I was having a cupboard clear out and had a box of Kellogg's Crunchy Nut cornflakes that were approaching BBE date so thought I'd give them a go.

Oh they are lovely 😋 and had with a chopped banana 🍌 the last 3 days.

But bloody hell 😮, each day 2 hours later I am starving and clock watching to lunch which has been unlike me for a very long time now (since Mounjaro)! I am usually not starving even if I've been busy/late and skipped breakfast altogether!

Fair to say breakfast cereal will remain off the shopping list and back to protein yoghurts 🥣 / eggs 🍳 / bacon 🥓 type breakfasts instead!

10 minutes until lunchtime................🕛

MooBaggage · 07/11/2025 14:07

OMG @WeAllHaveWings I had exactly the same experience last weekend! Had some cereal for the first time in ages and was starving hungry within a couple of hours - way more hungry than if I hadn't eaten! It was really weird. I think eating carbs just makes me want to eat more carbs... 🙄

OP posts:
InfoSecInTheCity · 07/11/2025 14:14

I noticed this when i was away for work, I tried to choose well but there’s only so much steak and greenbeans a person can eat and that was the default option available on all the buffets besides bread rolls, pasta, potatoes and meat cooked in very very sugary sauces.

gimmemounjaro · 07/11/2025 14:35

I have just had some Pringles (saw a new flavour, wanted to try one or two, ate half a packet 🤦‍♀️). And immediately fell asleep! Quite amazing the effect carbs can have when you’re not so used to them.

QueenOfHiraeth · 07/11/2025 18:55

I agree that carbs are a vicious circle. I'm still stressed and rushing about like a headless chicken so am not eating as well, feeling nauseous and hungry, snacking on carbs and repeat. I might reduce my dose for a week or two to see if that helps or makes things worse

GoingDownDown · 07/11/2025 19:51

Argh, I’d left ordering my next pen until the last minute while I prevaricated about the price and whether to switch to Wegovy. Decided to use a new supplier to get a discount. They’ve managed to send me through to the checkout displaying the discounted price but charge me the full price. I didn’t want to go ahead with all the photos etc until they have this sorted, so now I can’t see it being issued in time. Why does everything have to be so complicated!

WeAllHaveWings · 07/11/2025 20:57

Agree with you all, eating lower carb for so long, and being more aware than ever before, really does put the spotlight on the pitfalls that got me obese in the first place and why. Knowledge is power 💪, especially through experience and feeling the effects so clearly now.

@InfoSecInTheCity I've just got a standing desk - delivered yesterday - and am already in love with it! I slouch a lot when I'm sitting and often have hours of back to back meetings, so being able to stand up for even every other meeting is brilliant today. It's got automatic settings for standing/sitting based on where I want them to be - it's ace - might help?

The ultimate aim is to use my walking pad whilst standing during (long, boring) meetings - but I've lost the sodding remote control to the walking pad (it's been that long since I used it..!), so am defeated at the moment 🙄

I'm after a walking pad
Do you recommend yours

Icyzebra3 · 08/11/2025 02:34

I can't remember when I last posted,but I'm still 9 stone 5 pounds down.
I think I'm quite lazy and if I actually took exercise seriously I'd loose more .
It feels wonderful wearing my size 20 gillet and size 20 Jeans ,the waist seems so small from a size 32 .
I'm thinking 3 more stone off would probably get me to a size 16 ..which I'd currently be happy with ...
Monjroro has literally saved my life

MooBaggage · 08/11/2025 09:46

@Icyzebra3 yes I recommend it, but am so lazy I still can't find the remote control for mine because it's been so long since I used it! But yes, it was good to use while I was watching telly!

You've done so amazingly well with your weight loss 😍 I'd also like to lose another 3 stone - it's much slower now, so I think will take another 9 - 12 months, which I'm OK with. Just to maintain my current weight loss is bloody miraculous, so losing 1lb every week or two is great.

OP posts:
gimmemounjaro · 08/11/2025 10:32

Weigh day for me after 13 weeks of maintenance:

SW: 241.2 / 17st 3 / 35.6 BMI
CW: 153.4 / 10st 13 / 22.7 BMI
GW: remain in 150s, or maybe drift down to 147ish

An ok week, last couple of days have been a reminder not to get complacent, with a few odd urges, some of which snuck up and took me by surprise (looking at you, smoky bacon Pringles). I feel like I need to get a bit more on top of things for a few days so will be checking in with my notes and goals. And Pringles will have to go on the ‘never again’ list I think. I just could not stop - and felt so rough afterwards.

Currently on 6mg and have reduced omeprazole to 5x pw instead of every day. I would love to get off it altogether.

Yesterday I bought what might be my last pen if things go well - planning to work my way through my stash now and if all goes well, try coming off MJ next year 🤞

So I should embrace the tricky days really, as learning to manage those without panicking will be the difference between long-term success and failure I reckon, whether I come off MJ completely or not.

Reginaphalangeeeee · 08/11/2025 10:39

All this talk of carbs rings true! For me, it’s bread. Just a small amount of fresh bread with butter leaves me powerless to more. I love it so much and want to enjoy it but then not crave it. I am not sure I can ever find this balance.

For me, morning fasting until lunch does help curb my hunger. I have to avoid warm toast at all costs!!!!

Weight loss really slowed to 2kg a month (if lucky) last few months with several
stalls. A loss of 0.5kg this week but for some reason everyone is now noticing my weight loss. I mean I can’t see nor feel a drastic change. Clothes the same and not overly loose, just right. I had so many comments this week.

UnimaginableWindBird · 08/11/2025 10:55

I've started buying Jason's protein sourdough which is proper nice bread but a slice has 11.7g protein and 3g fibre. I generally have a bean-based lunch (lentil soup, bean stew, dal etc) and on days when I've been lifting weights before lunch I'm extra hungry so I add a slice of the bread to my meal and it is exactly what I need. If I use it for cheesy beans on toast with reduced fat cheese I can hit my target of 30g protein and 10g fibre in quick and easy comfort food which is very handy to remember for days when cooking is too much hassle.

gimmemounjaro · 08/11/2025 12:27

I have just discovered the green Jason’s, the wholemeal one, absolutely delicious and I’ve just had some for lunch. Seeds and grains also nice though, that was my previous fave.

GiveMeWordGames · 08/11/2025 12:47

The Jason's bread range is dangerous excellent. 😁 I haven't cut carbs (or treats) completely but I haven't had just toast and spread for breakfast for ages. I'll have a bit of toast with eggs though, and get my marmite fix that way.

It's great that people are starting to notice @Reginaphalangeeeee

Another neat 1lb loss this week 😁.................only 4lbs left to go until "normal" so excited 😃

Tried to go for a short walk today but hip sore and knee was giving way after just a 100 or so very slow metres, I've got an appointment with the fracture clinic on Wednesday so might take up their offer of a ankle fracture boot to see if it helps me to get around outside (I'm fine in the house).

@gimmemounjaro my reflux has been back this week, but I think it has been down to trying too many acidic trigger foods again and it is taking a while to settle. I may need to accept I need to mostly avoid them, only eat in very small quantities now or have a bottle of Gaviscon ready for after! - some of mine are -Greek yoghurt, tomatoes, Rhubarb - my favourite since childhood 😔, acidic/tart fruit which I love triggers it - especially raspberries, kiwi, cranberries, pineapple (I stick to bananas, less acidic red/sweet apples, melon, pears usually). I can only have very small portions of cheese at a time

I really wanted to get natural Greek yoghurt to work for me but regretting trying it again...on a good note Arla protein yoghurts in a tub have changed from quark to yoghurt (had them as a tesco substitute for the pouches) and they are much nicer than before.

It's slow for me to
I think I'm coming up to a year on mj now ,approx.
In the spring I aim to join a gym And ween myself of the jabs .
I'd join one now ,if I the only time I can go wasn't 6 am
I just know on a cold winter morning ,I'm just not going to get up to go .
But with lighter mornings I think I would.
I am so scared I'm going to put the weight back on ..I'm so careful what I eat ,,,I've made so many changes..but I had 30 years of bad habits to break ,against one year of good choices .

Mounjaronewbie25 · 08/11/2025 15:26

Hi all it’s been a long time from I’ve been on here! I’ve been (unintentionally) maintaining my weight since July. I’m bouncing up and down between 10st13 and 11st2. Suppose it’s good that I’m not re-gaining weight but can’t seem to get any lower either. My BMI is 26 so still have more to lose. Currently on 15mg and have been for several months. I will admit my diet could be better and I don’t do any exercise so sorting that may kickstart things again!
Trying to be positive as I lost weight very quickly in the beginning and am 5 &1/2 stone down, so maintaining around this weight for a while might be good for my now very crepey/ loose skin.
Annoyingly my fingers seem to have shrunk again since July (but the rest of me hasn’t) my rings keep falling off and I had them resized back in June! So random pity you can’t control where it comes off 🤣 a bit extra off my belly and boobs would be nice thanks lol.

ravingandbehaving · 08/11/2025 15:54

Hi everyone. I hope I'm ok just to jump on. My first order of Wegovy (mainly due to it being more affordable than MJ) is being delivered tomorrow. Does anyone have any tips? Excited but nervous.

Started the year at 16st 9lbs. Lost just over a stone through diet and exercise but it's so slow going. Start weight around 15 and half stone, will weigh in properly tomorrow and take measurements.

Welcome!

my biggest tips would be:

  • water and sleep are important get plenty
  • Dont chase the lowest possible number of calories, calculate your TDEE and eat 500 below that. Starving yourself will make you feel poorly and won’t ultimately actually help.
  • focus on protein, fibre and fat, carbs should be the good kind with whole grains and seeds and try to pair them with a protein like peanut butter on toast. Carbs aren’t evil but they do retain water and cause you to feel hungry.
  • For at least the first couple of weeks be vigilant about weighting and measuring your food to keep a good track of your calories, you might not want to count calories forever but doing it for a little while helps you to really know what a portion looks like and how much you’re eating a day.
  • start doing some kind of exercise, it doesn’t have to be fancy, a good brisk walk is great, some of us have hand weights and do arm exercises and squats while the kettle is boiling, if you like swimming get back to the pool. Anything is better than nothing.

Thank you! I am really excited.

I'm terrible at drinking enough water so will really work at this. Sleep... I have two toddlers that barely sleep but I will really try!

I'll work out my TDEE and have a look into all that now. I've tried every diet in the past and am pretty accurate at calorie counting but it's consistency and binge eating (sugar) I struggle with. Hoping this really helps with that.

Luckily I am already quite active so that shouldn't be too hard. I go to the gym a few times a week and usually do 10-12k steps a day. Having 3 young children and a dog is great for activity! I just eat far too much. Generally my actual meals are very nutritious, just portions way too large and I snack and binge eat! I'm feeling really optimistic after years of failure. The lowest weight I've been as an adult was 10 years ago now, and I was still 13st so still a BMI of 28.

I'd like to lose 5 stone so I then have a 1st buffer to still be within a healthy BMI in case I struggle when trying to maintain.

Really hoping this is the way forward for me!

WeAllHaveWings · 08/11/2025 19:18

@ravingandbehaving if you haven’t before, try a water reminder app to prompt you hourly to drink. I found it really helpful in the beginning. If you struggle with 2L or more, work up to it slowly over a couple of weeks. You’ll be surprised how easy it becomes.

I have always been a lover of very well chilled water, but found it is much easier to drink more when it is at room temperature.

Good luck with your journey, more and more of us have been where you are today, not convinced it will be possible or we could do it and we are still here as big losers and some now working on maintaining!

In app store ?
I could do with a water reminder

Plenty of good ideas on this thread ,glad I joined

WeAllHaveWings · 08/11/2025 20:31

@Icyzebra3I just used the one in Apple App Store called water reminder, used the free version and just tracked water. It send me reminders every hour. It also sends/allows you to log any water on Apple Watch if you have one
