I’ve taken 26 jabs now and lost 23% of my body weight. Ignoring the recent plateau (which I thought had ended but then I jumped up again), I should see more of a difference, surely? My BMI is still 32.7 so I know I’m still obese rather than just overweight and nowhere near “healthy”, but I’m so fed up. I bought a new coat in a size 18 and it’s really tight! I really thought I’d left the 20s behind. How can I not reliably have even dropped one measly dress size in over 5 months and over 23kg down?!!

Librariesrule · 27/11/2025 06:09

Another 2lb off, total loss of 2st 7lb.
SW 16st 11lb BMI 37.9
CW 14st 4lb BMI 32.3

I feel your pain. I have lost nearly 4.5 stone over 2 years (not all on MJ) and have dropped only 2 sizes on the top, and only 1 in jeans (though they were originally tighter than I wish to admit!). I put all my stats to ChatGPT and asked when I would be a size smaller, it told me I had to loose another stone!! I was gutted but it’s probably right, and that means I have to loose tonnes more to get to my goal size! I’m 5ft 3.5inches possibly even 5’3” as I’m shrinking, used to be 5’’4”!

Fellow short-arse here. Only 5ft2 (though suspect also shrinking - GP says I’m 157cm…) That’s so depressing that 4.5 stone only translates to 1-2 sizes though! I really am going to be here for the long haul.

Are those of you who are losing weight but not getting smaller exercising? My weight loss has been sloooooow, I am 30.2kg down in total and it has taken me just over two and a half years - I have been on MJ for just shy of 6 months of that because I had stopped losing and started gaining despite still being on my diet and exercise regime.

However, I was in size 22 jeans and am now wearing 14s, even though I am still obese (current BMI 31.6) and the fancy gym scales say my muscle percentage has only dropped by 1.1% but my fat % has dropped 10% - so nearly all the weight I have lost is fat not muscle, and it's fat we want to lose, right, not just non-specific "weight".

23kg in 5 months is an awful lot of weight to lose, but you might be losing muscle rather than fat at that rate - and that won't make you drop dress sizes. Sorry, this isn't meant to sound mean. I listened to a podcast yesterday where a Dr was saying the biggest issue with remote prescribing is the lack of monitoring of whether people are losing fat rather than weight, because if you primarily lose muscle weight you're actually getting fatter in % terms even if your overall weight goes down...

MsRinky · 27/11/2025 10:32

Sorry, for non-metric types 30.2kg is 4 stone 10, which for me has been 4 sizes, and I am nearly 53, so not young.

SecretIrnBruDrinker · 27/11/2025 11:28

I have been exercising - gym weights for 30 mins 4 times a week plus loads of walking. Me360 says I've lost 1cm off my thighs in the last month and 2.3cm off my bum which is the only visible difference on the scan - that's 4.5kg weight loss.

My body fat since 1 June has gone from 53.4% to 35.4%, and my skeletal muscle increased from 27.2% to 37.7%. BMI from 40.2 to 28.5 - I just need to be 10st 1lb to be healthy Grin

It's all going in the right direction, but it's so slow and although I'm not hungry much, I am totally bored of chia seeds, cottage cheese and chicken.

A useful reminder, certainly. I have fibromyalgia so movement is always painful but I do walk several times a week. I want to do weights but struggling with motivation to do it alone and can’t afford a gym!
Shotsy reckons I’m averaging 1kg a week (was faster for the first few weeks and then slowed right down) which is less than 1% of my starting body weight (well over 100kg) per week which I remember reading was a sustainable loss - I expect it to continue to slow down as I lose more.

HappyWineDay · 27/11/2025 13:11

@MissMogs 23kg is 2lb/week over 26 weeks so please don’t be disheartened. That’s a very healthy, sustainable rate to lose weight.

Absolutely fair point to make. I’m not active as in I don’t go to the gym, and the physio for my knee (falling to pieces!) said I didn’t have a sedentary lifestyle (after I said I did) when he asked what I did(walk). I should go to the gym, but absolutely hate it, never get the exercise high people go on about! I did wonder if I was loosing weight from around my organs (wishful thinking!), which would be beneficial but not show in the dress sizes. I also have hefty hefty legs, and have always lost weight from the top down and judging by my cankles, thknees, chonky thighs and humongous arse - I put weight on from the bottom up!😂

LadyClumber · 27/11/2025 15:14

Interesting re exercise - I have reached target the same weight now as I was pre-kids. However, my post-menopausal waist is actually smaller! I have been lifting heavy (for me) weights since I started MJ and I am sure this must be the reason.

My waist is smaller too! I lift weights and think it is making a difference.

Those who lift weights, what are we talking here? 5kg? Proper gym weights?

MsRinky · 27/11/2025 16:01

Over the last couple of years I have built up to deadlifting 70kg and bench pressing 40kg, but I also do circuits and other classes with weights between 5 and 12kg depending on the exercise and some kettlebell stuff which is usually about 16kg. It has completely changed my life, I had never set foot in a gym before I turned 50.

I started with 2kg dumbbells and now lift 5kg mostly, occasionally 8kg for goblet squats and lower body stuff

Wow @FoxRedPuppyand @MsRinkythat’s super impressive!! 💪

LadyClumber · 27/11/2025 19:49

I use weights machines at the gym because I don’t have a personal trainer and don’t want to injure myself! Current plan is to have a couple of PT sessions in the New Year to show me how to use free weights properly.

BlabbedyBlah · 28/11/2025 10:58

I'm new here and haven't read the whole (5!) thread(s) so sorry if I am asking something that comes up a lot!
Started Mounjaro at the beginning of June at 22st 11.5lbs, 4st 8lbs lost, still looking to lose another 4st or more.
My hair is falling out 😫I have very thick hair which I am grateful for, but I am worried that I am only half way through this journey and I might not have much left by the end at this rate. Has anyone used / done anything that has actually helped? Obviously loads of people are trying to sell things online, but some actual recommendations would be great please!

Librariesrule · 28/11/2025 15:03

NSV found a pair of jeans that I haven't worn since well before COVID and they went on easily. In fact they're a tad loose, which I don't remember the last time I wore them 😁

Crinklecat · 28/11/2025 20:07

@BlabbedyBlah i believe hair loss is caused by lack of protein, how much are you eating a day? I take a collagen and protein powder which I think helps

flameprincess · 28/11/2025 21:20

Ah Iost you all! Well oh dear was on my way to a family party this evening, lots of people I haven't seen all year so I was kind of excited to possibly have people notice my weightloss (nobody who sees me day to day seems to have clocked the 2.5 stone off)

Anyway my excitement was shortlived, 5 year old projectile vomited all over the back of the car and me when I was 5 mins from the venue. Im now back home us both showered and in PJs. Will have to save my grand reveal until another time 😅

Sogfree · 29/11/2025 13:51

I hope he's feeling better today @flameprincess

Love that NSV @Librariesrule 🎉

FoxRedPuppy · 30/11/2025 09:54

Morning! So far I’ve managed to lose more weight while maintaining 😂. I’ve been away with work this week and not particularly trying hard.

I think I need to get used to eating slightly more to maintain. I’ve lost 2kg since I decided I was maintaining. I actually think on my top half I look a bit too thin now.

I did manage to put on a pair of size 12 jeans! I thought of some other NSV yesterday but I’ve forgotten now!

OP posts:
RussianDoll76 · 30/11/2025 11:19

@FoxRedPuppy
Well done you . It’s nice to see maintenance is working well for you I think a lot of us are worried about this. How are you finding it ? Are you titrating down or have you stopped ? I ask as I’m at a bit of a crossroads 🤔 I have reached a point where I am comfortable even though I am about a stone over healthy bmi . I am 5ft 2 though . I was aiming to lose the last stone as a big buffer but I am struggling with the same 3 lbs I am either 10st 11 or 11 stone 😫. Like you I think I’m a bit thin on top too. Wish we could direct the fat loss 😂.

well done on the nsvs . It does put a spring in your step when something new happens!

Due to jab today but still debating what way to go ????? Need to make a plan

Foreveronaplane · 30/11/2025 11:33

Hi all, just catching up with the thread.
loving the positive losses and NSVs.
6 months in & 3 st lost. I’m a slow loser but reminded by reading all the comments that I need to drink more water ..
BMI at 29 but still 2st to go.
