Just kicking off another thousand posts of encouragement and support!

Old thread: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight-loss-injections/5378622-mournjaro-july-starters-2nd-thread

@MeridaBrave what an arsehole! Exactly why I keep quiet too. We live in a very well researched bubble - most people still only know Ozempic and Sharon Osborne. Lots of young 20 somethings where I work only know it as something illegal you buy - I've heard it's sold in clubs! 😅 In which case they are doing clubbing all wrong these days...

Mournjaro July Starters 2nd thread | Mumsnet

New thread. First post re: lifting heavy. I mentioned on the other thread about lifting heavy for 6-8 reps and I was told it was bad advice. Clearly...

Hi, everyone
I didn't take mounjaro Christmas week, decided I wanted to enjoy all the yummy food and drink. Felt quite unwell boxing day morning lol. Probably too much alcohol after hardly any for so long. I put on 7lbs by January 1st but have lost it again so happy enough.
I have about 8lbs to get to target weight. I'm on 5mg, found 7.5mg made me feel a bit strange plus it's very expensive
Hoping I'll soon be at target weigh of 10st, taken a bit longer than I expected
Sorted through my wardrobe at weekend, not much left that fits me but I'm not complaining. I asked for Next vouchers for Christmas. It's a long time since I was a size 12
Not sure whether to go it alone when I get to target or to go on a low dose

GlowGetter · 14/01/2026 09:01

I'm still here and I've got a while to go yet. This thread is very quiet so I'm guessing a lot of people either got to target or gave up maybe when the prices hiked. Let me know I'm not alone!

ByLemonFish · 14/01/2026 09:35

Yes maybe people did give up when prices increased. My daughter was telling me alot of her friends have stopped using it for that reason

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 14/01/2026 09:42

I haven't given up or stopped, 4.5 stone down and at least as much to go, but tend to post on the 10 stone or more to lose thread rather than this one as everyone seemed to have disappeared and I felt like I was talking to myself!

MeridaBrave · 14/01/2026 16:07

I’m also here. Maintaining. Weight crept up by 1kg. Prob need to have a couple of strict weeks.

AmberLime · 14/01/2026 19:51

I'm here

4 1/2 stone gone, 3st to go. On 7.5mg thinking ill move up to 10mg though. I am on my last pen of the stockpile I bought at the end of August. No issue with buying a new pen, I just saved the boxes with all the prescription stickers on and showed them.

WishItWasDifferent25 · 14/01/2026 20:14

I’m still here. As above was pretty ill over Christmas and that knocked me right off. I have ended up at a lower weight than I thought possible but now have a truly awful relationship with food. I’ve not got much appetite for anything other than pure crap. I’m still on a low dose and have a lower appetite overall but it’s certainly fair to say this hasn’t made me develop better habits. It just keeps it under control so I don’t eat too much, but I certainly don’t eat well…

stormageddmum · 14/01/2026 20:43

Still going! I also had that awful flu that's been going around over Christmas. Hadn't planned to skip a week but did just to try and avoid getting more run down. Gained about 4lb over 3 weeks which I have now lost but still plodding. 'Only' lost 1st 12 since July as am a plodder, but on 5mg now and realised my suppression was not that good on 3.75mg after all. Definitely a bit of nausea on 5 - gone right off some foods like soup and pasta.

I’m still here, and had a significant non weight victory today. My GPs office texted me that I’m down to pre-diabetic blood sugar levels, and they want to review my empagliflozin prescription. 💃
SW. 91kg
CW. 75kg
163 cm, 58yrs

Muppies65 · 22/01/2026 18:49

Started journey 1st July my first post was 30/6 scared stiff about starting this medication, thank goodness I did SW was 16st 10 with terrible blood test results pre diabetic , etc high cholesterol CW 12st 13 TW 11st 11 had bloods took today and looking forward to better results.
Not been a breeze had chronic constipation at times and plateaued several times, Kombucha, Electrolytes and Water got things moving again good luck to those still on journey

Academicallyminded · 22/01/2026 20:42

I'm in the ballpark I want to be in (CW 64.5kg, BMI - 24). I did this fairly slowly - on 2.5 mg for the first two months and then 5mg for the next four. I can get into all my clothes again. I have more energy. I am lifting more weights, and getting further in yoga. So all good! I am terrified of putting it back on again, but have decided I need to wean myself off, so titrated down to 2.5mg (from a 5mg pen) today, and will keep this going until the pen runs out. I will have to see if I manage to maintain on that, and then go off them altogether.

@MeridaBrave and others who have reached goal and are maintaining, are you maintaining with a microdose or 2.5 or have you gone off MJ altogether?

I’m still taking - I get 11 doses from a 5mg pen, so at £165 a pen it’s quite affordable: when the new smaller pens come I’ll cut down to keep it at 11/12 doses. I might take a break at some point. Not sure.

Thanks, MerdidaBrave - so you're doing 30 clicks or so per shot on a 5mg pen? Are you still with Swift? Are you able to stretch purchases to every three months? I have three 2.5 doses left in my current 5mg pen, and two 5 mg pens in stock. I don't want to stock too many as I do want to wean myself off eventually. Cost is affordable, but I'm worried about the implications of staying on it long-term. (p.s. if you are with Swift, if you don't already know, the code SDR5 will get you £5 off each time).

Yes 30 clicks. I’m stretching purchases to every 8 weeks - that’s the most they allow - so I’m a little ahead.

I'm maintaining and still taking Wegovy every week. 1mg though. I wouldn't say it is doing much. I would say I have reverted to all appalling food habits as before. I literally ate mentos and a box of chocs for lunch. I would say that, appalling food aside, I am not eating too many calories overall. So I'm not gaining. But any notion I have learnt better habits is utter nonsense! If I take the next pen up I have less food noise, but too much supression really. Don't want to lose any more weight. If I stopped then I am convinced it would pile back on. Really not sure what happens next other than continue like this!

I get where you are coming from @WishItWasDifferent25, I did find that the jabs occasionally allowed me to eat some crap (M & S mint crumbles, pot noodles, and far too much wine over the Christmas period!) without the usual consequences on the scales (and guilt). I didn't lose when I did that, but atleast I didn't put on weight. Perhaps instead of beating yourself up about a few bad food choices, just focus on the larger life style changes - regular exercise that becomes a habit, eating regular small portions of healthy protein-rich meals 90% of the time, not stocking the trigger crap foods etc. I am doing this, and am hoping to maintain on it as I don't want to be on the jabs long-term, but I also don't want to regain it all when I stop. Good luck!

Academicallyminded · 26/01/2026 17:15

Anyone else face this? Since I've lost the weight (and reduce fat %), the injections to my thighs are beginning to bruise/hurt for days. This has only started being an issue for the last two weeks. I guess this is because I'm injecting into my muscles now and not fat? I have been a little scared of injecting into my stomach. Any suggestions for best injection sites for maintenance?

Overtheatlantic · 26/01/2026 19:18

I’ve always injected into my stomach without any pain, although I’ve bruised a couple of times. I think the thought of injecting in the stomach can make some of us a bit queasy but the reality is absolutely fine.

Thank you, I have been a bit squeamish about it, but I'll give it a go!

AmberLime · 15/02/2026 09:02

I appreciate I have more to lose than many on this thread, but wanted to share a massive scale victory for me today - my BMI is 29.7 - I am finally no longer obese.

5 1/2 stone gone since July, minimum of 2st to go to get to healthy, but aiming for 3st more. Which feels entirely doable.

My NSV is that my wedding ring fits again. Its been too small for round 5 years. Instead of resizing I swapped it gir my larger eternity ring. But my wedding band fits again now, which feels special.

GlowGetter · 17/02/2026 15:14

@AmberLime Congratulations! My next target is to be overweight and not obsese so I feel your joy.
