I’ve had that - and like @SerenePeer I’ve found it’s gone hand in hand with more UPFs, salt & booze in my diet. I gained 3lb over Christmas that has dropped off pretty quickly once the crisps-and-a-drink-every-day Christmas cycle ended.

I’d still not been eating anything like what I’ve had in the past, but it’s been really interesting to see just how much my appetite and weight have realigned since I got back to the steady diet of whole foods and lots of water I was one before the hols!

I’ve been hungrier than normal the past week or so. Definitely much hungrier and fancying foods I wouldn’t normally have (crisps, snacks, etc). Interesting you mentioned about UPFs - I think you may be right, it seems they breed unhealthiness! I was pretty good over Christmas but there’s so much shite still hanging around the house!

Goldleafcat · 11/01/2026 15:32

I have however just realised that by delaying my dose over Christmas and then pushing it out incrementally back to a Monday I’ve actually technically missed 1 week of MJ. Wonder if that has had some sort of impact on the cumulative effect?

Interesting @goldleafcat ...according to my Shotsy graph my first dose after I delayed for Christmas was much lower at it's peak than my previous dose....delaying meant that I was at a lower baseline in terms of MJ left in my system. So that plus all the UPFs still stuffed in the kitchen cupboards was not a good combination! I've spent the weekend making soup and craving whole foods, so I'm hoping that's me back on track. Good reminder to keep my diet whole food focused!

I feel ill just keep losing weight if I stay as I am.

Hi all. Taking a break from MJ for the moment as it's giving me some gastro symptoms. I'll stay in touch though if that's ok and may well be back on it within a couple of months!

LindtCurves · 11/01/2026 20:12

@flametrees Really? 10mg for life? That's some interesting advice... Given that not long ago most suppliers cut you off at a certain point. Also your weight is getting towards the lower end of normal (I'm similar height and weight)

How many calories are you getting in a day/ do you have access to a nutritionist or fitness professional who advises on balance nutrition?

I was in a similar spot at my highest dose and really had to force myself to eat anything at all some days. There were certainly days/ weeks where I lacked energy, felt faint and in hindsight I simply wasn't eating enough. I've noticed that most maintainers on here do their own thing, i.e. spread out the shots or reduce doses, or both.

I am coming to the end of my little experiment. On week 4 without shots, but was always planning to inject again.

My eating is so weird - similar to a training athlete maybe? I crave large portion sizes - but of the good stuff! I have just polished off a healthy stir fry (a 'serves 2' kind, no sauce), and for dessert I've had kefir... Except that I've had a whole 1 litre bottle! With berries etc! I'm also partial to extremely large helpings of lean protein like tuna steak, chicken etc.

So in essence I eat healthy but just huge portions. However I do also have a sweet treat a day.

Interesting to be able to eat so much after not having any interest for a year.

I'll dose 5mg today and see how that changes how I feel. MedExpress are hounding me to buy more!

@Mounjaropen love the article, the mince was an interesting swap, will do that.

They just give me a new three month prescription.
I started with Dh and he has gotten to goal and is eating really well where as I’m barely eating at all now unless he is here nagging me. I dread to think what my calorie intake is.
it’s really only in the last two months that my weight loss has really sped up. I was 10 stone for months and then flew down to 9.

How do you feel? Do you know your BMR? How does your calorie intake compare to it?How much movement are you getting? If you are eating below your BMR this isn’t sustainable and you should let your provider know. I’m a similar height and my BMR is 1340ish but I probably have 500 cals ‘earned’ in exercise per day. I’ve not heard of any provider prescribing’for life’ so ask plenty of questions about the safety of long term use/ coming off or access to studies supporting long term use safely.

That was a very useful article, @Mounjaropen - I wouldn’t have thought of swapping farmed salmon for frozen wild salmon, and I didn’t know mince was a source of collagen either! Also now alerted to the existence of cocoa nut butters rather than Nutella, shall try DD on that.

DH has bitten the bullet and ordered MJ - very proud of him! He weighed himself for the order for probably the first time in about 5 years and got a shock. He’s got approx 6 stone to lose so I really hope MJ treats him gently and he doesn’t have side effects.

My DH is now on the pen.. all going well and he’s kept on 2.5mg for month 2. Wishing your DH luck 🥰

DDog was limping the past couple of days… bone cancer is a common issue for the breed at this age (he’s nearly 9) so I’ve been beside myself watching him walk. The limp has faded so I’m keeping everything crossed 😭

Advice needed please. I upped my maintenance back to 7.5 on Wednesday because I was so insanely hungry. It hasn’t done anything at all. I realise that diet had slipped back into more carbs, chocolate and alcohol. I’m on holiday and have been eating more protein this week but just want to eat everything. Drinking 3l of water and trying to make better choices. Thank you. 🙏

Don’t panic! you are on holiday where it’s likely you will drink alcohol..which if you’re anything like me, leads to poor food choices. Or even more alcohol 😆

If you’re determined to be ‘good’ on holiday, could you start the day with an omelette or egg based breakfast with little or no carbs?. Big fancy salad for lunch and then a grilled protein and lots of greens for dinner. Stay away from any little bowls of fancy nuts/bar snacks, and limit your dessert to exotic fruit platters if you can. ‘Stripe’ your drinks - so for every alcoholic beverage, have a glass of water. Stay off the sugary cocktails and don’t forget fruit juice is very carb heavy so switch a vodka orange for vodka lime and soda if you can. Is there a gym where you’re staying? Lifting weights has an effect which lasts for hours afterwards so maybe do a fast paced treadmill walk for 30mins and then a basic weights routine for 30mins?

have a fab holiday!

Morning all! Happy Monday. I’m still about 1.5lbs up from my pre Christmas low so hoping to get that off in the next week. I do think @SerenePeer and shotsy are probably right about the delayed dose and spacing out having a cumulative impact. After my next 15mg pen I’m going down to 12.5mg pens so will see how that goes! (Though not for another 6 weeks if my calculations are correct). Hoping I can get to 10 stone in that time.

My new flashy pink Boden coat arrived, it fits and I love it!

Braved taking DS swimming on Saturday. A year ago I wouldn’t have had the confidence. It’s made me determined not to slide backwards. I do need some new swimming costumes though. The only two that fit are swim dresses so I feel a bit random at the pool for a swimming lesson. Not sure what to get though. I have a long body which means I always need to size up and even then the fit is odd. Wondering about the shorts and top combo again (from Boden, again, think I’m their number one fan 😆).

Morning, another week of fighting fat.

Ive jabbed this morning after a few weeks off. Jet lag is still an issue or maybe it’s just insomnia at this point. I had to work a few days while away, meaning setting an alarm for 1am to log in and I think that messed with me.
Slept loads this weekend but the holiday weight is pissing off which interrupted my sleep a lot. And getting up this morning was a real struggle after not getting to sleep until close to 3am.
And breathe.

Glad to hear the Christmas weight is shifting or at least not increasing for others.

Hi all - it's been quite the marathon thread catch-up, from pre-Christmas, for me over the last few days...lots of great stories and updates, amongst some challenging ones too.

We had a really good Christmas. We had our main family lunch event on Christmas eve and Chistmas Day as a PJ day with just the four of us (plus the cat) as we wanted time and space for a house clearup before embarking on a massive treat holiday sailing in the Caribbean sunshine for a week with older SIL and her DCs. Sun, sea, sand and sugary cocktails a-plenty and really did feel I let my proverbial hair down a bit, intake wise.

DW and I both jabbed 2 days early, before leaving, and then a day late when we got back, so it was a little experiment in stretching between jabs. Weigh in on return was around 4-5 lbs up - far from a disaster but, since then, I have been pretty snacky on the bad stuff and, although I've shifted a pound or so back off, am giving myself quite the talking to about getting back on the straight and narrow.

Looking further into 2026, intentions (great way of looking at it!) are to taper the MJ, even if just a little bit, and focus on alcohol and sleep - less of the former, more of the latter!!

Just want to say how smug I feel about being amongst you all in this friendly and supportive group - especially as an interloping M - thank you!!

Great to hear from you! The holiday sounds wonderful, as does the chilled Xmas. You're not an interloper at all - We love the male perspective! . Glad your DW is doing well too.

I've actually logged back into MFP today. I obviously recorded my weight last November (193lbs!) before doing bugger all with it but I felt the need to become accountable to get myself back on the straight and narrow! I've had my main meal today of lean pork loin (pan fried in butter alongside some mushrooms, steamed broccoli, rocket and a whole corn on the cob) but that has only got me to 52g of protein and I need closer to 93g so I'll be having a couple of boiled eggs (26g) later today with some dates filled with deep roasted peanut butter (another 4g of protein). I had a packet of fresh lychee for dessert (this is my favourite time of the year when they are in season). I'm at 1458 cals so far today including the foods I've not yet eaten plus I have 290 cals from the treadmill earlier and I reckon 250 (conservatively ) from my Pvolve session and a gentle dog walk. I'm only on black coffee or water this week (I've drunk 2l of water so far today) so I'm hoping that I might shed a lb through cal deficit by the end of the week if I keep this effort up - plus I'm playing tennis twice.

Anyway..we're all feeling it, so keep on at it!

Oh dear - could you adjust your evening routine to help facilitate sleep? Do you ave access to a meditation app? (I use the Peloton sleep programmes) I also got some magnesium body butter in my Liberty advent calendar - I've been using that before bed which is certainly helping. Plus my tart cherry juice and magnesium tummies. It's become quite a palaver 😂

It does seem quite a different approach!

You're losing a lot of weight, so if I was in your shoes, I would try gradually winding down the doses/ skip weeks, and see what happens. (Of course remember that none of us are doctors here 😉)

It's obviously great for them as they keep making sales to you, but I don't think I have ever heard of anyone being told they are to remain on their max dose for life and keep injecting weekly.

Is it worth challenging it at the next appointment and flag that most people are advised to reduce their doses and to eventually come off?

How do you feel about the cost of 10mg for life?

Great advice @Mounjaropen Especially about striping the drinks. I jabbed early yesterday and feel better. I’ve decided to leave trying to titrate down until I come hope. Do that and being on holiday is too much for me. I’ve been in the gym once but next week will do more especially as 2 friends arrive who are dedicated gym people unlike myself.
It’s been a great lively thread since Christmas and it’s fantastic to read and catch up with everyone.

Cantbesure · 13/01/2026 08:19

@flametrees that actually sounds a bit dangerous if you are dropping weight so quickly from an already low base. What does your gut tell you about continuing to dose at that level? I’ve loved this thread for supporting us in taking ownership of how we use MJ and seeing the different approaches taken.

quick update from me, this weekend will see me hit the milestone of being off MJ as long as I was on it. 30 weeks both sides. I have maintained my weight and really no-one is as surprised as me as I spent a lot of time worrying about what would happen when I came off MJ. I weigh daily and for me this works. I’m fairly relaxed about what I eat, but this is now naturally a lot less than it would have been pre MJ. Weighing every morning helps me see if I’m creeping upwards and then I know to watch my diet. But over Christmas I’ve enjoyed food and drink and chocolate etc.

Wishing us all a fabulous 2026 as we adjust to our new, thinner normal.
