Just kicking off another thousand posts of encouragement and support!

Old thread: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight-loss-injections/5378622-mournjaro-july-starters-2nd-thread

@MeridaBrave what an arsehole! Exactly why I keep quiet too. We live in a very well researched bubble - most people still only know Ozempic and Sharon Osborne. Lots of young 20 somethings where I work only know it as something illegal you buy - I've heard it's sold in clubs! 😅 In which case they are doing clubbing all wrong these days...

Mournjaro July Starters 2nd thread | Mumsnet

New thread. First post re: lifting heavy. I mentioned on the other thread about lifting heavy for 6-8 reps and I was told it was bad advice. Clearly...

1kg off this week, total of 22kg in 17 weeks. 3.75mg seems to be working well for me so I think I'll stay on this dose for a bit longer and see how I go.

That’s excellent, well done!

WishItWasDifferent25 · 06/11/2025 21:52

You never know, it could end up being more effective? I have had a really positive experience apart from what I am now convinced was a dud pen month!

Very reassuring to know! I'm chasing deals and swapping suppliers to keep it low cost at the mo, rinsing the price comparison deals from monj website, but will swap if it gets too pricey.

I’m still maintaining, coming to end of pen 3 (using 5mg pens for 2.5mg)… not sure whether to try taking a break

WishItWasDifferent25 · 26/11/2025 21:32

I’m maintaining, and have stayed on the same dose for a fair few weeks now. I’m eating more than I have in ages and am anxious this will result in gain but holding steady for now. I really don’t think December is the time to go cold turkey. Otherwise you might end up eating …. All the cold turkey !

Yes totally true re: eat the turkey (and the celebrations) but I alway start a diet in January so maybe that’s ok?!

Chittychittychocchoc · 27/11/2025 07:46

I have 3 stubborn pounds to get to my target! I’d hoped to get there before Christmas but have so much going on (effecting time to exercise as much as making me feel at too much) so I think I’m going to be happy enough if I maintain though December and then push hard again in the New Year.

2026 focus is going to be fitness, strength and body composition rather than weight loss (already doing some but def hasn’t been the focus)

On another note who is freezing? I’m wearing thermals, loads of layers and hair can’t get warm!

WishItWasDifferent25 · 27/11/2025 21:48

So swiftdoctor has Black Friday deals. Which feels a bit dubious in many ways - feels like it encourages something I’m not sure I like. But obviously I got over that and bought my next one immediately…!

I was looking at my diary and thinking just how many occasions I will be called upon to eat a LOT. It does make me feel a bit uncomfortable as I really don’t want to start regaining or have that awful January let’s start a diet thing like Merida mentions. But none of us have been through this time of year before. And it feels hard!

So I had this over the Jewish festivals. I doubled my dose for those weeks (ie I took 2.5mg twice a week instead of once) and I just didn’t eat much even when it was basically socially required. Just said - oh don’t feel dessert. Or just fish and veg for me, no rice. It did work. I lost weight.

WishItWasDifferent25 · 27/11/2025 22:26

I completely understand that and will almost certainly do the same. But is that what life looks like now? Upping the dose to cope with Christmas? I suspect it is… Am I ok with that? Instinct is yes…. But forever?

Hi! Can I join please? I started 8th July. I'm going slow and steady and happy to be plodding along nicely. Loving the lack of food noise. Still on 5mg (well 4mg every 5 days). This is the most successful I've ever been when trying to lose weight! I'm so pleased I took the chance to use this medication.

Today I say a 10 on the scale for the 1st time in 30 years!! 🎉 Feeling very happy with myself. Still about 21lbs to go though-I'm a shorty.

Female
53 yrs
Height 5'1"
SW 13st 3.6lbs
CW 10st 12.8lbs
TW 9st 6lbs.

Welcome. We should prob do a roll call to see who is still here.

I started on 3 July. My motivation was mainly that I’d yo you dieted and now since peri menopause was stuck at 72kg with cholesterol that’s crept up. I’ve been weight lifting throughout (AMA about weight lifting 😀) now at maintenance 58kg still taking 2.5mg.

i’m 51 years old 163cm.

AmberLime · 29/11/2025 22:40

I'm here. I follow but rarely post

Start date 22.07.25 (first date of summer holidays) - 17st 11
Current -13st 12 (very nearly 4 stone)

7.5mg per week from my second 10mg pen. I have an unused 12.5mg in the fridge. I bulk bought in August. Getting ready to order a 15mg pen, but plan to stay on 7.5mg and make it last 9+ weeks.

I plan to keep changing suppliers, ordering every 6-8 weeks or so but making it last and build up a stock.

ByLemonFish · 30/11/2025 12:34

Hello everyone
I started last weekend in May, so joined this thread at the beginning
I hoped to be at target weight by now but haven't been great since clocks changed, although I have had a loss each week, so not complaining.
I increased to 7.5mg last week, we had a fondue with sourdough bread yesterday and I didn't feel too well from about 2am.
I'm 10lbs away from target, 3 stone lighter than I was last Christmas

SW 12st 7lbs
CW 10st 10lbs
TW 10st.

GlowGetter · 01/12/2025 18:39

Started on 29th June
SW 16st 11lb
CW 14st 4lb
The weeks I have been on holiday have been slight gains but otherwise I've lost each week. Currently on 5mg but moving up to 7.5mg this week as weight loss and surpression currently stalled and I want to be in the 13's by Christmas. Think I'm going to be around well into next year.

LakeFlyPie · 01/12/2025 20:46

Still here!
Started in July and managed well on 2.5mg for a couple of months. Had a 6 week break for a hip replacement op in Sept and restarted 2.5mg for a month and have now moved up to 3.75mg (will eke out a 5mg pen).
I struggled terribly with constipation for the 1st couple of months but have been fine since restarting - even on the increased dose. I had also changed my HRT from oral to patches in July and am wondering if that caused the gut issues 🤷
Am planning to take a break over Christmas / NY for a holiday abroad and then back on in Jan.
It's been amazing to turn off the food noise, 1st time in my adult life I've been able to consistently avoid evening snacking.
SW 85kg
CW 76kg
TW 70kg (maybe 65 after that)

MeridaBrave · 04/12/2025 21:51

Just starting pen 4. It’s also 5mg. Although I’ll be pushing it well beyond 30 days I decided to titrate down to 2mg, that’s 24 clicks.

i don’t want to stop taking as I’m loving that I can maintain without counting calories or otherwise driving myself mad. After this pen I have one more so I guess with that the aim will be 18 clicks ie 1.5mg. After that I’ll have to go down to a 2.5mg pen as I’ll have a break.

WishItWasDifferent25 · 06/12/2025 21:08

I’m still here.
SW 83kg
CW 65kg

No idea what target is. Probably this kind of weight really. Not thrilled with post weight loss body which is a bit saggy and new fun thing is that my varicose veins are so much more visible now there isn’t much fat covering them!! On the plus side carrying less weight means I can run again which is wonderful for my head though probs not my veins.

I am struggling with maintenance to be honest. Sometimes I am overcome with hunger and other days I’ve no interest. I realise I am petrified at the thought of the weight coming back. I don’t want to obsess but it’s hard not to. I am currently on the same dose but injecting every five days which is just about manageable!

I’m also scared of weight coming back.
I just reduced this week to 2mg…

I am very happy with new body (I look totally ripped), I did a gym photoshoot, put it on Instagram and now I get people coming up to me asking me how I did it (and I don’t want to admit to the jabs)…!!

Even today - a random person approached me in the gym and said I have an amazing physique (literally happens on every visit) and someome
approached me on the street and said they friended me on Facebook and saw my photos and they are amazing. I feel under pressure to stay ripped!!

WishItWasDifferent25 · 09/12/2025 21:31

I am the complete opposite. People rarely notice unless I am literally clad in Lycra. I think because I’m tall and have got used to standing well and dressing well it’s just not that noticeable. In some ways this is a relief but in others I’m a bit, come on, surely you can see the difference. I freely admit to jab use. Mainly because I don’t want anyone to think they are a bad thing if they were interested themselves. I figure I’ve still done the work, just had a hand.

in other news I’ve just eaten a bag of chocolate coins and now I feel very sick. It’s helpful to have these reminders!

stormageddmum · 17/12/2025 12:51

Only one bugger has noticed my weight loss - even my husband hasn't commented! But he is still mildly disapproving of the jabs I think. I just don't bring it up. I think people are too polite to say these days - you can definitely tell.

Still have about a year to go as I'm plodding. Last weighed 2 weeks ago due to Christmas food but still suppressed enough on 3.75 - actually came on to say that I have switched suppliers (as I do every order to get the discounts) and Hey Slim chucked a month's supply of berberine patches in with my package. So giving them a go today. They were OK, not many photos needed. It's a faff when they want you to film stuff or have a call.

Chittychittychocchoc · 04/01/2026 11:13

Anyone still here? I dropped down dose to 2.5 over Christmas and relaxed a bit but back up to 3.75 today.

Put on a couple of pounds, but was pretty much at target before that. Have about half a stone to lose and then need to think about maintenance. How did everyone else fair over Christmas?

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 04/01/2026 11:22

I'm still around, mostly posting in the 10 stone or more to lose thread though. Gained 0.8kg over Christmas but then lost 1.9kg this week so all my gain plus some! I was on 3.25mg for a while but have now gone up to 5mg and finding it really good. Trying to keep my dose as low as possible for cost reasons as much as anything but also want to make sure I'm on a high enough dose to get the impact and make it worth spending the money!

MeridaBrave · 04/01/2026 19:14

I’m still taking, 2.5mg, gained 1.5kg as out of routine over Christmas will get back onto it from tomorrow.

WishItWasDifferent25 · 04/01/2026 20:19

I have been horrendously ill for a couple of weeks and the scales say I’m down another few kg. I have chrons disease, had a flare and basically didn’t digest anything for a fair while. I’m annoyed as I feel weak and flabby from too fast weight loss and now feel like I need to gain some back just in case it happens again soon.

Academicallyminded · 09/01/2026 14:13

Hello all, I'm still here! On 5mg, maintaining - which over the Christmas period - has never happened before. I'm close to where I want to be, but am terrified of coming off them. Am thinking I might finish this 5mg pen (3 more doses) and then begin to titrate down from 3.75 to 2.5 and eventually stop.

I am still a "secret jabber" - have only told four close friends, three of who are on it. My partner (we don't live together) doesn't know. SO much misinformation and judgment about WLI, especially on the general MN threads!

I thought this was a really balanced take on obesity and weight loss.
