A cautionary tale....... (with a caveat that everyone has a completely different 'journey' on MJ)...

Titrated down, came off MJ end of October, ok for first month then, bam, took my focus off for a mere nanosecond and between now and then put on just over a stone 😧 taking me back to 'overweight' BMI as I'm only 5 foot. I still maintained my previously learned good habits, but the food (and alcohol) noise was both deafening and intolerable.

Very disappointed in myself, naively thought that when titrating down as there was only a tiny amount of MJ in my system that I was doing the heavy lifting and the drug was having little effect. How wrong I was.

Plan of action:

  • Keep up with the non UPF protein/fibre rich, low carb food
  • Maintain current exercise plan
  • Stay on 2.5mg until back at goal and then for the foreseeable
  • Possibly micro dose at 1.25mg after that?

Thankfully, I've responded incredibly well to re-taking it, injected Saturday afternoon and within the hour I had the familiar dry mouth, and no interest in snacking or wine. The next day my inflammation was gone (usually have swollen fingers/toes in the mornings).

So 6 days in and despite eating three (albeit smaller) meals a day - I've lost 10 pounds!!! 🤷 Call it witchcraft or magic, but my goodness, the effect it seems to have on my body is just amazing. Also, how much water retention can one short person have? 🤣

Included my graph from Monitor Your Weight just so you can see the ridiculousness of the weight loss, then gain.

Kudos to those who are maintaining successfully on their own after coming off. But I've come to the realisation that, much like childbirth, I am happy to accept medical intervention as there are just some things that I cannot manage alone.

Thanks for sharing @MontyJinks and good for you for getting back on it.

I've been logging food which means I've gone back to better eating after Christmas. As my back is feeling better I'm also exercising again after stopping for a couple of months. And unsurprising I guess but I'm suddenly really hungry! Even woken up a couple of times at 4am wanting food.

So I've been eating more, but trying not to eat rubbish at least, and hopefully it will all stabilise. Trying to have protein but have also been having a fair bit of cereal, pasta and bread. Feel like it's better to keep the exercise going.

I can’t see me ever being completely off mj. I feel this is going to be my future.
I can’t bear the thought of going back to where I was and I tried so many times over the years unsuccessfully on my own.
having posted here I’ve been eating a lot better. Put on a pound and hoping to get to and stay at 9 stone.

Having cordial in my water to try force myself to increase the fluids.

Does anyone else really struggle with fluid? I have to force myself to drink water.

I’m interested in the new weight loss pills being developed - perhaps there will be a cheaper, lower dose option available in time which can be used for maintenance. Hoping so anyhoo!

I had gotten a lot better at drinking water but have become a bit rubbish again. I seem to be able to drink coffee and wine just fine though so I need to sort myself out and get back into it!

@Mounjaropen Can I be cheeky and ask how much you gained over Christmas? Just because we're very similar height and weight. I gained 4lb and to be honest I've not even weighed myself for 3 weeks, but certainly feels like it's still there (clothes still fit but a little tight). I'll have to put my big girl pants on and weigh myself tomorrow.

I'm pleased that I'm eating nutritious foods (a year ago I'd have popped to the supermarket for some choc, now I'm like 'hmmm I really fancy some broccoli... Ok lets give in to this craving!) but feel I should inject 5mg weekly for a few weeks to get over this increased hunger slump. (Previously I did 7.5mg every 2-3 weeks after reaching 9 1/2 st in September)

This time of the year is so hard, isn't it? It's cold out and often rainy, and it's cosy indoors, so all I want to do lately is stay under my really dense and warm duvet and drink endless cups of lovely black tea. The bf doesn't like prolonged periods outside when it's cold, so spending the entire weekend indoors is easy. That's usually so not me...

My physique is going a bit 'skinny fat' and I'll have to really get back into regular exercise and get those walks in.

Yes I know, 'no bad weather' and all, but being thinner, it feels much colder when it's cold! I'm permanently wearing gloves.

No problem - think I’ve mentioned it more than once 😂 I’m at 136lbs this morning (after my rose wine binge last night 😉) so about 2lbs off the Xmas weight I put on and 4lbs up on my wedding weight.

I’m also skinny fat! Objectively, I could tone up and look good at 126lbs without looking haggard. The Pvolve has 💯 made my thighs slimmer and my stomach flatter so I’m going to lean into that. Toning up is my only hope of my skin looking less saggy on the thighs and tummy… at least I’m enjoying the exercise and also the broccoli!

Just make water a habit. Before you eat, have a large glass. Before you exercise have a large glass then again after you finish. Stripe the glass of wine with one glass of water. Before you know it, you’ll be up to 2-3l per day. 💪

I think it’s just a necessary evil tbh. Hydration is key to excellent skin so I think of it as a beauty hack too. And I’m vain 😂

Happy weekend Team Skinny!

I jabbed this morning and cursed my optimistic past self who ordered 7.5mg pens 😭 I'm too scared to tapering down to 7.5mg after all the eating I've been doing on 10mg recently, so I counted clicks to give myself a 10mg dose out of a 7.5mg pen. I'm not in the right head space to taper down yet - I need a couple of weeks of better eating and control under my belt first. Weird how I managed to cope no problem at all when I delayed my jab for Christmas week and got down to 2mg in my system according to Shotsy, but it seems I've been making up for it ever since! I want to blame the freezing temperatures for making my ravenous but if I'm being honest with myself I know it's because I've let too many UPFs creep in and have neglected water completely!

BUT I've just booked my flights for a girls weekend away in the sunshine, so I've been shopping for bikinis! We didnt have a sunshine holiday last year, so this is my first opportunity to replenish my hot weather wardrobe. Eeek! I'm rather excited to waft around in a bikini and a kaftan for a few days without chub rub! If anyone has any beach wear recommendations please share!

I'm really feeling the cold @lindtcurves ! I used to sleep in a thin vest and shorts - anything heavier and I would roast, no matter the time of year. Now I'm in fluffy socks, long sleeves and full length PJ bottoms with hot water bottle and extra blankets! During the day I cannot be parted from my Uniqlo thermal layers and am permanently cuddling a hot drink

Thanks @SerenePeer everyone is different though, and there are sooooooo many positive stories from other maintainers who have come off and are still at a healthy weight.

I'd almost forgotten how powerful a drug it really is, my food noise went in an instant. It's really good to be back on it and just feel like what a 'normal' person must feel with regards to food once more.

Keep on keeping on everyone 💪

I know!! I live in cashmere jumpers and stand next to radiators. Used to laugh at the skinny Italian girls at work always being cold, now I’m one of them 🤣

jay55 · 18/01/2026 20:43

I still weigh more than most of you but am also feeling the cold this year and find it hard to regulate my temperature.

When I got back from holiday I was up to 85kg, from a low of 79.5 although I’d been bouncing between 79 and 82 before I went away.
I didn’t jab first week back as I was dehydrated and retaining water from the flight, had my period and a stomach upset and as mentioned before jet lag/insomnia.
3kg disappeared. Whoop that was the water retention sorted.

Jabbed 10mg Monday, was hungry/snacky until Thursday.
Thursday night had a couple of toxic burps, Friday was full on full of wind, but also appetite was gone, food noise zapped and snacks forgotten. Same yesterday.

Today back to 79.5kg and wind under control, not much appetite.

Am delighted.
8.5 weeks until my next holiday. Really want to be below 75 by then.

Morning all!

Hmm, seems I still have some way to work on my confidence / self esteem about shops. I’ve been reading your recommendations for Uniqlo products and for some reason instantly discounting it, relegating it to the ‘nothing will fit me there’ bucket. See also H&M and Zara. 😅

I’m sure I’ll be able to find at least something there these days! I’m in Manchester tomorrow with work so I’m going to pop my head in!

Just remember zara sizing is WILD 😂 don’t get put off!

I’ve fallen off the shopping wagon… I had too much wine yesterday so ended up buying workout gear from the peloton website (membership gets you an additional discount) but tbf, 2+pairs of leggings and 3 t shirts came in at under £80 and the quality/washability is excellent. They’re also the items of clothing I wear the most all week.

i also bought a Roksanda dress (NWT) for my bestie’s wedding (size 8! 🤞🏻) on vinted but after my balance was taken into account plus authentication it cost me £100 - which is excellent value for a dress originally costing a grand. I’ve also for the first time made a bid on a pair of Prada heels to go with the dress which are not new but if my offer is accepted would also be a bargain. Fate will decide if they are for me…

Enjoy your day out in Manchester!

Ooh how fabulous! This is absolutely the right time to buy bikinis at the best prices, have a look at brand alley and secret sales etc. I like Freya (they do large nork cup sizes) and panache. I often buy the top on one site, then track down the bottoms elsewhere.

Morning everyone

November 24, I had long naturally curly, bouncy hair.
I would guess 3 months later, my hair started to thin.

I have religiously used Nioxin treatment as I am not a fan of minoxidil. Taken vitamins and 20g of collagen daily.

My hair was a straggly mess and in order for it to be in some sort of style, I have gradually gone shorter and shorter and have now got a short graduated bob.

New hair is growing in, but it’s crazy whisp.

Because my hair is so thin on the top but thick at the sides and back, Everytime I looked in the mirror, I could see my scalp on the top and I looked like I was wearing a 🤡 wig.

So, talking of wigs, I have bought myself a real hair toupee, now known as a topper. I have just had it cut to blend in with my own hair and I have to say, it looks amazing. I am loving it.
