Just kicking off another thousand posts of encouragement and support!

Old thread: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight-loss-injections/5378622-mournjaro-july-starters-2nd-thread

@MeridaBrave what an arsehole! Exactly why I keep quiet too. We live in a very well researched bubble - most people still only know Ozempic and Sharon Osborne. Lots of young 20 somethings where I work only know it as something illegal you buy - I've heard it's sold in clubs! 😅 In which case they are doing clubbing all wrong these days...

Mournjaro July Starters 2nd thread | Mumsnet

New thread. First post re: lifting heavy. I mentioned on the other thread about lifting heavy for 6-8 reps and I was told it was bad advice. Clearly...

Thanks for the new thread!

As to gym lady I might have said ‘oh I was already taking they for my diabetes, it keeps me alive, not sure why you think it’s shit?’. And shame her that way. But I am a bit evil.

I’ve not actually hidden it and most of my friends know and have been entirely positive.

ive been ill the last week or so and my eating is chaotic. Can’t face decent stuff and have mainly eaten crap but not in vast portions so hope it equals out.

DabOfPistachio · 24/10/2025 08:00

I was trying to reply to Merida's post and couldn't work out why it wouldn't let me. 1000 already!
Those ozempic comments were just plain rude and also deeply ignorant.
But I quite enjoy answering that kind of presumptive comment with "Oh actually I am..." and watching the person flounder 🤣

1023nina · 24/10/2025 17:44

just sayjng hi on new thread, hope everyone is ok

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 25/10/2025 09:31

Morning all! I must be alone in never hearing any negative comments about WLIs. Loads of people at my work are on them, and the ones that aren't are only curious. That said, I haven't told my parents yet (waiting until they notice/mention my weight loss) and they might be a bit more uncertain.

Weigh in day for me today, 3.75mg seems to have bump started things again, 1.6kg off this week 😁 total of 19.5kg in 15 weeks!

LakeFlyPie · 26/10/2025 23:10

Hi all! Checking back in after a month off MJ for planned surgery, back on 2.5 as of last Monday and enjoying the quieting of the food noise which had got a bit louder of late! Have managed to keep most of the 6 kgs I’d shed since July off, now on a concerted effort to get another 8 off, aiming for 1 per week. Have caught up with thread 2 and am so impressed with some of the progress reports 👏🏻

Chinsupmeloves · 26/10/2025 23:20

I've just not told anyone apart from DH and close family members. Private, like with any medication. You tell one person and news spreads.

Yes I probably do feel bit ashamed because weight loss in the past has been due to exercise and working hard to maintain healthy eating.

I do admit now that I'm older I don't have the same energy, motivation and taking this option as it's available. Xxx

Omg wasn’t she rude? I mean, I was hardly going to admit to it at that point, especially as I was a gym studio with other people I knew and WTF why is it awful stuff!!?

It’s not the first time its happened in the gym either. One time I was confident enough that I didn’t know anyone and I said I took it to lower my cholesterol and I doubt they’d say taking statins was cheating.

Multiple other people have asked me. My weight has stablised at 57.5kg which is a BMI of just under 22, which seems to be a good weight for me. I’m still taking it, need to think about how to come off, just have a history of yo yo dieting and don’t want to gain it back. I have zero confidence I can maintain it.

In other news I did my gym photoshoot. I’d love to share here but it would be very identifying. I’m really happy with the photos.

Week 16. I've lost 22lbs, which I'm happy about, although only 3lbs in last 4 weeks. I'm in size 12 clothes for first time in 10 years
Now darker, colder days have arrived I'm starting to crave carbs again. Increased to 7.5mg today, so hopefully that will help
Has anyone else noticed winter days affecting appetite?

I did have an increase in appetite but then I increased to 3.75mg and it went away again!

1.5kg loss for me, total of 21kg (3 stone 4) in 16 weeks. Definitely back on track since increasing to 3.75mg, I'll take whatever is left in this pen (probably somewhere between 3.75 and 5mg) next Friday then see how that goes before deciding about going up to 5mg. I probably will go up though as I'm finding the effects are only lasting for about 3-4 days before the food noise and hunger come back.

Wildflowerblooms · 03/11/2025 09:52

Finally found the new thread, today starts week 18 for me. I’m 2 stones 3 pounds down all together. Just a few pounds outside of just being overweight for my height. Only lost a single pound this week, but that’s okay between my birthday dinner/cake and going away for the weekend I’m happy to be down a pound still.

Chittychittychocchoc · 03/11/2025 20:26

Found new thread. Name change for me somewhere along the way!

Today I’m celebrating teaching a bmi of 25! Just over 17kg down now- going to keep going for a bit. Not decided on my target weight yet. I felt best 15 years ago with a bmi of 22.5 but not sure if that’s realistic anymore so will see how I go

Chittychittychocchoc · 03/11/2025 20:28

Oh and meant to say weight loss hugely slowed down to around 0.25- 0.5kg/ week. I’m still taking 3.75 but not planning to go up unless weight loss stops completely. I’m happy with slow and steady!

MeridaBrave · 04/11/2025 19:20

I did this in the gym. Since starting the WLI. The weight loss has slowed down by still 2kg of fat off in last month. Clearly the fat on this is a gross underestimate but it’s good it’s still creeping down.

I was posting a few weeks ago about overwhelming hunger again, and this has now settled. I genuinely wonder if I had a duff pen or didn't administer properly or someting. I had been convinced it wasn't working anymore. I have carried on at the same dose and still weekly and things now feel normal again.

It is quite alarming how the hunger overwhelms you when you haven't had it for a while. And it was hunger, not cravings, if you see what I mean; I needed to eat, but wasn't drawn to a packet of biscuits. So I don't know if this is what the future looks like but I'm not keen to go back there!

I now have a BMI of 22.5. What will online providers still prescribe for? I don't feel hugely inclined towards losing more weight. That said I still have a lot of fat on my thighs but maybe this is just what my 47 year old self looks like! I started at 82kg and now 66kg. I think I'd be delighted to stay here but I can't stop being critical and grabbing at fat. I think I had an entirely unrealistic view of what weight loss would look like. I don't look like I did when I was last this weight but thats because i'm not 22....?!?!?! My stomach is floppy and arse sagging and thats with a LOT of yoga / pilates / cardio. But whatever. I shall just keep my clothes on:)

Need to do a recomp. Gain muscle and lose fat whilst keeping weight the same. I’m really happy with how I look. BMI 22, age 51. I’m ripped! I’ve eaten loads of protein and lifted very heavy weights (Pilates yoga and cardio won’t help at all). Takes ages though as hard to gain muscle in late 40s and 50s. I was lifting well before I started taking MJ.

WishItWasDifferent25 · 05/11/2025 21:18

Don’t really want to be ripped, or join a gym! Just not me. I’d like a yoga teachers body. And to be fair I am a yoga teacher with a body so I’m there but I’d like more of one. Def poss to get there through yoga. The women I practice with look great, long toned limbs. But it needs a lot of dedication and time I don’t have right now. To be honest my exercise is as much for mental health as it is physical. Could never give that up. Really I’m just being self critical. It’s not like I’ve any need to get naked in public unless I start going to sex parties, which I wouldn’t rule out :)

It’s a myth of “long toned limbs”. I mean, any weight bearing exercise whether weight lifting or yoga potentially encourages muscle gain. The myth is that you can’t shape the muscles to be “long”. All you can do is add to the muscle through weight bearing exercise or not.

If you persist with very heavy weights sure you can get the muscles bigger quicker. The “toned” look is just as body fat is very low. I hate the term but everyone in the gym - including those who only go to Pilates tell me I look “toned”.

stormageddmum · 05/11/2025 21:34

Still having very slow progress - 1st 7lb since 10th July. Finally ducked under 14st and won't be weighing this week as I know I went a bit overboard with 4 drinks and a wagamamas on Monday night (flipin pricey £9.25 pint too - bloaty and offensively pricey so double reason to avoid).

On 3.75 and really trying to not go up as it will be getting too pricey to justify not swapping to wegovy. My suppression on 3.75 has been great though. I just drank through it as I was excited to be out at a gig and then felt a bit refluxy and horrible. I'm a silly arse.

Ha I mean they are all five foot ten with naturally long limbs. No one comments much on my weight loss because of my height and posture. We get away with a lot and I don't think anyone would have thought of me much as fat so they wouldn’t see me as thin now. Different worlds, different bodies. I’m good really, just being critical

I’ve been on Wegovy from the start. Supression has been ace apart from an odd few weeks. I wouldn’t rule it out!

Right I’m 5 4 so never going to have long limbs.

I am fully prepared to try it (I can always swap back) but just giving it as long as poss on Mounjaro because I'm such a slow loser - in case loss is even slower on Wegovy. I'll be on some form of WLIs till at least late next summer, if not a year.

You never know, it could end up being more effective? I have had a really positive experience apart from what I am now convinced was a dud pen month!

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 08/11/2025 09:35

1kg off this week, total of 22kg in 17 weeks. 3.75mg seems to be working well for me so I think I'll stay on this dose for a bit longer and see how I go.
