@flametrees that actually sounds a bit dangerous if you are dropping weight so quickly from an already low base. What does your gut tell you about continuing to dose at that level? I’ve loved this thread for supporting us in taking ownership of how we use MJ and seeing the different approaches taken.

quick update from me, this weekend will see me hit the milestone of being off MJ as long as I was on it. 30 weeks both sides. I have maintained my weight and really no-one is as surprised as me as I spent a lot of time worrying about what would happen when I came off MJ. I weigh daily and for me this works. I’m fairly relaxed about what I eat, but this is now naturally a lot less than it would have been pre MJ. Weighing every morning helps me see if I’m creeping upwards and then I know to watch my diet. But over Christmas I’ve enjoyed food and drink and chocolate etc.

Wishing us all a fabulous 2026 as we adjust to our new, thinner normal.

Tremendous result 💪🏻 I’m a daily weigher too - keeps me motivated and in check. The bottom line for me though is to stop letting bad habits creep back in…a cheeky chocolate bar, wine etc. I’m using January as a reset with myself before I consider coming off MJ entirely.

That’s fantastic, @Cantbesure! I am enormously cheered to read that, both on your behalf and as inspo for myself!

I think daily weighing and responding to what you see is key. When I gained all the weight that set me off on this MJ journey, I’d been through a hellacious couple of years (increasingly clear with hindsight) and was ignoring the impact self-soothing with food was having on me.

I’m still really getting to grips with the emotional impact of the events that set me off on the weight gain track, tbh. Has anyone else found themselves re-evaluating anything like this? I feel like I’ve lost the weight (such a relief, in so many ways) but now I am realising I have some more to unpack.

@Cantbesure - you really are quite the 'off-MJ' inspiration. I have been steady on 7.5mg weekly for months, maintaining well, but Christmas/hols did see me drift off track despite the death jabs. Even after a week or so back, I know I'm not being as good as I was. I will get there with MJ for sure, but do fear the taper down.

So good to know that you were concerned about being off it altogether but have done so well since stopping. I'm a long-term daily weigher in the morning, but that's out of mind in the evening when the temptation (and wine) creeps in.....

PinkArt · 13/01/2026 12:49

Oh wow, that's an epic milestone @Cantbesure!

flametrees · 13/01/2026 20:53

LindtCurves · 12/01/2026 21:18

It does seem quite a different approach!

You're losing a lot of weight, so if I was in your shoes, I would try gradually winding down the doses/ skip weeks, and see what happens. (Of course remember that none of us are doctors here 😉)

It's obviously great for them as they keep making sales to you, but I don't think I have ever heard of anyone being told they are to remain on their max dose for life and keep injecting weekly.

Is it worth challenging it at the next appointment and flag that most people are advised to reduce their doses and to eventually come off?

How do you feel about the cost of 10mg for life?

Had my appointment today and she said I should stay on 10 for this month and then go back to 7.5. She was a bit concerned that my bmi was getting too low and asked for my most recent blood tests. For now the cost isn’t a big concern thankfully.

I still see myself as a fat person who is temporarily thin so to hear you are maintaining is great!

Oceangrey · 13/01/2026 20:57

@Cantbesure that's really inspirational to hear!

I'm gradually getting my food back on track, was doing a lot of snacking so I'm hoping to start seeing more regular loses again now off the endless plateau.

A win today on £ if not lb... I popped into Selfridges after a meeting and had a look through their sale, got a beautiful blue linen suit which would have been over £1000, for £145! It's incredible quality. And, in a size 12 (it said an 8 but I'm assuming US sizing). I've been wearing 12s recently but designer tailoring is a different matter. Slightly tight but that's a good thing as it should continue to fit.

If anyone is around Selfridges I recommend a look, the good sale discounts aren't on their website (suit is still around £500 on net a porter and elsewhere online).

I hear you. I’ve considered this issue a lot over the past six or so months..I most definitely had PTSD after looking after bedbound elderly parents and simultaneously dealing with a toxic sibling who had fleeced them. Then dealing with all of the losses. I absolutely drank way too much alcohol as a coping mechanism and was probably in denial about empty calories scarfed down each month in the form of the odd Maccy D’s etc. it was most definitely a form of self abuse. Whilst I drink at the weekend now, I don’t drink during the week and I don’t miss or crave it which has been a huge change in behaviour- and one made entirely possible by MJ.

Last year was my year of health..after unpacking myself and reflection I’ve decided that this year will be my year of wealth as I try and get on top of everything I’ve ignored/not had the headspace to deal with the past few years and implement operation retirement planning… it’s funny how all of a sudden the realisation you’ve probably only got a good ten years left to work means you have to consider what you’re gonna live on in the future… we are fortunate in our position but almost certainly the money is not working as hard for us as it could be and we’re probably paying over the odds in charges. I’ve had a cathartic filing session today so feeling like I’m getting a grip on things 🤞🏻

Be kind to yourself and try and tackle one problem at a time. You’ve got this 💐

Your experience post-MJ is so reassuring. I’m a daily weigher which I wondered would feed into getting too obsessed with every ounce (having avoided scales for the best part of 4 decades…!!) I think I’ve cracked this with the help of MJ - just trusting the process and knowing that there are fluctuations. Planning meals and the good old batch cooking has been helpful. Used some decent Wagu mince to make a Bolegnese sauce but packed it out with two tins of lentils and portioned out at 300 cals. Then I can add pasta one night, veg another and fill DH up with a jacket spud or garlic bread (he’s built like a racing snake 🐍!). Off to the land down under for a few weeks….will continue to trust the process, eat mindfully and read everyone’s posts!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 15/01/2026 06:59

Popping in to report that I’ve lost 4lbs between Mon and today - that can’t be real! Monday’s weight must have been stress/Christmas/water retention and artificially inflated. Thank goodness! Still 2lbs up from pre-Christmas but that sounds much more reasonable.

Fabulous! 🙌

I confess I am envious, I’ve been really good all week…exercising like a demon, eating very carefully, drinking plenty of water…and absolutely nada coming off. I know it takes time so I’m holding out for ether a whoosh or my methreesixty reveals inch losses instead tomorrow 🤞🏻

If it’s any comfort I’ve been up & down since Christmas - up to 64kg, back down to 63, now at 64.5 (I had a very salty day due to a pea soup made with the Christmas ham bone, I blame that) and I’m overdue a good cleansing run - so who knows when I’ll next be at 63 again? Clothes all still fit though, so I’m feeling positive and sticking to routine.

This is definitely one of the slightly tougher things about maintenance. You can weigh every day (and I still think it’s a good thing), but water retention can really fluctuate. I know the likes of Joe Wicks recommend you weigh weekly and pay more attention to your measurements than the scale (of course he is also encouraging muscle growth, which is lean weight), but measuring can be a faff!

Thank you…in before times I would definitely have just given up..so I’m glad I’m not doing that… I know I need to be patient - plus I’m doing the New Year Pvolve challenge from which I’m almost certainly building lean muscle mass so fingers crossed it’s ‘good’ weight!

Am a daily weigher too. Learning to trust the process and keep going has been the biggest change on mj for me. And I have learned about how my body reacts to various situations.

The keeping going is a real miracle.

MsRumpole · 15/01/2026 12:04

Well, that was a short break. I weighed in, discovered I'd gained about a stone over Christmas, and am now back on the MJ after a chat with the doctor. Basically the gastric symptoms are probably about not having got nutrition/time of eating quite right.

Interesting, though. I went back to 5mg from 10, because I'd last jabbed on the 16th Dec, and the food suppression is really effective but I don't have the side effects. I do wonder if it's a bit like perfume - it's not that it doesn't still smell lovely, but your nose gets used to it and so you find yourself putting more and more on over time.

Currently very much enjoying not thinking too much about food, although I do find myself dithering in the kitchen and then realise it's because my stomach is really not hungry but the binge eater in my head still thinks I should be bingeing.

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 15/01/2026 12:38

I know what you mean about dithering in the kitchen and your brain asking you why are you not binge eating @MsRumpole but now all the Christmas stuff is cleared out it is easier. DH has mentioned there’s nothing to snack a few times now but I will have to retrain back into pre-December expectations - eg not every nut is covered in chocolate, the cake tin is not full of Christmas cake and we don’t keep a fully stocked cheese board just in case his tummy rumbles 😂

The dining room has a jigsaw puzzle to stop dithering moments in the kitchen

Aiming to break the 10 stone weight barrier by end of January. Now back to weighing daily because I have to.

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 15/01/2026 12:45

Though progress has been non existent for obvious reasons for the past six weeks I am not moving up to 12.5mg. I have a 1 and a half 10mg pens to use and then I am going to drop to my 7.5mg stash. Suppression has been the same for me at both levels - I have no food noise really, drink a small amount of alcohol maybe twice a day a week now and portion control is good.

That's so interesting about the food suppression. I think I need to work a bit harder on nutrition and stick to lower pens basically

Goldleafcat · 15/01/2026 16:45

Welcome back @MsRumpole

I’m at the ‘summit’ of Mounjaro at 15mg and planning to move down to 12.5mg after my next two 15mg pens (realised I had two in my secret fridge stash!). I’ve got some 12.5mg ones ready from Oushk waiting in the fridge too (to keep up my ordering continuity). However, my latest Oushk order (due today) has gone AWOL (not their fault, it’s DPD) and if the pen arrives warm I may have to use that 12.5 first! My plan is to move down the doses to ease me into a life after the pen… we shall see.

In other news I’m happy to report I’m now 0.2lbs (ha) lighter than I was pre Christmas 🎄 🎉

I walk into the kitchen and open the snack cupboard or the fridge all the time! But on MJ I don’t usually fancy anything so I close it again and wander off. It’s shocked me to realise what a habit it is.

SerenePeer · 15/01/2026 18:38

@cantbesure that's absolutely brilliant! It's great having you as our post-MJ poster girl!

@oceangrey Ooh you temptress! I'm back in London next week so shall make sure I have a rummage for some swanky sale bargains in Selfridges!

I know it's frustrating for those of us who are still carrying the proof of cheeseboards and festive feasting, but goodness it's reassuring to know I'm not the only one! I didnt weigh daily over Christmas and I'm sure that was a slippery slope to complacency for me.

random223 · 16/01/2026 07:04

I am really struggling to get back to healthy eating post Christmas. I have been titrating down but also having quite a stressful time supporting an elderly parent who has just been released from hospital (60 miles away) and is currently bed bound. I have realised just how much stress affects my ability to eat sensibly. Batteries have also died in my scales so missing the accountability.
