting a jacket I have made before. The last time I made it I was a size 32 and had to extend the pattern. Now I am making it as a size 22.
