I've just collected my first supply and wondered if anyone wanted to join in with the journey! I'm on 2.5 and I'm 14st1, goal weight is 12 stone as that is my pre baby weight and we'll see how I feel once I've reached it!

any tips on when to take it each week? I'm going to avoid alcohol and even though snacking is my weakness I think purchasing a supply is going to make me stop in a weird way. Any tips gratefully received and if anyone wants to join the journey for support and no judgment here's the place!

I’m on the October thread …. Will do my 2nd jab tomorrow.

im still trying to work out what is the impact of the jab versus placebo effect of what I should do it feel.

on the plus side no side effects last week at all.

problembottom · 01/11/2025 22:04

Hello! I’m 14.1 stone too with an aim of getting down to 11 - my healthy BMI is under 11.5lbs. I injected my first dose on Thursday morning and felt no change at all yesterday. Today tho my hunger seems to have muted, with no desire to eat loads of junk as I do most evenings. I’ve also had mild stomach pains all day. So I wonder if it’s kicking in…

TheHappyHedgehog · 01/11/2025 22:19

Hi, I’d love to join. Also 14 stone. I had an HRT review with nurse at my GP surgery and she weighed me. Heaviest I’ve ever been and BMI had just nudged 30! Wake up call time.

I did my first injection last Sunday afternoon. By the evening I felt a bit rough and went to bed at 7pm with no dinner! Felt fine by the next day and haven’t really been hungry at all until today when I’ve felt able to eat more.

I regret Sunday as my choice of day and want to move to Friday night so it’s most effective at the weekend and so any immediate side effects from the injection are at the weekend rather than when I’m at work. I decided to do my 2nd jab today (so about 18 hours early) and if that’s ok I might move it back 18 hours again next weekend which will then have me on track to do every Friday night going forward.

Fifiellz · 01/11/2025 22:30

I’ve got my first pen of 2.5 ready to start on Monday. Im only putting it off till then because I am out at a huge birthday celebration tomorrow and I can’t be feeling ill or not able to eat a meal! I’m very nervous about side effects but at the same time I’m pleased to have finally made the decision to try it and maybe having a summer where i’m not constantly telling myself that next year will be different. I’m 5ft 5 and 12st 3 - have lost about 9 pounds since starting hrt in June and I know I’m not huge but it looks hideous on my frame. I’m very small boned and it’s all on my back and belly.

Otx affecting me so much, I don’t dress nicely anymore and actively avoid mirrors in shops. I just want to feel pride in myself again,

Ideal weight is 9st so 3st to go!

Nearlyamumoftwo · 01/11/2025 23:40

Wow it's incredible hearing so many similar stories - yes similar to @TheHappyHedgehogi am heavier than I was when 9 months pregnant so I've also had a wake up call! It must be a placebo because I did my injection about 8pm, and didn't feel the need to snack at all, which I normally do all night!
@TomTom2022that's brilliant well done - do you worry about being able to maintain it? I know im
a while off but that's what's put me off the whole thing.. trying to keep it off once stopping

Tbh I'm shitting myself about coming off it. I will do fasting I did it once before it worked but it's not easy. I had a hysterectomy 6 years ago and piled weight on. And no matter what I couldn't lose now I'm at my happy weight

Hi all. I started yesterday!

I am not sure if it is on my mind but appetite suppression started within a few hours. I had the jab just before lunch time, I had the whole afternoon to myself at home and I usually will tell myself I need treats as everyone is out enjoying themselves! I didnt even think about food then had to make dinner because I knew I needed to eat as opposed to wanting to.

I feel similar today so far, I just feel a bit odd, can't put my finger on it.

I am not really sure of my target weight yet. BMI says 49-66kg with other methods saying around 54-58. My lowest ever weight was 8st9 when I was 25 and I wouldn't have wanted to go lower than that, I started getting into quite high intensity fitness and stayed around 9st1-4 but looked slimmer that when I weighed less. From age 40 to now I have crept up and up!
I am 46 now so thinking probably around 9st6/60kg. This would be around 2.5 stone in total.

What so people think about losing weight in their 40s, do you find you need to keep a bit more on due to aging face etc? Or is that just a myth?

Shitzngiggles · 02/11/2025 11:08

@SexyFrenchDepression I lost weight in my 40s (I'm now in my 60s). My face definitely didn't age, in fact I looked so much healthier in my face. Not sure how I will fare now though 20 years on.

Thats great to hear. I think i look bloated now so will look so much better with less weight on my face.

Fifiellz · 02/11/2025 12:31

I’ve got a moon face right now, it makes me look older. I do think it’s a balance though and I will stop losing it if I think i’m starting to look drawn. I want to get to 9st as that was my healthy weight before I had kids but I think realistically I’m going to look healthier at 10st now I’m 50. I will just evaluate as I go.

MooFroo · 02/11/2025 12:48

I took jabs for a few months last year and lost about a stone and came off it after awful sulphur burps.
but im still overweight and need to manage my blood sugar

SW - around 197lbs
First goal - lose a stone by Xmas in 7 weeks

thinking of joining Team RH for the nutrition support and help as I just can do it myself - gorged on half a pack of biscuits and 2 toast this morning knowing I’ll be stopping junk food after the jab so need the discipline!

good luck all!

Same here - I'm 63 now, but lost weight in my 40s (2 stone) and it definitely didn't age me. Hoping it won't do the same now but I don't think it will

Nearlyamumoftwo · 02/11/2025 19:55

I took my first dose 24 hours ago, and I don't feel any different now - should I? I've just had dinner and it was a normal sized portion, maybe slightly smaller and had some yoghurt and banana after as I normally would. When do you think I should start to feel fuller? I'm sure I'm a bit silly to think it would work after 24 hours!!

I'll join you OP. I have my first dose (2.5) but won't be starting until next weekend after I have spoken to my GP. I plan to start on Friday night. I am about 14st 10lbs I think and need to lose at least 3 stone, if not more.

SexyFrenchDepression · 02/11/2025 20:15

@Nearlyamumoftwo my understanding is that it can start working within a few hours to few days so maybe it just hasnt kicked in yet?

Mumoftwo1624 · 02/11/2025 22:11

Evening 👋

I'd love to join your journey as I've started mine this evening!

I'm 14st 6lbs / 5ft 3in and have got to a point where I'm extremely unhappy with my weight, the way I look and it's more recently been battering my mental health too 🙃

I've followed slimming world on and off for years and once got to my target weight which felt fantastic but for me, I know it's never going to work long term so I'm hoping this does and I can change to a much healthier lifestyle and get back to that target! I'm really nervous!

DontFeedMeSeymour · 03/11/2025 10:48

I did my first jab last night! It’s been over twelve hours and I don’t feel any different. I feel motivated - had two eggs for breakfast and drinking lots of water, but like you OP am anxiously awaiting the advertised feeling 😂

MooFroo · 03/11/2025 11:00

For those of us who jabbed yesterday or the day before, let’s remember to be patient as it will take time to kick in!

my biggest issue is water and drinking enough - all those toilet trips, combined with a weak pelvic floor and menopause, it’s a blooming nightmare!

Fifiellz · 03/11/2025 11:27

I took my first dose this morning. I feel a bit bruised where I injected but it didn’t hurt and was easy enough. I don’t think I have any symptoms but my mind is very quiet and I feel very chilled and zen.

ArtesianWater · 03/11/2025 12:02

Where are people choosing to inject? I am most nervous about the first jab and wonder if there is a specific place that is easiest?

Fifiellz · 03/11/2025 12:05

I did it in my stomach, about 10cms right of my belly button. I was really nervous as well this morning but I didn’t feel anything and I’m glad i’ve got it done now.

KimTheresPeopleThatAreDying · 03/11/2025 12:08

Stomach for me - plenty of excess flesh! It doesn’t hurt at all, I barely feel it.

jaelato1 · 03/11/2025 12:17

@Nearlyamumoftwo It might take a few days or even week 2 for the suppression to kick, it's different for everybody. However, you also have to incorporate calorie deficit immediately you begin your journey and eat clean as much as you can. Find out what your TDEE is and then set target to eat between 500-800 less than your TDEE. e.g. if your TDEE is 2000kcals, to lose weight you need to eat between 1500-1200 kcals per day. MJ will help reduce your food noise but you still have to control what and how much you eat.

Good luck to all the november starters. Prioritise PROTEIN (keeps you fuller for longer) and fibre and drink 2-3ltr of water a day x

problembottom · 03/11/2025 19:29

I injected in my thigh as it's nice and chunky lol, found the thought of it terrifying to be honest and put it off for a few days but didn't feel it when I plucked up the courage.

My jab took a day and a half to have any effect if it helps - the first night I had a shedload of wine quite happily lol - but two more days and I can really feel a difference. The best way of describing it is my appetite feels muted. Had a delicious roast dinner yesterday and I could only eat a smallish portion. Tonight we had salmon fillets and pasta, couldn't finish it. Most importantly for improving my health, I have lost the desire to load up on junk in the evening. This is all unheard of for me, I always finish a plate and I always want to snack at night.
