Oh God I think I'm entering a vain phase for the first time in my life - has this happened to anyone else..?!

I've booked an optician's appt for contact lenses next week - gave up wearing them years ago, but now I want to re-try them - and I've got sooooo many more clothes (obvs thank you Vinted) than I've ever had in my life. I literally had 4 x tops last year which were exactly the same, just in 4 different colours. That was it - they were size 26 and covered me up. Now, I've got a trillion different styles and colours and different types of jeans/cords/skirts. I am becoming someone I didn't know I was....

It's fun, but weird...? I used to take the piss out of dp for having 10 x more clothes than I had, but am catching up fast....! My excuse at the moment is that I do need more clothes because my size keeps changing - but I just love having lots of choice and seeing how I look in different things 🙈

I've gone the opposite way
I was a size 32 for many years ..and bought all my clothes in the sale in plus size shops ...there was always huge bargains to be had in that size ..so I had so much choice and so many different styles ..I think trying to find what I felt good in and not feeling good so buying more and more .
Now I'm currently in a size 20, which to me seems positively tiny , especially skinny jeans ,I hold them up and think they will never fit ,but they do .
And I just now have quite simple tastes ,just a few hoodies and couple of jeans and a few jumpers and a gillet ..it makes life so much easier not stressing about what to wear ,and not finding my wardrobe overwhelming .
I don't want to go back to piles of clothes that overwhelmed me .
It's your having fun choosing new ones @MooBaggage ,you enjoy it xx

I’m finally losing again, a kilo this week. The size 16 jeans I just bought are too big. I’ve just bought bras in a 38 e, but they are loose too.I had loads of clothes before, because they were too small and I looked awful so I was always trying to find something that worked. Now I tend to jeans and a jumper, reluctant to spend too much for short term clothes. I must buy a belt though. And I really want a pair of colourful gum sole suede trainers, good for a wide size 8 or 9. But I am
also becoming vain. I love the look of me naked. I’m 66, birthed 4 children but honestly I have a beautiful body, seems a shame it was buried for so long.

GoingDownDown · 31/10/2025 12:02

@AmberLime I have Renpho scales. You can just stand on them and read the weight, or connect to Bluetooth. I just open the app and press start measurement, then stand on the scales, and he can do the same on his phone.

I put on a couple of pounds on holiday, but lost them and another pound within a few days. Now officially 40% of the way to goal weight (not that I have any idea what goal would suit me, I just picked a number comfortably in the green BMI bracket!). I started weight loss in Feb, MJ in April, so it’s been slow but I’m feeling comfortable with that.

I don’t really look at my other scores - just looked at visceral fat and I’m down from 23 to 16!

I need to order a new pen. First since the price rise. Tempted to swap to wegovy, but feels risky, I know what to expect with MJ!

Yep. I got Botox to get rid of my 11 lines, I figured if I was finally actually going to experience being slim then I wanted a few years where I was both slim and non-wrinkly. Plus, working in cybersecurity where everybody keeps clicking on bloody links and giving away their passwords in inane social media ‘things about me, posts’ I spend a lot of time scowling 😂

HumBumBum · 31/10/2025 12:52

Love the fact that you love your body @Zebracat

I spent a few happy hours trying fabulous coats on at the shops yesterday (didn’t buy as skint, and not at target-weight), lots of fun to see what I look like in different shapes/colours. There was this amazing (fake) fur/suede reversible coat in Zara and a couple of women came to admire it when I was wearing it, telling me I had to buy it. Such a strange experience for a former Obese person!

I dreamed of that coat last night!

Icyzebra3 · 31/10/2025 17:34

Thankyou for the link ..thought I was going mad this thread wasn't showing anywhere

Icyzebra3 · 31/10/2025 17:36

It's not showing anywhere on my thread ..I'm having to go through the link ,on the thread I created to ask where this thread had gone ..how bizarre

Icyzebra3 · 31/10/2025 17:56

Oh ..I'd somehow clicked on hide thread ..I didn't even know there was a hide thread button

UnimaginableWindBird · 31/10/2025 21:49

Ooh, hello! I also have only just found the thread!

I have 1.8lb to go until I reach my first goal of losing 10% of my bodyweight.

Slowrunning · 01/11/2025 07:28

Just checking in on the new thread. I’ve not been active for the past couple of weeks and have been struggling a bit with snacking and associated gains.
I am so close to goal weight I think I’m having a bit of a wobble. Need to get my head back in the game and loose the last few pounds.

MooBaggage · 01/11/2025 08:55

Phew! I'm glad it's not just me 😁

Stupid scales hovered for seconds over the next lb down this morning before deciding they'd settle on my current weight 🙄 Hopefully next week will be the week - subject to how much gin I have tonight 😬

Weigh day for me after 12 weeks of maintenance:

SW: 241.2 / 17st 3 / BMI 35.6
CW: 152.7 / 10st 13 / BMI 22.5
GW: remain in 150s or maybe 145-155

Another drama-free week - work was crazy, many long days, snacks galore, stress through the roof, put on a pound and a half but lost it immediately with no effort whatsoever (in fact I was still on the M+S Jaffa cakes and caramel crispies right up to yesterday). I’m actually daring to hope that my body likes being this weight and is working with me to stay that way.

I am down to 6mg now from 15mg highest and 10mg for several months, thinking I’ll stay here for a month or so before continuing to reduce. But I might speed it up a bit if things go well. I am keen to get off MJ if I can, as my blood pressure is low and I think that’s causing a few problems, including making cardio exercise more difficult. So focusing on weights, yoga and tai chi for now and will hopefully pick up the running again in a few months. I hate running in the cold anyway and took last winter off 🥶

Adidas grand court platforms are what you're after, I have 2 pairs. They're very good. Loads on vinted too. Although I am a tiny 4.5/5 😂

I bought a pair of these this week - good discounts around at the mo, they were £49 I think.

Timetofindme · 01/11/2025 13:38

@NewbieMJ thanks! Scales now purchased. Was apparently still weighing the same this morning so picked up a bag of something weighing about 1lb and the scales weighed me 3lb heavier 😂 time for them to go 😂😂😂

WeAllHaveWings · 01/11/2025 15:46

Saturday check in - End of week - 71 (5 x 2.5mg, 53 x 3.75mg, 14 x 3.08mg)

SW - 21st 05lbs BMI 44.8
CW - 12st 03lbs BMI 25.6
TW - 11st 12lbs BMI 24.9 (normal BMI!)

Total loss - 9st 2lbs (128lbs), 42.8%

Losses (24H2) - 10,2,2,4,1,3,3,3,1,3,2,2,3,3,2,3,3,2,1,4,0,2,3,3,1,4,0 (avg 2.3)
Losses (25H1) - 0,3,2,1,3,1,1,0,2,3,3,-1,3,2,2,1,2,2,1,1,0,3,0 (avg 1.6)
Losses (25H2) - 1,2,1,3,0,2,0,1,2,1,0,2,0,2,1,1,2,0,0,1,1 (avg 1.0)

I don't know if my weight loss journey has been a bit unusual/fortunate as I have never had a proper stall or plateau over the more than 16 months I have been using Mounjaro, so to prevent overshooting where I feel comfortable I have been purposely over the last month trying to gently slow down weight loss without stopping just yet.

I am feeling ok around this weight for now, but want to get to that final "win"🏆 of being a normal BMI before officially going into maintenance. I know BMI is outdated and probably even more inaccurate for me due to the excess skin weight that comes with significant weight loss which (according to ChatGPT) could be anything from 5-15lbs 😮 and at my age/post menopause, and the length of time I was obese/skin was stretched, probably the higher end of that range, but I want to be "normal" after so many years of being labelled anything from obese to morbidly obese!

I'm still watching your posts @gimmemounjaro and like your range approach for maintenance. I am thinking mine might be 11st 7lbs (BMI 24.1) to 12st (BMI 25.2) for ongoing maintenance while still on Mounjaro, nice round numbers to remember!

Low blood pressure - now averaging 92/61 which is on the low end for my age (56), but can go as low as 89/57 which is mind blowing when it used to be 140/90 when medicated. Anything I've seen says it is the weight loss that has lowered it, not Mounjaro directly, but worth a try coming off to see if it improves - again I will be watching you (feel like a stalker!) as you are a few months ahead of me. A problem I have had over the last 2-3 months is tightness in my calves again from water retention, which I haven't had now for a year or so, so trying to reduce salt which has crept up to see if that helps - which is not ideal for low blood pressure! Wondering if my tiny reduction in Mounjaro is related - but then thinking not everything can be attributed to the medication. It is all a tricky balance.

WeAllHaveWings · 01/11/2025 15:51

One of the women in the office was wearing Adidas grand court platforms this week and they do look great, and on a practical level good to keep your feet dry through small puddles this time of year 💦🤣, but I am still hobbling after I went over on my ankle last week with a loud crack (and I can't get anyone in the bloody NHS to look at it for me) on my flats so think I'll pass on these! - they do look good though!

Zebracat · 01/11/2025 15:57

I love the look of the Grand Courts, but I too will pass on platforms.

gimmemounjaro · 01/11/2025 16:59

I’m following your progress too @WeAllHaveWings - you are getting close!

I saw a study which said 70% ish of bp reduction on MJ could be explained by weight loss but there is something else going on as well, I’ll see if I can find it. I think mine might be improving as I’m taking less MJ, but I’m a bit rubbish about regular monitoring - need to do that properly really. It might be interesting to see if it rises over the week as MJ levels fall. I imagine that I’m eating much less salt than I used to, having cleaned up my diet a bit, so that’s probably not helped either.

I don’t mind the low bp, the dizziness is a bit inconvenient but manageable. But I do miss cardio, still walk every day but miss doing something more intensive. Maybe I’ll try some swimming or something. It’s such a bloody faff though!

InfoSecInTheCity · 01/11/2025 19:04

@WeAllHaveWingsim remarkably clumsy, i somehow manage to fall/bump/trip /twist myself in some way daily. For that reason i along with general comfort I also stick to flat shoes.

Im feeling very happy and content tidy, some may remember that my hammock in the garden is my happy place, and today I amped it up by getting a Chimenea for the gazebo. So spent the last few hours toasting things over open flames and snuggling with DD in the hammock.

gimmemounjaro · 01/11/2025 19:13

@WeAllHaveWings sorry completely forgot, here’s the MJ / BP study I was on about

alltablenochairs · 01/11/2025 20:06

Seeing those Adidas trainers gave me flashbacks to the trainers I used to wear circa 1990's. Ridiculously huge ones that I am surprised I could even walk in. Buffalo's I think they were called. Combined with the stupidly wide leg jeans that trailed on the ground and soaked up allllllllll the puddle juice imaginable. Ironically I am wearing a pair of wide leg cords today. Size 16 ones at that. Combined with an orange spotty tunic dress. My charming teen called me a 90's fashion victim. I dgaf though.

I've always had low blood pressure and the MJ has also tanked it for me. Drinking a lot more water helps, as does wearing those uber attractive compression socks. If you ever lounge on the sofa, raise your feet as well as this can also help.

gimmemounjaro · 01/11/2025 20:29

Aaaah @alltablenochairs I actually bought some buffalo’s from Vinted recently out of nostalgia for my 90s pair 🫣

I had the black ones then, these are not the same and not quite so clompy but still stupidly big

gimmemounjaro · 01/11/2025 20:34

Reginaphalangeeeee · 01/11/2025 23:14

Hi all, I have been unwell with a virus (bed ridden really with fever4-5 days).
Feeling better today and concerned what to do with my jab. I am now 6 days late with it as just didn’t think a good idea while so poorly.

Anyone advise after a break? Should I keep same dose (10mg) or drop it a little?
