I have quite a bit of loose skin and it's really not pretty, however it's only to be expected since I started at 15st 13lbs at the end of December and am now at 10st 4lbs and quite close to a normal BMI.
I have a relative who is extremely morbidly obese but has managed to convince themselves that all the loose skin they would likely have is not worth the weight loss. I just want to shake some sense into them! What I would say to anyone that is scared of having lots of loose skin is that it is totally outweighed (no pun intended!) by such an incredible feeling of lightness in one's own body when you do such mundane things such as getting out of bed or running up (and down) stairs, bending over without a huge gut in the way etc. The loose skin is hidden by clothes most of the time so really not a problem.

I know it's not a cheap option but I have had great success with The Elevator from Trinny London on my neck. I have used it religiously now for the last 6 months and there's a very noticeable improvement. I'm also using the Nivea Q10 (over 60 one) all over the rest of my body, and am hopeful with time this will improve too.

In short, however bad it looks, I would never choose to keep the weight over a bit of loose skin. 😀

My Apple Watch just told me to tighten my strap so it can get a better reading on my heart rate. There’s a non scale victory right there!!

Exactly that, loose skin is a bit annoying but soooooo much better than lots of fat. I don’t believe that anyone would know that under the outfit in this picture I look like a melted candle. So it’s hideable.

looking properly gorgeous there @InfoSecInTheCity - amazing figure!!

eleanorwish · 24/10/2025 16:04

I’ve hit a bit of a plateau. I’ve only lost 8lbs since July.
I’m down to 12st 2 ish (from 15st 3), and been hovering around that weight for about a month now. Jab time this evening, so I’m going up to 12.5mg Mounjaro, as the food noise has been creeping back on 10mg. Only about 1 to 2 lbs to go before I’m officially overweight rather than obese

WeAllHaveWings · 24/10/2025 17:06

On the topic of loose skin. I am mid 50s, post menopause, I have been on/off severely/morbidly obese for probably close to 3 decades. So my skin has been stretched to its limits and collagen, elasticity or whatever is needed to ping back is limited at my age. I've lost over 9st which is erm a "significant" amount of weight, another whole person really has exited my skin, so the result is not pretty.

It is head to toe. From jowls, crinkly neck down to skin creasing around ankles and heavily flopping above knees. Having a B-belly I have the pleasure of two overhangs now which I can kneed like soft dough, then add my deflated crinkly boobs - it is a three tier disaster when naked.

But I've got better health which is priceless. Clothed, I need a well fitting bra and clothes that drape/swing/a-line to disguise my stomachs, then if I don't look too closely my body looks so much better than it did before, I'll catch my slimmer reflection briefly in a window when out and feel good. I'll maybe look at shapewear for special occasions, but not interested in being uncomfortable day to day.

The bits that annoy me the most are the bits I can't hide under clothes. The jowls, sagging cheeks and crinkly neck. I see my late mum when she was well into her 70s when I look in the mirror and try to think, it's not great, but maybe I'll maybe get to my 70s now! I'll see my toddler great-niece grow up, perhaps will be blessed with grandchildren and can be more active for them - I'll take all that over loose skin any day!

Deverana · 24/10/2025 19:44

Thanks for the new thread. I’ve been lurking for a while. 😊
I’m on wegovy week 30. I’ve remained on 1mg wegovy for a few months with slow but fairly steady loss.
Starting weight 120kg, current weight 97kg. Goal weight tbd.

alltablenochairs · 25/10/2025 09:41

Today is the day I nailed it. I'm now at my lightest weight in at least 16 years- I now weigh less than I did at my booking appointment with my firstborn. This was my original goal for MJ- if I could get down to 94kg then I was done.
I'm not though. I've still got a long way to go. My next interim goal is 88.5kg as this is the lightest I can ever imagine myself being.

As its just me in the house today I'll probably celebrate with some absolutely rubbish TV, my heated blanket and probably a cat on my lap as well.

GiveMeWordGames · 25/10/2025 10:03

That's fantastic @alltablenochairs . Really well done, what an achievement. And hello @Deverana ! 23 kg in 30 weeks is pretty good going! You must have started around the same time as me.

Regarding skin, I have definitely got a bit of turkey neck, and crinkliness at the tops of my arms and above my knees but the Q10 is helping.

Now. I've realised there is a term which is used all the time when talking about MJ that I'm not sure I properly understand. Inflammation.

I would say I'm fairly medically literate, just through geekiness or dealing with relatives' health issues. But when someone says "inflammation" I think of very obvious things like an infected wound, a twisted ankle that's swollen, arthritic joints etc. Or, my Mum has IBD (Crohns) and when she's had flare ups that means pain and other big symptoms. So when people talk about generalised 'inflammation' that MJ reduces I don't really know what that means. If I'm otherwise healthy, besides the weight, what's inflamed?

I'm not pondering this out of boredom 😁 but because as my goal range gets closer I'm starting to think when I should start titrating down and moving towards stopping. And should I first get to the lower end of my goal range to allow for a small immediate weight rebound because of inflammation/water weight returning? And then I thought, well what the hell IS that, exactly?!!

Any enlightenment from you lovely, well-informed lot welcomed. 😀

I've messaged you privately r.e. the inflammation. But in short I've experienced this myself.

Couple of Zoe podcast eps about inflammation for you..

Ooh, cheers @gimmemounjaro I used to follow Zoe/Tim Spector back in covid days but rather drifted away after that.

Ooh, cheers @gimmemounjaro I used to follow Zoe/Tim Spector back in covid days but rather drifted away after that.

I find them a bit annoying after a bit I must say - but the science is tip top and they get great guests on the podcast.

GiveMeWordGames · 25/10/2025 13:57

@gimmemounjaro yes, I don't think I could listen to them a lot but particularly that second one you linked to is very clear on the science without being patronising and it's a lot clearer to me now (eg that all my examples were acute inflammation, versus chronic).

gimmemounjaro · 25/10/2025 20:46

Weigh day for me today after 11 weeks of maintenance, can’t believe where the time has gone 🤯

SW: 241.2 / 17st 3 / BMI 35.6
CW: 152.5 / 10st 12 / BMI 22.5
GW: remain in the 150s

Another week of ticking along, pretty drama free. Actually life is quite trying at the moment and I’ve just realised I’m not reaching for food to get me through as I once would have. I’m taking that as an NSV.

Still reducing the dose, down to 6.5mg so far and will try 6.3mg next week I think. I don’t know how much of this relatively (and surprisingly) stress-free maintenance is the MJ but I’ll find out soon enough I guess 😬

I am tending to find myself towards the bottom of my Zone of Acceptability (150-159lbs) so I’m thinking about lowering it a little - 147 would be bang in the middle of healthy BMI so maybe 140-153 (10st something) would be good.

Happy weekends and continuing success to all 💪

Thanks for a new thread.
Time to update the stats:

I’ve been doing this since the beginning of June. I just bought a jacket from Joules in size 14!! I was 24/26 in June. Mostly I’m now 16/18 so the jacket was a lovely boost.

MooBaggage · 27/10/2025 07:44

@alltablenochairs Congratulations!! What a moment - I bet you were quite emotional 💕 Brilliant milestone to have achieved and I love that the goals were thought were the 'ultimate' turn out to be a step along the way to where we actually would love to be but didn't dare believe it. I've got one of those - my original ultimate goal is only 1 stone away now and I already know I want to go 2 stone past it.

MooBaggage · 27/10/2025 07:52

1lb down for me today:

13.1.25 SW 20st 3lbs BMI 43
27.10.25 CW 14st 10lbs BMI 31.3

So that's 5 1/2 stone loss - hurrah!

Next stop, to get into the BMI 30s and it will be good to hit a nice round number of 80lbs loss - maybe next week (more likely the week after!).

I'm sticking with 10mg dose, which seems to be doing the trick without many side effects now - I did get some feelings of nausea when I moved up to 10mg 3 weeks ago, but that's settled down now, so I'm hoping I can stick to 10mg for at least the next 6 - 12 months as my maximum dose.

Morning
I saw your thread ,and thought I'd join .
I've 5 stone to loose .then I'm at my target.
I've already lost over 9 stone
It's going well
Tiny bit of loose skin on my neck ,but ok elsewhere

MooBaggage · 27/10/2025 08:04

@Icyzebra3 👋 That's an amazing loss so far! Are you on MJ and how long has it taken you? You must feel so different with 9 stone off - and pretty much 2/3 of the way there - keep going..!

Thankyou
Tbh ..it's a bit embarrassing,I feel ashamed I let myself get that big ..things were very difficult with the DC , expelled from school and two with SEN and disabilities..so when I wasn't able to keep going to the gym and was stuck at home 24/7 with no exercise and depression..I ate and ate ..
So been on mj about 11 months now ..it's literally saved my life .
I was due to have WLS with NHS ,but they said once I'd lost 8 stone they wouldn't do it ..so I'm very happy to not have that done

GiveMeWordGames · 27/10/2025 09:41

Hello @Icyzebra3 and that's an incredible loss so far, well done. The difference already must be dramatic - onwards and downwards, as moo baggage says. And well done on reaching 5.5 stone off @MooBaggage and being so close to 'just' overweight. Excellent! I loved hitting that particular milestone.

Jab day today. 10mg seems to be working well now - 2.25lb off since last Tuesday.
After 31 weeks.

SW 17st 4
CW 12st 11.5
GW 11-12st

My NSV is, a few weeks ago I bought "ahead" some size 14 Sienna straight jeans from M&S, as I had a Sparks 20% offer about to expire. I knew they wouldn't fit and I was right. Yesterday I tried them again and although they're still not quite comfy enough on the waist to be genuinely wearable I could do them up and they fit my legs fine. I've also bought a few size 14 tops from Vinted and Roman and everything either fits or is close to fitting.

It was realising my much loved pair of size 20 Siennas were relentlessly becoming too tight that helped push me towards starting mounjaro and I am SO GLAD.
